Higher demands which characterize modern judo and analysis of many new things in the area of periodizations have the aim to enable better training effects and to overcome empiric and elemental work of coaches by varying different methodical training parameters and characteristic situational judo training. Strength training is a form of physical activity used for increasing abilities of surmounting or resisting the power. The increasing in muscular strength results in increased success in performing some motoric tasks. In our research, estimation of selected judo athlete muscular strength is done by combination of laboratory and field tests. The research was conducted in two phases during the 10-week preparation period. The obtained results showed statistically significant high values of muscular strength in most tests. That is why we concluded that the applied preparation strength training resulted in increasing muscular strength in judo athletes. We think that the right periodizations of training enable adequate functional adaptation of judo athletes. Strength training applied in preparation period will lead to adequate increasing in muscular strength of judo athletes which make basis for faster performing of movements and efficient performing of techniques during a match.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to provide an evidence base and conceptual framework to inform new guidelines for achieving a balance between sports and employment commitments (i.e., dual career, DC) of the employee-sportspersons. To shape a DC discourse in the workplace, the distinct and combined views of the employee-sportspersons (i.e., the Employee), the managers (i.e., the Employer) were considered. Methods: Following a concept mapping methodology, 257 international participants (25% employers and 75% employee-sportspersons) sorted and rated 50 potential statements associated with DC circumstances and supports in the workplace. Results: Six distinct clusters emerged, with the combined employers-employee co-creation scenario assigning 6 statements to the micro dimension (Cluster 1 = Workplace Benefits), 4 statements to the meso dimension (Cluster 2 = Role of National Sports Governing Bodies), 19 statements to the macro dimension (Cluster 3 = Dual Career Policy Development), 4 and 5 statements to the organizational dimensions (Cluster 4 = Employee-Employer Collaboration and Responsibility; Cluster 5 = Sport Career Integration), and 12 statements to the policy (Cluster 6 = Workplace Strategies for Dual Career Support) dimension. With respect to the employers, the employee-sportspersons showed higher scores (p < 0.05) for importance of clusters 2, 4, and 6, and for feasibility of clusters 2 and 6. Discussion: These findings suggest priorities for changes within the DC dimensions identified, and envisage flexible models for aligning corporate brand values and corporate social responsibility strategies through meaningful and proactive DC support of the employee-sportspersons in the workplace. The aim of this research is to contribute to the understanding of the concept of satisfaction with life by determining the relationship between personality traits and the subjective experience of satisfaction with life in students—recreational athletes. This research is based on the biological theory of personality by Hans Eysenck and it attempts to offer explanations of a possible change in satisfaction with life in the period of great social deprivation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample of subjects consisted of 120 undergraduate students (N = 120) of all years and both sexes, 55 (45.8%) males and 65 (54.2%) females, at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, the University of Nis. The average age of the subjects was 23.63 years (SD = 2.070). Eysenck's personality questionnaire (Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, EPQ: Eysenck et al., 1885, adapted and translated by Šipka, 1985) was used for the operationalization of personality structure. The SWLS scale (Satisfaction With Life Scale, Diener et al., 1985) was used for estimating satisfaction with life. A significant regression model, which explains 11% of variance in the subjective experience of satisfaction with life in recreational athletes, was obtained. In the model, extraversion stands out as a significant predictor from the group of personality traits (β = 0.279). Neuroticism (β = −0.160) and psychoticism (β = −0.122) did not prove to be significant predictors of satisfaction with life in the structural model regardless of there being a significant negative correlation between neuroticism and satisfaction with life. The more extraverted participants had a keener subjective sense of satisfaction with life.

