Agent-based training systems can enhance people's social skills. The effective development of these systems needs a comprehensive architecture that outlines their components and relationships. Such an architecture can pinpoint improvement areas and future outlooks. This paper presents ARTES: a general architecture illustrating how components of agent-based social training systems work together. We studied existing systems and architectures for training and tutoring to design ARTES and identify its essential components and interaction characteristics. ARTES comprises two core components: the agent simulation of social situations, and educational elements to provide guided learning. We link ARTES's crucial components to four primary learning theories (behaviourism, cognitivism, social cognitive theory, and constructivism) to illustrate the role of agent simulation and tutoring elements in establishing desired learning outcomes. Furthermore, we map ARTES's components against eight architectures, 43 systems and three tools to indicate the components' relevance, completeness, generalisation, and deployment potential across contexts. In addition to ARTES, the paper also contributes by identifying future improvements and research directions, such as the agent's thinking, tutoring methods, knowledge transfer, and ethical implications. We believe ARTES can help bridge the gap between virtual human simulations and impactful educational learning, offering training system developers desirable features like understandability and adaptability. To effectively isolate low-frequency vibrations, we present a rigid–flexible coupling quasi-zero-stiffness (QZS) vibration isolator with high-static-low-dynamic stiffness (HSLDS) characteristics. Specifically, the QZS isolator is realized by the development of a compliant constant-force mechanism, formed by parallelly combining a diamond-shape mechanism and a nonlinear bi-stable beam in parallel. To evaluate performance of the QZS isolator, we derived an analytical force–displacement model and dynamic model based on pseudo-rigid body method and Lagrange's equations. Then, finite element analysis was performed in Workbench to verify theoretical analysis and identify the optimal design parameters. Furthermore, the dynamic responses of the QZS isolator are established with the harmonic balance method. Finally, the relationships among displacement transmissibility and factors including damping, BSB, payload mass, and material property are discussed. The article discusses the use of modular architecture and prefabrication in exhibition venues, looking at the possibility of designing installations with multiple temporalities. Through four concrete experimentations, we discuss ways of repurposing precast modules in new layouts with different functional programs in line with the “design for disassembly” concept. The article also emphasises the relevance of the massive residential construction programme based on modular and prefabricated systems launched by the German Democratic Republic in the mid-1970s, and the importance of reducing the environmental impact of concrete production today. Moreover, aiming at the need to devise new strategies, it presents a research agenda towards the adoption of prefabricated modules or the cultural sector. The four cases presented here are derived from the experimental use of modular solutions by the Porto-based practice SUMMARY: the GOMOS system indicates that prefabricated modules may have a longer lifespan than traditional building layouts, as they can be repurposed, making their reuse economically viable and environmentally friendly; the “Infrastructure-Structure-Architecture” installation at La Biennale 2016 reflects on possible adjustments in the construction industry; the project for the 2018 YAP MAXXI showcases the design process of a temporary installation that becomes a permanent building; and the VR exhibition “The Reasons Offsite” addresses prefabrication as a portable dissemination project.

This study aims to reflect and expand the notion of modularity in architectural design methods. The discussion about modular architecture is certainly familiar across architectural discourse; where its universality has been repeatedly challenged by the post-modern movement. The study aims to unpack and rethink the method and significance of modularity, not only as a means of repetition but as a contextual design response. The study generate reflection towards two lodge architecture design projects. The architecture of lodge provides complexities with regard to various programmatic needs, temporal occupation, quick construction processes, and often deep connection to the surrounding environment. This study examines four reflective concepts which expand the idea and method of modularity in architecture. First, the roof modules in lodge architecture promotes efficient spatial programs. Secondly, the use of modularity allows parallel operation of the building and the construction process. Thirdly, modularity enables construction of architecture as parts constructing the whole, creating connection between spatial scales. Fourth, modularity constructs the inside and outside experience, providing connection with environmental context. This study offers a new perspective on repositioning and expanding modularity, not only as a means of repetition but also as a form of contextual design thinking.

