Successful pregnancy depends on precise molecular regulation of uterine physiology, especially during the menstrual cycle. Deregulated oxidative stress (OS), often influenced by inflammatory changes but also by environmental factors, represents a constant threat to this delicate balance. Oxidative stress induces a reciprocally regulated nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2/peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (Nrf2/PPARγ) pathway. However, increased PPARγ activity appears to be a double-edged sword in endometrial physiology. Activated PPARγ attenuates inflammation and attenuates OS to restore redox homeostasis. However, it also interferes with physiological processes during the menstrual cycle, such as hormonal signaling and angiogenesis. This review provides an elucidation of the molecular mechanisms that support the interplay between PPARγ and OS. Volunteering in the advancing years has received abundant attention amongst the ageing population. A mini review of past studies on the key concepts of volunteerism with regard to the research area on the well-being of OAs and the types of evidence available is conducted. Developing and implementing the search strategy for this review occurred in two stages: the search was conducted at the university's digital library and using manual search. A total of 17 articles were included in the final literature review. The current study reviews the effect of volunteering on various health outcomes such as emotional health, physical health, levels of happiness and life satisfaction, purpose in life, and greater feelings of personal control.

This paper presents a mini-review of recent works in Salient Object Detection (SOD). First, We introduce SOD and its application in image processing tasks and applications. Following this, we discuss the conventional methods for SOD and present several recent works in this category. With the start of deep learning AI algorithms, SOD has also benefited from deep learning. Here, we present and discuss Deep learning-based SOD according to its training mechanism, i.e., fully supervised and weakly supervised. Introduction: Pneumonia is a severe respiratory disease threatening public health and requires timely and accurate diagnosis and early intervention for effective treatment. The emergence of telemedicine during COVID-19 has offered new solutions to solve health problem. This review examines recent studies focusing on effectiveness of telemedicine intervention in pneumonia care. Methods: We systematically searched five databases to retrieve original research that addressed telemedicine's use in pneumonia diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, or patient assistance. Two independent reviewers performed screening to confirm alignment with inclusion criteria. The findings were synthesised narratively. Results: A total of five studies were included in the review. The interventions across studies were telephonic follow-ups, Smartphone-based algorithm for diagnosing pneumonia, telemedicine set-up at patients' homes and Interactive videoconferencing. The findings suggest that telephone consultation is effective for patients with low-risk respiratory infections and may be more effective in early diagnosis of pneumonia patients. Conclusion: The planning for work in telemedicine, whether in regulations or private practice, is necessary to ensure the quality, safety, and consistency of telemedicine practices. The use and availability of telemedicine services, especially in rural areas and on mobile phones, must be expanded to reduce problems in the region.

Quinoxalines are an important group of N-heterocyclic compounds, which are present in a variety of natural and synthetic compounds possessing physicochemical properties and pharmacological activities. Since the earliest studies, their unique properties have led the chemical community, to embrace the challenge of synthesizing new Quinoxalines. This bioactive moiety can act as a versatile building block intermediate in synthesizing novel heterocyclic scaffolds and is considered as prime focus in medicinal chemistry research. This review aims to highlight the recent synthetic strategies and various routes employed to design and synthesize quinoxalines. Initially, we have discussed the classical methods of synthesis followed by modern methods and green methods, with an overview pertaining to their structure-activity-relationship (SAR). We entrust that, this mini review will offer a broad perspective and insights among the readers in the development of new quinoxalines scaffolds with rich bio-potent applications. As an environmental tax, carbon tax aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable development through economic means. Internationally, the carbon tax has gone through stages such as independent operation, slow growth, and coordination with carbon trading. The practices of carbon tax in countries like Switzerland demonstrate that carbon tax contributes to the 'green tax shift' between climate improvement and reduced income tax. However, the development of carbon tax has been slow in developing countries, and there is a lack of international carbon tax dispute adjustment mechanisms. This article provides an overview of the development of carbon tax systems and proposes guiding principles for the establishment of China's carbon tax system: the imposition of carbon tax in China should adopt supplementary and progressive policies, first integrating it into environmental protection taxes, and then gradually transitioning to an independent carbon tax category. It is also crucial to set carbon tax revenue elements reasonably, such as tax rates, tax bases, and tax incentives. Meanwhile, China should actively participate in international coordination on carbon tax relations to jointly address the challenges of climate change. Through the imposition and implementation of carbon tax, China could achieve its goals of peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, thus promoting green and low-carbon development. IntroductionShift work can lead to sleep disturbances and insomnia during the sleeping period, as well as excessive sleepiness and fatigue during the waking period. While Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-i) is recommended as the first line of treatment for insomnia, key elements of CBT-i, such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, can be challenging for shift workers, highlighting the need for tailored sleep interventions. This mini review provides a narrative synthesis of non-pharmacological sleep interventions for shift workers and informs the development of a preventative, multicomponent sleep management programme.MethodAn informal review was conducted in line with Phase 1 of the Framework for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions.ResultsA variety of strategies have been employed to help manage the impacts of shift work on sleep, including: CBT-i, adjusting shift schedules, controlled light exposure, sleep hygiene education, planned napping, caffeine consumption, and mind-body interventions (e.g., yogic relaxation).DiscussionRecommendations, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed; notably, the role of the family, the commute to and from the workplace, and the eating behaviors of employees appear to have been overlooked in current intervention efforts. Digital CBT-i platforms could help to provide an effective, scalable, and low-cost method of reducing insomnia in shift workers.

