Organic additions help improve soil biophysical qualities, but they are insufficient to supply nutrient demand and could result in unintentional nutrient immobilization in soils, particularly soils with low fertility status. A 16-week laboratory incubation study was conducted to determine how the method of application of compost and inorganic fertilizers influence microbial respiration, nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) mineralization. Topsoil (500 g, 0–15 cm) was amended with compost (0, 5, and 10 g kg−1) and either inorganic N (50 kg N ha−1) or P (30 kg P ha−1). Two soil amendment strategies, applying compost and inorganic fertilizer separately to opposite sides of the soil using a divider and mixing them evenly throughout the soil, were compared for their effects on microbial activity and nutrient mineralization. The cumulative amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) evolved were measured fortnightly using the static CO2 absorption method and inorganic N and P mineralization. N mineralization was unaffected by the method of compost and inorganic fertilizer application (p >.05), while at the end of day 42, available P in separate applications of compost and mineral N fertilizers was 33% greater than combined applications. Compost and inorganic P fertilizer had favorable N priming effects, but compost and inorganic N had negative effects. The different N priming effects of compost and inorganic N and P fertilizers may be attributable to microbial nutrient demand. Soil organic carbon (SOC) plays an important role in maintaining or increasing soil fertility and quality in paddy field, but there is limited information about how SOC mineralization responds to different fertilizer managements under the double-cropping rice system in southern China. Therefore, this study was designed to explore changes in SOC content, soil enzyme activities, SOC mineralization at 0–10 cm and 10–20 cm layers, and its relationship with long-term fertilizer managements in a double-cropping rice system of southern China. The experiment included four fertilizer treatments: chemical fertilizer alone (CF), rice straw and chemical fertilizer (RS+F), 30% organic manure and 70% chemical fertilizer (OM+F), and without fertilizer input as a control (Con). These results showed that SOC and labile organic carbon contents at 0–10 cm and 10–20 cm layers in paddy field with RS+F and OM+F treatments were increased, compared to CF and Con treatments. Compared with Con treatment, SOC mineralization rate and accumulation with CF, RS+F, and OM+F treatments were increased. SOC accumulation and potential mineralization at 0–10 cm and 10–20 cm layers with RS+F and OM+F treatments were increased, compared with CF and Con treatments. SOC mineralization rate and accumulation at 0–10 cm layer with CF, RS+F, OM+F, and Con treatments were higher than that of 10–20 cm layer. These results indicated that soil invertase, cellulose and urease activities in paddy field with RS+F and OM+F treatments were significantly higher than that of CF and Con treatments. There was a significant positive relationship between SOC accumulation and SOC content, soil invertase, cellulose, urease activities but were significant negative correlated with soil pH, bulk density. As a result, these were beneficial practices for improving SOC content and SOC mineralization in a double-cropping rice field of southern China by combined application of rice residue or organic matter with chemical fertilizer managements. Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) offers a viable solution to reduce the carbon footprint in the petroleum industry, and foam injection presents a promising method to achieve this while simultaneously increasing oil recovery. In this work, we studied the feasibility of CO2 foam for co-optimizing enhanced oil recovery and CO2 storage in a high-salinity carbonate formation. The simulated hydrodynamic model is a depleted formation containing 30% residual oil, with three mechanisms for CO2 storage: solubility, residual, and mineralization trapping mechanisms. The results showed that after 20 years, oil recovery during foam injection was 2.7 times higher than CO2 injection, and the CO2 stored during foam flooding was 38% higher than CO2 injection. Notably, foam injection also increased CO2 storage capacity by 2.6 times, indicating the potential to store around 2 gigatons of CO2 in the simulated model. This was attributed to the ability of foam to significantly reduce gas mobility and thus form isolated bubbles through its Jamin effect. Residual trapping was the dominant trapping mechanism, contributing to over 70% of the total CO2 trapped, attributed to the reduction in the dissolution of CO2 in brine due to the high salinity of the aqueous medium. CO2 mineralization was also studied, showing the least trapping efficiency and the dissolution trend of all the carbonate minerals. This study illustrates a novel CO2 utilization and storage technique in which CO2 is concurrently sequestered while enhancing oil recovery in a depleted oil reservoir by injecting CO2 as foam. The relevance of this study lies in its potential to provide a dual benefit of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and boosting oil production, offering a sustainable approach for the petroleum industry. The repair of hierarchical osteochondral defects requires complex gradient reconstruction at different levels, with continuous‐gradient mineralization being crucial. Strategies for achieving continuous‐gradient mineralization have rarely been reported. Here, a continuous‐gradient mineralized hydrogel is prepared using simple gravitational osmosis of a ≈2 nm amorphous calcium phosphate nanocluster (ACPC) suspension into composite organic frameworks for osteochondral regeneration. During gravitational infiltration, ACPC underwent gradual mineralization, resulting in the spontaneous formation of hydroxyapatite (HAP). The continuous‐gradient mineralized hydrogel aligned closely with the normal osteochondral structure, thereby effectively promoting repair of the cartilage and subchondral bone. In the cartilage layer, organic compounds improved the oxidative stress environment induced by injury and complemented the extracellular matrix of the cartilage. In the subchondral bone layer, HAP from the continuously mineralized hydrogel induced intracellular calcium accumulation in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), activating calcium/calmodulin‐dependent protein kinase 2 (CaMK2) and promoting osteogenic differentiation of MSCs through the calcium signaling pathway. Ultimately, compared with the nongradient hydrogel, this innovative gradient mineralization method exhibited significantly enhanced regeneration capabilities for osteochondral defects, as evidenced by metrics, such as bone volume/tissue volume (BV/TV), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), and trabecular number (Tb.N). While many studies note the positive effects of soil organic matter (SOM) on crop yields, there is limited quantitative information on the influence of increased SOM on potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) productivity in sandy soil. This study estimated the impact of varying SOM on potato productivity in sandy soils and explored whether nitrogen (N) mineralization served as a primary mediator. Soil from nine fields in Wisconsin (SOM range of 1.1%–3.8%) was collected for a greenhouse study. Both NH4-N and NO3-N extracted from ion strips and potentially mineralizable nitrogen (PMN) were used as the proxies for N mineralization. Linear mixed effect models indicated that fresh matter whole biomass and dry matter vine biomass were 0.45 and 0.54 times greater at 3.8% SOM compared to 1.1% SOM at an optimal soil pH of 5.2, respectively. Similarly, total N uptake in the whole and vine biomass was 0.51 and 1.0 times higher at 3.8% SOM than 1.1% SOM, respectively. While PMN demonstrated a positive correlation with SOM, it only partially mediated the effect of SOM on productivity, specifically in N uptake in the vines. However, for most productivity measures, including PMN with SOM in the models did not substantially reduce the estimated SOM effect on productivity, indicating that SOM affected productivity mostly through mechanisms other than N acquisition by plants available through mineralization of OM. Mesenchymal stromal stem cells (MSCs) or skeletal stem cells (SSCs) play a major role in tissue repair due to their robust ability to differentiate into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, and adipocytes. Complex cell signaling cascades tightly regulate this differentiation. In osteogenic differentiation, Runt‐related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) and ALP activity are essential. Furthermore, during the latter stages of osteogenic differentiation, mineral formation mediated by the osteoblast occurs with the secretion of a collagenous extracellular matrix and calcium deposition. Activation of nuclear factor erythroid 2‐related factor 2 (NRF2), an important transcription factor against oxidative stress, inhibits osteogenic differentiation and mineralization via modulation of RUNX2 function; however, the exact role of NRF2 in osteoblastogenesis remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that NRF2 activation in human bone marrow‐derived stromal cells (HBMSCs) suppressed osteogenic differentiation. NRF2 activation increased the expression of STRO‐1 and KITLG (stem cell markers), indicating NRF2 protects HBMSCs stemness against osteogenic differentiation. In contrast, NRF2 activation enhanced mineralization, which is typically linked to osteogenic differentiation. We determined that these divergent results were due in part to the modulation of cellular calcium flux genes by NRF2 activation. The current findings demonstrate a dual role for NRF2 as a HBMSC maintenance factor as well as a central factor in mineralization, with implications therein for elucidation of bone formation and cellular Ca2+ kinetics, dystrophic calcification and, potentially, application in the modulation of bone formation. The possibility of catalysis by VO2+, Cr3+, Cr2O72–, Mn2+, MnO4–, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Ce3+, BrO3–, or IO3– ions of oxalic acid oxidation reaction with ozone in strongly acidic aqueous solutions at pH 0.3–1.7 has been studied. The final product of the oxidation is carbon dioxide. The kinetic regularities of the reaction have been determined from the rates of ozone consumption and carbon dioxide release. Without a catalyst, oxalic acid does not interact with ozone. It has been found that Mn2+, MnO4– and Co2+ ions are effective catalysts, while the catalytic effect of VO2+, Cr3+, Cr2O72–, Fe3+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Ce3+, BrO3–, or IO3– is weak or does not manifest itself at all. The effects of acidity and concentrations of the catalyst in solution and ozone in the gas phase on the kinetics of the process have been studied. Kinetic schemes of catalytic reactions and leading intermediates are proposed. The casein composition, salt composition, and micelle size varies substantially between milk samples of individual animals. In goats, the links between those casein characteristics are unknown and could provide useful insights into goat casein micelle structure. In this study, the casein and salt composition of 42 individual Dutch goats from 17 farms was studied and linked to casein micelle size. Micelle size, the proportions of individual caseins, and protein content were associated with one another. Milk with smaller casein micelles was higher in protein content, salt content, and proportion of α s1 -CN, but lower in α s2 -CN and β-CN. The higher salt content in milk with small casein micelles was mainly attributed to a higher protein content, but changes in casein composition might additionally contribute to differences in mineralization. The nonsedimentable casein content in goat milk correlated with nonsedimentable fractions of β-CN and κ-CN and was independent of micelle size. Between large and small casein micelles, goat casein micelles showed more differences in casein and salt composition than bovine micelles, indicating differences in internal structure. Nevertheless, the casein mineralization in goat milk was similar to casein mineralization in bovine milk, indicating that mineralization of casein micelles follows a general principle. These results can help to better understand how composition and micelle structure in goat milk are related to each other, which may be useful to improve processing and product properties of goat milk in the future. Chondrocyte hypertrophic differentiation is a main event leading to articular cartilage degradation in osteoarthritis. It is associated with matrix remodeling and mineralization, the dynamics of which is not well characterized during chondrocyte hypertrophic differentiation in articular cartilage. Based on an in vitro model of progressive differentiation of immature murine articular chondrocytes (iMACs) into prehypertrophic (Prehyp) and hypertrophic (Hyp) chondrocytes, we performed kinetics of chondrocyte differentiation from Prehyp to Hyp to follow matrix mineralization and remodeling by immunofluorescence, biochemical, molecular, and physicochemical approaches, including atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy associated with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM–EDS), attenuated total reflection infrared analyses, and X-ray diffraction. Chondrocyte apoptosis was determined by TUNEL assay. The results show the formation of a mineral phase 7 days after Hyp induction, which spreads within the matrices to form poorly crystalline carbonate-substituted hydroxyapatite after 14 days, then the proportions of crystalline relative to amorphous content increases over time. Hyp differentiation also induced a matrix turnover that occurs over the first 7 days, characterized by a decrease in type II collagen and aggrecan and the concomitant appearance of type X collagen. This is accompanied by an increase in the enzymatic activity of MMP-13, the main collagenase in cartilage. The number of apoptotic chondrocytes slightly increased with Hyp differentiation and SEM–EDS analyses detected phosphorus-rich structures that could correspond to apoptotic bodies. The paper presents the first isotopic U–Pb study data (LA–ICP–MS method) of zircon from intrusive rocks of the Molo-Sarychat pluton situated along the deep-seated fault system of the "Nikolaev Line" in the eastern Kyrgyzstan. The intrusive rocks from this pluton belong to the high-potassic calc-alkaline to shoshonitic series. Intense Mo(–W–Cu–Au) (mainly molybdenum-porphyry) mineralization is spatially and genetically associated with this pluton. Together with the other Au, W and Cu deposits and occurrences, this mineralization is part of the extended metallogenic belt of Tien Shan; however, occurrences of molybdenum-porphyry mineralization are still rare in this belt. The concordant isotopic U–Pb ages of zircon autocrysts indicate the crystallization of quartz monzonite (293.3 ± 4.2 Ma) and monzogranite (286.6 ± 2.4 Ma) in the Early Permian. Zircon antecrysts dated at 306–320 Ma are also present. The crystallization age obtained corresponds to a post-collisional epoch of the development of this territory but the presence of the antecrysts expands the pluton emplacement to the Late Carboniferous-Early Permian, which, as a result, spanned over initially subduction-related and then post-collisional tectonic settings. Correspondingly, a post-collisional setting of the Mo(–W–Cu–Au) (molybdenum-porphyry) mineralization is established; it is related to the pluton studied and was formed after the emplacement of quartz monzonite (early stage) and monzogranite (late stage). Significant enrichment in Mo can be related to its progressing accumulation during magmatic differentiation causing the emplacement of quartz monzonite and especially monzogranite. These processes occurred under the more mature post-collisional tectonic regime, with possible formation of intermediate magma chambers in the Paleoproterozoic metamorphic rocks and ancient granitoids. The age dates determined for rocks from the Molo-Sarychat pluton are similar to those identified for the igneous and metasomatic rocks of the large Kumtor gold deposit that is also associated with the "Nikolaev Line." Te–Bi bearing minerals are commonly present in many hydrothermal gold deposits and can provide important physicochemical constraints on their mineralization. The gold mineralization in the Xiejiagou gold deposit is hosted in the Mesozoic Linglong granite and consists of auriferous quartz veins and subordinate disseminated ores in the vein-proximal alteration zone. Three types of pyrite were identified that formed in stage I, II, and III. Gold occurs mostly as native gold and electrum (Ag > 20 wt.%) inclusions in or filling microfractures in pyrite. The abundant auriferous pyrite-quartz veins contain an assemblage of tsumoite and hessite. The tsumoite occurs as irregular inclusions in the Py1 and is intergrown with the chalcopyrite. The hessite occurs as irregular inclusions or along the margins of the Py2, and it coexists with the gold and galena. The tellurium fugacity continually decreased from stage I (log fTe2 = −8.8 to −10.7) to stage III (log fTe2 = −13.8 to −17.0). The sulfur fugacity increased from stage I (log fS2 = −8.6 to −11.4) to stage II (log fS2 = −7.2 to −11.4), and then, it decreased from stage II to stage III (log fS2 = −9.8 to −13.0). These data indicate the conditions of the gold precipitation during the ore formation process. A detailed study of gold distribution in texturally different pyrite and the paragenetic association of tellurides provide valuable information on the distribution pattern of gold and in understanding the processes of gold deposition and evolution. A novel methodology to obtain 3D printable BiVO 4 precursor scaffolds (3DM-BiVO 4) via robocasting, showing excellent periodicity, shape retention, and mechanical stability, is disclosed for the first time. The ceramic pastes (solids at 70 wt.-%) comprised of BiVO 4 precursor, SiO 2 NPs, and a solution of deionized water: ethylene glycol (volume ratio 1:2, DI water: EG) exhibited enhanced rheology for the 3D printing of self-supported structures (3DM-BiVO 4). The thermal treatment induced a monoclinic scheelite phase, and the ethylene glycol contributed to achieving a unique square flake-like particle morphology. 