Research on factors related to job satisfaction in parents has mainly focused on work-related variables, paying less attention to family events that may provide parents with resources to invest in the work domain. To contribute to this body of knowledge, this study examined the associations between family meal atmosphere and job satisfaction in dual-earner parents with adolescent children, and tested the mediating role of family-to-work enrichment (FtoWE) between family meal atmosphere and job satisfaction. Questionnaires were administered to 473 different-gender dual-earner parents in Temuco, Chile. Participants answered the Project-EAT Atmosphere of family meals scale, three items that measure FWE from the Work-Home Interaction Survey, and the Overall Job Satisfaction Scale. Analyses were conducted using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model and structural equation modelling. A positive association was found from family meal atmosphere to job satisfaction, directly and via FtoWE in fathers, and only via FtoWE in mothers. No associations were found for these variables between parents, as, one parent's perception of a pleasant family meal atmosphere is positively associated with their own FtoWE and job satisfaction, but not with those of the other parent. This study identifies family profiles based on the level of life satisfaction (LS) in mothers, fathers and adolescents, and variables related to their family, food, and work life. The sample was composed of 303 families of dual-earner parents (mothers' mean age = 40.9 years, SD = 7.4, fathers' mean age = 43.2 years, SD = 7.2) and one of their children aged between 10 and 17 years (mean age 13.3, SD = 2.4, 51.5% female). A Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was used to identify five family profiles. Profiles differed in LS, satisfaction with family life (SWFaL), satisfaction with food-related life (SWFoL), family functioning, both parents' work-life balance and their perception of the financial situation of the household. Balanced and imbalanced families in terms of LS differed in the three family members' LS and SWFaL, mothers' and children' SWFoL and family functioning, and both parents' perception of financial situation. The study investigates the emotional dysregulation in teachers of the Chilean school system, focusing on gender and age similarities and differences. The sample included 1059 teachers from various regions of Chile, of whom 80.3% were female and 19.7% were male. Participants completed the Spanish version of the Difficulties in Emotional Regulation Scale (DERS-E). A confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to evaluate the structure of the theoretical model, along with the convergent, discriminant, and internal consistency of the instrument. Additionally, a measurement invariance analysis was performed to identify possible differences between demographic groups, which is crucial to ensure that comparisons between these groups are valid and unbiased. The results indicated that the theoretical model presents a good fit to the data and confirms the validity and reliability of the DERS-E. Scalar invariance was achieved among the analyzed groups. We found significant differences in emotional dysregulation between men and women, which also varied by teacher age. The importance of understanding the specific needs of teachers in terms of their emotional regulation is discussed and the urgency of implementing training programs that improve their emotional skills, fostering a positive and effective learning environment, is highlighted. Numerous studies have related socioeconomic status (SES), family structure, and family life cycle to adolescents' life satisfaction (LS). However, studies assessing the moderating role of these variables in the relationship between LS and domain-specific satisfaction are still limited. The present study examines life satisfaction in adolescents by testing the moderating roles of adolescents' family SES, family structure, and stage of family life cycle in the relationship between satisfaction with food-related life (SWFoL) and LS, and between satisfaction with family life (SWFaL) and LS. A sample of 473 adolescents (mean age 13.3 years, 51.8% female) in Chile responded to a questionnaire including the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Satisfaction with Food-related Life scale, and Satisfaction with Family Life scale. Using structural equation modeling, we found that adolescents' LS was positively related to SWFaL and SWFoL. Using a multi-group analysis, no moderating role of family SES was found. The relationship between SWFaL and LS was weaker in adolescents belonging to single-headed families and stronger in adolescents belonging to dual-headed families. The relationship between SWFoL and LS was lower in adolescents from families in the expansion stage (eldest child aged 6-14 years) and higher in adolescents from families in the consolidation stage (eldest child aged 15-24 years). The relationship between SWFaL and LS was stronger in adolescents from families in the expansion stage and weaker in adolescents from families in the consolidation stage. Within developmental psychology, pointing gestures have received a great deal of attention, while ostensive gestures have been overlooked in terms of their emergence and intentionality. In a longitudinal and micro-genetic study with six children at 9, 11, and 13 months of age, we codified gesture production of children within second-by-second data frames. We identified 480 instances of gestures and categorised whether they were of ostensive, ostensive-indexical, or indexical nature. We specified the communicative function of each gesture by analysing the object involved and their circumstances of production. Data analysis include frequencies, binomial tests, proportion comparisons, and repeated measures ANOVA. We identified a phatic function in other-directed gestures, as well as exploratory and private functions in self-directed gestures. This has important implications for child development since ostensive gestures are easier to produce and to understand than pointing. The consideration of objects would be essential for defining the communicative function of gestures.

