In CERME12, our working group "Algorithmics" started its work as a newly established TWG. Since algorithms have always been at the heart of mathematics and their importance has been steadily increasing since the beginnings of theoretical computer science, the design and analysis of algorithms – called algorithmics (Traub 1964, Knuth 1985) – lies at the intersection of mathematics and computer science. For this reason, on the one hand, various algorithms and algorithmic activities have their traditional place in mathematics curricula at all levels. At the school level, mathematics and computer science have interacted since the 1980s, when many schools set up labs with computers equipped with programming software. International audience; La cryptographie est un domaine propice pour étudier les interactions entre mathématiques et informatique. Nous présentons la conception d'une situation didactique basée sur un système cryptographique asymétrique. Cette situation a été expérimentée dans une formation d'enseignants.

Cet ouvrage explore le rôle que peut jouer l’épistémologie en didactique des sciences expérimentales et des mathématiques. Il offre une vue d’ensemble sur cette question ainsi qu’une série d’études de cas portant sur des contenus d’enseignement variés et couvrant différents niveaux d’enseignement, depuis l’école primaire jusqu’à l’université. Les contributions se répartissent selon deux axes de recherche. Le premier examine la construction des connaissances scientifiques elles-mêmes et leur transposition pour la classe, tandis que le second s’intéresse davantage au mode d’enseignement des sciences.

L’introduction d’éléments liés à l’informatique, tels que l’algorithmique, dans l’enseignement des mathématiques, en France comme à l’étranger, soulève des questions profondes d’ordre didactique et nécessite de porter un regard nouveau sur certains concepts mathématiques enseignés traditionnellement. International audience; Nous présentons l'analyse de preuves de chercheurs sur l'équivalence de deux définitions du concept d'arbre en théorie des graphes, l'une des deux définitions étant de type récursif et l'autre non. L'analyse vise à mettre en lumière la relation entre les notions de récurrence et de récursivité, telle qu'elle est perçue par les experts, afin d'éclairer les questions didactiques que soulève leur apprentissage.

International audience; The general aim of the panel was to offer a reflection on the genesis and the contribution of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (ERME) to research in mathematics education, regarding its past, present and future. After a short introduction, the panel focused on threetopics: The ERME society, presenting a historical and present view; YERME and YESS, highlighting history and current developments related to supporting young researchers; the ERME book, focusing on its evolution, spirit and results. Each topic started with an input by two panel members who also answered questions by participants of CERME 11 sent in advance or raised during the panel. The panel was concluded by the president and the two co-chairs of the panel.

International audience; In the last decade, French curricula for secondary school have included contents in Computer Science inside Mathematics curricula. We study this particular situation by questioning the history of the introduction of Computer Science in school in France, by analyzing the links between Mathematics and Computer Science in the curricula (based on epistemological considerations), and by enlightening the issues of this curriculum under development.

International audience; In this chapter, we first present an overall picture of the French mathematics curriculum, in particular since 2000; then we focus on the primary school curriculum and its recent evolutions. We follow with considerations of the controversies raised by the new curriculum (starting September 2016) for students aged 12 to 15. Next we focus on a particular content area, algorithmics across different grades. Textbooks are crucial resources for teaching, influencing the implemented curriculum (Pepin & Haggarty, 2001; Valverde et al., 2002). Deep changes in curriculum have resulted in the development of digital resources so we also focus on the development of a particular French e-textbook. International audience; L'introduction d'algorithmique dans les curriculums de mathématiques du lycée depuis 2009 soulève la question du rôle du concept algorithme dans les mathématiques aujourd'hui. Cette question s'adresse autant à la didactique qu'à l'épistémologie des mathématiques.En repérant les éléments qui font la spécificité du concept algorithme, nous avons développé un modèle épistémologique répondant aux besoins didactiques. Une spécificité de notre approche a été de s'appuyer sur des entretiens avec des chercheurs en mathématiques et en informatique (on peut parler d'épistémologie contemporaine) en plus des textes scientifiques. Ce choix se justifie par les évolutions relativement récentes du concept, ainsi qu'une volonté de questionner l'activité algorithmique. Il s'agit donc à la fois de comprendre la fonction du concept et sa place dans la démarche mathématique.Le modèle épistémologique développé nous a permis de mener une analyse approfondie de la transposition didactique dans différentes institutions et de proposer des repères pour penser l'enseignement de l'algorithme.Nous présenterons ce modèle épistémologique, sa construction et ses applications en didactique en proposant une réflexion sur la relation épistémologie-didactique en mathématiques. Nous essaierons d'ouvrir le questionnement à l'épistémologie et la didactique de l'informatique, ou au moins aux interactions informatique-mathématiques que questionne nécessairement un concept tel que l'algorithme.