3DM-BiVO 4 scaffolds were used as reusable monolithic photocatalysts, showing 72% acetaminophen mineralization at 240 min and pH = 9. This innovative approach opens avenues for designing 3D printable ceramic pastes, offering potential applications in tailoring-made monolithic photocatalyst fabrication by using SiO 2 NPs as an inorganic binder. The Clarence Stream intrusion-related gold deposit is hosted within metasedimentary and metavolcanic sequences of the Ordovician Cookson and Silurian Mascarene groups that were intruded by several phases of the Late Silurian to Early Devonian Saint George Plutonic Suite. Based on geochemical and geochronological data, the intrusive rocks in the deposit are categorized into three distinct suites, including gabbroic, granitoid, and Whittier Ridge Granite (WRG). The gabbroic suite is the same as the East Branch Brook metagabbro intrusion, which exhibits a subalkaline mafic composition fractionated from a depleted mantle in a suprasubduction zone setting. The granitoid suite shows the same geochemical characteristics and age as the metaluminous to slightly peraluminous Magaguadavic Granite and its fractionated phases. The WRG suite reflects characteristics of calc-alkaline, metaluminous to peraluminous I-type granites in the area, such as Sorrel Ridge and Mount Douglas granitic plutons. In situ U-Pb zircon geochronology yielded an age of 419.5 ± 3.8 Ma for a monzodiorite from the gabbroic suite. Porphyritic granite and alkali granite from granitoid suite yielded U-Pb zircon age of 402.4 ± 1.8 Ma and 394.3 ± 3.8 Ma, respectively. Geochronologic data from the WRG suite reflect two different crystallization ages of 383.8 Ma (382.4 ± 3.1 to 385.1 ± 4) and 372.4 Ma (367.4 ± 1.3 to 377.1 ± 1.9). Several pieces of evidence demonstrate that the gold mineralizing events occurred after the emplacement of the East Branch Brook metagabbroic dykes and are linked to the various intrusive phases of the nearby syntectonic Early Devonian Magaguadavic Granite. The absence of gold and sulphide mineralization in felsic dykes related to the WRG confirms that this plutonic body formed adjacent to the gold zones after the main gold mineralizing event. Intermediate sulfidation epithermal deposits represent significant reservoirs of precious metals, playing a crucial role in global mining operations. The Anatolian Peninsula, predominantly characterized by relatively young (Tertiary) lithologies, hosts numerous occurrences of epithermal base and precious metal mineralization. Within the realm of research in Northeastern Anatolia, several hydrothermal alteration zones have emerged as indicators of concealed epithermal mineralization, with the Bahçecik mineralization standing out as a recent focal point. The Bahçecik mineralization represents an intermediate sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag system, hosted by Late Cretaceous andesitic rocks, as well as Eocene dacitic lava and tuffs. Employing U-Pb LA-ICP-MS zircon dating of the dacitic host rocks, the mineralization is estimated to have occurred during the Lutetian epoch (43.61 ± 0.35 Ma) or later. The genesis of the Bahçecik deposit is believed to be linked to postcollisional regional extensional tectonics, primarily controlling its structural arrangement. Comprising pyrite, chalcopyrite, low-Fe sphalerite, galena, tetrahedrite/tennantite, enargite-luzonite, and gold-silver minerals, the deposit is accompanied by prominent gangue minerals such as Mn- and Ca-carbonates, quartz, and barite. Microprobe measurements have identified a majority of Au-Ag minerals (krennerite, buckhornite, and nagyagite) closely associated with sulphide minerals. Fluid inclusion data reveal that mineralization and fluid transportation occurred at temperatures ranging from 153 to 327°C, with solutions exhibiting salinity levels consistent with those of intermediate sulfidation deposits (1.7–7.3 wt.% NaCl). This study unequivocally classifies the Bahçecik mineralization as an intermediate sulfidation deposit, contrary to the conclusions drawn in previous research. Moreover, our investigation has unveiled the presence of a substantial ore resource, totalling 7.84 million tons, featuring 1.76 g/t Au and 2.24 g/t Ag. Key metals important for the green energy transition concentrate during magmatic-hydrothermal processes. In porphyry deposits, epithermal mineralization can overprint earlier higher-temperature systems. It is not well understood whether mineralization occurs in a single evolving system or forms during pulsed, episodic overprinting events. The timing and duration of fluid flow therefore remain key data gaps in deposit models, but they are essential factors for understanding metal (re)mobilization and concentration processes. Carbonates are common gangue minerals that precipitate during fluid flow and can be dated using the U-Pb method, thereby directly dating hydrothermal processes. Here, 41 new U-Pb dates from a fault-controlled porphyry-epithermal system in Yukon, Canada, reveal a >50 m.y. record of carbonate precipitation between ca. 77 and 19 Ma. Results support a model of pulsed, episodic fluid flow, rather than a single evolving system, where epithermal carbonate precipitation at ca. 74–67 Ma was both coeval with and significantly postdated Cretaceous porphyry-related magmatism. Overprinting events at ca. 62–56 Ma, ca. 51–47 Ma, and younger than 40 Ma were not responsible for primary metal deposition but may have contributed to metal enrichment. Carbonate dates coincide with periods of brecciation and fault slip. Fault movement therefore enabled episodic overprinting by epithermal mineralization, mobilizing and (re)concentrating metals. This comprehensive reconstruction of a long-lived magmatic-hydrothermal system tracks the transition from porphyry to epithermal environments, demonstrating the power of carbonate U-Pb dating for critical minerals research. Efforts to address economic and environmental concerns surrounding nitrogen (N) have motivated attempts to improve estimates of plant-available N in soil. Several soil health indicators, including CO2 burst, permanganate oxidizable carbon (C) (POXC), and autoclaved-citrate extractable (ACE) soil protein, assess labile C and N, and therefore may help to estimate soil N mineralization in long-term cover cropping systems (>3 years). This study evaluated the relationship of CO2 burst, POXC, ACEsoil protein, and pre-sidedress nitrate test (PSNT) with agronomic optimum N rate (AONR) in corn (Zea mays L.). The study also looked at relationship between other soil test and corn yield parameters, relative yield (RY) and yield without N sidedress at 25 long-term cover crop sites across Virginia. Results showed relatively weak correlations between AONR and CO2 burst, POXC, ACE-soil protein, and NO3-N (r = 0.00 to −0.48), which indicates that these soil health tests may not reliably predict soil N availability and corn yield. Corn yield with zero-sidedress N rate had a negative relationship with cover crop C:N ratio (r = −0.66) and a positive relationship with cover crop N content (r = 0.59), and NO3-N at pre-planting (r = 0.54) and sidedress (PSNT) (r = 0.63). The PSNT showed a better relationship (r = 0.65) compared to 72-h CO2 burst (r = 0.48) with RY. Soil health indicators (CO2 burst, POXC and ACE-soil protein) resulted in a poor or no relationship with AONR. Greenhouse gas emissions and climate change concerns have prompted worldwide initiatives to lower carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and prevent them from rising in the atmosphere, thereby controlling global warming. Effective CO2 management through carbon capture and storage is essential for safe and permanent storage, as well as synchronically meeting carbon reduction targets. Lowering CO2 emissions through carbon utilization can develop a wide range of new businesses for energy security, material production, and sustainability. CO2 mineralization is one of the most promising strategies for producing thermodynamically stable solid calcium or magnesium carbonates for long-term sequestration using simple chemical reactions. Current advancements in CO2 mineralization technologies,focusing on pathways and mechanisms using different industrial solid wastes, including natural minerals as feedstocks, are briefly discussed. However, the operating costs, energy consumption, reaction rates, and material management are major barriers to the application of these technologies in CO2 mineralization. The optimization of operating parameters, tailor-made equipment, and smooth supply of waste feedstocks require more attention to make the carbon mineralization process economically and commercially viable. Here, carbonation mechanisms, technological options to expedite mineral carbonation, environmental impacts, and prospects of CO2 mineralization technologies are critically evaluated to suggest a pathway for mitigating climate change in the future. The integration of industrial wastes and brine with the CO2 mineralization process can unlock its potential for the development of novel chemical pathways for the synthesis of calcium or magnesium carbonates, valuable metal recovery, and contribution to sustainability goals while reducing the impact of global warming. Background: The objective of the study