The main purpose of this study was to holistically understand the role of empowerment in urban poverty eradication of the Indian community in the urban areas of the Klang Valley, Malaysia. The poverty eradication effectiveness was tested by analysing community empowerment domains and MyKasih programme run by a non-governmental organisation. There are numerous studies conducted to understand the issues of poverty in Malaysia. However, few studies have so far focused on the minority community in Malaysia. Moreover, there is no recent study to test the effectiveness of any governmental or NGO's poverty eradication efforts on this minority community. This study utilised a qualitative approach and an in-depth interview was used to gather the data. Abstract Economic violence represents a state of control over an individual capacity to obtain, utilize and keep up economic assets. The current study investigates the prevalence of economic violence among women of the socioeconomically backward Muslim minority community by taking a sample of 387 women from rural areas of North India within a framework of domestic violence. It is shown that economic violence against Muslim women perpetrated by their husbands exists in India. Economic violence adversely affects Muslim women’s access to health services, educational attainment, social mobility, and employment opportunities. Our findings indicate that among the components of economic violence experienced by women, the tendency of employment sabotage is higher compared to economic control and economic exploitation. Clearly, there is a need for a special focus on improving minority community women’s access to developmental opportunities.

The popularity of computer-mediated communication and cyber technology has created many new vices in society that obstruct the development of adolescents. One such vice is cyberbullying, which is an insidious and covert form of bullying. The present paper opts to scrutinise cyberbullying's psychological effects on the victim teenagers of minority communities of a cosmopolitan city. Confirmatory factor analysis, for testing the Psychological Effect of Cyberbullying Scale (PECS) comprising 24 direct item pool, was employed to unfold Mild Psychological Effect Scale (MPES) and Intense Psychological Effect Scale (IPES). Cross validating the initial factor structure was conducted with the help of developing standardised coefficient for the two factor model for PECS. Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient values are above 0.09 for the items of both the Mild Psychological Effect Scale (MPES) and Intense Psychological Effect Scale (IPES). Based on purposive sampling, the study found that all the items taken for conducting the survey are highly co-related to the psychological impact of the victim teens of the minority community of the cosmopolitan city. So the PECS developed for measuring the effect has significance. Study results also indicate that the PECS can serve as a valuable tool for measuring the mental impact of cyberbullying among teenagers.

Diaspora studies on migration communities have shown how these transnational groups appropriate the new space in the receptive country through a process of deterritorialization and reterritorialization. These processes involve a reinterpretation and reconceptualization of the linguistic relationship between the language of the diaspora group and those spoken in the new home. One of the most visible places where this contextual relation must be negotiated is in the public sphere, where language, culture and identity are inevitably interwoven (Blackwood, Lanza & Woldemariam, 2016). Using a multimodal approach and using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, this article analyzes how an Ecuadorian-American community in Queens transformed the linguistic landscape of their surroundings to make it similar to what this community had in their home country. Thailand is multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation. Islam is the second largest religion after Buddhism in the kingdom of Thailand. Thai Muslims belong to different communal groups and each group has particular history and ethnicity. The purpose of the research mainly elucidates the history, life style and identity of the diverse ethnic groups of Siamese Muslims. It also analysis, how the Islam came in Thailand, including how the Muslim community transformed in different times and periods with different cultures and identities under different Monarchies in the kingdom. A qualitative method of research is used, while explanatory research design has been applied. The Research paper deeply emphasis the socio-cultural arrangements of the Thai Muslim community and the response of the state and society of Thailand. The socio-cultural design qualitatively expounds the living style, traditions, norms and values of Thai Muslim community and its identity in the diverse communal outlook of Thailand. South Africa is well known as a country characterised by racial and ethnic divisions, particularly for the divisions and conflicts between the white population and black population. This study uses the Twitter platform to analyse the discourse around the controversial town of Orania, a minority Afrikaner community that aims to preserve their Afrikaner culture. In doing so, we make use of sentiment analysis, a subfield of natural language processing (NLP). We follow a lexicon-based approach using four different publicly available data sets to test how the discourse around this minority community can be analysed. We show, based on the discourse on Orania on Twitter, that (1) Orania is mostly depicted in a negative light, (2) Orania is mostly seen as a racist community, and (3) Orania is often mentioned in reference to other issues that affect Afrikaners directly, such as farm attacks, first language education and land expropriation without compensation. Our study also shows that using lexicons as a sentiment analysis technique was not sufficient in the automatic detection of abusive language, but rather the sentiment of the tweet. Suggestions are made for further research that focuses on the automatic detection of abusive language online.
