This paper examines the influence of related variety (RV) and unrelated variety (UV) on the basic variables of the labour market, i.e.: employment growth rates, increase in unemployment rates and real gross wages in the regional approach in Poland. The basic difference between the presented and the current research in this area is that the RV and the UV are introduced into the estimation taking into account the basic determinants of the analysed labour market variables resulting from simple economic models. Moreover, an attempt was made to determine the impact of the RV and the UV on real gross wages, which was not covered in the literature. The research was based on panel data for 16 Polish voivodships (NUTS2) and in the group of regions of Western Poland in the years 2004–2017 using SYS-GMM estimator of Dynamic Panel Data Model. In this paper, a significant positive impact of the RV on the rate of employment growth and wages was found, as well as a negative correlation between the RV and the increase in unemployment rates. On the other hand, the UV positively determined the increase in unemployment rates.

Autorzy w niniejszym artykule podejmują próbę oszacowania łącznej produktywności czynników produkcji (TFP) oraz analizują jej przestrzenne zróżnicowanie na poziomie wybranych grup powiatów w Polsce w latach 2003-2014. Ze względu na niemierzalność analizowanej zmiennej TFP oszacowano, opierając się na makroekonomicznej funkcji produkcji Cobba-Douglasa. Jednakże aby wyznaczyć TFP, w pierwszej kolejności autorzy dokonali dezagregacji PKB z poziomu województw na poziom powiatów. Analizę prowadzono w trzech zaproponowanych grupach: grupie powiatów grodzkich, grupie powiatów ziemskich o charakterze miejskim oraz w grupie powiatów ziemskich o charakterze wiejskim, dopuszczając zróżnicowanie elastyczności wydajności pracy względem technicznego uzbrojenia pracy w każdej z analizowanych grup. The authors of this paper attempt estimating the spatial variability of total factor productivity (TFP) at the level of selected groups of counties in Poland between the years 2003–2014. Due to the nonmeasurability of the analyzed variable, TFP was estimated by means of the Cobb–Douglas production macroeconomic function. However, in order to calculate TFP the authors disaggregated GDP from the level of voivodships to the level of counties. The analysis was carried out in three proposed groups: a group of city counties, a group of urban-featured land counties as well as in a group of rural-featured counties, assuming differentiation of flexibility in labor productivity towards technical capital-labor ratio in each analyzed group.

Celem pracy jest ocena zmian wydajności pracy w rolnictwie w Polsce w aspekcie zmian technicznego uzbrojenia pracy oraz postępu technicznego. Analizując wpływ technicznego uzbrojenia pracy oraz postępu technicznego na wydajność pracy w rolnictwie posłużono się neoklasyczną funkcją produkcji typu Cobba-Douglasa. Stwierdzono, że stopa postępu technicznego oraz stopa wzrostu uzbrojenia pracy w około 60% wyjaśnia zmiany stóp wydajności pracy w rolnictwie. Oszacowana stopa postępu technicznego w sensie Hicksa w analizowanym okresie wynosiła 2,04%, a elastyczność wydajności pracy w polskim rolnictwie względem technicznego uzbrojenia pracy w rolnictwie wyniosła 0,85.

Celem prezentowanego opracowania jest próba rozszerzenia neoklasycznego modelu wzrostu gospodarczego Solowa przez uchylenie założenia o stałej stopie inwestycji, wprowadzając funkcję inwestycji zależną sinusoidalnie od czasu. Przyjęcie sinusoidalnej funkcji inwestycji tłumaczyć można tym, iż inwestycje (podobnie jak produkcja) w dużej mierze zależne są od koniunktury gospodarczej, która podlega okresowym fluktuacjom. W analizie empirycznej autorzy dokonali kalibracji parametrów otrzymanego modelu. Bazując na danych panelowych dla krajów grupy Schengen w latach 2000-2013, najpierw oszacowano parametr (elastyczność produkcji względem kapitału) na poziomie 0,4, którego wartość przyjęto do dalszych analiz numerycznych. W drugim etapie dokonano symulacji numerycznych skalibrowanych ścieżek czasowych kapitału oraz produktu na jednostkę efektywnej pracy. Przy analizach numerycznych rozważano wpływ różnych stóp inwestycji (15%, 20%, 30%) oraz okresów wahań cyklicznych (4 lub 10 lat) na kształtowanie się owych ścieżek. Analiz numerycznych dla gospodarek grupy Schengen dokonano w 100-letnim horyzoncie czasowym. The aim of the present study is an attempt to extend the neoclassical model of economic growth of Solow by repealing the assumption of fixed investment and introducing an investment function dependent sinusoidally on the time. The adoption of the sinusoidal function of investment is substantiated by the fact that investments (like manufacturing) are largely depended on the economic situation, which is subject to periodic fluctuations. In the empirical analysis the authors conducted the calibration of parameters used by the research model. Based on panel data for the countries of Schengen group between the years 2000-2013 the α parameter (production flexibility in relation to capital) was estimated first at 0,4. That value was adopted to further numerical analysis. In the second stage the simulations of numerical, calibrated deviations of temporal cyclical path of capital-labour ratio (labor productivity) from the smooth path of capital-labour ratio (labor productivity) was performed. When conducting numerical analysis the impact of different investment rates (15%, 20%, 30%) and periods of cyclical fluctuations (4 or 10 years) have been considered in relation to the formation of these deviations. Numerical analysis for the economies of the Schengen group was made for one hundred time series.

