Foresight studies conducted by the College of Social Work at Assiut University, Egypt, have enabled us to identify key variables that may enhance its strength by 2030. This study presents a conceptual framework based on the methodology and findings of implementing the Matrix of Cross Impacts Multiplication Applied to a Classification (MICMAC) method, aimed at determining significance through degrees of influence and dependence among one another. To attain the objective of this article, Delphi was employed to analyze 42 key variables, which were subsequently organized based on their respective significance. Among the 42 key variables, analysis has been conducted on 17, providing insights into enhancing the competitiveness and future prospects of these colleges. The findings have highlighted the noteworthy influence of variables like technology infrastructure, applied projects, and international cooperation on the robust assessment of the competitive landscape of the College of Social Work. The variables ranked second in terms of their significance impact on enhancing the institutional capacity of this college, encompassing strategic orientation, mobility, teacher, educational programs, student, scientific research, and innovation. Finally, this study serves as the initial step toward developing future scenarios aimed at enhancing the institution's competitive position.

Abstract Background Vaccine confidence is described as a belief that vaccines are effective, safe, and part of a trustworthy health system. The objective of this study was to develop and validate an Arabic tool to evaluate confidence in the received coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines (ARAB-VAX-CONF). Methods The research team developed the ARAB-VAX-CONF based on three areas specified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): confidence in vaccine effectiveness, confidence in vaccine safety, and confidence in the healthcare system. The analysis includes data from 406 eligible vaccinated persons (≥ 18 years). Cronbach’s alpha was used to measure internal consistency, while convergent, discriminant, exploratory, and confirmatory factor analyses were used to verify construct validity. Results A total of 406 adults were recruited, with a mean age of 33.0 ± 12.2 years. A total of 63.1% were males, 56.7% were married, 21.9% had chronic conditions, 93.3% were nonsmokers, and 39.6% were obligated to obtain vaccines. Abstract Video surveillance faces challenges due to the need for improved anomalous event recognition techniques for human activity recognition. Growing security concerns make standard CCTV systems insufficient because of high monitoring costs and operator exhaustion. Therefore, automated security systems with real-time event recognition are essential. This research introduces a semantic key frame extraction algorithm based on action recognition to minimize frame volume big video data. This approach has not been previously applied with ResNet50, VGG19, EfficientNetB7, and ViT_b16 models for recognizing anomalous events in surveillance videos. The findings demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in achieving high accuracy rates. The proposed method addresses the challenges posed by large volumes of frames generated by surveillance videos, requiring effective processing techniques. A large number of videos from the UCF-Crime dataset were used for proposed model evaluation, including both abnormal and normal videos during the training and testing phase. EfficientNetB7 achieved 86.34% accuracy, VGG19 reached 87.90%, ResNet50 attained 90.46%, and ViT_b16 excelled with 95.87% accuracy. Compared to state-of-the-art models from other studies, the transformer model (ViT_b16) outperformed these algorithms, demonstrating significant improvements in recognizing anomalous events.