was to prepare and assess novel remineralizing oral films loaded with fluorapatite powder and composed of a combination of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HC) and cellulose nanofibers (CF). Methods: Three concentrations of the prepared nano-fluorapatite were tried and tested after loading in the cellulose blends and films were prepared using solvent cast technique. Along with SEM, measurements of thickness of film, bending tolerance, time of disintegration, surface pH and release of ions were made. The produced film's ability to remineralize demineralized teeth in vitro was investigated. Results: The findings showed that the films' thicknesses were uniform, their folding endurance exceeded 300, and their disintegration times exceeded 24 h. High amounts of fluoride and calcium ions were released, and nearly neutral pH values were observed. The distribution of fluorapatite powder particles was uniform, as demonstrated by SEM. The Vickers microhardness (VHN) of enamel and morphological analysis results showed that in comparison with the demineralized specimens, there was a substantial microhardness value increase following 15 and 30 days remineralization. The mineralization mechanism responsible for the fossilization of archaeological textiles in close proximity to metal artifacts presents a sophisticated preservation process at both macro and micro levels. This study examines archaeological textiles dating from 2200 BC to AD 1900, sourced from three distinct archaeological sites. The focus is on understanding the microstructural degradation of fibers within a specific burial environment and the preservation achieved through mineralization. These archaeological fibers of archaeological textiles exhibit morphological preservation in the immediate vicinity of copper-based objects. Utilizing tools such as a digital camera, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM–EDS), high-resolution synchrotron-based microtomography (μCT), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), we examined fiber morphology, conducted elemental analysis, identified fiber types, and analyzed fiber characteristics. Our findings reveal the presence of smooth-surfaced wools and silks, fibers covered with calculi, and fiber impressions—all subjected to mineralization. These mineralized fibers can be categorized into three distinct stages of mineralization, each exhibiting varying carbon content. We inferred a correlation between mineralization rate and carbon content while also identifying mineralization density distribution on these textiles. Lastly, this study provides insights into the preservation states of textiles across three different mineralization stages, enriching our understanding of the deterioration of organic archaeological material. During the Mesozoic, the North China Craton experienced intense tectonic movements that resulted in the formation of numerous gold deposits on the Liaodong and Jiaodong Peninsulas in northeastern China. To investigate the relationship between deep crustal structure and gold mineralization in the Liaodong Peninsula, we deployed 334 dense seismic stations in the Wulong goldfield (WLGF) with the idea of analysing numerous receiver functions at different array stations. The purpose focused on knowing the potential for gold mineralization in the area. The study revealed the following: (1) The WLGF is characterized by a crustal thickness of approximately 32 km and an average Vp/Vs ratio of 1.76. The high value of the Vp/Vs ratio near the Wulong gold deposit suggests that mantle materials have penetrated into the crust and contributed to the mineralization process. (2) A low-velocity layer located at a depth of 10-18 km below the WLGF seems to support the existence of a potentially brittle-ductile transition zone. Also, hydrothermal magma upwelling channels are observed in the upper crust beneath the Wulong gold deposit. (3) The presence of a discontinuous low-velocity layer in the middle crust beneath the Liaodong Peninsula suggests promising prospects for gold ore exploration. The receiver functions method based on a dense seismic array employed in this study can offer valuable references and guidance for the fine exploration and research of ore deposits in other regions globally. Excessive anthropogenic nitrogen fixation alters the nitrogen cycle and increases nitrogen deposition, leading to nitrogen saturation, which in turns leads to forest decline and nitrate leaching into stream waters. Kureha Hill in Toyama Prefecture, Japan, is considered to be in nitrogen saturation, since many streams have contained high concentrations of nitrate for more than 20 years. In this study, the latest status of nitrogen saturation was verified by comparing most recent data with 20 years observational data, focusing on various indicators of nitrogen saturation, such as stream water quality, nitrogen budget of the watershed, and soil nitrification and mineralization potential. Both the nitrogen deposition on the Hyakumakidani watershed on Kureha Hill and the amount of nitrate leaching to the stream tended to decrease. The reduction in nitrate leaching could be attributed to the reduction in nitrogen deposition and other factors, such as nitrogen pools in the soil. Despite the recent decline in nitrate concentration of the Hyakumakidani stream, the pH level has remained unchanged. This may be due to decreased concentrations of sulfate and acid neutralizing capacity (ANC). The C/N ratio of the soil ranged from 12 to 18 from 2000 to 2023, which was lower than the nitrogen saturation threshold of 25. The net nitrification rate and net mineralization rate showed no significant changes between 2002 and 2023, indicating that the potential to produce nitrate has been unchanged. Similar values in net nitrification and net nitrogen mineralization rates reflected that the Hyakumakidani watershed remained in Stage‐3 nitrogen saturation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metal ion (Mn+ ${{{\rm M}}^{{\rm n}+}}$ /oxidant) and UV light catalyzed (UV/oxidant) mineralization and biodetoxification of Ponceau Xylidine (PX) was undertaken in this study. Hydrogen peroxide (HP) and ammonium persulphate (APS) were employed as oxidants and Fe2+ ${{{\rm F}{\rm e}}^{2+}}$ and Ag+ ${{{\rm A}{\rm g}}^{+}}$ as metal ion catalysts. Although highest mineralization in Fe2+ ${{{\rm F}{\rm e}}^{2+}}$ /APS and UV/HP systems was exhibited at pH 1 (63.09 %) and 3 (64.83 %), respectively, lowest was shown by Ag+ ${{{\rm A}{\rm g}}^{+}}$ /oxidant systems at any pH. The Fenton process achieved mineralization of ≈48.50 % within the pH range of 3 to 6.15. The study established Fe2+ ${{{\rm F}{\rm e}}^{2+}}$ as a better catalyst than Ag+ ${{{\rm A}{\rm g}}^{+}}$ , and HP, a better oxidant (2.5 times more effective) than APS. Mineralization with UV/HP at 120 min is highest at pH 3 (92.0 %) and 6.15 (86.17 %). Various inorganic anions were found to inhibit mineralization. The maximum and minimum inhibition was shown by Cl- ${{{\rm \ }{\rm C}{\rm l}}^{-}}$ in UV/HP and UV/APS systems respectively. The inhibition effect of NO3- ${{{\rm N}{\rm O}}_{3}^{-}}$ decreases with concentration till 0.01 mM, beyond which an increasing trend was observed. This study also demonstrates that the biodetoxification efficiency of various systems is in the order: UV/HP>UV/APS>Fe2+ ${{{\rm F}{\rm e}}^{2+}}$ /HP. Hyriopsis cumingii is a major freshwater pearl mussel in the world. In order to investigate the functional roles of the growth- and mineralization-related genes involved in the pearl formation process after the inserting nucleus into the mantle tissue of H. cumingii, we conducted a transcriptome analysis of data from different time periods after the pearl-nucleus insertion. We screened a total of 1,898 growthrelated unigenes and 716 mineralization-related unigenes, including 12 growthrelated differential genes and eight mineralization-related differential genes that showed sustained differential expression throughout the pearl formation. The results of the gene expression patterns among samples at different time points showed that the Mcon group and theM05d group clustered together, theM50d group and the M90d group clustered together, while the M20d group clustered separately. The overall density distribution of differential gene analysis at different periods after pearlnucleus insertion of H. cumingii, cluster analysis, differential gene analysis, differential gene differential, and co-expression analysis together revealed that growth and mineralization-related genes have the same expression pattern and jointly regulate pearl formation. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment revealed that the same functional cluster and pathway were together present on the enrichment results of both growth- and mineralization-related genes, suggesting a synergistic effect between growth and mineralization. We found that genes such as bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and calmodulin (CALM) are jointly involved in growth and mineralization processes. Introduction: Fibroblast growth factor 20 (Fgf20), a member of the Fgf9 subfamily, was identified as an important regulator of bone differentiation and homeostasis processes. However, the role of Fgf20 in bone physiology has not been approached yet. Here we present a comprehensive bone phenotype analysis of mice with functional ablation of Fgf20. Methods: The study conducts an extensive analysis of Fgf20 knockout mice compared to controls, incorporating microCT scanning, volumetric analysis, Fgf9 subfamily expression and stimulation experiment and histological evaluation. Results: The bone phenotype could be detected especially in the area of the lumbar and caudal part of the spine and in fingers. Regarding the spine, Fgf20-/- mice exhibited adhesions of the transverse process of the sixth lumbar vertebra to the pelvis as well as malformations in the distal part of their tails. Preaxial polydactyly and polysyndactyly in varying degrees of severity were also detected. High resolution microCT analysis of distal femurs and the fourth lumbar vertebra showed significant differences in structure and mineralization in both cortical and trabecular bone. These findings were histologically validated and may be associated with the expression of Fgf20 in chondrocytes and their progenitors. Moreover, histological sections demonstrated increased bone tissue formation, disruption of Fgf20-/- femur cartilage, and cellular-level alterations, particularly in osteoclasts. We also observed molar dysmorphology, including root taurodontism, and described variations in mineralization and dentin thickness. Background Aims Methods Results Conclusion Incorporation of cover crop (cc) shoot and root biomass can have different effects on nitrogen (N) dynamics and the transformation of soil‐derived N and cc N.The objective was to determine the effects of different ccs, cc compartments (roots and shoots), and pretreatment of cc biomass (fresh vs. dried) on mineralization processes and on the transformation of soil and cc N following incorporation into a silty loam soil.Soil columns with incorporated 15N‐labeled root and shoot biomass of two cc species (winter rye and oil radish) and different pretreatments (dried and fresh) were incubated for 70 days at a constant temperature and soil moisture (8°C, 40% water‐filled pore space). Carbon and N transformation dynamics were determined repeatedly, distinguishing between N originating from cc biomass and from soil.Net CO2 emission was related to the amount of soluble cell components added with ccs. Net N mineralization was negatively related to the C:N ratio of cc biomass. The incorporation of dried cc biomass caused higher initial soil respiration and N immobilization than fresh biomass. All treatments with cc incorporation showed increased N2O emission. Emitted N2O‐N consisted mainly of cc N (55%–57%) in treatments with fresh shoot biomass, whereas soil N was the main source of N2O (75%) in the treatment with fresh oil radish roots. Recovery of cc 15N was affected by crop compartment and pretreatment. At the end of the incubation, it was 17.5%–42.3% in soil NO3−, 0.1%–8.1% in microbial biomass N, and less than 0.23% of cc N was found in cumulative N2O emission.The incorporation of cc roots and shoots had different effects on N mobilization and immobilization processes and on the partitioning of cc N. Xindongzhuang Gold Deposit is located in the middle section of the Zhaoping fault zone, and its ore bodies are mainly distributed along the contact zone between the Mesozoic Linglong granite and Archean Jiaodong Group metamorphic rocks. Beresite is the main mineralized rock. The Linglong granite at the footwall of ore bodies is mainly characterized by red alteration, while the metamorphic rocks in the Jiaodong Group at the hanging wall are marked by propylitization. The main elements analysis reveals the increased contents of K2O, SiO2, SO3, and LOI, which are carried components, in the granite with red alteration, beresite, and sericitolite relative to Linglong granite, in particular for the beresite, and sericitolite that are closely related to mineralization. Among microelements, Rb and U are also commonly carried in the granite with red alteration, beresite, and sericitolite. Gold mineralization at Xindongzhuang Gold Deposit is closely related to changes in oxygen fugacity and acid and alkali conditions, and the enrichment of gold mainly occurs under reductive and slightly acidic conditions. The present work describes the colour removal of Rhodamine B (Rh B), a cationic dye by photo-electrocatalysis and sono-photo-electrocatalysis on MgFe2O4 as an anode. The spinel MgFe2O4 synthesized by sol–gel route was characterized by physical and electrochemical methods, a preamble of Rh B oxidation. The XRD pattern shows the formation of the single phase, which crystallizes in a face-centred cubic lattice (space group, Fd − 3 m), with spherical crystallites (0.42 nm). The Zeta-sizer analysis gives an average grain size of 0.46 µm and a zeta potential of − 30 mV. The SEM analysis revealed the porosity of the oxide and the Mg-O and Fe–O bonds were confirmed by the FT-IR analysis. The direct optical gap (2.16 eV) assigned to d − d internal transition comes from the crystal field splitting of Fe3+ octahedrally coordinated. The low electron mobility is assigned to a narrow conduction band of Fe3+—3d parentage with activation energy (0.12 eV) in conformity with a conduction mechanism by small lattice polaron hopping. The intensity potential J(E) profile in Na2SO4 (10−2 M) exhibits a small hysteresis similar to a chemical diode. The semi-logarithmic plot (logJ − E) indicates the chemical stability of MgFe2O4 in the working solution (Na2SO4). Curiously and unlike most spinels, the capacitance plot exhibits n-type conduction confirmed by chrono-amperometry, plotted at the free potential (+ 0.5 V) with a flat band potential (Efb) of 0.29 V, due to Fe3+ insertion. As an application, Rh B (20 mg L−1) was successfully oxidized by photo-electrocatalysis on MgFe2O4 with an abatement of 75% under solar irradiation and a direct current of 150 mA which has a bactericidal effect. An enhancement up to 97% has been reached by sono-photo-electrocatalysis at a frequency of 60 kHz; almost complete discoloration occurred within 90 min in the "US-Electric Current-Sunlight-MgFe2O4". On-demand dissolution of hydrogels has shown much potential in easy and pain-free removal of wound dressings. This work firstly describes a type of carbon dots (CDs) for dissolving Ca-alginate hydrogel via site-specific mineralization method. The CDs were characterized by two features, which included presence of primary/secondary amine groups and generation of calcium crystals with Ca2+. Especially, the amount of primary/secondary amine groups on CDs played key role in determining whether hydrogel could be dissolved. When there were sufficient primary/secondary amine groups, the mineralization occurred on CDs rather than alginates due to the hydrogen bond between primary/secondary amine and carboxyl of alginates. Thereby, this promoted the gel-sol transition through Ca2+ capture from the hydrogels. Moreover, antibacterial test revealed Ca2+ capture from cell walls, while in vivo test revealed hypoxia relief due to porous structures of the renewed hydrogels. Overall, CDs with sufficient primary/secondary amine groups could dissolve Ca-alginate hydrogel through site-specific mineralization method, accompanying by additional functions of antibacterial and hypoxia relief. Pif is a shell matrix protein (SMP) identified in the nacreous layer of Pinctada fucata (Pfu) comprised two proteins, Pif97 and Pif 80. Pif97 contains a von Willebrand factor A (VWA) and chitin-binding domains, whereas Pif80 can bind calcium carbonate crystals. The VWA domain is conserved in the SMPs of various mollusk species; however, their phylogenetic relationship remains obscure. Furthermore, although the VWA domain participates in protein–protein interactions, its role in shell formation has not been established. Accordingly, in the current study, we investigate the phylogenetic relationship between PfuPif and other VWA domain-containing proteins in major mollusk species. The shell-related proteins containing VWA domains formed a large clade (the Pif/BMSP family) and were classified into eight subfamilies with unique sequential features, expression patterns, and taxa diversity. Furthermore, a pull-down assay using recombinant proteins containing the VWA domain of PfuPif 97 revealed that the VWA domain interacts with five nacreous layer-related SMPs of P. fucata, including Pif 80 and nacrein. Diversifying wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)-based cropping systems is important for the sustainability of dryland agriculture. Research has focused on the agronomic benefits of increased crop diversity in semi-arid environments, but less is known about the impacts of increased crop diversity on the soil microbial community. This work compared soil health parameters between a continuous wheat crop sequence to a diverse sequence that included pea (Pisum sativum L.), proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.), safflower (Carthamus tinctorius, L.), and spring wheat. Respiration was higher (p <.005) in the diverse sequence while activity of N-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase was lower (p <.05) with a mean rate of 26.3 and 16.3 mg ρ-nitrophenol kg−1 soil h−1 for the continuous wheat and diverse sequences, respectively. The