As advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) is considered to be a highly effective approach for degrading organic pollutants, the simultaneous coagulation and oxidation process by the Fenton‐like reaction of nanoscale zero‐valent iron (NZVI) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is investigated to eliminate the harmful cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa in this study, and the process conditions are optimized using the central composite design of response surface methodology (RSM); in addition, the removal efficiency of M. aeruginosa (in terms of chlorophyll a, Chl a) and the verifications of the antioxidant abilities, as well as extracellular organic matters (EOM) and intracellular organic matters (IOM) are investigated under the optimized conditions. Results indicate that H2O2 concentration is the key factor affecting the Chl a removal efficiency, and the maximum Chl a removal reaches 98.10% under the optimized conditions: NZVI concentration 62.82 mg L−1, H2O2 concentration 54.2 mmol L−1, pH 4.38 and rotating speed 67 rpm. The high correlation coefficient (R2 > 0.80) of analysis of variance (ANOVA) demonstrates the RSM model is extremely significant and suitable for experimental results. Moreover, the total organic carbon (TOC) and fluorescent substances (soluble cyanobacteria metabolic byproducts, aromatic proteins II, humic and fulvic acid‐like compounds) for both EOM and IOM are enhanced removal. It is speculated the removal mechanisms of the Fenton‐like process of NZVI/H2O2 for cyanobacterium belongs to the combined actions of the oxidation of Fe(II)/H2O2 and the coagulation of Fe(III), which destroy the defense system and result in the removal of M. aeruginosa. Plant phenology is an important indicator of the impact of climate change on ecosystems. We have continuously monitored vegetation phenology using near-surface remote sensing, i.e., the PhenoCam in a gully region of the Loess Plateau of China from March 2020 to November 2022. In each image, three regions of interest (ROIs) were selected to represent different types of vegetation (scrub, arbor, and grassland), and five vegetation indexes were calculated within each ROI. The results showed that the green chromatic coordinate (GCC), excess green index (ExG), and vegetation contrast index (VCI) all well-captured seasonal changes in vegetation greenness. The PhenoCam captured seasonal trajectories of different vegetation that reflect differences in vegetation growth. Such differences may be influenced by external abiotic environmental factors. We analyzed the nonlinear response of the GCC series to environmental variables with the generalized additive model (GAM). Our results suggested that soil temperature was an important driver affecting plant phenology in the Loess gully region, especially the scrub showed a significant nonlinear response to soil temperature change. Since in situ phenology monitoring experiments of the small-scale on the Loess Plateau are still relatively rare, our work provides a reference for further understanding of vegetation phenological variations and ecosystem functions on the Loess Plateau. In order to eliminate the harmful cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa and the algal organic matters (AOMs) produced by M. aeruginosa, the combined process of nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has been carried out, and the removal mechanism has also been clarified. As the initial cyanobacterial cell concentration is 1.0 (±0.05) × 105 cells·mL−1, all the treatments of NZVI, H2O2, and NZVI/H2O2 have inhibition effects on both the Chl a contents and photosynthetic pigments, with the Chl a removal efficiency of 47.3%, 80.5%, and 90.7% on the 5th day, respectively; moreover, the variation of ζ potential is proportional to that of the Chl a removal efficiency. The malondialdehyde content and superoxide dismutase activity are firstly increased and ultimately decreased to mitigate the oxidative stress under all the treatments. Compared with NZVI treatment alone, the oxidation of the H2O2 and NZVI/H2O2 processes can effectively destroy the antioxidant enzyme system and then inactivate the cyanobacterial cells, which further leads to the release of photosynthetic pigments and intracellular organic matters (IOM); in addition, the IOM removal efficiency (in terms of TOC) is 61.3% and 54.1% for the H2O2 and NZVI/H2O2 processes, respectively. Although NZVI is much more effective for extracellular organic matters (EOM) removal, it is less effective for IOM removal. The results of the three-dimensional EEM fluorescence spectra analysis further confirm that both H2O2 and NZVI/H2O2 have the ability to remove fluorescent substances from EOM and IOM, due to the oxidation mechanism; while NZVI has no removal effect for the fluorescent substances from EOM, it can remove part of fluorescent substances from IOM due to the agglomeration. All the results demonstrate that the NZVI/H2O2 process is a highly effective and applicable technology for the removal of M. aeruginosa and AOMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The wavelet transform and detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) were introduced briefly. Then DFA and discrete wavelet were used to analyze the fluctuation characteristics of precipitation in Hotan from 1954 to 2003. It was shown by analysis with the methods of de-trend fluctuation and wavelet transform that the precipitation in Hotan will decreased in near future for several years, and will last 21 months at least.