Abstract Background Chromosome 16p11.2 deletions and duplications were found to be the second most common copy number variation (CNV) reported in cases with clinical presentation suggestive of chromosomal syndromes. Chromosome 16p11.2 deletion syndrome shows remarkable phenotypic heterogeneity with a wide variability of presentation extending from normal development and cognition to severe phenotypes. The clinical spectrum ranges from neurocognitive and global developmental delay (GDD), intellectual disability, and language defects (dysarthria /apraxia) to neuropsychiatric and autism spectrum disorders. Other presentations include dysmorphic features, congenital malformations, insulin resistance, and a tendency for obesity. Our study aims to narrow the gap of knowledge in Saudi Arabia and the Middle Eastern and Northern African (MENA) region about genetic disorders, particularly CNV-associated disorders. Despite their rarity, genetic studies in the MENA region revealed high potential with remarkable genetic and phenotypic novelty. Results We identified a heterozygous de novo recurrent proximal chromosome 16p11.2 microdeletion by microarray (arr[GRCh38]16p11.2(29555974_30166595)x1) [(arr[GRCh37]16p11.2(29567295_30177916)x1)] and confirmed by whole exome sequencing (arr[GRCh37]16p11.2(29635211_30199850)x1). We report a Saudi girl with severe motor and cognitive disability, myoclonic epilepsy, deafness, and visual impairment carrying the above-described deletion. Our study broadens the known phenotypic spectrum associated with recurrent proximal 16p11.2 microdeletion syndrome to include developmental dysplasia of the hip, optic atrophy, and a flat retina. Notably, the patient exhibited a rare combination of microcephaly, features consistent with the Dandy-Walker spectrum, and a thin corpus callosum (TCC), which are extremely infrequent presentations in patients with the 16p11.2 microdeletion. Additionally, the patient displayed areas of skin and hair hypopigmentation, attributed to a homozygous hypomorphic allele in the TYR gene. Conclusion This report expands on the clinical phenotype associated with proximal 16p11.2 microdeletion syndrome, highlighting the potential of genetic research in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region. It underscores the importance of similar future studies.

Abstract Background The present study investigates the representation of women in the Otolaryngology department in a tertiary academic hospital, and the challenges they face during their residencies. Methods A questionnaire which included demographic information and a series of 54-questions of academic, clinical, social, psychological, and private practice challenges was electronically distributed among female residents registered in the Department of Otolaryngology in the last 10 years (2013–2022) throughout November 2023 to January 2024. Results Eighty-one female residents out of 103 registered (78.6%) responded to the distributed questionnaire highlighting the challenges they faced during their training period. Conclusion The current study addresses the barriers confronted by female residents in the department as well as identifying potential solutions that might help future encouragement of women to select otolaryngology as their specialty.

Abstract Background To assess the association between various systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) disease manifestations, SLE disease activity index 2000 (SLEDAI-2K), systemic lupus international collaborating clinics/American College of Rheumatology Damage Index (SLICC/ACR- SDI) and serum levels of Slit2 in SLE patients. Results The mean age of SLE patients was 31.12 ± 8.68 years while the age at onset was 26.05 ± 7.60 years. Female: male was 9 vs 1. The mean serum levels of Slit2 in SLE patients were significantly higher than the controls (0.55 ± 0.25 vs 0.42 ± 0.15) (P = 0.013). There was no significant difference in Slit2 levels between patients with active vs inactive SLE (P = 0.353) or between patients with and without lupus nephritis (P = 0.900). An insignificant difference in Slit2 levels was found among SLE patients using SDI (P = 0.982). No significant correlations were observed between the serum Slit2 and SLE patients’ demographics, laboratory data, SLEDAI-2K, and SDI except for a positive correlation with platelets and a negative correlation with serum albumin. ROC curve analysis showed that at a cutoff value of 0.44, the area under the curve was 0.677 (95% CI 0.538–0.816, P = 0.013) with a sensitivity of 74%, specificity of 56%, and accuracy of 68%. Conclusion While we observed elevated serum Slit2 levels in SLE patients, there was no significant correlation observed between serum Slit2 levels and SLE clinical manifestations, disease activity, or damage index. Background: Sleep disruptions impact health, correlating with cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and higher mortality. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) involves abdominal pain, altered stool habits, and gut microbiota dysbiosis. Objectives: To screen for obstructive sleep apnea among patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Patients and methods: This cross-sectional study at Qena University Hospital involved adults diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) per Rome IV criteria. Evaluations included personal data, general examinations for vital signs and BMI, and screening for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) using the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and STOP-BANG Questionnaire. Results: The mean age of the study population was 46.77±12.24 years, with 45% male (135). Epworth Sleepiness Scale averaged 3.78 ± 6.72, with 14% (42) having excessive sleepiness (score>10). STOP-BANG score averaged [2.49 ± 1.89], classifying 72.33% (217) as low risk, 13% (39) as intermediate risk, and 14.67% (44) as high risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Abstract Background Patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have decreased bone health. We aimed to investigate serum levels of bone turnover markers (BTMs) (markers of bone formation and bone resorption) and bone mineral density (BMD) at three sites (lumber, neck femur, and total femur) in middle-aged men with type 2 diabetes and to analyze the relationship between them. Also to evaluate serum osteoglycin as a novel marker and its relation to BTMs, BMD, and diabetic status. Methods We recruited seventy-eight patients with T2DM and thirteen non-diabetic, male volunteers as a control group. BMD was measured using a DEXA scan. BTMs (carboxy-terminal crosslinking telopeptide of type 1 collagen [CTX] and procollagen type 1 N propeptide [P1NP]), osteoglycin, PTH, and vitamin D were estimated. Data was compared among subjects and statistical analysis was performed. Results Most of the patients were having normal BMD with no significant difference between patients and the controls. This study aims to explore the impact of urban green spaces on improving quality of life and providing a healthier environment for residents, reflecting the growing global interest in green spaces and their role in sustainable development and climate change mitigation, especially in large cities like Jeddah. Analytical methods and field surveys were used to gather data from five urban parks in Jeddah. The study included questionnaires distributed to 409 park visitors between March and May 2021 to assess their satisfaction with park management, usage patterns, and social and environmental benefits. The findings indicate that green spaces play a crucial role in enhancing both mental and physical health, fostering social interactions, and reducing stress. Good infrastructure and a sense of safety increase visitor engagement, while the availability of green spaces per capita in Jeddah is relatively low compared to other cities. These results underscore the importance of developing public policies to improve access to and quality of green spaces in large urban areas. Green spaces can contribute to sustainable development goals by reducing social disparities and enhancing residents’ quality of life. The study recommends better green space management and increasing public awareness of their benefits.

