Tamoxifen (Tmx) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator widely used as a chemotherapeutic drug in the treatment regimen for estrogen-sensitive breast cancer. Tmx treatment leads to many side effects; the most prominently reported side effect is hot flashes. Hot flashes are episodes of thermodysregulation and have been shown to be caused by estrogen-receptor α (ERα) signaling in the hypothalamus. In this thesis, we delivered a custom, bi-functional fluorescent reporter to three estrogen-sensitive nuclei in the hypothalamus that regulate body temperature: the medial preoptic area (MPA), the arcuate nucleus (ARC), and the ventrolateral region of the ventromedial hypothalamus (VMHvl). The reporter labels estrogen-sensitive neurons that express ERα and reports whether neurons alter estrogen-dependent gene transcription and expression in response to Tmx treatment. Upon delivering the fluorescent reporter to the three thermoregulatory and estrogen-sensitive regions of interest (the MPA, ARC, and VMHvl), we observed that Tmx treatment in Esr1 Cre and Kiss1 Cre mice showed no significant differences in ERE-dependent gene expression in the MPA, ARC, and VMHvl compared to control, Oil-treated mice. Therefore, we are unable to detect Tmx-induced changes in gene expression in estrogen-sensitive neurons of the MPA, ARC, or VMHvl. We conclude that Tmx does not alter estrogen-dependent gene expression in the hypothalamus under the conditions we used. As our Tamoxifen treatment paradigm is sufficient to induce thermodysregulation, this implies the intriguing possibility that Tamoxifen induces hot flashes without widespread changes in hypothalamic gene expression.

A relevant investigation was made to evaluate the methods used in a high school of the Tijuana city, located in the northwest of the Mexican Republic and is a border city, having a commercial and educative treatments with the California State of the United States of America (USA), sending and receiving students to increase the scholar yielding. This is important because can have more specialized knowledge and skills to when finish his professional studies of the university and go to works in industrial, commercial, health and other type of jobs, can solve fast and efficient complicated situations that sometimes persons with a lot experience can’t solve because need this specialized knowledge. In this scientific study made in 2022, was analyzed some tools of industry 4.0 as internet of things (IOT) to capacitate professors of some topics of mathematics topic using this innovation and entrepreneurship system to increase the capacity of teachers and with this the skills of students of a public university in this important city of Mexico

The use of computer systems in industrial operations as the biomedical industry located in the northwest of the Mexican Republic, is very relevant, because can control the specific parameters of the industrial products and industrial equipments, machinery and systems; used in the manufacturing process of this type of industries. And also, the use of methods to convince to workers to make his functions with the major quality, applying the internal marketing, is very interesting because is very important to obtain the major productivity and quality indices, and avoid errors and wrong process to not obtain defective products, which is necessary in sometimes the rework, generating economic losses in the biomedical industries, where is necessary strict values of the parameters in the industrial processes and in the manufactured products. In this investigation both actions originated an increase in the productivity and quality indices and with this economic gains, realizing this scientific study in 2022.

A scientific study was made to evaluate the crop yielding of the asparagus in the Mexicali Valley, as is part of the Mexicali city in the Baja California State, Mexico; being an arid zone, which is located in the northwest of Mexican Republic, and is a border region with the California State of the United States of America (USA), where asparagus is highly coveted in the nutritious diet of the population of these two states (Baja California-Mexico and California-USA). This investigation was made in two steps, being the first action an analysis with the evaluation of three parameters, being the soil pH, water pH utilized in the irrigation of the asparagus crop process and the electrical conductivity of soil and water, as the basic factors of the soil fertilization. In the first step was used utilized the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to evaluate as at microscopy level, the quality of soil, where was cropped the asparagus, and with this, obtain an increase of the fertilization action and increase the crop yielding of the asparagus. The second step action was an administrative method as analysis of the logistic process as administrative process to evaluate the supply chain of the harvest process, inspection, cleaning, packaging and distribution of asparagus grown in this agricultural area of our country. Only in the second step, were utilized mathematical algorithms to evaluate at detail these specific actions, obtaining an increase in the productivity and quality levels of this agricultural industry where was made this investigation in 2022.

