Background: Teleconsultations have gained prominence as a viable method for delivering medical services remotely. In oral radiology, the ability to interpret radiographic images accurately is crucial for diagnosing and treating various dental conditions. The use of teleconsultations in this domain holds promise for extending specialized care to patients who are geographically distant from dental healthcare facilities., Materials and Methods: A total of 50 patients' oral radiographic images were collected for analysis in this study. These images were obtained from diverse geographical locations, showcasing the applicability of teleconsultations. Two groups of dental professionals, one conducting in-person evaluations and the other performing remote interpretations through teleconsultations, participated in the study. The radiographic findings were assessed for concurrence between the two groups. Statistical analysis included the calculation of P values to determine the level of agreement between the in-person and teleconsultation interpretations., Results: The results of this study revealed a substantial level of agreement between in-person and teleconsultation interpretations of oral radiographic images. The calculated P values indicated a statistically significant concordance between the two evaluation methods ( P < .05). The European Space Agency launched CryoSat-2 as the first European ice mission in 2010. Its advanced altimeter met primary objectives concerned with sea ice thickness and ice sheets. The value of Cryosat-2 data over global oceans was recognised, and operational products were developed via the CryoSat Ocean Processor (COP). The novel orbit of CryoSat-2 results in a denser coverage of sample points compared to other satellite altimeters. The National Oceanography Centre Sea Level Anomaly (NOCSLA) gridded product is based on interpolating Geophysical Ocean Products (GOP) using weights in space and time. GOP represents the highest quality operational ocean data. NOCSLA is a daily, ¼° sea level anomaly product covering non-coastal oceans between [60°N 60°S] and January 2011 to October 2020. The paper presents the methodology and scientific applications of NOCSLA. Oceanographic features observed are compared against products from other missions, including Rossby waves and El Niño signals. Periodontal disease is caused by specific pathogens which results in inflammation of the tooth-supporting structures and subsequently causes the continued breakdown of alveolar bone and periodontal ligament. Licorice ( Glycyrrhiza glabra ) is a perennial herb with substantial medicinal value. Licorice extract is derived from dried, unpeeled stolons and roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis and G. glabra . The bioactive ingredients in licorice extract such as glycyrrhizin, licoricidin, glabridin, licochalcone A, and licorisoflavan A have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-adherence effects that are beneficial against periodontal disease. Since periodontal disease has a complex etiology that includes the host response and microorganisms, licorice phytochemicals offer a therapeutic advantage due to their dual functionality. The aim of this review was to enumerate the bioactive compounds present in herbal licorice extract and to elucidate the beneficial effects of licorice and its derivatives in periodontal therapy. A cysteine proteinase inhibitor has been purified by affinity chromatography from the liver of buffalo. Liver cystatin is subjected to incubation at low pH with co-solvent TFE, where we have studied the effect on the conformation, activity and tendency to form aggregates or fibrils. ANS fluorescence was used to study conformational changes. The fibril formation and aggregation was studied using ThT assay, CD, FTIR and fluorescence spectroscopy. At pH 3.0 there was no fibril formation though aggregates were formed but in presence of TFE fibrils appeared. At pH 2.0 and 1.0, TFE induced rapid fibril formation compared to only acid induced state as assessed by Thioflavin T (ThT) fluorescence.TFE stabilized each of the three acid induced intermediates at predenaturational concentrations (20%) and accelerated fibril formation. Solvent conditions had a profound effect on the tendency of liver cystatin to produce fibrils and aggregation.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Cadmium (Cd) as a heavy metal damages testis and decreases fertility, however, antioxidants can improve sperm parameters and decrease male infertility. In this study we investigated the effect of astaxanthin (AST) on sperm parameters, expression levels of CatSper1 and CatSper2 genes in presence of Cd in mice. Thirty adults' mice were divided into 4 groups, sham group received olive oil and saline (olive oil is the solvent of AST and saline is the solvent of Cd), Cd group received 1 mg/kg Cdcl 2 , a group received 10 mg/kg AST and 1 mg/kg Cdcl 2 and a group received 10 mg/kg AST. The treatments were done intraperitoneally for 14 days. After 14 days sperm parameters were analyzed. Malondialdehyde level, catalase enzyme activity, the alteration of CatSper1 and CatSper2 genes expression were measured in testis. Results showed that Sperm count, viability, CatSper1 gene expression and catalase activity significantly decreased by Cd compared to sham group. Cd significantly increased sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF), abnormal sperm morphology and malondialdehyd level compared to sham group. AST significantly increased sperm count, viability and CatSper1 gene expression and decreased SDF and abnormal sperm in comparison with Cd group. AST protected testis and decreased oxidative stress induced by Cd. Our findings indicated that AST could protect sperm DNA, enhanced CatSper1 gene expression and sperm quality in presence of Cd. No significant differences were found in CatSper2 expression among treatments. This study aimed to compare dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and positive psychotherapy (PPT) effects on perceived stress (PS) and quality of life (QOL) among patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Seventy six eligible patients with a Rome- IV diagnosis were randomly allocated in DBT (n = 18), MBCT (n = 20), PPT (n = 18), and control groups (n = 20). All the patients were evaluated for PS by perceived stress scale (PSS) and QOL by irritable bowel syndrome quality of life (IBS-QOL) on the studied groups at the time of their inclusion in the study and 8 weeks after it. Each of the intervention groups took part in 8 group sessions. Conversely, the control group were evaluated without any intervention. 46 female and 27 male in 4 groups completed the study. The results showed significant differences between the groups based on the variables of the PSS and IBS-QOL (p < 0.05). In addition, levels of PS were significantly lower for the MBCT intervention compared with the other groups; besides, the significant effects of the QOL variables represented the higher scores of the PPT compared to the treatment groups. The interventions could not be generalized to other samples. Some other limitations included the lack of conducting a follow-up plan. This study provides initial evidence that MBCT and PPT are more effective than other treatment groups on PS decrease and QOL improvement among patients with IBS, respectively.