Museums environment is complicated and defined by indoor air quality, thermal and lighting comfort. Artifacts deterioration is factored by extreme conditions of thermal exposure or excessive lighting. With high control required for exposed old monuments and visitor comfort, museums energy systems reach extreme levels. In this paper, we aim to find the gap in museums high energy loads and reach solutions through architectural design. The paper studies comparison results for different techniques in fifty recent case studies to identify the specific factors that matter most to museum buildings. These factors are implemented simultaneously on one base model in three climatic states by multi-objective optimization. The best option will showcase each climate optimum conditions. The paper introduces optimum architectural procedures optimizing sDA and ASE to minimum 70% and maximum 10% respectively while decreasing thermal load. The results help architects and policy makers achieve daylighting and energy optimization in museums through architecture.

Government response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020 came as a wave of physical closures requiring sudden change in the method of instruction from face-to-face to a completely online. Assessment of student's adaptation to this change during emergency lockdown is the focus of this study. Students' test scores related to perception of persistence levels were studied using correlation analysis. In addition, a regression analysis was performed to examine prediction factors of medical student grades during COVID-19. Students' grades in the module during COVID-19 were significantly higher compared to the grades in recent prior years at the p<0.001 level [F (3, 692) = 9.08]. Pearson product-moment correlation results showed a strong and positive correlation between students' persistence level (M = 3.46, SD = 0.997, n = 79), and their module grade during COVID-19 (M = 258.777, SD = 14.6878, n = 79), r = 0.33, p = < 0.01. The multiple linear regression analysis accounts for 14% of the variance in students' module grades and the variance was statistically significant at p < 0.05. As such, we conclude that students' persistence to adjust to a new learning environment, coupled with module directors and faculty successfully employing remote education methods, met the learning challenges during the pandemic and students maintained a high level of academic success.