The educational technology tools (ETT) are very relevant in the educational yielding of students of diverse educational levels in all place of the world. In this scientific study made reference to an evaluation in a medium high school that is located in Mexicali, analyzing the creativity and imagination of students of this educational level, correlating the use of ETT with the artistic concepts. In this modern city, are installed a lot quantity of schools of this level (public and private), and the teenagers of this age have a great contact with the technology, especially in the use of cell phones, computer systems and tablets, with diverse communication programs as Facebook, WhatsApp, as the basic application programs (app) or tools utilized to generate information or communicate between cell phones, computer systems or tablets. This investigation showed an increase in the use of the creativity and imagination of the students of the school where was made the scientific study, being made in 2022.

Individuals with disabilities are attending postsecondary institutions at higher rates than ever before, although many struggle to adjust in college environments. On one hand, higher education positively correlates with better employment outcomes, while on the other, higher edu-cation represents more stringent academic requirements and more diffused disability supports. One intervention used to check the ‘trauma’ of transition from high school to postsecondary education is mentoring. This article describes four successful mentorship programs, in various stages of maturity, which are currently funded by the National Science Foundation. The case studies describe the structure of each program, recruitment strategies, the students involved, and outcomes achieved to date. Implications or ‘lessons learned’ are also discussed to provide other important information and impetus for those anticipating such programs. INTRODUCTION Approximately 3 million individuals aged 5 to 15 years old and 24 million individuals aged 16 to 64 years old are experiencing disability in the United States, according the newest American Community Survey (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 2007). Of individuals with disabilities aged 16 to 64, 37.2% were employed and 30.7% lived below the pover-ty line (U.S. Bureau of the Census). These statistics are similar to those reported in 2005, when 38.1 percent of working age adults with disabilities reported working, with only 22.6 percent working full-time for the full year (StatsRRTC, 2005). Jones (1997) and Smith (2007) noted that people with disabilities continue to experience not-ably lower rates of employment than indi-viduals without disabilities and that targeted interventions are needed to impact these dis-crepancies. Mentoring is one example of an intervention that has been promoted for enhancing facili-tators and reducing barriers for successful educational and vocational opportunities for people with disabilities (Burgstahler, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008; Campbell-Whatley, 2001; Campbell-Whatley, Algozzine, & Obiakor, 1997; Jones, 1997; Kram & Isabella, 1985; Stumbo, Lindahl-Lewis, & Blegen, 2008). Mentoring for individuals with disabilities has been widely advocated, although not well-researched or documented (Coombs-Richardson, 2002; Powers, Sowers, & Ste-vens, 1995; Snowden, 2003; Stumbo et al.; Sword & Hill, 2003; Whelley, Radtke, Burgstahler, & Christ, 2003; Wilson, 2003). DuBois and Rhodes (2006), in establishing a national research agenda for youth mentor-ing, called for “best practice” program de-scriptions that produce positive outcomes. This article describes four related, but inde-pendent, mentoring programs for secondary and postsecondary students with disabilities. Descriptions on the overall structure, re-cruitment strategies, types of students in-volved, outcomes, and implications are pro-vided for these programs that promote the success of students with disabilities in science, technology, engineering, and ma-thematics (STEM) education and careers. En este trabajo se presenta un estudio sobre la síntesis, caracterización y actividad catalítica en la reacción de reducción de NO de sistemas bimetálicos de Cu-Fe/mordenita, obtenidos por el método de intercambio iónico en disolución acuosa. Los intercambios iónicos se realizaron de modo simultáneo (con disoluciones mixtas de Cu2+-Fe2+) y sucesivo (incorporando primero un catión y luego el otro). Los resultados mostraron que el intercambio iónico entre los cationes Cu2+ y Fe2+ en esta mordenita tiene un marcado carácter reversible, manifestado por el remplazo de hierro y cobre en las formas monometálicas, según corresponda, para obtener las formas bimetálicas. Dependiendo