Knee pads have become increasingly popular among volleyball players. Given the fact high-intensity activities that are crucial to successfully playing this sport lead to an increased risk of a knee injury, the primary use of knee pads is to prevent potential injury. However, no research has been carried out to explain the effects of knee pads on the most important physical abilities in volleyball players, thus directly affecting performance. This study was undertaken to determine the effects of knee pads on the explosive power of the lower extremities, linear speed, and agility in young female volleyball players. In two separated sessions, 84 female volleyball players (age: 14.83 ± 0.72 years; height: 163.19 ± 8.38 cm; body mass: 53.64 ± 10.42 kg; VE: 5.30 ± 3.39 years) completed squat jumps (SJ), countermovement jumps (CMJ) with and without arm swing, linear sprints at 5-m and 10-m, modified t-test, and 5-10-5 shuttle test. Data analyses included descriptive statistics, paired sample T-tests and use of effect size (ES). There was no statistical difference between the two conditions for SJ (p = 0.156; ES = 0.18), CMJ (p = 0.817; ES = 0.03), CMJ with arm swing (p = 0.194; ES = 0.14), linear sprint at 5 m (p = 0.789; ES = 0.03) and 10 m (p = 0.907; ES = −0.01), modified t-test (p = 0.284; ES = 0.13), and 5-10-5 shuttle test (p = 0.144; ES = 0.19). Wearing knee pads has neither an inhibitory nor positive effects on explosive power of the lower extremities, linear speed, and agility in young female volleyball players.

The physical fitness of athletes holds a significant place in achieving results in competitions in all areas of sport. Apart from the inexhaustible multitude of technical elements that judo possesses, the improvement of physical and functional abilities is a good basis for achieving top results. It is usual that the condition training of judoists is planned to incorporate three main phases, each of which is characterized by its own special dynamic: - phase one consists of the work involved in a training program which is aimed at the development of the so-called basic foundations (strength and endurance), which take up a great part of general many-sided training, - phase two requires a smaller amount of overall work, but a greater intensity of effort, in order to develop the so-called specific competitive foundations of judoists, - phase three of condition training builds up specific abilities, the competitors' agility as well as motoric and situational motoric skills. This research has as its aim to show the basic principles of the training process in the preliminary period, the application of the model for the training of the specific strength of judoists and the changes which take place due to the application of this training model, all during the period of time covered by this research. The research included judoists who participate in competitions at the national level. Six tests were used to check the special strength of judoists. The results of the research indicate that during the experimental treatment (the preliminary period), a statistically relevant increase in the special strength of judoists was detected by means of all the tests used for measuring it. Tělesná kondice sportovců zaujímá významné místo v dosahování výsledků při závodech ve všech sportovních oblastech. Bez ohledu na nevyčerpatelné množství technických prvků, které judo obsahuje, zdokonalení fyzických a funkčních schopností je dobrý základ pro dosažení nejvyšších výsledků. Je obvyklé, že kondiční trénink judistů je plánován tak, aby zahrnoval tři hlavní fáze, přičemž každá z nich je charakterizována svou vlastní speciální dynamikou: – fáze 1: skládá se z práce zahrnuté v tréninkovém programu, jehož cílem je rozvoj tzv. hlavních základů (síla a vytrvalost), což zabere velkou část celkového všestranného tréninku; – fáze 2: vyžaduje menší množství celkové práce, ale větší intenzitu námahy, aby se rozvinuly tzv. specifické soutěživé základy judistů; – fáze 3: kondiční příprava vytváří specifické schopnosti, hbitost, motorické a situačně-motorické dovednosti závodníka. Cílem tohoto výzkumu je ukázat základní principy tréninkového procesu v přípravném období, aplikaci tohoto modelu v tréninku zaměřeném na specifickou sílu judistů a změny, které nastávají díky aplikaci tohoto tréninkového modelu; během celého období probíhal výzkum. Tento výzkum zahrnoval judisty, kteří se účastnili soutěží na národní úrovni. K ověření speciální síly judistů bylo použito šest testů. Výsledky výzkumu ukazují, že během experimentálního zpracování (přípravné období) bylo určeno statisticky významné zvýšení speciální síly judistů, a to prostřednictvím všech testů, kterých bylo pro měření použito.