[EN] The current study undertakes a closer examination of a segment of the nautical endeavors chronicled in Weni's autobiography, which pertains to an expedition involving the construction of a barge with specific characteristics in terms of type, wood, and dimensions for the transportation of an offering table from Hatnub to Saqqara within a determined period. Despite the apparent simplicity of the vocabulary used in this inscription, it poses several challenges due to adopting the literal meanings, thereby impacting the translation and comprehension of the inscription. The key to deciphering this inscription takes two primary steps: Firstly, delineating the meanings of terms related to boatbuilding in the inscription, such as and , and understanding their precise and contextual significance; secondly, comparing these verbs with others employed for similar purposes elsewhere in Weni’s autobiography. This approach aims to validate the durations for the barge construction and navigation and discern the true significance of the seventeen-day timeframe and other pertinent nautical aspects. Undoubtedly, the integration of studies in Egyptian archaeology and nautical archaeology promises to shed light on these inquiries.

Within the framework of the Egyptian state's vision 2030, and the launch of the national strategy for climate change in Egypt 2050 to achieve the goals of sustainable development, whose goals include climate action, combating climate change, preserving the ecosystem, and solving environmental problems. This research is concerned with studying the role of contemporary mural painting in many countries of the world. In presenting the problems of environmental pollution to confront these problems and calling for their solution through direct interaction between mural painting and the audience receiving the artwork. Contemporary mural artists and many institutions seek to present works of art that affect the recipient in different intellectual, social and age groups, in order to try to change the behavior of the audience receiving the artwork in a positive way towards the elements of the surrounding environment. Contemporary murals that include awareness ideas about environmental problems and issues and climate change aim to create environmental awareness among the recipient, and to develop awareness of the importance of natural resources and their proper management, It is one of the fastest and simplest ways that members of society interact with in their daily lives by instilling the values of respect for the environment in the minds of individuals to be part of their culture and lifestyle to achieve the goals of sustainable development .

Summary The sustained instability in Afghanistan, along with ongoing disease outbreaks and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, has significantly affected the country. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s detection and response capacities faced challenges. Case identification was done in all health facilities from primary to tertiary levels but neglected cases at the community level, resulting in undetected and uncontrolled transmission from communities. This emphasizes a missed opportunity for early detection that Event-Based Surveillance (EBS) could have facilitated. Therefore, Afghanistan planned to strengthen the EBS component of the national public health surveillance system to enhance the capacity for the rapid detection and response to infectious disease outbreaks, including COVID-19 and other emerging diseases. This effort was undertaken to promptly mitigate the impact of such outbreaks. We conducted a landscape assessment of Afghanistan’s public health surveillance system to identify the best way to enhance EBS, and then we crafted an implementation work plan. The work plan included the following steps: establishing an EBS multisectoral coordination and working group, identifying EBS information sources, prioritizing public health events of importance, defining signals, establishing reporting mechanisms, and developing standard operating procedures and training guides. EBS is currently being piloted in seven provinces in Afghanistan. The lessons learned from the pilot phase will support its overall expansion throughout the country.

Work-life balance has gained increasing popularity among scholars and practitioners since the beginning of the century. Despite significant attempts to consolidate this burgeoning field, the scholarly knowledge on work-life balance research remains fragmented and detached due to extant number of publications in the area and the mostly subjective approaches used to encapsulate the literature. As such, the current study presents an objective overview of work-life balance research between 2000 and 2020. Using bibliometric techniques, the authors examined 1190 articles indexed in Scopus database to identify the conceptual structure and current dynamics in the field. During the critical period between the reconceptualization of word-life balance and the emergence of COVID-19 pandemic, the findings reveal that the field was growing exponentially as a multidisciplinary research area. Most of the scholarly work originated in the US, UK, and Australia with a ''locally-centralized-globally-discrete'' collaboration pattern among scholars. The most relevant and developed research themes included, in addition to work-life balance, topics related to gender and family life. Furthermore, new emerging research directions had evolved beyond the traditional constructs including job security, flexible working hours, individual productivity, and work-life conflicts. The study contributes to the current knowledge on work-life balance by providing critical insights into the evolution of the field and offers potential avenues for scholars who are interested in this critical research domain and the changes it has experienced post pandemic.