del orden de intercambio sucesivo practicado, en los sistemas bimetálicos predomina el porcentaje del metal que se intercambió en segundo orden. El intercambio de los cationes Cu2+ y Fe2+, realizado de forma simultánea con las disoluciones mixtas de estos cationes para obtener las formas bimetálicas, se favorece con el incremento de la fracción de volumen de la correspondiente disolución intercambiadora de cada catión. Todas las muestras monometálicas y bimetálicas de esta mordenita intercambiadas con cationes del cobre y hierro poseen un área superficial mayor que el área de la mordenita de partida no intercambiada. Los sistemas bimetálicos poseen una menor temperatura para la descomposición del 50 % de NO que el sistema monometálico Cu/MOR, indicando que la incorporación de hierro favorece la formación sitios activos para la catálisis a una menor temperatura y que la actividad catalítica es mayor en los sistemas bimetálicos. Los estudios de UV-vis y TPD indican la existencia de diferentes sitios para estabilizar el NO en la superficie de estos sistemas catalizadores. El comportamiento de la actividad catalítica sugiere la existencia de diferentes sitos activos para la catálisis, siendo asociada su mayor actividad a la presencia de cúmulos de iones de cobre y especies Cu-OFe, posiblemente en la forma de dímeros. La mayor actividad catalítica, con altos y estables porcentajes de conversión de NO para todo el intervalo de temperatura, corresponde a los sistemas bimetálicos obtenidos por intercambios sucesivos donde el Cu2+ fue incorporado como segundo catión, después del Fe2+. This paper presents a study on the synthesis, characterization and catalytic activity in the reduction reaction of NO bimetallic systems Cu/Fe/mordenite, obtained by the method of ion exchange in aqueous solution. The ionic exchanges were performed simultaneously (with mixed solutions of Cu2+ - Fe2+) and sucesive (incorporating a cation first and then the other). The results showed that the ion exchange between the cation Cu2+ and Fe2+ in this mordenite is markedly reversible, manifested by the replacement of iron and copper monometallic forms, as applicable, for bimetallic forms. Depending on the order of successive exchange practiced in bimetallic systems dominates the percentage of metal that was exchanged in the second order. The exchange of cations Cu2+, Fe2+ performed simultaneously with the mixed solutions of these cations to obtain bimetallic forms, is favored with increasing volume fraction of the appropriate dilution of each cationexchange. All samples monometallic and bimetallic this mordenite exchanged with cations of copper and iron have a larger surface area than the area of the starting mordenite not exchanged. Bimetallic systems have a lower temperature for the decomposition of 50 % of NO than the monometallic MORCu system, indicating that the incorporation of iron promotes the formation active sites for catalysis to a lower temperature and that the catalytic activity is higher in the bimetallic systems. Studies UV-vis and TPD indicate the existence of different locations to stabilize sites the NO in the surface of these catalyst systems. The behavior of the catalytic activity suggests the existence of different active sites for catalysis, being associated with its relatively high activity to the presence of copper ion clusters and Cu-O-Fe species, possibly in the form of dimers. The higher catalytic activity, with high and stable rates of conversion of NO to the entire temperature range, corresponding to bimetallic systems obtained by successive exchanges where the Cu2+ was incorporated as a second cation, after Fe2+.

RASEM/sup 2/, a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored project in New Mexico and west Texas, addresses the unequal representation of students with disabilities in science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines. Therefore, the authors commuted to an understanding of pre-college public education, which led to the establishment of K-16 initiatives including bridging programs, summer camps, teacher outreach, professional development, mentorships, and research. In addition, the New Mexico Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education together formed a K-16 partnership group to study and recommend effective strategies fostering quality teaching and learning in all levels of education. The primary author was selected as member of this group. Particularly interesting was the fostering of relationships between college and pre-college educators and the integration of methodologies pursuant 10 the K-16 partnership objectives. Most important involvement in the partnership fostered a K-12 outreach with the charge to better understand pre-college education.