Celem artykułu jest próba endogenizacji wybranych zmiennych rynku pracy takich jak wydajność pracy, płace realne brutto czy przyrost stóp bezrobocia w Polsce na poziomie powiatów w latach 2002-2011. Dokonano zatem analizy wpływu wybranych determinant na wyżej wymienione zmienne bazując na wnioskach wynikających z modeli teoretycznych takich jak: modele wzrostu gospodarczego, modelu płac efektywnościowych oraz, jak w przypadku przyrostu stóp bezrobocia, bezpośrednio z definicji stopy bezrobocia. Analizy prowadzono opierając się na danych panelowych z lata 2002-2011 dla wszystkich (wówczas) powiatów (379) Polski a także w wyodrębnionych grupach powiatów ziemskich (314) i grodzkich (65), wykorzystując metody ekonometrii przestrzennej - równania regresji z efektami indywidualnymi (fixed effect) i zmiennymi przełącznikowymi. Dane uzyskano z GUS, jak i bazowano na danych oszacowanych przez autorów. Przeprowadzone analizy wykazały, że przyjęte determinanty w badaniach empirycznych potwierdzają wnioski wynikające z rozważań teoretycznych, przy czym oszacowane parametry były zróżnicowane w zależności od przyjętej grupy oraz metody estymacji. Zatem wydajność pracy była determinowana przez techniczne uzbrojenie pracy, wyjściowy poziom łącznej produktywności czynników produkcji i przez stopę postępu technicznego. Względne płace realne brutto były objaśniane przez stopę bezrobocia i względną wydajność pracy. Przyrosty stopy bezrobocia wynikały zaś ze zmienności stóp bezrobocia notowanych w poprzednim roku i ze stopy wzrostu realnego PKB. The article seeks to endogenize selected labor market variables-such as labor productivity, real gross wages, and changes in the unemployment rate-for Poland at the county level in 2002-2011. The authors analyze the impact of a number of determinants on these variables. The study is based on conclusions resulting from theoretical models, including those of economic growth and a model of efficiency wages, as well as conclusions resulting directly from the definition of the unemployment rate. The analyses were carried out using panel data generated for all of Poland’s 379 counties as well as within selected groups of rural counties (314) and municipal counties (65) for a period from 2002 to 2011. Spatial econometric methods-regression equations with fixed effects and switching variables-were used for the analyses. The data were retrieved from Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), and the authors’ own estimates were also used. The results of the empirical research conducted in the paper confirmed conclusions resulting from theoretical considerations, the authors say. They add that the parameters estimated in the paper varied among the studied groups and methods of estimation. As expected, labor productivity, for example, depended on technical devices, total factor productivity, and the rate of technological progress, the authors note. Relative real gross wages were explained by the unemployment rate and relative labor productivity. The increase in the unemployment rate resulted from variations in unemployment rates recorded in the previous year and from real GDP growth, the authors say.

The aim of the paper is to analyze the determinants of labor productivity of the Polish counties between 2002 and 2009. The analysis was based on the transformation of the Cobb-Douglas production function. Thanks to this the labor productivity was determined by the technical progress and capital per employer ratio. The parameters of the model were estimated with the use of the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) techniques. Additionally, the authors described the regional diversification of labor productivity and capital per employer ratio in the Polish counties.

The authors present a statistical analysis of the feature convergence and divergence processes describing the situation on the labor markets in voivodships. The analysis was conducted based on CSO data on the poviat registered unemployment rates and real gross wages. The paper discusses the theoretical aspects of the processes of σ- and β-convergence and real divergence and presents an analysis of intra-regional differences in registered unemployment rates and real gross wages as well as o-process of convergence and divergence, and then estimates the parameters of ff-convergence and divergence equations of the analyzed features. The authors present a statistical analysis of the feature convergence and divergence processes describing the situation on the labor markets in voivodships. The analysis was conducted based on CSO data on the poviat registered unemployment rates and real gross wages. The paper discusses the theoretical aspects of the processes of σ- and β-convergence and real divergence and presents an analysis of intra-regional differences in registered unemployment rates and real gross wages as well as o-process of convergence and divergence, and then estimates the parameters of ff-convergence and divergence equations of the analyzed features.

This paper shows the results of statistical analysis of influence the growth rates GDP on the growth of the number of employees (employment rate) and the unemployment rate. It takes into consideration also the influence of the common currency (Euro)on the above-mentioned variable macroeconomic. The verification of conclusions consequential from theoretical models was made basing on the panel data for the 27 European Union countries in years 1990–2008.