mean net nitrogen mineralized during the growing season was 33.2 ± 2.5 kg ha−1 and was not different between treatments (p >.05). No difference was observed in bacterial alpha diversity, while fungal community diversity was 52% lower in the diverse rotation. The results of this work suggest that specific crops in a rotation may impact microbial processes related to nitrogen mineralization and that the soil fungal community may be more sensitive to changes in crop sequence than the soil bacterial community. Comprehensive research has been implemented to raise the efficiency of the geochemical survey of stream sediments (SSs) that formed under the cryolithogenesis conditions. The authors analysed the composition, structure and specific features of the formation of exogenous anomalous geochemical fields (AGFs) identified through SSs of large river valleys of IV order. In our case, these were the valleys of Maly Ken, Ken and Tap Rivers. These rivers are located in the central and southern parts of the Balygychan–Sugoy trough enclosed in the Magadan region, North–East of Russia. The authors proposed a new technique to sample loose alluvium of SSs in the large river valleys along the profiles. The profiles were located across the valleys. The AGFs of Au, Ag, Pb, Zn, Sn, Bi, Mo and W were studied. Correlations between elements have been established. These elements are the main indicator elements of Au–Ag, Ag–Pb, Sn–Ag, Mo–W and Sn–W mineralization occurring on the sites under study. The results obtained were compared with the results of geochemical surveys of SSs. It is concluded that the AGFs recognized along the profiles reflect the composition and structure of eroded and drained ore zones, uncover completely and precisely the pattern of element distribution in loose sediments of large water flows. The alluvium fraction < 0.25 mm seems to be most significant in a practical sense, as it concentrated numerous ore elements. Sampling of this fraction in the river valleys of IV order does not cause any difficulty, for this kind of material is plentiful. The developed technique of alluvium sampling within large river valleys is efficient in searching for diverse mineralization at all stages of prognostic prospecting. It is applicable for geochemical survey of SSs performed at different scales both in the North–East of Russia, as well as other regions with similar climatic conditions, where the SSs are formed under the cryolithogenesis conditions. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are fluorinated and refractory pollutants that are ubiquitous in industrial wastewater. Photocatalytic destruction of such pollutants with catalysts such as TiO2 and ZnO is an attractive avenue for removal of PFAS, but refined forms of such photocatalysts are expensive. This study, for the first time, utilized milled unrefined raw mineral ilmenite, coupled to UV-C irradiation to achieve mineralization of the two model PFAS compounds perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluoro octane sulfonic acid (PFOS). Results obtained using a bench-scale photocatalytic reactor system demonstrated rapid removal kinetics of PFAS compounds (>90% removal in less than 10 h) in environmentally-relevant concentrations (200–1000 ppb). Raw ilmenite was reused over three consecutive degradation cycles of PFAS, retaining >80% removal efficiency. Analysis of degradation products indicated defluorination and the presence of shorter-chain PFAS intermediates in the initial samples. End samples indicated the disappearance of short-chain PFAS intermediates and further accumulation of fluoride ions, suggesting that original PFAS compounds underwent mineralization due to an oxygen-radical-based photocatalytic destruction mechanism induced by TiO2 present in ilmenite and UV irradiation. The outcome of this study implies that raw ilmenite coupled to UV-C is suitable for cost-effective reactor operation and efficient photocatalytic destruction of PFAS compounds. Conventional biomineralization strategies are constructed using microparticles, suffering the inhibition of protease bio-availability and required rigorous bio-evaluation. The use of nanomineralization technology could apply control over the size, shape, and composition of the materials and provide a steadier maintenance environment for the bio-enzyme. In this study, stable and nanoscale copper phosphate (Cu3(PO4)2) bio-nanomineralization materials were constructed to encapsulate free bio-enzyme. By optimizing the biomineralization process, Cu3(PO4)2 was demonstrated to enable the facile coordination of various bio-enzymes (e.g., catalase or β-glucosidase) for efficient bio-enzyme transportation and maintaining the bio-enzyme activity in harsh condition. Ooids are coated grains composed of a tangential or radial cortex growing around a nucleus. They are common in carbonate deposits of almost any geological age and provide insights into environmental conditions. However, abiotic or biotic factors influencing their formation remain unclear. This study aims to advance current understanding of ooid formation with a multi‐analytical approach (for example, field emission scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and micro X‐ray fluorescence) to classic examples from Great Salt Lake, USA, and the Lower Triassic Germanic Buntsandstein Basin, Germany. Both of these deposits represent hypersaline shallow‐water environments where ooids are closely associated with microbial mats. Great Salt Lake ooids are dominantly 0.2 to 1.0 mm in size, ellipsoidal to subspherical in shape, composed of aragonite and contain organic matter. Germanic Buntsandstein Basin ooids are mainly ≤4 mm in size, spherical to subspherical in shape, composed of calcite and currently contain little organic matter. Despite the differences, both ooids have the same cortex structures, likely reflecting similar formation processes. Some Great Salt Lake ooids formed around detrital grains while others exhibit micritic particles in their nuclei. In Germanic Basin ooids, detrital nuclei are rare, despite the abundance of siliciclastic particles of various sizes in the host rocks. Germanic Basin deposits also include 'compound ooids', i.e. adjacent ooids that coalesced with one another during growth, suggesting static in situ development, which is supported by the lack of detrital grains as nuclei. Germanic Basin ooids also grew into laminated microbial crusts with identical microstructures, further indicating a static formation. Such microbial crusts typically form through mineral precipitation associated with organic matter (for example, extracellular polymeric substances), suggesting a similar formation pathway for ooids. The inferred key‐role of organic matter is further supported by features in radial ooids from the Great Salt Lake, which commonly exhibit, from their nuclei towards their surface, increasing organic matter contents and decreasing calcification. The paper presents first data on isotopic U–Pb study (LA-ICP-MS method) of zircon from intrusive rocks of the Adyrtor intrusions – a group of small intrusives situated in the easternmost part of the deep-seated fault system of the "Nikolaev Line." Here, these intrusions cut through one of the oldest (1.8–2.6 Ga) complexes of the basement rocks of Tien Shan (metamorphic rocks of the "Kuilyu suite"). These intrusive rocks belong to the high-potassic calc-alkaline to shoshonitic series, with some geochemical signatures also of anorogenic (A-type) magmatism. These intrusions are accompanied by skarn and porphyry W–Mo–Cu–Au mineralization. Together with the other Au, W, and Cu deposits and occurrences, they are parts of the extended metallogenic belt of Tien Shan. The concordant isotopic U–Pb age data for zircon autocrysts indicate the crystallization of quartz syenite (330.7 ± 4.3 Ma) and quartz monzonite (329.5 ± 5.8 Ma) in the latest Early Carboniferous. The distinct W–Mo specialization of ore mineralization related to the intrusions studied is in agreement with the post-collisional tectonic setting during their emplacement, despite their older or similar age compared to the ore-bearing plutons in more western segments of the Middle Tien Shan, which corresponded to a subduction-related setting. This supports the possibility of the "scissor-like" (from east to west) closure of the Turkestan paleoocean that resulted in the earlier cessation of subduction in the eastern Tien Shan compared to the western Tien Shan. The rocks also contain zircon xenocrysts with older (on the order of 1.7–2.6 Ga) age, which is in agreement with the age of the host metamorphic rocks of the Tarim craton basement. This highlights the possibility of magma chamber development in the continental crust, together with the magma chambers in the metasomatically-enriched subcontinental upper mantle, the latter being common for high-potassic magmatism. The study area is in Troud that is located in the Central Iran Structural Zone. The Troud Fault in the south and Anjilo Fault in the north, played a significant role in the information of structural events and movement of mineralised fluids as well as mineral precipitations through their vertical and sinistral strike-slip movements. Gazkhizan is a mineralised area of 350 m long and 50–70 m wide and an E–W