Research suggests that patient factors such as weight and gender influence activity-related recommendations for chronic pain. Research also suggests that appraisals of the intensity and cause of pain may explain these weight and gender effects. We investigated the influence of patient weight and gender on observers’ likelihood of recommending activity-related treatments for pain. We also explored the mediating effects of observers’ ratings of pain severity and the extent to which pain was due to medical and lifestyle factors (pain attribution).Patients and methods: Healthy young adults (N=616; 76% female) viewed videos (Ghent Pain Videos of Daily Activities) and vignettes of 4 patients with chronic back pain performing a standardized functional task. Patients varied by gender (female, male) and weight (normal, obese), but were otherwise equivalent on demographic characteristics and pain behaviors. Participants rated how much pain they perceived the patients to be experiencing, the extent to which they attributed the pain to medical and lifestyle factors, and their likelihood of recommending exercise, physical therapy (PT), and rest.Results: Patient weight and gender significantly interacted to influence exercise, PT, and rest recommendations. Both pain intensity and pain attribution mediated the relationships between patient weight and activity recommendations; however, these mediation effects differed across gender and recommendation type.Conclusion: Patient weight and gender influenced laypeople’s activity recommendations for chronic pain. Moreover, the results suggest that observers’ perceptions of pain intensity and pain attributions are mechanisms underlying these effects. As a tricyclic carbamoyl pyridone analog, dolutegravir is rapidly absorbed and distributes through the cerebrospinal fluid. It is hepatically metabolized by uridine diphosphate glucuronosyl transferase 1A1; no inhibition or induction of cytochrome P450 enzymes is noted. As a substrate of CYP 3A4, dolutegravir is affected by rifampin, efavirenz, tipranavir/ritonavir, fosamprenavir/ritonavir, and dose increase is required. Dolutegravir inhibits the organic cation transporter 2, resulting in decreased creatinine clearance with no apparent decrease in renal function. Other adverse effects are minimal but include diarrhea, headache, and nausea. Clinical trials in treatment-naïve and experienced patients are ongoing and will be presented in this text. Objective: The study reported here aimed to evaluate the clinician-perceived effects of patient satisfaction ratings on job satisfaction and clinical care. Methods: A 26-item survey, developed by a state medical society in 2012 to assess the effects of patient satisfaction surveys, was administered online to physician members of a state-level medical society. Respondents remained anonymous. Results: One hundred fifty five physicians provided responses (3.9% of the estimated 4,000 physician members of the state-level medical society, or approximately 16% of the state's emergency department [ED] physicians). The respondents were predominantly male (85%) and practicing in solo or private practice (45%), hospital (43%), or academia (15%). The majority were ED (57%), followed by primary care (16%) physicians. Fifty-nine percent reported that their compensation was linked to patient satisfaction ratings. Seventy-eight percent reported that patient satisfaction surveys moderately or severely affected their job satisfaction; 28% had considered quitting their job or leaving the medical profession. Twenty percent reported their employment being threatened because of patient satisfaction data. Almost half believed that pressure to obtain better scores promoted inappropriate care, including unnecessary antibiotic and opioid prescriptions, tests, procedures, and hospital admissions. Among 52 qualitative responses, only three were positive. Conclusion: These pilot-level data suggest that patient satisfaction survey utilization may promote, under certain circumstances, job dissatisfaction, attrition, and inappropriate clinical care among some physicians. This is concerning, especially in the context of the progressive incorporation of patient satisfaction ratings as a quality-of-care metric, and highlights the need for a rigorous evaluation of the optimal methods for survey implementation and utilization. It was the first medication in a novel class of antiretroviral agents to be approved for use in the United States in 2007. Raltegravir exhibits potent activity against wild-type HIV-1, but resistance development has been noted through three different pathways. It is metabolized primarily through uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 and has a single inactive glucuronide metabolite. Raltegravir is not a substrate, inhibitor, or inducer of cytochrome P450 enzymes and exhibits low potential for drug–drug interactions; however, strong uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 inhibitors or inducers can alter the pharmacokinetics of raltegravir. It is well tolerated, and the most commonly reported adverse effects include headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Serious adverse effects with raltegravir are rare but include rhabdomyolysis