Complex fluids are of nobleness due to their unique mechanical responses to applied stress, which are different from simple fluids. Therefore, the current study encapsulated the behavior of SH‐wave in a complex fluid layer overlying a fiber‐reinforced half‐space with six different cases considered at the common interface. These cases involve various interface conditions, including perfect bonding, a spring layer, an infinitely thin membrane layer, loose bonding, a combined spring‐membrane layer, and a membrane layer with loose bonding. Precisely, the effect of loose bonding, membrane strength, and spring stiffness at the common interface on the propagation of SH (Shear Horizontal) wave is studied in detail. The problem is mathematically formulated for all the aforementioned six models followed by their solution with the aid of appropriate boundary conditions. Numerical computations are performed with a view to study the effect of stiffness of spring and membrane, as well as loose bonding at the common interface of the media. It is demonstrated that membrane strength impedes wave propagation, while increased spring stiffness supports it. Notably, the combined spring‐membrane interface has a more pronounced effect than a spring layer alone. The findings of this study may be utilized in the development of membrane technology, including the study of fluid membranes and it has significant importance in seismic engineering and vibration isolation systems. This study elucidates the propagation of surface (Rayleigh type) waves in a homogeneous, transversely isotropic, piezothermoelastic half-space subjected to stress free, electrically open or shorted, and thermally insulated or isothermal boundary conditions, based on GN-III type and three-phase-lag thermoelastic models. Plane harmonic wave solutions are employed to find the mechanical displacements, electrical potential, and temperature change. With the aid of these expressions, stresses, electrical displacement, and temperature gradient are derived. Based on different boundary conditions, four secular equations are derived in the considered half-space. Path of the surface particles traces an elliptic path in vertical plane parallel to the direction of wave propagation and the eccentricity of the ellipse is calculated. Particle path degenerates a straight line when there is no phase difference between vertical and horizontal components of displacements. A pre-established analysis is discussed as a particular case of this study. Effect of various characteristics of waves like phase velocity, attenuation coefficient, and specific loss is demonstrated graphically for the GN-III type and three-phase-lag thermoelastic models engaging cadmium selenide (6 mm class) material of hexagonal symmetry. The role of porous piezoelectric materials is very crucial in modern days, especially in designing underwater object detection devices. Therefore, the present article deals with SH-wave propagation in a porous piezoelectric layer sandwiched between an upper mechanically bonded porous layer and lower mechanically and electrically bonded piezoelectric layer. Bonding parameters have been considered to describe the effect of electrical and mechanical imperfections on the interface. The effect of thickness ratio, electro-mechanical bonding parameters on phase velocity are studied extensively. The imperfections at interfaces reduces phase velocity of SH-wave. Response of moving load over a surface is an intriguing problem of mechanics to determine the stability and strength of a structure. Owing to this the present theoretical framework is devoted to find the stresses and electrical displacements of an irregular visco-porous piezoelectric half-space originated due to a uniformly moving line load. Expressions for normal stress, shear stress and electrical displacements have been derived in closed form. Effect of irregularity depth, irregularity factors and frictional coefficient on the stresses and electrical displacements are delineated graphically. Numerical demonstration of procured results is interpreted by means of graphs for two different materials, namely PZT-5A and PZT-7. The present article investigates the characteristic of moving load and effect of irregularity, hydrostatic stress, and magneto-elastic coupling parameter on the stresses developed due to moving load on the surface of an irregular magneto-elastic monoclinic half-space subjected to the friction associated with a rough surface. Boundary conditions are listed for which corresponding analyses can be performed analogously. The expressions for stresses are obtained analytically. Numerical computation of the obtained results are carried out for three different materials with monoclinic symmetry (lithium niobate, lithium tantalate, and quartz); the significant effects of affecting parameters on these relations are distinctly marked by means of graphs. The present paper attempts to investigate the effect of sandiness, corrugated boundary surfaces, heterogeneity, and gravity on phase velocity and attenuation of SH-wave propagating in a viscous sandy layer with corrugated upper and lower boundary surfaces sandwiched between an upper heterogeneous elastic half-space and lower viscoelastic half-space under gravity. Heterogeneity associated with the upper half-space is due to exponentially varying density which is a function of depth; but the rigidity is constant. The closed form of dispersion relation is established and found to be in complex form. Real part and imaginary part of the dispersion relation correspond to dispersion curve and attenuation curve, respectively. One of the salient points of present study is the use of DEBYE asymptotic expansion to establish that the obtained dispersion relation is in well-agreement with the classical Love wave equation in isotropic case. The effect of presence and absence of corrugated boundary surfaces, measured by initial flatness parameter, on dispersion and attenuation curves have been meticulously examined. Moreover, the substantial effect of heterogeneity, sandiness, internal friction, and Biot’s gravity parameter on phase velocity and attenuation coefficient of SH-wave has been studied and demonstrated by means of graphical illustration and numerical computations. This article delves to study the effect of corrugated boundary surfaces on the propagation of horizontally-polarized shear waves (SH-waves) in a magnetoelastic transversely isotropic layer under a hydrostatic state of stress lying over an elastic half-space under gravity. A dispersion equation has been derived in closed-form and is found to be in good agreement to the classical Love-wave equation. The effect of magnetoelasticity, hydrostatic state of stress, gravity, corrugation, position parameter, and undulation on the phase velocity of the SH-wave has been identified. Numerical computation along with graphical demonstration has been carried out for cadmium, magnesium, and zinc materials of hexagonal symmetry to highlight some significant facts. The present problem analytically investigates the possibility of Love-type wave propagation in a prestressed irregular composite layer lying between an upper prestressed heterogeneous isotropic layer of finite width and a lower prestressed isotropic half-space. The closedform expression of dispersion relation has been deduced and matched with the classical Love wave equation as a special case of the problem for its authenticity. The effects of size of irregularity, heterogeneity parameter of the uppermost layer, width ratio of layers, and horizontal prestresses, present in each of the media, on the dispersion curve are the prime outcome of the study. A comparative study made between the case in which a composite medium is present as an irregular sandwiched layer and the case in which an isotropic medium is present as an irregular sandwiched layer is one of the major highlights of the problem.