This paper addresses the intricate challenge posed by remote handling (RH) operations in facilities with operational lifespans surpassing 30 years. The extended RH task horizon necessitates a forward-looking strategy to accommodate the continuous evolution of RH equipment. Confronted with diverse and evolving hardware interfaces, a critical requirement emerges for a flexible and adaptive software architecture based on changing situations and past experiences. The paper explores the inherent challenges associated with sustaining and upgrading RH equipment within an extended operational context. In response to this challenge, a groundbreaking, flexible, and maintainable human–machine interface (HMI) architecture named MAMIC is designed, guaranteeing seamless integration with a diverse range of RH equipment developed over the years. Embracing a modular and extensible design, the MAMIC architecture facilitates the effortless incorporation of new equipment without compromising system integrity. Moreover, by adopting this approach, nuclear facilities can proactively steer the evolution of RH equipment, guaranteeing sustained performance and compliance throughout the extended operational lifecycle. Causal inference seeks to learn the effect of interventions on outcomes. Its potential in the health domain has been dramatically increasing recently, due to advancements in machine learning, as well as in the growing amount of medical data collected. Gaia-X provides a framework to implement Health Data Spaces at scale, in a compliant, secure, and trustable manner. In this paper, we provide a modular online service for causal inference using observational data, building on the Gaia-X framework. While two versions of the IDA algorithm for causal inference are already provided, the service allows users to further contribute algorithms in various programming languages (not only for causal inference), as well as their data, and efficiently execute these on a central server. Additionally, the platform facilitates the exchange of algorithms and data among participants. Users of the platform can enter into agreements with other users over the use of algorithms and data. Often contemporary buildings undergo several modifications during their life cycle, usually targeting the retrofitting of their inner or outer shell or the reinforcing of the structural system. A modular construction strategy often forms the solution for a quick and standardized production or modification of architectural spaces. The paper departs from the ambiguity by clarifying terms and strategies in modular construction to further discuss the typologies of modular architecture, the historical and theoretical context in which they have evolved and their design and construction process. Finally, it conducts a critical analysis and classification coupled with a study of structures that are formed by the synthesis of modules that have the same shape and size, to identify current trends and extract conclusions about the impact of modularity in architecture. Modern beekeeping uses various technological solutions to control and manage apiaries, but many need help with problems related to energy consumption and the inability to adapt to changing conditions. This article presents the development of the conceptual model of hardware-software complex architecture, focusing on the modularity and flexibility of the system. The main idea is to use a universal programmable logic controller with a modular architecture, which allows users to quickly adapt the system to new tasks by adding or replacing sensors and control mechanisms. The proposed approach considers minimizing energy consumption using energy-efficient LoRa technology for data transmission. Such a system's main advantages and potential risks are considered, and formulas for calculating energy consumption during data transmission are presented. A contemporary European city faces various challenges, and it remains in a permanent state of crisis. The components that create such a situation are subject to change over time. In addition to the existing problems, the inhabitants, authorities, and people involved in designing and transforming the city, including architects, face newchallenges. In recent years, the old problem of a shortage of affordable housing has been coupled with new challenges, including a sudden influx of refugees, climate change and its consequences, and the pandemic. Solutions to these issues are complex and multi-dimensional, and the actions to be taken are of interdisciplinary nature. Prefabricated architecture can be part of these solutions. Prefabricated building technologies, including prefabricated large-panel buildings, modular buildings and mobile structures, can, under appropriate conditions, modernize the process of building new housing. These solutions fit into the idea of sustainable development and can respond to unexpected and dynamically changing circumstances over time (emergency buildings). This paper examines the contemporary urban crisis and possible steps to be taken through the prism of the possibilities offered by the design of prefabricated buildings. The question is what criteria and design strategies should be adopted for prefabricated architecture to meet the demands of a city in crisis? The conducted analyses are universal. Nevertheless, they consider the application of prefabricated solutions in architecture in Poland and the potential for its further development. Therefore, the discussed implementations from the author's country are given an important role in the text and are shown first against the background of European design practice. A considerable part of enterprises' total expenses is dedicated to maintenance interventions. Predictive maintenance (PdM) has appeared as a solution to decrease these costs; however, the necessity of end-to-end solutions in deploying predictive models and the fact that these models are often difficult to interpret by maintenance practitioners hinder the adoption of PdM approaches. In this work, we propose a flexible architecture for PdM to recommend maintenance actions. The proposed architecture is based on containerized microservices on intelligent edge devices together with a hybrid model which fuses generalized fault trees (GFTs) and anomaly detection. Results on injection molds carried out at