The unique abilities of homo-oligo-adamantyl peptides to adopt α- and γ-turn conformations are demonstrated by X-ray diffraction, and NMR and FT-IR absorption spectroscopies. Assembled by an Ugi multiple component reaction strategy, N α -formyl-adamantyl tripeptide iso-propyl and tert -butyl amides are respectively found to adopt an isolated α-turn and an incipient γ-helix conformation by X-ray diffraction crystallography. The shortest example of a single α-turn with ideal geometry is observed in the crystalline state. In solution both peptides predominantly assume γ-helical structures.

Peptide mimicry employing a combination of aza-amino acyl proline and indolizidinone residues has been used to develop allosteric modulators of the prostaglandin F2α receptor. The systematic study of the N-terminal phenylacetyl moiety and the conformation and side chain functions of the central turn dipeptide residue has demonstrated the sensitive relationships between modulator activity and topology. Examination of aza-Gly-Pro and aza-Phe-Pro analogs 2a and 2b in a murine preterm labor model featuring treatment with lipopolysaccharide demonstrated their capacity to extend significantly (>20 h) the average time of delivery offering new prototypes for delaying premature birth.

Specific learning disorder (SLD) can occur along with the problems of attention performance and be complicated by them. Recent studies have reported the positive effects of cognitive rehabilitation (CR) and neurofeedback (NFB) on sustained attention (SA) in SLD. Nevertheless, it has not yet been determinedwhat kind of treatment may be the most appropriate option for this disorder in terms of the different functions of cognitive status, especially SA. This preliminary study aimed to compare CR and NFB effects on SA among elementary school students with SLD using a randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT). Fifty- three eligible students with a DSM-5 SLD diagnosis, aged 7-10, were randomly allocated in NFB (n = 18), CR (n = 18), and control groups (n = 17). All the participants were evaluated for SA by performing the continuous performance test (CPT) on the studied groups at the time of their inclusion in the study and 7 weeks after it. The intervention groups took part in 20 sessions of CR and 20 sessions of NFB. Conversely, the untreated group were evaluated without any intervention.15 boys and 30 girls in 3 groups completed the study (n = 15 per group). The mean and standard deviation of participants' age were (8.66 ± 1.48) years, (8.40 ± 1.73) years and (8.53 ± 1.63) years in CR, NFB and untreated groups, respectively. The results showed significant differences between the groups based on the variables of the CPT test (p < 0.05). Also, the significant effects of the variables represented the higher scores of the CR compared to the NFB group (p < 0.001). This study provides einitial evidence that CR is more effective than NFB on SA improvement among students with SLD.