and severe skin and hypersensitivity reactions. It has been approved for use in both treatment-naïve and treatment-experienced patients and is a preferred first-line agent in both United States and European HIV treatment guidelines. Although initial approval was granted on 48-week data, 5-year clinical data have recently been published. During murine kidney development, canonical WNT signaling is highly active in tubules until about embryonic days E16-E18. At this time, β-catenin transcriptional activity is progressively restricted to the nephrogenic zone. The cilial protein genes PKD1 and PKD2 are known to be mutated in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), and previous studies proposed that these mutations could lead to a failure to suppress canonical WNT signaling activity. Several in vitro studies have found a link between cilial signaling and β-catenin regulation, suggesting that aberrant activity might contribute to the cystic phenotype. To study this, we crossed T-cell factor (TCF)/β-catenin-lacZ reporter mice with mice having Pkd1 or Pkd2 mutations and found that there was no β-galactosidase staining in cells lining the renal cysts. Thus, suppression of canonical WNT activity, defined by the TCF/β-catenin-lacZ reporter, is normal in these two different models of polycystic kidney disease. Hence, excessive β-catenin transcriptional activity may not contribute to cystogenesis in these models of ADPKD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Depression and other mood disorders occur in approximately 25 percent of terminal patients. Untreated, depression and mood disorders can have a significantly negative impact on patients and families. Screening for depression can be done as easily as asking one question: 'are you depressed?' A positive response to this question can be followed with one of the more extensive screening tools. Anxiety disorders can also have a negative effect on patients and their families. These can be identified by also using one of the validated screening tools. Use of the antidepressant medications for treating depression and, in some cases, anxiety disorders has not been well studied in hospice and palliative care. The purpose of this study was to examine barriers family physicians face when providing hospice care. A questionnaire was developed by the authors, and was mailed to 1,013 randomly selected AAFP members. The questionnaire addressed the various hospice care barriers. The respondents felt comfortable with hospice care, but felt that they did not receive adequate education in this area. They stated that they do have access to hospice programs. There is a general belief on the part of the respondents that their education in death and dying issues, and in hospice care was inadequate. Cryopreservation of human zygotes and embryos has been routinely performed by in-vitro fertilization clinics for many years. Karran and Legge (1996) first reported that formaldehyde (FA) present in the cryoprotective solutions can have a deleterious effect on mouse oocytes. FA is a cytotoxic, carcinogenic and mutagenic chemical. The effect of FA on mouse zygotes was investigated. In addition, the concentrations of FA in propanediol (PROH) obtained from various sources were determined. Pooled 1-cell embryos were dispensed into droplets of modified Ham's F10 or human tubal fluid containing various concentrations of FA. Since bovine serum albumin (BSA) may minimize toxicity additional trials were done as above in the absence of BSA. FA concentration in the standard 1.5 M PROH, from different sources in water, was measured in the same assay using a standard curve of 0-100 μM FA. FA in a complex medium had a significant deleterious effect on embryo development and hatching but only at 1 mM concentration (P < 0.000001; see Tables I-III). There was no significant effect of FA at 100 μM. However, in a simple medium even 50 μM FA decreased embryo hatching. FA was present in 1.5 M PROH from different sources (range 1.0-35.3 μM concentration). It appears that FA concentrations do not increase with storage because FA concentrations were low even after opening and storage for 3 years on the shelf. This suggests that FA is a contaminant during the manufacturing process and may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and batch to batch. Until further studies are done to confirm the lack of toxicity to embryos during cryopreservation (with or without FA scavengers) it may be prudent to screen all batches of cryoprotectants for FA as part of quality control. We examined correlates of intimate partner violence (IPV) in a military Veteran sample (N = 129) using Finkel's (2007) framework for understanding the interactions between impelling and disinhibiting risk factors. Correlates investigated included head contact events (HCEs), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, and antisocial features. Results indicated that antisocial features were significantly associated with IPV at the bivariate level. PTSD symptoms also were associated with IPV, but this association was marginally significant. Tests of moderation provided support for the expectation that HCEs would potentiate associations between antisocial features and IPV. HCEs also