OLI, a Portuguese company, show that the proposed solution is suitable for deploying predictive models and services such as data preprocessing, sensor management, and data flow control, among others. These services run near the shop floor, allowing for greater flexibility, as they may be remotely managed and customized according to the company's requirements. The results of the GFT model show an estimated reduction of more than 63% in current maintenance costs, while the distribution of analytics tasks by the edge devices reduces the burden on the network, requiring only 0.2% of the current cloud storage. The access to basic healthcare for people who are not registered in the national health system is nowadays a very urgent problem, both in Italy and in the rest of the world. Immigration and poverty are only some of the factors that make one of the primary rights of humanity—healthcare—not a right for everyone. The main problems, which have grown exponentially in the last decade, are at operational level, due to the lack of personnel (mostly volunteers) and the lack of spaces. This paper illustrates procedures and techniques for the design of a small emergency structure that can be moved and positioned in urban contexts. The first part consists of a deep analysis of the problem and of the state of the art of existing typologies. The second part is dedicated to the conceptual framework (requirements, conceptual model) and to the definition of the preliminary design for the new approach to basic non-conventional sanitary spaces. In the course of efforts to develop and define uniform routines for the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) in industrial environments, it has become essential to integrate industrial communication standards such as OPC UA in the context of IoT ontologies and implications for practical implementation. The Sensor, Observation, Sampling, and Actuator Ontology (SOSA) offers the possibility of mapping OPC UA services such as read and write functions to the underlying system in the sense of IoT. As an aid for the practical implementation of industrial use cases, an architecture based on the considerations of a generic modular system is proposed. Variable elements in the implementation of OPC UA interfaces are identified and discussed. The architectural approach is being evaluated by implementing an OPC UA server and supplementary applications in order to embed machine tools with different control systems in industrial production networks. This paper proposes a design methodology that is dedicated to improving the concept of a modular hybrid power chain that uses interleaved converters. The approach involves optimising the system under multi-physical constraints, where the number of cells in the interleaved converters is considered as a key modular parameter. The methodology uses analytical models to strike a balance between computation time and result accuracy. This compromise is indispensable to the construction of a smart design approach under multi-physical constraints, such as electric, efficiency, volume, and thermal constraints. The proposed approach has been applied to a hybrid fuel cell and battery power system for automotive applications; the goal is to obtain a global optimal architecture chain by optimising the number of interleaved converter cells and by determining appropriate power electronics components and the optimal sizing of sources. This constitutes the primary step for providing an effective pre-design support tool for considering architecture modularity, facilitating the use of new technologies in the early design stage. The results showed that the interleaving concept allows for better flexibility in respecting the design constraints to improve the design of hybrid power systems. The World Robot Summit (WRS) 2020 Assembly Challenge aims to realize the future of industrial robotics by building agile and lean production systems that can (1) respond to ever-changing manufacturing requirements for high-mix low-volume production, (2) be configured easily without paying a high cost for system integration, (3) be reconfigured in an agile and lean manner, and (4) be implemented as agile one-off manufacturing for the industry. One of the technical challenges of assembly is the detection, identification, and classification of a small object in an unstructured environment to grasp, manipulate, and insert it into the mating part to assemble the mechanical system. We presented an end-to-end system solution based on flexibility, modularity, and robustness with integrated machine vision and robust planning and execution. To achieve this, we utilized the behavior tree paradigm and a hierarchy of recovery strategies to ensure effective operation. We selected the behavior tree approach because of its design efficiency in creating complex systems that are modular, hierarchical, and reactive, and offer graphical representations with semantic meaning. These properties are essential for any part assembly task. Our system was selected for the WRS 2020 Assembly Challenge finals based on its successful performance in qualifying rounds. Prefabricated modular architecture brings diversified opportunities for sustainable university student accommodation. Modern and modular construction systems offer affordable and comfortable housing to students. The housing units form the core construction units of the dormitories. They are made from recycled shipping containers or prefabricated modular blocks that share common characteristics. The accommodation sections of modular dormitories are characterised by efficient sorting of prefabricated cells along horizontal communications. The paper analyses characteristic case studies and defines the predominant floor plan types of modular student accommodation cells. The difference in the layout and operational solutions also results from the specifics of the supporting structures. The aim is to categorise the prevailing floor types of modular accommodation cells and to define the spatial standard of student rooms while maintaining the right measure in the relationship: efficiency – invention – user comfort. Attractive interiors can increase the value of college houses. The basis of such projects is to have well-organised floor plans, which are clear and functional, even with regard to their visual effects.