orientation. The highest Cu grade ever obtained is 3.55% which has been extracted from trench number 1. The average Cu grade in the zone on the surface is 2.11%, whilst the amount for the entire zone is equal to 0.82% including mineralised and waste rocks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A study of the degradation of diclofenac (DCF) in an electrochemical reactor equipped with two carbon cloth (CC) electrodes operating in recirculation mode, is presented. The analysis of the effects of the operating variables on the degradation of the DCF showed that, as expected, the applied voltage has a direct influence on the reactions that take place at the anode and cathode. In fact, the addition of O2 and Fe(II) to the medium demonstrated that the electro-Fenton (EF) process was taking place and that under the following conditions, 4 V, 0.05 M Na2SO4, 50 mg/L DCF, 0.25 g Fe(II)-loaded resin, and 50 mL/min, 79.8% of DCF mineralization was obtained in a process described by a pseudo-first order kinetics (k = 0.0184 min−1). Using a simulated domestic wastewater effluent, the EF reactor under study not only showed a similar DCF mineralization value (81.8%), but also reasonable energy consumption (2.16 kWh/m3) as well as CC electrode stability upon several treatment cycles. These results suggest that an EF approach using low-cost CC electrodes and neutral pH conditions, constitute a technically and economically viable option for DCF wastewater treatment. Successful geophysical exploration projects in the Gucheng–Yaxi area located in Gaochun District, Jiangsu Province, China, have been limited partly due to the complex geological conditions of the area and high artificial noise in data acquired using electrical and electromagnetic methods. In this study, we deployed the new anti-interference spread-spectrum-induced polarization method (SSIP) and the audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) method to detect a copper–polymetallic deposit in the area. Two-dimensional inversion results in the Gucheng–Yaxi area revealed a high chargeability anomalous zone on the SSIP profile that coincided with a zone of moderate resistivity located between two resistor bodies on the AMT profile. A follow-up 1200 m drill hole was established at this high-chargeability, moderate-resistivity zone which encountered polymetallic (copper, lead, zinc, gold, and silver) mineralization at a depth of ≥400 m. Drill hole data analysis showed that mineralization occurred interspaced in the marble rock mass at varying depths. Furthermore, several low-resistivity, weak-chargeability sections were revealed and attributed to Cretaceous sediments and faults. These faults are thought to have played a critical role in the polymetallic mineralization genesis. In summary, this study demonstrated the successful of application of SSIP and AMT in detecting a metallic deposit in an area with high artificial noise. A number of regolith-hosted REE occurrences have recently been discovered in the Esperance region in southern Western Australia. This paper summarizes major characteristics of REE mineralization and discusses contributing factors and potential controls. The main aim is to explain why there is a lack of highly sought-after ion-adsorption-clay-type REE deposits across the region despite the presence of the regolith-hosted REE mineralization on a regional scale. Local mineralization mostly occurs as continuous flat-lying enrichment "blankets" within the residual regolith developed over Archaean–Proterozoic granite gneisses and granitoids with elevated REE content. The enriched horizon is commonly located in the lower saprolite and saprock and is accompanied by an overlying REE-depleted zone. This distribution pattern, together with the data on HREE fractionation and the presence of the supergene REE minerals, indicates chemogenic type enrichment formed by supergene REE mobilization into groundwater, downward transport, and accumulation in the lower part of the weathering profile. Residual REE accumulation processes due to bulk rock volume and mass reduction during weathering also contribute to mineralization. It is proposed that climate and groundwater chemistry are the critical regional controls on the distribution of REEs in the weathering profile and on their speciation in the enrichment zone. Cenozoic aridification of climate in southwest Australia heavily overprinted pre-existing REE distributions in the weathering profile. Acidic (pH < 4), highly saline groundwaters intensely leached away any relatively weakly bound, adsorbed or colloidal REE forms, moving them downward. Dissolved REEs precipitated as secondary phosphates in neutral to alkaline environment at lower Eh near the base of the weathering profile forming the supergene enrichment zone. Low denudation rates, characteristic of areas of low relief under the arid climate, are favourable for the preservation of the existing weathering profiles with REE mineralization. The Baoshan deposit is one of the important Cu-Pb-Zn deposits associated with granitic rocks in the Nanling Range, South China. Here, we present He and Ar isotope data for the Baoshan deposit to decipher the contributions of mantle-derived volatiles and heat to its Cu-Pb-Zn mineralization. The ore-forming fluids in sphalerite and pyrite exhibited 3He/4He ratios up to 1.51 Ra. A linear correlation between He and Ar isotopes suggests that the ore-forming fluids were a mixture of a predominantly mantle-derived fluid with a high 3He/4He ratio and a shallow crustal fluid, characterized by a low 3He/4He ratio. The δ34S values of sulfides in the Baoshan deposit ranged from +2.30 to +5.21‰, consistent with the magma-derived sulfur. The calculated 3He/Q ratios for the ore-forming fluid exceeded those of mid-oceanic ridge hydrothermal solutions by 10 to 50 times, indicating that the ore-forming fluids acquired both heat and volatiles in a convective hydrothermal regime rather than a conductive one. Therefore, there is a significant contribution of mantle-derived volatiles, heat, and possibly metals, to the Cu-Pb-Zn mineralization in the Baoshan deposit, and the continuous influx of mantle-derived fluids/melts probably plays a crucial role during the Cu-Pb-Zn mineralization related to granitic rocks. The discovery of a Cu-Ni sulfide deposit in Langmuri of the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt holds significant geological implications. This study, based on the examination of the metallogenic geological body, metallogenic structure, and metallogenic process characteristics, suggests that the deposit is a magmatic Cu-Ni sulfide deposit formed in the collision of orogenic and post-extension processes of the Late Ordovician. The early mineralization of the deposit was primarily derived from the differentiation of sulfides in the mafic–ultramafic rock (450–439 Ma) of the Late Ordovician, while the late-stage mineralization underwent significant superimposed modification by the magmatic–hydrothermal activity of crustal-contaminated biotite granite (415 Ma). In addition, this article analyzes the measurements of the geochemical studies of sediments, and the magnetic and gravity measurements carried out in the area, focusing on the geochemical and geophysical anomaly characteristics in the study area, and selects favorable exploration areas, which have been confirmed to have multiple mineral bodies. By integrating comprehensive gravity, magnetic, induced polarization, and audio-frequency magnetotelluric profile measurements, this study analyzes delineated mineralized zones and the deep extensions of surface mineral bodies to assess deep mineralization potential and identify deep ore-finding targets. It suggests that diverse and scattered mafic–ultramafic complexes in the Langmuri mining area have a large-scale distribution of ore-bearing rocks in the deep. Through the analysis and inverse of the geophysical data, a deep mineralization predictive model was established in the basic–ultrabasic rock mass. It is unclear how elevated CO2 (eCO2) and warming interactively influence soil N mineralization in the rhizosphere of rice (Oryza sativa L.), given that the N mineralization process in anaerobic paddy soils differs from that of aerobic upland soils. In this study, we conducted a rhizobox experiment in open top chambers and used 15N-13C dual-labeling to examine the impacts of eCO2 (700 ppm) and warming (2 °C above the ambient) on N mineralization and associated microbial processes in the rhizosphere of rice plants under anaerobic conditions. Compared to the control, the combination of eCO2 and warming increased rice N uptake by 50% in a no-added-N treatment and 32% under an N-added treatment, with the additional uptake mainly consisting of soil-derived N. Co-elevation of CO2 and temperature increased microbial biomass C and N and increased N mineralization by 41% and 23% in the no-added-N and N-added treatments, respectively. The absolute abundances of the N-mineralization genes chiA, pepA, pepN, and urea hydrolysis gene ureC in the rhizosphere increased by 22–30% under eCO2 and warming, corresponding to the additional N mineralization and photosynthetic C allocation into the soil. However, eCO2 plus warming did not increase the metabolic efficiency of N mineralization (mineralized N per unit microbial N). Our results suggest that the co-elevation of CO2 and temperature stimulated microbially mediated soil N mineralization in the rhizosphere of rice, posing a risk on the acceleration of soil organic matter decomposition. The Ririwai anorogenic alkaline complex harbours extensive rare metal (Nb-Zr-Sn-Zn) mineralization. However, uncertainty still surrounds their origin and magmatic-hydrothermal processes responsible for their rare metal mineralization. The complex is composed of peralkaline arfvedsonite ± albite-bearing granites, mildly peralkaline fayalite-bearing granite porphyries, and weakly peraluminous biotite-bearing granites, all of which show diagnostic A1-type characteristics. Zircon U-Pb dating reveals emplacement ages between 181.4 ± 0.81 and 188.6 ± 7 Ma for the three rock units. Sm-Nd and Pb isotopes (εNd (t) = –0.6 to −5.4, 206Pb/204Pb = 17.68–17.93) constrained the Ririwai A-type granites to represent highly fractionated products of enriched mantle-derived magmas. Mass-balance modelling suggests that magma evolution was fuelled by extensive fractional crystallization of 50 ~ 60 vol.