moderated the association between PTSD symptoms and IPV. However, contrary to expectations, the opposite pattern emerged such that PTSD symptoms were associated with a higher rate of IPV for those without a history of HCEs. Study findings have potentially important implications for furthering our understanding of the complex etiology of IPV in this population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previous studies have identified high rates of burnout among health care workers and health professions faculty. Despite interventions being showcased at national meetings in both posters and platform presentations, there is minimal peer-reviewed published research focusing on professional well-being interventions and their assessments specific to pharmacy faculty. This commentary serves as a call to action to design and publish research related to work-system interventions to decrease burnout and promote professional well-being among all academic pharmacy faculty, and particularly subgroups who may be most at risk, such as women and assistant-level faculty. Objective: Research indicates that perceived injustice significantly influences pain-related outcomes and is associated with delayed recovery in adults. This systematic review examines the relationship between perceived injustice and pain-related outcomes in children with pain conditions., Methods: A search of published studies in English in PubMed, PsychInfo, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews from database inception through December 2022 were performed. The search criteria focused on studies that measured perceived injustice and pain-related outcomes in children with pain conditions. Out of 56 articles screened, 8 met the inclusion criteria, providing data on 1240 children with pain conditions., Results: The average age of participants across all studies was 14.12 years (SD = 2.25), with 68.2% being female. There was strong evidence that higher perceived injustice is associated with worse pain intensity, functional disability, mental health outcomes, and emotional, social, and school functioning., Conclusion: The results of this study underscore how perceptions of injustice are associated various pain-related outcomes across different domains of children's lives. The findings highlight the need for screening and treatments targeting injustice appraisals in pediatric populations with pain conditions. Objective: We compared the performance of 2 breast cancer screening approaches, automated breast US (ABUS) with same-day mammography (ABUS/MG) and handheld US (HHUS) with same-day mammography (HHUS/MG), in women with dense breasts to better understand the relative usefulness of ABUS and HHUS in a real-world clinical setting., Methods: In this institutional review board-approved, retrospective observational study, we evaluated all ABUS/MG and HHUS/MG screening examinations performed at our institution from May 2013 to September 2021. BI-RADS categories, biopsy pathology results, and diagnostic test characteristics (eg, sensitivity, specificity) were compared between the 2 screening approaches using Fisher's exact test., Results: A total of 1120 women with dense breasts were included in this study, with 852 undergoing ABUS/MG and 268 undergoing HHUS/MG. The sensitivities of ABUS/MG and HHUS/MG were 100% (5/5) and 75.0% (3/4), respectively, which was not a statistically significant difference (P  = .444). The ABUS/MG approach demonstrated a slightly higher specificity (97.4% [825/847] vs 94.3% [249/264]; P = .028), higher accuracy (97.4% [830/852] vs 94.0% [252/268]; P = .011), and lower biopsy recommendation rate (3.2% [27/852] vs 6.7% [18/268]; P = .019) than the HHUS/MG approach in our patient population., Conclusion: Our findings suggest that ABUS/MG performs comparably with HHUS/MG as a breast cancer screening approach in women with dense breasts in a real-world clinical setting, with the ABUS/MG approach demonstrating a similar sensitivity and slightly higher specificity than the HHUS/MG approach. Scaling up the manufacture of cell therapies can be complex and challenging. Maintaining critical quality attributes of the cell product during its final formulation and fill-finish into multiple containers can be especially difficult and laborious. Here, we tested the automated Finia™ Fill and Finish System to efficiently scale up the formulation and fill-finish of a T cell product, and then assessed cell quality and product consistency across different sub-lots filled during this expanded process. We found that this automated system could be effectively scaled to 4 times its singular capacity in a 2-h time interval, with variation in cell number and product volume less than 12% across all containers. Analysis of the different sub-lots of the final product revealed high cell viability and consistent T cell phenotype, with a high proportion of effector memory and central memory T cells and low expression of T cell senescence and exhaustion markers. The functionality of the T cell product was compared by measuring cytokine response after restimulation, with secreted levels of effector cytokines like IFN-γ and TNF-α being similar across the different sub-lots. Collectively, these results show that automation can