This paper proposes design and implementation of a battery management system (BMS) for the industrial internet of things (IIoT) enabled applications. The hardware and software development of this BMS is briefly presented in this paper. In terms of hardware development, the presented BMS have modular topology and has 1) high fault tolerance and 2) has exceptionally flexible deployment owing to its topology having multiple local management units (LMUs) connected to a central management unit (CMU). This hardware design approach aims to address the overall design efficiency and cost trade-off of BMS deployment. The hardware design efficiency is tested using actual deployment. In terms of fault tolerance using 1 – 3 LMUs at fault, the voltage monitoring accuracy is maintained for each LMUs. An average of 0.00017 V, 0.0008 V and 0.001 V voltage difference is yielded for 1, 2, and 3 modules at fault respectively. Additionally, core BMS sub-circuit is tested to verify hardware design efficiency such as the DC-to-DC converter which yielded 92.74%. Furthermore, the CMU is integrated with a wireless communication circuit that enables IIoT-based applications such as the emerging edge-based, and a plethora of intelligent deployment. In terms of software, the presented BMS aims to realize state-of-the-art processing through IIoT based approach. For software testing and verification, the BMS is deployed to an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). The signal stability is tested for UGV based application at a 3500s deployment time whereas an average of 0.0010V voltage difference is yielded. This is verified using time markers which is further analyzed using software-based signal processing and acquisition simulation. Concisely, the proposed BMS aims to converge IIoT applications to its actual deployment. The proposed BMS is designed, implemented, and successfully deployed to test its viability both in the simulation platform and actual deployment.

Modularity is often employed to increase the flexibility and adaptability of a system. A well-known issue during the design of modular systems is the emergence of ripple effects propagating throughout the system when one module is changed, which is dependent on other modules within the system. While several techniques or approaches have been proposed to mitigate these effects, they often neglect the integration and interconnection of cross-cutting concerns (i.e., functionalities that are required across different parts of the main functional dimension) within the system. This article argues that the proper integration of cross-cutting concerns is important in order to avoid ripple effects and preserve the adaptability of a modular system. Based on a set of possible integration architectures that offer different alternatives to integrate cross-cutting concerns within a modular structure, we introduce the integration design matrix (IDM) as an instrument to systematically analyze the cross-cutting concern provisioning within specific modular artifacts. A set of design guidelines is proposed to optimize the integration of the cross-cutting concerns, applicable within the context of the IDM. Medical data describe patient health information, both in healthy and disease conditions. In any case, health institutions need to ask for patient consent in order to provide their services. Patients usually give consent on a one-time basis, for a specific usage. Afterwards, if medical data usage is research, original patient consent does not apply and further consents should be required. On the other hand, provenance of medical data to verify the origin of health procedures is desirable, as digital health is increasing. Compared to autonomous agent learning, lifelong agent learning tackles the additional challenge of accumulating skills in a way favourable to long term development. What an agent learns at a given moment can be an element for the future creation of behaviours of greater complexity, whose purpose cannot be anticipated. Beyond its initial low-level sensorimotor development phase, the agent is expected to acquire, in the same manner as skills, values and goals which support the development of complex behaviours beyond the reactive level. To do so, it must have a way to represent and memorize such information. In this article, we identify the properties suitable for a representation system supporting the lifelong development of agents through a review of a wide range of memory systems and related literature. Following this analysis, our second contribution is the proposition and implementation of such a representation system in MIND, a modular architecture for lifelong development. The new variable module acts as a simple memory system which is strongly integrated to the hierarchies of skill modules of MIND, and allows for the progressive structuration of behaviour around persistent non-symbolic representations. Variable modules have many applications for the development and structuration of complex behaviours, but also offer designers and operators explicit models of values and goals facilitating human interaction, control and explainability. We show through experiments two possible uses of variable modules. In the first experiment, skills exchange information by using a variable representing the concept of "target", which allows the generalization of navigation behaviours. In the second experiment, we show how a non-symbolic representation can be learned and memorized to develop beyond simple reactive behaviour, and keep track of the steps of a process whose state cannot be inferred by observing the environment. With the development of blockchain technology, the research on digital currency is attracting more and more attention, especially Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), which plays an important role in national economic construction. However, compared with existing cryptocurrencies, CBDC needs a more controllable decentralization and more emphasized supervision. Therefore, the critical part of CBDC is the network architecture that saves computing resources, the technical scheme that is in line with economic ecology, and efficient consensus algorithms. In this paper, we propose a hybrid blockchain system with a modularity network for CBDC. The account scheme is used to record frequently circulated digital currencies, especially for massive small payment transactions when the digital assets and smart contracts with large value fluctuations and weak liquidity are recorded using the Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) scheme. In terms of network architecture, a modular blockchain architecture is proposed, and a sliced data storage solution is designed to enhance the concurrency of this structured network. We also proposed a CBDC supervision mode for blockchain, and on this basis, the DPOS-BFT algorithm is optimized, which reduces the two rounds of consensus of the original algorithm to one round. Finally, three simulation experiments on scheme, network, and consensus are carried out, which show this system can comprehensively improve the transaction processing and the consensus speed.