% K-feldspar, 30 ~ 35 vol% fayalite, 5 ~ 10 vol.% amphibole, and ~ 5 vol.% apatite under reduced and water-undersaturated (ΔFMQ = –1.55; logfo2 = –18.63; H2O = <2.0 wt.%) conditions and assimilation of ~ 50 vol.% crust. Whole rock and amphibole compositions revealed an increasing degree of fractionation from the fayalite-bearing granite porphyries through biotite-bearing granites to the arfvedsonite ± albite-bearing granites. This extended fractionation at the late stage of magma differentiation, facilitated by fluorine dissolution and concentration of excess HFSE and REE as alkali-fluorocomplexes in the fluorine-rich silicate melt, allowed the accumulation of economic rare metal pyrochlore and columbite mineralizations in the highly fractionated arfvedsonite± albite- and biotite-bearing granites, respectively. Nonetheless, the metasomatic reaction rim textures around the magmatic pyrochlore, coupled with the M-type lanthanide tetrad effect (TE1,3 >1.10) indicate the subsequent effect of hydrothermal processes. Tectonically, reactivated shear fractures and transcurrent faults following lithospheric stresses in a transtensional regime allowed magma uprising and emplacement of A-type granites in the Ririwai complex. Mississippi Valley‐type (MVT) Zn‐Pb deposits predominantly form within both orogenic forelands and fold‐and‐thrust belts, yet the mineralization process within the latter tectonic setting remains inadequately understood. This study, through a comprehensive review of MVT deposits across global fold‐and‐thrust belts, introduces a novel model elucidating the mineralization process in the context of tectonic belt evolution. It is demonstrated that during the stage I, regional compression is introduced by early stages of plate convergence, causing the folding and thrusting and creating structural or lithological traps such as evaporite diapirs and unconformity‐related carbonate dissolution‐collapse structures. Thereafter, in stage II, hydrocarbons begin to migrate and accumulate within these traps, where reduced sulfur is generated through thermochemical or bacterial sulfate reduction concurrent with or preceding Zn‐Pb mineralization. In the subsequent stage III, as plate convergence persists, the regional stress transitions from compression to transpression or extension. Under these conditions, steeply‐dipping extensional faults are generated, facilitating the ascent of metalliferous brines into early‐formed structural or lithological traps. Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are 1 of the allotropes of carbon with unique properties. CNT shows good bone-tissue compatibility and has been reported to induce osteogenesis; therefore, it is regarded as an ideal material in a wide range of applications. However, the therapeutic effect of CNT-containing materials in the healing of apical periodontal tissue is unknown. The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of CNT on the proliferation and mineralization of the human cementoblast cell line (HCEM). The proliferation of HCEM cells with CNT stimulation was assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay performed from 24–72 hours. Calcium deposition levels were evaluated by alizarin red S staining on days 7 and 10, and mineralization-related gene expression was examined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction on days 3, 7, and 10. Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the culture with CNT on day 14. CNT showed no cytotoxicity to HCEM cell proliferation. Treatment was performed with mineralization medium, CNT-induced HCEM mineralization on day 7, and increased calcium deposition on days 7 and 14. Messenger RNA expression of alkaline phosphatase was significantly increased throughout the experimental period, and bone sialoprotein was significantly increased on day 3 by CNT, whereas no effect was found on mRNA expression of type I collagen. CNT was observed in attachment to the cell surface on day 14. CNT promotes the mineralization of HCEM cells, indicating the potential as a new bioactive component for apical periodontal tissue regeneration materials through the regulation of cementoblast mineralization. There are numerous effective procedures for cell signaling, in which humans directly transmit detectable signals to cells to govern their essential behaviors. From a biomedical perspective, the cellular response to the combined influence of electrical and magnetic fields holds significant promise in various domains, such as cancer treatment, targeted drug delivery, gene therapy, and wound healing. Among these modern cell signaling methods, electromagnetic fields (EMFs) play a pivotal role; however, there remains a paucity of knowledge concerning the effects of EMFs across all wavelengths. It's worth noting that most wavelengths are incompatible with human cells, and as such, this study excludes them from consideration. In this review, we aim to comprehensively explore the most effective and current EMFs, along with their therapeutic impacts on various cell types. Specifically, we delve into the influence of alternating electromagnetic fields (AEMFs) on diverse cell behaviors, encompassing proliferation, differentiation, biomineralization, cell death, and cell migration. Our findings underscore the substantial potential of these pivotal cellular behaviors in advancing the treatment of numerous diseases. Moreover, AEMFs wield a significant role in the realms of biomaterials and tissue engineering, given their capacity to decisively influence biomaterials, facilitate non-invasive procedures, ensure biocompatibility, and exhibit substantial efficacy. It is worth mentioning that AEMFs often serve as a last-resort treatment option for various diseases. Much about electromagnetic fields remains a mystery to the scientific community, and we have yet to unravel the precise mechanisms through which wavelengths control cellular fate. Consequently, our understanding and knowledge in this domain predominantly stem from repeated experiments yielding similar effects. Hydrothermal disseminated gold mineralization in the Sanshandao gold belt, Jiaodong Peninsula, China, is closely associated with regional NE–NNE fault zones. To investigate the structural controls on this mineralization, we conducted 3D numerical modeling of coupled heat transport, tectonic deformation, and fluid flow, of which two sets of models, designed simple models and actual models, were involved. The simple models were used to examine how general fault geometries (fault bend length, fault bend angle, and fault dip) influenced dilation (positive volume strain) and fluid flow and further influenced hydrothermal mineralization. In contrast, actual modeling was carried out to further understand the structural controls and mineralization localization in a specific geological condition at Sanshandao. Following this, numerical simulation experiments with variable paleo-stresses on these two models were carried out in FLAC3D platform. The simulation results of the simple models showed that long fault bend lengths, large absolute fault bend angles, and large changes in fault dip were more likely to promote dilation in the fault zone. The dilation zones are related to the small intersection angle of maximum principal stress and fault dip. The simulation results of the actual model illustrate that the gold mineralization distribution at Sanshandao was controlled by the coupling of fault strike–dip bends. Specifically, the discontinuous mineralization in the vertical direction was caused by local fluid focusing due to fault dip changes, particularly where the bend length was long. In addition, the oblique orientation of ore shooting depended on the variable strain orientations relative to the fault, which appeared to be fault strike variations. The results further determined the NNW–SSE-directed compression as the paleo-stress regime at Sanshandao during the ore-forming period. Our data also illustrated the deep fluid flow pathways in the Sanshandao gold belt and the Xinli S–SSE deep and the Sanshandao and Beibuhaiyu E–NE deep areas deserve to be the focus of the next gold exploration.