The concept of extraction socket healing has been severally researched and reported over the years, since tooth extraction remains one of the most common procedures performed in the dental clinic. Understanding this healing process is of utmost importance because the outcome has a direct bearing on future prosthetic rehabilitation and, by extension, on patients' esthetics and masticatory function, among others. This mini review, therefore, summarized the current knowledge on the different stages of socket healing, including the biologic and clinical events that occur following tooth extraction up until the complete closure of the socket. Additionally, the modeling of the alveolar bone/process post extraction, and the resultant dimensional changes that, altogether, shape the bone, were reviewed and documented. The effects of various socket preservation interventions to mitigate these dimensional changes, and therefore preserve the alveolar process in a condition suitable for future prosthetic rehabilitation, were highlighted. The primary pharmacological action of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors is to inhibit the reabsorption of glucose and sodium ions from the proximal tubules of the kidney and to promote urinary glucose excretion. Notably, several clinical trials have recently demonstrated potent protective effects of SGLT2 inhibitors in patients with heart failure (HF) or chronic kidney disease (CKD), regardless of the presence or absence of diabetes. However, the impact of SGLT2 inhibitors on sudden cardiac death (SCD) or fatal ventricular arrhythmias (VAs), the pathophysiology of which is partly similar to that of HF and CKD, remains undetermined. The cardiorenal protective effects of SGLT2 inhibitors have been reported to include hemodynamic improvement, reverse remodeling of the failing heart, amelioration of sympathetic hyperactivity, correction of anemia and impaired iron metabolism, antioxidative effects, correction of serum electrolyte abnormalities, and antifibrotic effects, which may lead to prevent SCD and/or VAs. Recently, as possible direct cardiac effects of SGLT2 inhibitors, not only inhibition of Na+/H+ exchanger (NHE) activity, but also suppression of late Na+ current have been focused on. In addition to the indirect cardioprotective mechanisms of SGLT2 inhibitors, suppression of aberrantly increased late Na+ current may contribute to preventing SCD and/or VAs via restoration of the prolonged repolarization phase in the failing heart. This review summarizes the results of previous clinical trials of SGLT2 inhibitors for prevention of SCD, their impact on the indices of electrocardiogram, and the possible molecular mechanisms of their anti-arrhythmic effects.

Atypical spatial organization and temporal characteristics, found via resting state electroencephalography (EEG) microstate analysis, have been associated with psychiatric disorders but these temporal and spatial parameters are less known in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). EEG microstates reflect a short time period of stable scalp potential topography. These canonical microstates (i.e., A, B, C, and D) and more are identified by their unique topographic map, mean duration, fraction of time covered, frequency of occurrence and global explained variance percentage; a measure of how well topographical maps represent EEG data. We reviewed the current literature for resting state microstate analysis in ASD and identified eight publications. This current review indicates there is significant alterations in microstate parameters in ASD populations as compared to typically developing (TD) populations. Microstate parameters were also found to change in relation to specific cognitive processes. However, as microstate parameters are found to be changed by cognitive states, the differently acquired data (e.g., eyes closed or open) resting state EEG are likely to produce disparate results. Perinatal Anxiety (PNA) is defined as anxiety occurring during pregnancy and up to 12 months post-partum and is estimated to affect up to 20% of women. Risk factors for PNA are multiple and can be classed as psychological, social and biological. PNA negatively impacts on the mother, child and family. PNA is not well-recognized and diagnosis of PNA can be challenging for clinicians. There is currently no validated case-finding or diagnostic test available for PNA. PNA has been less extensively researched than perinatal depression (PND). Clinical guidance currently recommends pharmacological and psychological therapies for the management of women with PNA, however the limited research available suggests that other intervention types may also be effective with some evidence on the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions in primary care for PNA. This article provides a mini-review of PNA, summarizing current evidence around PNA including risk factors, the impact of PNA, the process of diagnosis of PNA and focussing predominantly on available management options for PNA.