Part 2: Regular Submissions; International audience; In this article, we come back to the seminal role of epistemology in didactics of sciences and particularly in mathematics. We defend that the epistemological research on the interactions between mathematics and informatics is necessary to feed didactical research on today’s mathematics learning and teaching situations, impacted by the development of informatics. We develop some examples to support this idea and propose some perspectives to attack this issue.

International audience; We present a research project that aims to build a model of mathematical activity that can be used in primary teacher education. This model must be useful both for teacher training and be able to support teachers’ practices. We propose the idea of Unpacking and Repacking mathematical activity to achieve this goal.

Recently, the notion of algorithm has gained in importance in secondary school curricula, in France and abroad. Algorithm is strongly linked with computer science, mathematics and proof and its teaching raises many didactical questions. In this thesis, we propose an epistemological analysis of the algorithm in order to study its transposition and to build didactical situations. To begin with, we introduce a detailed epistemological analysis of the concept, highlighting its fundamental aspects. It leads us to construct a model of conceptions for algorithm regarding the academical knowledge (in mathematics and computer science) and taking into account the different forms an algorithm can take. Those results have been experimentally validated by the analysis of interviews of researchers. This allows us to study the didactical transposition involved in the French high school. Through the study of the official curricula, selected textbooks and online resources, we emphasize a partial transposition of the concept, mainly tool-oriented and based on programming. In the last part, we propose a characterization of fundamental problems for algorithm and perspectives for the design and the study of didactical situations in algorithmics., Récemment, l'algorithme a pris une place plus importante dans l'enseignement secondaire en France et à l'étranger. Ce concept, lié à l'informatique mais aussi aux mathématiques et à la preuve, soulève de nombreuses questions didactiques. Cette thèse propose une analyse épistémologique du concept dans le but d'étudier sa transposition et de construire des situations didactiques. Dans un premier temps, nous présentons une analyse épistémologique détaillée du concept en mettant en avant ses aspects fondamentaux. Cela permet de proposer un modèle de conceptions pour l'algorithme du point de vue du savoir savant (en mathématiques et informatique) et tenant compte l'ensemble des formes que peut prendre l'algorithme. Ces résultats, validés expérimentalement par les analyses d'entretiens avec des chercheurs, permettent de mener une étude de la transposition en jeu dans l'enseignement au lycée en France. Au travers de l'étude des instructions officielles, de manuels scolaires et de ressources en ligne, nous mettons en évidence une transposition partielle du concept principalement orientée vers la programmation et l'usage de l'algorithme comme un outil. La dernière partie propose une caractérisation des problèmes fondamentaux pour l'algorithme et des perspectives pour la construction et l'étude de situations didactiques en algorithmique.

International audience; We deal with the concept of algorithm which is taking importance in curricula in many countries. In particular, we develop an epistemological analysis of this concept and discuss its place in the mathematical science and the link it has with proof. This analysis is enriched by the study of "how researchers know the algorithm". We conclude with implications of the changes in curricula on proof learning.

We present a Maths à modeler research workshop with students who are experiencing cognitive and physical disability. We have to help students to progress in investigating and provide them compensation (Act 2005). We wonder about these tools that act on students strategies., Ce texte présente un atelier Maths à modeler avec des élèves en situation de handicaps cognitifs et moteurs. Pour que les élèves puissent progresser dans la recherche du problème, il est nécessaire de leur fournir des moyens de compensation (loi 2005). Nous montrons les effets de l'utilisation de ces outils sur la résolution du problème.

International audience; This contribution takes place in the context of a research project 1 on the epistemological and didactical issues of interactions between mathematics and computer science. We make the hypothesis that, with the introduction of digital tools and computer science content in most curricula, significantly taking into account the epistemology of mathematics, computer science and their interactions is essential in order to tackle the challenges of mathematics and computer science education in the digital era. In view of this, addressing the question of proof in mathematics and computer science is a central didactical issue, which we examine in this contribution. We will elaborate on the links between the concepts of algorithm, proof, and program, and will argue for their significance in a general reflection on didactical issues in mathematics and computer science, in their teaching at high school and undergraduate levels.

International audience; Dans cet article, les auteurs membres de l'équipe "Maths à Modeler", présentent tout d'abord une étude épistémologique sur la place et le rôle de l'algorithme dans la science mathématique. Ils étudient les différents aspects de l'algorithme suivant une dichotomie outil-objet, puis développent le lien privilégié qu'il entretient avec la preuve. En s'appuyant sur cette étude, une analyse des programmes du lycée et des manuels sont proposées.Dans un troisième temps, une situation de recherche en classe mettant en jeu l'algorithme est présentée. Les résultats d'expérimentations de cette situation montrent comment la construction d'algorithmes, leur preuve et l'analyse de leur complexité peuvent être questionnées en classe.