Genomic information is a very sensitive type of digital information as it not only applies to a person, but also to close relatives. Therefore, privacy provision is key to protecting genomic information from unauthorized access. It is worth noting that most of the current genomic information formats do not provide specific mechanisms by which to secure the stored information. In order to solve, among other things, the privacy provision issue, we proposed the GIPAMS (Genomic Information Protection And Management System) modular architecture, which is based on the use of standards such as ISO/IEC 23092 and a few GA4GH (Global Alliance for Genomics and Health) initiatives. Some of the GIPAMS modules have already been implemented, mainly based on ISO/IEC 23092 features, and we are conducting work on the complete version of the architecture, and other standards are also considered. One of the objectives of GIPAMS is to enable the management of different formats of genomic information in a unique and interoperable way, providing privacy and security for formats that do not currently support them. With flexure-based micro-positioning stages (MPSs) being in high demand for high-precision applications, the performance and cost of flexure-based MPSs are two issues that urgently need to be addressed. In addition, the current MPSs are being developed toward complex spatial configurations, which further precludes monolithic fabrication. To address the aforementioned issues, modular MPSs using designed standardized modules are introduced in this paper. Firstly, the motivations are described, followed by the modular design. In addition, a new assembly concept analogy with composing compounds is proposed for guiding module assembly, including some proposed planar and spatial configurations. For validation, the static and dynamic performances of modular MPSs with respect to different modules and materials are presented as case studies. 韵遭躁藻糟贼蚤增藻 To investigate the changes in resting-state functional connectivity within and between brain networks in patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD). Methods The blood oxygen level dependence and 3D-T1WI images of 38 patients with AUD and 38 matched healthy volunteers (HC) were acquired on a 1.5 T MRI scanner. The AUD group underwent Michigan Alcohol Screening Test and all subjects were evaluated using the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). The changes in functional connectivity within and between brain network in both groups were analyzed. Results Compared with HC, the MMSE and MoCA scores in the AUD were significantly lower (P<0.05) suggesting that cognitive deficits existed in the AUD. Both groups had typical hyper-connectivity in the brain network showing different connectivity patterns. The AUD group had significant reduction in functional connectivity (P<0.05, FDR correction), especially in the sensorimotor network (SMN), dorsal attentional network (DAN), salience network (SN), and default mode network (DMN). In addition, functional connection increased between DMN and SN in AUD. The paper presents the modeling, simulation, and implementation of mobile robots based on wireless robotic components (WRCs) through a model-based development framework that uses the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Colored Petri Nets (CPNs). Each WRC is a standalone module composed of a wireless communication unit, a processing unit, and sensor(s)/actuator(s) to perform a specific function. The WRC architecture is described generically by UML diagrams to lead the development of WRC-based robotic systems. The proposed framework customizes the UML diagrams based on the analysis of the robot platform, its assigned task, and the operational environment. Then the WRC behavioral design specifications are translated to the formalism of CPNs. The developer complements the CPNs to generate a module per each WRC into a hierarchical CPN. The WRC architecture and the development framework are used to implement an Ackermann steering robot and differential drive robots to perform the tasks of wall-following and exploration while avoiding obstacles, respectively. The validation schema follows three phases: simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, and physical implementation of mobile robots configured with the appropriate WRCs.