The existence of single-father families formed by surrogacy is becoming a more visible reality, even though this type of family organization is still perceived with stigma and negative attitudes by more traditional sectors of society, because it raises some concerns regarding the psychosocial well-being of children who are born into single-fathers' families via surrogacy, and in many cases, to gay single men who wish to become fathers. On the other hand, available research on the psychosocial well-being of these children is still very scarce and limited to a handful of Western countries. Hence, it is of utmost importance to examine studies that explore the psychosocial adjustment of these children. In this mini review, I show that all the studies revised demonstrate the good psychosocial adjustment of these children, and that they are as likely to flourish as children born into traditional families, even if they may find themselves exposed to prejudice and stigma. In conclusion, single fatherhood and surrogacy do not contribute to any adverse consequences to the children's psychosocial development and adjustment, and there is no observed evidence to why single men, irrespective of their sexual orientation, should not be fathers via surrogacy. This mini review focuses on the direct relationship between maternal ACEs and child developmental delay, and potential mediators/moderators that associate their relationship. Six studies were identified using three search engines. The results indicated that four out of six studies reported at least one significant direct association between maternal ACEs and child development. Additionally, maternal biological, psychological, and social factors were identified as mediators or moderators. In summary, we identified that maternal ACEs increased the risk of developmental delay in children via biological and psychosocial pathways. Depressive disorders are among the most common psychiatric conditions and contribute to significant morbidity. Even though the use of antidepressants revolutionized the management of depression and had a tremendous positive impact on the patient's outcome, a significant proportion of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) show no or partial or response even with adequate treatment. Given the limitations of the prevailing monoamine hypothesis-based pharmacotherapy, glutamate and glutamatergic related pathways may offer an alternative and a complementary option for designing novel intervention strategies. Over the past few decades, there has been a growing interest in understanding the neurobiological underpinnings of glutamatergic dysfunctions in the pathogenesis of depressive disorders and the development of new pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options. There is a growing body of evidence for the efficacy of neuromodulation techniques, including transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcutaneous direct current stimulation, transcranial alternating current stimulation, and photo-biomodulation on improving connectivity and neuroplasticity associated with depression. This review attempts to revisit the role of glutamatergic neurotransmission in the etiopathogenesis of depressive disorders and review the current neuroimaging, neurophysiological and clinical evidence of these neuromodulation techniques in the pathophysiology and treatment of depression. Approximately a third of children and adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) experience significant irritability; despite this, no study has reviewed whether interventions for youth with ADHD can improve irritability. This mini review sought to address this gap in the literature by discussing existing pharmacological and psychosocial interventions for irritability among children and adolescents with ADHD. A literature search was conducted in April 2021, with a total of 12 intervention articles identified (six pharmacological, one psychosocial, five combined). Studies were excluded if they did not involve an intervention, a measure of irritability, or the population was not youth with ADHD. Of these articles, two were with an ADHD only sample; seven included ADHD with comorbid disruptive behavior, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), or severe mood dysregulation (SMD); and three included ADHD with comorbid autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Findings suggest that central nervous system stimulants used alone or in combination with behavior therapy are effective at reducing irritability in youth with ADHD only or comorbid ADHD and DMDD/SMD. Less evidence was found for the efficacy of guanfacine and atomoxetine for youth with ADHD only or comorbid ADHD and ASD. Parent training alone or in combination with atomoxetine was found to be effective at reducing irritability in youth with comorbid ADHD and ASD. Future research assessing the efficacy of other psychosocial interventions, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy is necessary, as are randomized trials assessing intervention sequencing and intensity among youth with ADHD. Researchers are advised to utilize well-validated measures of irritability in future research.

Intolerance of uncertainty (IU) is generally known as emotional, cognitive, and behavioral reactions to ambiguity situations. Several studies have considered the intolerance of uncertainty as a common factor across all of emotional disorders. The intolerance of uncertainty has two important dimensions: prospective and inhibitory. Each dimensions is also involved in a specific disorder. Due to important role of IU at development and maintenance of emotional disorders, clinicians sought to treat it. Finally, changes in IU can be contributory to recovery of various emotional disorder symptoms in transdiagnostic treatment. In this study, we have tried to address the importance of intolerance to uncertainty, investigate its place in the development and maintenance of emotional disorders and the implications for the treatment of this structure for professionals.

The Mini Review technique was chosen for this.
