Abstract The combination of macrocyclic chemistry with co-crystal engineering has promoted the development of materials with vapochromic behaviors in supramolecular science. Herein, we develop a macrocycle co-crystal based on hybrid[4]arene and 1,2,4,5-tetracyanobenzene that is able to construct vapochromic materials. After the capture of benzene and toluene vapors, activated hybrid[4]arene-based co-crystal forms new structures, accompanied by color changes from brown to yellow. However, when hybrid[4]arene-based co-crystal captures cyclohexane and pyridine, neither structures nor colors change. Interestingly, hybrid[4]arene-based co-crystal can separate benzene from a benzene/cyclohexane equal-volume mixture and allow toluene to be removed from a toluene/ pyridine equal-volume mixture with purities reaching 100%. In addition, the process of adsorptive separation can be visually monitored. The selectivity of benzene from a benzene/cyclohexane equal-volume mixture and toluene from a toluene/ pyridine equal-volume mixture is attributed to the different changes in the charge-transfer interaction between hybrid[4]arene and 1,2,4,5-tetracyanobenzene when hybrid[4]arene-based co-crystal captures different vapors. Moreover, hybrid[4]arene-based co-crystal can be reused without losing selectivity and performance. This work constructs a vapochromic material for hydrocarbon separation.

ObjectiveTo assess the effectiveness of acupuncture for treating depression and anxiety in patients diagnosed with functional dyspepsia (FD).MethodsPubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang Data, Sinomed, and VIP Database were searched until April 30, 2023 for Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) comparing acupuncture to placebo or drugs for symptom alleviation. Two independent reviewers conducted the study search, data extraction, and bias risk assessment using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Mean difference (MD), risk ratio (RR), and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were computed. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were also performed. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system was employed to evaluate the evidence level.ResultsA total of 16 RCTs involving 1315 participants were included. Acupuncture demonstrated marked superiority over placebo (MD = -7.07, 95%CI: -11.03 to -3.10, very low quality evidence) in mitigating Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) scores and was found to be more effective in reducing Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) scores than either placebo (MD = -4.63, 95%CI: -6.28 to -2.98, low quality evidence) or first-line drugs (MD = -2.71, 95%CI: -5.19 to -0.23, very low quality evidence). In terms of attenuating Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) scores, acupuncture consistently outperformed both placebo (HAMA: MD = -2.58, 95%CI: -4.33 to -0.83, very low quality evidence; HAMD: MD = -1.89, 95%CI: -3.11 to -0.67, low quality evidence) and first-line drugs (HAMA: MD = -5.76, 95%CI: -10.18 to -1.35, very low quality evidence; HAMD: MD = -5.59, 95%CI: -7.59 to -3.59, very low quality evidence). However, no significant difference was observed between acupuncture and placebo in terms of improvement in Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) scores.ConclusionsBased on current clinical evidence, acupuncture might have a positive effect on depression and anxiety in patients with FD. Further large-sample, multi-center, high-quality RCTs validation are required, as the conclusion is limited by the quantity and quality of the included studies.

AbstractBackground The mortality rate of patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is high, and there is a need for early identification of SA-AKI patients with poor prognoses. This study investigated the relationship between the lactate dehydrogenase to serum albumin ratio (LAR) and prognosis in patients with SA-AKI.Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients with SA-AKI who are represented in the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV). We used multivariable Cox regression analysis to determine adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Subgroup analysis, survival curves, and curve fitting were used to evaluate a connection between the LAR and prognosis in patients with SA-AKI.Results There were a total of 6453 participants in this research. The average age of the participants was 63.9 ± 16.1 years, and the average LAR was 11.0 (7.6, 17.7)/IU/g. Objectives Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease associated with ageing. However, actual age does not accurately reflect the degree of biological ageing. Phenotypic age (PhenoAge) is a new indicator of biological ageing, and phenotypic age minus actual age is known as phenotypic age acceleration (PhenoAgeAccel). The hard Flint limestone of Shuibuya hydropower station underground construction cavern is utilized as a research object to investigate the creep problem caused by excavation of rock masses such as caverns. In order to perform a triaxial compression grade-unloading creep test, the actual adjustment path of stress during excavation of underground cavern surrounding rock is used. Limestone under different confistiff pressures is then evaluated. Based on the Nishihara model, the elastic damage element considering time-dependent damage is introduced, and the unloading creep constitutive model of stiff Flint limestone is established and verified by experiments. The results show: 1) Deformation and creep strain appear at all stress levels. 2) As the unloading amount increased from 2 to 4 MPa, the quasi-destructive stresses of the samples were smaller from 83 to 79 MPa, indicating that the unloading amount affected the final creep damage strength of the rock samples. In other words, the higher the unloading amount, the lower the ultimate creep failure strength. 3) When entering the accelerated creep stage, the axial and lateral creep strains of the sample increase non-linearly, and the rupture duration of the sample is very short. Therefore, the creep deformation and creep rate characteristics of this stage should be paid attention to in practical engineering. 4) Different from the loading stress path, the failure mode of the Flint limestone rock sample is different. When the unloading amount is 2 and 4 MPa, the creep failure mode of the Flint limestone rock sample is shear failure, showing a significant oblique section crack. 5) The non-linear creep model curve of aging damage and the fitting effect of the unloading creep test curve are acceptable. The rationality of the established non-linear creep model is illustrated.

Summary: Research on material synthesis is mostly performed through batch by batch testing with each corresponding to a set of parameters and a reaction time. Concurrent experiments that allow for multiple loadings throughout an inhomogeneous reaction zone provide a way to obtain high-throughput results. Here, a time-space conversion method is proposed. By sequentially passing a number of identical objects through a reaction zone, a significant diversity of reactions in one batch can be achieved depending on the spatial distribution and changes with time of the reaction zone. In particular, when the reaction zone is steady, the evolution of a reaction can be associated with the objects at their corresponding reaction stage. This greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of research on material synthesis kinetics. This method may initiate a new wave of material synthesis research and accelerate the development of material science.
