The goal of this paper is to prove the well-posedness of F. John's floating body problem in the case of a fixed object and for unsteady waves, in horizontal dimension $d=1$ and with a possibly emerging bottom. This problem describes the interactions of waves with a partially immersed object using the linearized Bernoulli equations. The fluid domain $\Omega$ therefore has corners where the object meets the free surface, which consists of various connected components. The energy space associated with this problem involves the space of traces on these different connected components of all functions in the Beppo-Levi space $\dot{H}^1(\Omega)$; we characterize this space, exhibiting non local effects linking the different connected components. We prove the well-posedness of the Laplace equation in corner domains, with mixed boundary conditions and Dirichlet data in this trace space, and study several properties of the associated Dirichlet-Neumann operator (self-adjointness, ellipticity properties, etc.). This trace space being only semi-normed, we cannot use standard semi-group theory to solve F. John's problem: one has to choose a realization of the homogeneous space (i.e. choose an adequate representative in the equivalence class) we are working with. When the fluid domain is bounded, this realization is obtained by imposing a zero-mass condition; for unbounded fluid domains, we have to choose a space-time realization which can be interpreted as a particular choice of the Bernoulli constant. Well-posedness in the energy space is then proved. Conditions for higher order regularity in times are then derived, which yield some limited space regularity that can be improved through smallness assumption on the contact angles. We prove a weighted a priori energy estimate for the two dimensional water-waves problem with contact points in the absence of gravity and surface tension. When the surface graph function and its time derivative have some decay near the contact points, we show that there is corresponding decay for the velocity, the pressure and other quantities in a short time interval. As a result, we have fixed contact points and contact angles. To prove the energy estimate, a conformal mapping is used to transform the equation for the mean curvature into an equivalent equation in a flat strip with some weights. Moreover, the weighted limits at contact points for the velocity, the pressure etc. are tracked and discussed. We consider the two-dimensional capillary-gravity water waves problem where the free surface $\Gamma_t$ intersects the bottom $\Gamma_b$ at two contact points. In our previous works \cite{MW2, MW3}, the local well-posedness for this problem has been proved with the contact angles less than $\pi/16$. In this paper, we study the case where the contact angles belong to $(0, \pi/2)$. It involves much worse singularities generated from corresponding elliptic systems, which have a strong influence on the regularities for the free surface and the velocity field. Combining the theory of singularity decompositions for elliptic problems with the structure of the water waves system, we obtain a priori energy estimates. Based on these estimates, we also prove the local well-posedness of the solutions in a geometric formulation.

With the development of artificial intelligence and the widespread use of deep learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision (CV) can also be used to solve more problems in life, including meme generation. An Internet meme commonly takes the form of an image and is created by combining a meme template (image) and a caption (natural language sentence). In our project, we propose an end-to-end encoder-decoder architecture meme generator. For a given input sentence, we use the Meme template selection model to determine the emotion it expresses and select the image template. Then generate captions and memes through to the meme caption generator. Code and models are available at github

Quark-antiquark pair (or dijet) production at the electron-ion collider (EIC) has been argued to be one of most important processes that allowing to access the Weizs\"acker-Williams (WW) gluon distributions at small $x$ limit. Within the framework of Color Glass Condensate (CGC) effective field theory (EFT), we calculated the dijet cross sections and the azimuthal correlations by including the Sudakov resummations, numerical results shown that the back-to-back correlations are significantly suppressed when the Sudakov resummations are taken into account. In addition, by using the solutions of running-coupling Balitsky-Kovchegov (rcBK) equation, the unpolarized and linearly polarized WW gluon distributions both in coordinate and momentum space are presented., Comment: A few typos corrected, some references added

Based on the $H^2$ existence of the solution, we investigate weighted estimates for a mixed boundary elliptic system in a two-dimensional corner domain, when the contact angle $\om\in(0,\pi/2)$. This system is closely related to the Dirichlet-Neumann operator in the water-waves problem, and the weight we choose is decided by singularities of the mixed boundary system. Meanwhile, we also prove similar weighted estimates with a different weight for the Dirichlet boundary problem as well as the Neumann boundary problem when $\om\in(0,\pi)$., Comment: 26 pages

For small volume of the quark-gluon plasma formed in heavy ion collisions, the observable near criticality must obey finite-size scaling. According to the finite-size scaling, there exists a fixed point at the critical temperature, where scaled susceptibility at different system sizes intersect. It also exists at the transitional temperature of a first order phase transition and can be generalized to the region of the crossover. In order to quantify the feature of the fixed point, we introduce {\it the width of a set of points}. When all points in the set are in their mean position within error, the width reaches its minimum, and all points merge into the fixed point. Using the observable produced by the Potts model, we demonstrate that the contour plot of the width defined in this study clearly indicates the temperatures and exponent ratios of fixed point, which could correspond to either the critical point, the points on the transition line, or the crossover region. Here we address the challenge of profiling causal properties and tracking the transformation of chemical compounds from an algorithmic perspective. We explore the potential of applying a computational interventional calculus based on the principles of algorithmic probability to chemical structure networks. We profile the sensitivity of the elements and covalent bonds in a chemical structure network algorithmically, asking whether reprogrammability affords information about thermodynamic and chemical processes involved in the transformation of different compound classes. We arrive at numerical results suggesting a correspondence between some physical, structural and functional properties. Our methods are capable of separating chemical classes that reflect functional and natural differences without considering any information about atomic and molecular properties. In this review we address to what extent computational techniques can augment our ability to predict toxicity. The first section provides a brief history of empirical observations on toxicity dating back to the dawn of Sumerian civilization. Interestingly, the concept of dose emerged very early on, leading up to the modern emphasis on kinetic properties, which in turn encodes the insight that toxicity is not solely a property of a compound but instead depends on the interaction with the host organism. The next logical step is the current conception of evaluating drugs from a personalized medicine point-of-view. We review recent work on integrating what could be referred to as classical pharmacokinetic analysis with emerging systems biology approaches incorporating multiple omics data. These systems approaches employ advanced statistical analytical data processing complemented with machine learning techniques and use both pharmacokinetic and omics data. We find that such integrated approaches not only provide improved predictions of toxicity but also enable mechanistic interpretations of the molecular mechanisms underpinning toxicity and drug resistance. We conclude the chapter by discussing some of the main challenges, such as how to balance the inherent tension between the predictive capacity of models, which in practice amounts to constraining the number of features in the models versus allowing for rich mechanistic interpretability, i.e. equipping models with numerous molecular features. This challenge also requires patient-specific predictions on toxicity, which in turn requires proper stratification of patients as regards how they respond, with or without adverse toxic effects. In the framework of Color Glass Condensate (CGC) effective field theory (EFT), we calculate two-gluon rapidity correlations in the leading and sub-leading orders of $p_\perp/Q_s$. In the leading order, both short- and long-range rapidity correlations are enhanced. In contrast, the contribution of sub-leading order is mainly short range quantum correlations. It is much smaller than that of the leading one, but is not negligible. Transverse momentum dependence of rapidity correlation shows that the leading order is sensitive to the saturation momentum of two incident particles, but the sub-leading one is not., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures

We study the two dimensional water waves problem with surface tension in the case when there is a non-zero contact angle between the free surface and the bottom. In the presence of surface tension, dissipations take place at the contact point. Moreover, when the contact angle is less than $\pi/6$, no singularity appears in our settings.
