Abstract

Highly transparent Cu2O thin films on transparent conducting oxide on a glass substrate were fabricated using reactive sputtering by carefully controlling the O2 flow. The impurity dependence of transmittance was thoroughly investigated, and the transmittance was found heavily depending on impurities in Cu2O thin films as confirmed by x-ray diffraction analysis. A highly transparent Cu2O thin film was fabricated using precisely impurity-controlled Cu2O thin films. The effects of impurities in a Cu2O thin film on photovoltaic properties were studied. A maximum efficiency of 8.4% was observed in the lowest-impurity Cu2O thin film. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A study was conducted on a D2-symmetric fully substituted porphyrin as a conceptually new chirality-sensing molecule. This conceptually new chirality-sensing molecule diagnoses and memorizes the absolute configurations of chiral acids through hydrogen-bonding interaction. Moreover, the molecule can release and retrieve the chirality memory in response to external stimuli switching.

Abstract

While the introduction of a methoxy group to C-5 of the indole ring of the indolylfulgide caused a large bathochromic shift of the absorption maximum of its colored form, introduction of a methoxy group to C-6 resulted in enlargement of the molar absorption coefficient of the colored form. The 5,6-dimethoxy-substituted indolylfulgide has both properties.
