Objectives The association between screen time and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been controversial. This study sheds light on the contentious correlation between screen time and ADHD. Content Until August 2022, electronic searches of the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases were carried out. The combined effect value odds ratios (OR) and 95 % confidence interval (95 % CI) were calculated for the meta-analysis using Stata 12.0. There were 81,234 children in the nine studies that made up this meta-analysis which included 28,997 children with ADHD and 52,237 healthy controls. When compared with the screen time Summary and outlook Based on the current meta-analysis results, our study found a positive correlation between screen time and the risk of ADHD. Excessive screen exposure may significantly contribute to the development of ADHD in children. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce screen time per day in children to prevent the occurrence of ADHD.

Objectives The association between copper levels and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been a controversial topic. This study investigated relationship between copper levels and ASD. Content The following databases are searched until April 2022: PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science. Combined effect size standardized mean differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were calculated with Stata 12.0. In this meta-analysis, 29 case-control studies were included, which included 2,504 children with ASD and 2,419 healthy controls. The copper levels in hair (SMD: −1.16, 95% CI: −1.73 to −0.58) was significantly lower in ASD children than healthy controls. The copper levels in blood (SMD: 0.10, 95% CI: −0.12 to 0.32) not significantly compare ASD with controls. Summary and outlook Copper may be associated with the development of ASD in children.

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) packed in the column have been a promising candidate as the stationary phase for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). However, the direct packing of irregular MOF powder could raise some problems like high back pressure and low column efficiency in the HPLC separation. In this work, UiO-66 capable of separating xylenes was supported effectively on the surface of the monodisperse spherical silica microspheres by one-pot method. The hybridization of UiO-66 and silica microspheres (termed UiO-66@SiO2 shell–core composite) was prepared by stirring the suspension of the precursors of UiO-66 and COOH terminated silica in the N,N-dimethylformamide with heating. The shell–core composite material UiO66@SiO2 was characterized by SEM, TEM, PXRD and FTIR. Then, it was used as a packing material for the chromatographic separation of xylene isomers. Xylene isomers including o-xylene, m-xylene and p-xylene were efficiently separated on the column with high resolution and good reproducibility. Moreover, the UiO-66@SiO2 shell–core composites packed column still remained reverse shape selectivity as UiO-66 possessed, and the retention of xylenes was probably ascribed to the hydrophobic effect between analytes and the aromatic rings of the UiO-66 shell. The UiO-66@SiO2 shell–core composites obtained in this study have some potential for the separation of structural isomers in HPLC.

Objective This study aimed to report our experience in superior vena cava (SVC) resection and reconstruction for 22 thymic tumor patients and to make comparisons with previous related reports. Methods A retrospective study on 22 patients (15 thymomas, 7 thymic cancers) who underwent tumor resection with concomitant SVC reconstruction. All the patients underwent vascular conduit reconstruction by the cross-clamping technique. The corresponding data were reviewed, including clinical presentation, operation management (surgery procedure, selection of suitable graft, strategies against SVC syndrome, etc.), postoperative cares (antithrombotic agent application, treatments on brain edema, etc.), and follow-up information. Result Two patients were myasthenic, well controlled by oral pyridostigmine. All resections were radical (R0). Ten patients received induction treatment. All the 15 thymoma patients were Masaoka stage III (type B1–B3). As for thymic cancer, six patients were Masaoka stage III and one was stage IVa. Wedge pulmonary resection was performed in three patients (two right upper lobe, one both upper lobe). Procedures included were single graft replacement in 12 patients, bilateral grafts in 9, and Y-shaped graft in 1 patient. Anticoagulation and dehydration agents were routinely applied after operation. No perioperative mortalities were observed. Major complication rate was 9.1%. The median survival time was 44.2 months (range, 4–92 months). Three- and 5-year overall survival rates were 80.8 and 44.0%, respectively. As for conduit patency, two grafts (9.1%) demonstrated evidence of occlusion during long-term follow-up, but no additional interventions were required due to no complications related. Conclusion Our study, confirming data from existing literature, showed that the prosthetic reconstruction of the SVC system is a feasible additional procedure during resection of thymic tumor infiltrating the venous mediastinal axis, minimally increasing postoperative complications in experienced hands.