scale up the formulation and fill-finish of a cell manufacturing process while maintaining the phenotype and functionality of the cell product. Beluga whales play a critical role in the subsistence economies and cultural heritage of Indigenous communities across the Arctic, yet the effects of Indigenous hunting on beluga whales remain unknown. Here, we integrate paleogenomics, genetic simulations, and stable δ 13 C and δ 15 N isotope analysis to investigate 700 y of beluga subsistence hunting in the Mackenzie Delta area of northwestern Canada. Genetic identification of the zooarchaeological remains, which is based on radiocarbon dating, span three time periods (1290 to 1440 CE; 1450 to 1650 CE; 1800 to 1870 CE), indicates shifts across time in the sex ratio of the harvested belugas. The equal number of females and males harvested in 1450 to 1650 CE versus more males harvested in the two other time periods may reflect changes in hunting practices or temporal shifts in beluga availability. We find temporal shifts and sex-based differences in δ 13 C of the harvested belugas across time, suggesting historical adaptability in the foraging ecology of the whales. We uncovered distinct mitochondrial diversity unique to the Mackenzie Delta belugas, but found no changes in nuclear genomic diversity nor any substructuring across time. Our findings indicate the genomic stability and continuity of the Mackenzie Delta beluga population across the 700 y surveyed, indicating the impact of Inuvialuit subsistence harvests on the genetic diversity of contemporary beluga individuals has been negligible., Competing Interests: Competing interests statement:The authors declare no competing interest.

Exercise and diet are beneficial for pain, yet many patients do not receive such recommendations from providers. This may be due to biases related to gender, race, and weight. We recruited medical students (N = 90) to view videos of women with chronic back pain performing a functional task; patients varied by weight (overweight/obese) and race (Black/White). For each woman patient, providers rated their likelihood of recommending exercises or dietary changes. Ratings significantly differed across recommendations (F(2.75, 244.72) = 6.19, P < .01) in that providers were more likely to recommend flexibility exercises than aerobic exercises and dietary changes and were more likely to recommend strength exercises than dietary changes. Results also indicated that women with obesity were more likely to receive aerobic (F(1,89) = 17.20, P < .01), strength (F(1,89) = 6.08, P = .02), and dietary recommendations (F(1,89) = 37.56, P < .01) than were women with overweight. Additionally, White women were more likely to receive a recommendation for flexibility exercises (F(1,89) = 4.92, P = .03) than Black women. Collectively, these findings suggest that providers' exercise and dietary recommendations for women with chronic pain are influenced by the weight status and racial identity of the patient. Future studies are needed to identify the reasons underlying these systematic differences, including the stereotypes and attitudes that may be driving these effects. PERSPECTIVE: This article presents results on how patient weight and race impact providers' exercise and diet recommendations for women with chronic back pain. Background and Purpose: The hypoperfusion intensity ratio is a surrogate marker for collateral status and a predictor of infarct growth, malignant cerebral edema, and hemorrhagic transformation. Its utility to predict a poor NIHSS score and early neurologic deterioration after mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel (LVO) versus distal and medium vessel occlusions (DMVO) has not been investigated. The objective of this study was to determine whether the higher hypoperfusion intensity ratio is associated with a worse NIHSS score at 24 hours post-mechanical thrombectomy and early neurologic deterioration in LVO versus DMVO acute ischemic stroke., Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective study of 231 patients with acute ischemic stroke with LVO or DMVO amenable for mechanical thrombectomy and available CTP for hypoperfusion intensity ratio assessment pre-mechanical thrombectomy. Clinical and imaging characteristics were abstracted from the medical records. The primary outcome was the NIHSS score at 24 hours post-mechanical thrombectomy. The secondary outcome was early neurologic deterioration, defined as a >4-point increase in the NIHSS score between the initial assessment and 24 hours post-mechanical thrombectomy. All analyses were first conducted in the entire cohort and then separately for the LVO versus DMVO groups., Results: The optimal hypoperfusion intensity ratio threshold to detect early neurologic deterioration was 0.54. A hypoperfusion intensity ratio ≥ 0.54 was more frequently present in LVO versus DMVO ( n  = 37 [77.1%] versus n  = 11 [22.9%]; P  < .001). On multivariable linear regression, the hypoperfusion intensity ratio ≥ 0.54 was independently associated with a worse NIHSS score at 24 hours post-mechanical thrombectomy in the entire cohort (β = 0.163; P  = .002) and the LVO group (β = 0.210; P  = .005), but not in the DMVO group. The early neurologic deterioration