Background: Hypercholesterolemia is a modifiable risk factor in atherosclerosis with a complex association with inflammation., Objective: In the present study, the association between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and interleukin 17A (IL-17A), as an inflammatory cytokine, was investigated. In addition to IL-17A, serum levels of interleukin 23 (IL-23) and transforming growth factor β (TGF-β), as effective cytokines in T helper 17 cell (Th17) development, were also determined., Method: Cytokine levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in healthy subjects with LDL-C<130 versus LDL-C=>130 mg/dL., Results: Although IL-17A is an inflammatory cytokine and a positive association between its levels and LDL-C is expected, the data obtained in this study provide support for a reverse association ( p <0.05)., Conclusion: Inflammation plays a major role in atherosclerosis development; however, various inflammatory components involved in atherosclerosis assert their own unique association with hypercholesterolemia.

Senescence is cellular growth arrest. Induction of senescence can be considered as an alternative approach for treating cancer cells being resistance to anti-cancer drugs. We investigated the effect of caffeine and chk2 inhibitor on doxorubicin induced senescence in MCF-7 cells. Caffeine and chk2 inhibitor were used in combination with doxorubicin. Cellular senescence was assessed by β-galactosidase assay. P21 expression was determined using immunoblotting. Cell proliferation was evaluated using prestoblue assay. Results revealed that doxorubicin induced senescence and increased p21 expression in MCF-7 cells. However, co-treatment of chk2 inhibitor and caffeine with doxorubicin could not augment doxorubicin-induced senescence. Moreover, p21 expression was decreased in combination studies compared to doxorubicin group. Our results indicate that caffeine, chk2 inhibitor and combination of chk2 inhibitor, caffeine and doxorubicin could not increase sensitivity of the cells to doxorubicin-induced senescence. Our findings demonstrate that low-dose doxorubicin induced senescence via the activation of ATM, -chk2, and -p21 pathways, while inhibition of ATM and chk2 cannot consider as a new target for sensitization of MCF-7 cells to doxorubicin. Thus, chk2 inhibitor and caffeine might not serve as desirable agents being capable to restore chemo sensitivity in doxorubicin-resistant breast tumors., (© Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart · New York.)

Background: Oncology nurses play a crucial role in cancer pain management and must be highly informed to ensure their effective practice in the cancer setting. The aim of this study was to determine the baseline level of knowledge and attitudes of oncology nurses regarding cancer pain management., Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey research design was employed. The sample comprised 58 cancer nurses working in Shahid Sadoughi hospital, Yazd, Iran. The ''Nurses Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain'' (NKAS) tool and a demographic form were utilized to ascertain the knowledge and attitudes of oncology nurses working in oncology settings., Results: The average correct response rate for oncology nurses was 66.6%, ranging from 12.1% to 94.8%. The nurses mean score on the knowledge and attitudes survey regarding pain management was 28.5%. Results revealed that the mean percentage score overall was 65.7%. Only 8.6% of nurse participants obtained a passing score of 75% or greater. Widespread knowledge deficits and poor attitudes were noted in this study, particularly regard pharmacological management of pain., Conclusions: The present study provides important information about knowledge deficits in pain management among oncology nurses and limited training regarding pain management. Our results support the universal concern of inadequate knowledge and attitudes of nurses regarding cancer pain. It is suggested educational and quality improvement initiatives in pain management could enhance nurses knowledge in the area of pain and possibly improve practice.

Aim: The effectiveness of the management of preterm birth remains an important health care issue, especially when considering that more than two thirds of singleton neonatal death occurs in preterm labor. The purpose of this study was to compare oral celecoxib with intravenous magnesium sulfate as tocolytic., Methods: This was a randomized study of patients who were between 24 and 34 weeks of gestation with preterm labor. One hundred and four pregnant women with preterm labor were randomly assigned to receive celecoxib 100 mg b.i.d. for 48 h or intravenous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) for maximum of 48 h. Outcome variables included delay of delivery for 48 h and the incidence of side-effects. Data was analyzed using the Student t-test and the chi(2) test., Results: There was no difference between the groups over the course of the study in demographic characteristics, cervical examination and amniotic fluid index. Labor was arrested for 48 h was in 42 (81%) and 45 (87%) of the patients in the celecoxib and magnesium sulfate groups, respectively (p-0.298). There were no severe maternal or neonatal complications in either group., Conclusion: Celecoxib is as effective as magnesium sulfate for primary tocolysis.