This study explored the influence of each family member's life satisfaction on the other family members' life satisfaction in mother-father-adolescent triads. We also explored the influence of each family member's satisfaction with food-related life and family life on their own life satisfaction (LS) as well as on the other family members' LS in mother-father-adolescent triads. The influence of family eating habits, food-related parenting practices used by each parent and sociodemographic characteristics on each family member's LS were also explored. A survey was applied to a sample of 300 two-parent families with one child between 10 and 17 years of age in Temuco, Chile. The questionnaire included the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Satisfaction with Food-related Life scale, Satisfaction with Family Life scale, Adapted Healthy Eating Index, Family Food Behavior Survey and Family Eating Habits Questionnaire. Frequency and sources of family meals as well as sociodemographic characteristics were also consulted. Three multivariate ordinal logit models were proposed, with the dependent variable LS in the three subsamples: mothers, fathers and adolescents. The three logit models were significant, but differed in the explanatory variables. Mothers' LS was influenced by their children's LS and vice versa. Mothers' LS was positively influenced by both their own satisfaction with family life and the fathers' satisfaction with family life and vice versa. Children's LS was also positively influenced by their own satisfaction with food-related and family life. Both parents' LS was influenced by eating habits, food-related parenting practices and sociodemographic characteristics, but in different ways. This technical report describes a web-based platform for assessing school engagement in its three dimensions (emotional, behavioural and cognitive) and the contextual variables which influence engagement (family, teachers and peers). Students answer two questionnaires through the platform. Results are shown online through individual reports on students for teachers and psychosocial support teams, as well as the pupils themselves and their parents or guardians; it also provides aggregate reports by grade and school for teachers, psychosocial teams and school managers to assist in making contextualized and informed decisions. The technological platform for assessing school engagement was developed in Chile. It is based on specially designed and psychometrically validated instruments for measuring school engagement and contextual factors, and on a tool for predictive modelling of student behaviour and contextual factors. The platform is currently being adjusted and tested for use in other Ibero-American countries (Peru, Uruguay, Colombia and Spain)

This study explores the relationship between food-related parenting practices, satisfaction with food-related life and satisfaction with family life in mothers-adolescent children dyads with different family structures. We assessed the relationships between satisfaction with food-related life and life satisfaction as well as the relationship between satisfaction with family life and life satisfaction in mothers and their children. A questionnaire was applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 300 married or cohabiting mothers and 170 single mothers and one of their children between 10 and 17 years of age in Temuco, Chile. The questionnaire included the Family Food Behaviour Survey (FFBS), Satisfaction with Life Scale, Satisfaction with Food-related Life scale, and the Satisfaction with Family Life scale. Using principal component factor analysis in the mothers subsample, three components were detected on the FFBS: 'Maternal control of child snacking behaviour', 'Maternal presence during eating' and 'Child involvement in food consumption'. Using confirmatory factor analysis, the three factor-structure of the FFBS was validated in mothers and children subsamples of both family structures. Using structural equation modelling, we found that maternal presence was positively related to food-related and family life satisfaction in mothers and children of both family structures. A positive relationship was found between child involvement and food-related and family life satisfaction in married or cohabiting mothers. A negative relationship was found between child involvement and family life satisfaction in children of single mothers. We also found that mothers and children life satisfaction was related to satisfaction with family life and food-related life in both family structures.