occurred in 26 (11.3%) subjects. On multivariable logistic regression, there was no association of the hypoperfusion intensity ratio ≥ 0.54 with early neurologic deterioration in the entire cohort. However, when analyzed separately, a hypoperfusion intensity ratio ≥ 0.54 significantly increased the odds of early neurologic deterioration in subjects with LVO (OR = 5.263; 95% CI, 1.170-23.674; P  = .030) but not in the DMVO group., Conclusions: The hypoperfusion intensity ratio ≥ 0.54 was independently associated with a worse 24-hour post-mechanical thrombectomy NIHSS score and early neurologic deterioration in LVO, but not in DMVO acute ischemic stroke. Pending confirmation in future, prospective studies assessing the hypoperfusion intensity ratio may help identify patients at risk of secondary decline to improve peri-thrombectomy care and clinical decision-making., (© 2024 by American Journal of Neuroradiology.)

As patients transition between health care settings, they are at an increased risk of adverse events and medication errors as a result of medication changes and miscommunication. Pharmacists have traditionally provided transitions of care (TOC) services, including patient education, in a face-to-face manner with the goal of reducing medication errors and enhancing patient safety and understanding. However, changes in care delivery models, a burdened health care workforce, and diminishing resources necessitate innovative approaches for the provision of patient education within TOC. Objective: We investigated patient experience with screening contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) to determine whether a general population of women with dense breasts would accept CEM in a screening setting., Methods: In this institutional review board-approved prospective study, patients with heterogeneous and extremely dense breasts on their mammogram were invited to undergo screening CEM and complete pre-CEM and post-CEM surveys. On the pre-CEM survey, patients were asked about their attitudes regarding supplemental screening in general. On the post-CEM survey, patients were asked about their experience undergoing screening CEM, including causes and severity of any discomfort and whether they would consider undergoing screening CEM again in the future or recommend it to a friend., Results: One hundred sixty-three women were surveyed before and after screening CEM. Most patients, 97.5% (159/163), reported minimal or no unpleasantness associated with undergoing screening CEM. In addition, 91.4% (149/163) said they would probably or very likely undergo screening CEM in the future if it cost the same as a traditional screening mammogram, and 95.1% (155/163) said they would probably or very likely recommend screening CEM to a friend. Patients in this study, who were all willing to undergo CEM, more frequently reported a family history of breast cancer than a comparison cohort of women with dense breasts (58.2% vs 47.1%, P = .027)., Conclusion: Patients from a general population of women with dense breasts reported a positive experience undergoing screening CEM, suggesting screening CEM might be well received by this patient population, particularly if the cost was comparable with traditional screening mammography., (© Society of Breast Imaging 2024. We evaluated the association between childbirth and having medical debt in collections and examined differences by neighborhood socioeconomic status. Among a statewide cohort of commercially insured pregnant (n=14,560) and postpartum (n=12,157) adults, having medical debt in collections was more likely among postpartum individuals compared with pregnant individuals (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.36, 95% CI 1.27-1.46) and those in lowest-income neighborhoods compared with all others (aOR 2.18, 95% CI 2.02-2.35). Postpartum individuals in lowest-income neighborhoods had the highest predicted probabilities of having medical debt in collections (28.9%, 95% CI 27.5-30.3%), followed by pregnant individuals in lowest-income neighborhoods (23.2%, 95% CI 22.0-24.4%), followed by all other postpartum and pregnant people (16.1%, 95% CI 15.4-16.8% and 12.5%, 95% CI 11.9-13.0%, respectively). Our findings suggest that current peripartum out-of-pocket costs are objectively more than many commercially insured families can afford, leading to medical debt. The optimal laboratory monitoring frequency for outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy-related adverse events (OPAT-AEs) during cefazolin and ceftriaxone therapy is not well defined. Our institution sought to evaluate our antimicrobial stewardship empiric treatment recommendations for Salmonella . Results from 36 isolates demonstrated reduced susceptibilities to fluoroquinolones with 1 isolate susceptible only to ceftriaxone. Background: The Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at Nebraska Medicine collaborated with a board-certified allergist to develop a penicillin allergy guidance document for treating inpatients with self-reported allergy. This guidance contains an algorithm for evaluating and safely challenging penicillin-allergic patients with beta-lactams without inpatient allergy consults being available., Methods: Following