Object: This study aimed to report our experience in setting up the new health management model after medical examination in our center for those examinees with risk factors of ASCVD and in need of some supervision. Method: 259 examinees enrolled underwent medical examination, ASCVD risk assessment, health education and management. Health education consisted of individual and group, and management characterized in integration of medicine and nursing, connection with the clinical, intervention in grades, combination of offline and online management and periodical evaluation. After 15 moths, comparison was made in the following aspects: ASCVD awareness rate, cardiovascular health condition, lifestyle (diet, exercise, diet, etc.), biochemical indicators (fast blood sugar, HbAlc, cholesterol, LDL, etc) and ASCVD risk. Result: ASCVD related disease awareness was raised significantly, diabetes from 6.56% to 14.29, hypertension from 30.50% to 43.24% and hyperlipidemia from 3.47% to 37.07%, as well as cardiovascular health condition with its score from 8.67±2.19 to 9.66±2.01. Healthy lifestyle was basically built, with diet standard-reaching rate from 22.78% to 45.95%, exercise standard-reaching rate from 20.85% to 62.93% and average daily tobacco consumption volume from 13.27±5.63 cigarettes down to 10.49±5.35 (P>0.05). Robust low-rank matrix completion (RMC), or robust principal component analysis with partially observed data, has been studied extensively for computer vision, signal processing and machine learning applications. This problem aims to decompose a partially observed matrix into the superposition of a low-rank matrix and a sparse matrix, where the sparse matrix captures the grossly corrupted entries of the matrix. A widely used approach to tackle RMC is to consider a convex formulation, which minimizes the nuclear norm of the low-rank matrix (to promote low-rankness) and the l1 norm of the sparse matrix (to promote sparsity). In this paper, motivated by some recent works on low-rank matrix completion and Riemannian optimization, we formulate this problem as a nonsmooth Riemannian optimization problem over Grassmann manifold. This new formulation is scalable because the low-rank matrix is factorized to the multiplication of two much smaller matrices. We then propose an alternating manifold proximal gradient continuation (AManPGC) method to solve the proposed new formulation. The convergence rate of the proposed algorithm is rigorously analyzed. Numerical results on both synthetic data and real data on background extraction from surveillance videos are reported to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed new formulation and algorithm over several popular existing approaches.

L-arabinose and D-galactose could be released during the hydrolysis process of Arabic gum. The development of a crystallization process of L-arabinose is highly dependent on the knowledge of the solubility of both saccharides. In this work, the solubility of L-arabinose and D-galactose in binary mixtures of methanol-water or ethanol-water (mole fraction of water ≤0.5816) was determined at temperatures between 278.15 and 333.15 K by a static equilibrium method. The experimental data correlated well with the modified Apelblat equation, the simplified polynomial empirical equation, NRTL model and UNIQUAC model. Additionally, the thermodynamic properties including the dissolution enthalpy and entropy were obtained from the experimental data. Within the studied temperature range, the dissolution is endothermic and the dissolution process is non-spontaneous.

Prupose This study aims to explore risk factorsassociated with ocular ischemia syndrome (OIS) in patients with late stage carotid artery occlusion (CAO). Methods Eighty-seven patients with CAO were enrolled and examined via patient history questionnaire, carotid duplex ultrasonography,transcranial doppler sonography (TCD) and eye examination (slit lamp, ophthalmoscopes). Introduction of Ag(i) ions into a sulfonic acid functionalized MOF ((Cr)-MIL-101-SO3H) significantly enhances its interactions with olefin double bonds, leading to its much higher selectivities for the separation of C2H4-C2H6 and C3H6-C3H8 at room temperature over the original (Cr)-MIL-101-SO3H and other adsorbents at room temperature.

A metal-organic framework immobilized with Ag(i) sites, namely, (Cr)-MIL-101-SO3Ag, was successfully developed as a highly efficient desulfurization adsorbent because of the strong binding of these Ag(i) sites for thiophene derivatives.

One of the most important clinical applications of hydroxyapatite (HA) is as a coating on metal implants, especially plasma-sprayed HA coating applied on Ti alloy substrate. However, the poor bonding strength between HA and Ti alloy has been of concern to orthopedists. In this paper, an attempt has been made to enhance the bonding strength of HA coating by forming a composite coating with Ti. The bioactivity of the coating has also been studied. HA/Ti composite coatings were prepared via atmospheric plasma spraying on Ti-6Al-4V alloy substrates. The bond strength evaluation of HA/Ti composite coatings was performed according to ASTM C-633 test method. X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy were applied to identify the phases and the morphologies of the coatings. The bioactivity of HA/Ti composite coating was qualified by immersion of coating in simulated body fluid (SBF). The obtained results revealed that the addition of Ti to HA improved the bonding strength of coating significantly. In the SBF test, the coating surface was covered by carbonate-apatite, which was testified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscope, indicating good bioactivity for HA/Ti composite coating. The bioactivity of the coating has not been reduced by the addition of Ti.