multi-disciplinary review, an order set for beta-lactam graded challenges (GC) was implemented in 2018. This contains recommended monitoring and detailed medication orders to challenge patients with various beta-lactam agents. Inpatient orders for GC from 3/2018-6/2022 were retrospectively reviewed to evaluate ordering characteristics, outcomes of the challenge, and whether documentation of the allergy history was updated. All beta-lactam challenges administered to inpatients were included, and descriptive statistics were performed., Results: Overall, 157 GC were administered; 13 with oral amoxicillin and 144 with intravenous (IV) beta-lactams. Ceftriaxone accounted for the most challenges (43%). All oral challenges were recommended by an Infectious Diseases consult service, as were a majority of IV challenges (60%). Less than one in five were administered in an ICU (19%). Almost all ( n  = 150, 96%) were tolerated without any adverse event. There was one reaction (1%) of hives and six (4%) involving a rash, none of which had persistent effects. Allergy information was updated in the electronic health record after 92% of the challenges., Conclusion: Both intravenous and oral beta-lactam graded challenges were implemented successfully in a hospital without a regular inpatient allergy consult service. They were well-tolerated, administered primarily in non-ICU settings, and were often ordered by non-specialist services. Purpose: Stress may negatively influence the health and academic performance of healthcare professional students and correlates with stress and burnout as a healthcare professional. This study measured student pharmacist well-being and compared the well-being of first- through third-year student pharmacists., Methods: In fall 2019, the investigators administered an online survey to first- through third-year student pharmacists to assess student pharmacist well-being. Items included the World Health Organization-5 Well-being Index (WHO-5) and demographic variables. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed. Descriptive statistics were used to measure well-being, and a Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to determine whether there were differences between professional years., Results: Approximately 64.8% of student pharmacists (n = 248 of 383) completed the survey. Overall, 66.1% of respondents were female (n = 164) and 31% of respondents were Caucasian (n =77), while 31% (n =77) were African American; the majority ranged in age from 24 to 29 years. There was not a statistically significant difference in WHO-5 score between the different classes (P = 0.183), with an average WHO-5 score out of 100 of 38.2 for first-year students, 41.2 for second-year students, and 41.04 for third-year students, showing poor well-being for students in all 3 professional years., Conclusion: Because of emergent evidence of increased stress and negative outcomes in university students, it is imperative that pharmacy programs expand their efforts in assessment of student pharmacist well-being. While this research manuscript revealed poor well-being in all 3 professional years, it did not identify a statistically significant difference in WHO-5 score between classes. Background: Net effects of implementation of a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) pneumonia panel (PNP) on antimicrobial stewardship are thus far unknown. This retrospective study evaluated the real-world impact of the PNP on time to antibiotic de-escalation in critically ill patients treated for pneumonia at an academic medical center., Methods: This retrospective, quasi-experimental study included adult intensive care unit (ICU) patients with respiratory culture results from 1 May to 15 August 2019 (pre-PNP group) and adult ICU patients with PNP results from 1 May to 15 August 2020 (PNP group) at Nebraska Medical Center. Patients were excluded for the following reasons: any preceding positive coronavirus disease 2019 PCR test, lack of antibiotic receipt, or non-respiratory tract infection indications for antibiotics. The primary outcome was time to discontinuation of anti-methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) therapy. Secondary outcomes included time to discontinuation of antipseudomonal therapy, frequency of early discontinuation for atypical coverage, and overall duration (in days) of antibiotic therapy for pneumonia., Results: Sixty-six patients in the pre-PNP group and 58 in the PNP group were included. There were significant differences in patient characteristics between groups. The median time to anti-MRSA agent discontinuation was 49.1 hours in the pre-PNP and 41.8 hours in the PNP group ( P = .28). The median time to discontinuation of antipseudomonal agents was 134.4 hours in the pre-PNP versus 98.1 hours in the PNP group ( P = .47). Other outcomes were numerically but not significantly improved in our sample., Conclusions: This early look at implementation of a multiplex PNP did not demonstrate a statistically significant difference in antibiotic use but lays the groundwork to further evaluate a significant real-world impact on antibiotic de-escalation in ICU patients treated for pneumonia., Competing Interests: Potential conflicts of interest: T.
