The Big Data expansion is emerging alongside the development of information technology. Increasing the number of processes drastically increases the number of data. Data are in various forms from paper, audio, geological, digital and other forms. At the same time, computers are becoming increasingly accessible in all spheres of life. Computers take over the role of Big Data management, manipulating them, switching from one location to another and processing them. New technologies are being developed with the aim of managing data in order to improve business reporting, analysis and identifying opportunities to improve business. Therefore, digitization becomes an imperative in the data management strategy.

Nonconformity detection and reporting are evergoing issues in quality management practice and theory. Throughout industrialisation, and consequently, in the Industry 4.0 period, manufacturing organisations strived to reduce nonconformities to the minimum level and reach zero-defect production. Nowadays, it is feasible to overcome this issue by incorporating adequate information and communication technologies and edge devices for nonconformity reporting, and nonconformity classification. These assumptions were a starting point for the research presented in this paper. This paper aims to propose a software solution for nonconformity detection and preventive and corrective actions definition that expands the utilisation of edge devices in compliance with Industry 4.0 and Quality 4.0 paradigms. Presented software solution design is based on JavaScript programming language and its ability to be implemented in all software solution's tiers through interconnected frameworks (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular, and Node.js) in a MEAN stack. The developed solution is implemented in three small and medium enterprises. Initial results show several benefits in increasing nonconformity detection and reporting, increasing employee participation in preventive and corrective actions definition and improved quality management system. The number of corrective and preventive actions was taken based on the assistance of the prediction module. All nonconformities were related to specific sections of ISO 9001:2015 standards so that quality managers and managers in the companies could have insight into the sources of the issues and the foundation for defining different managerial actions. When comparing the newly developed solution and other affordable solutions, it was determined that the new solution has a higher operating velocity if there is a significant increase in the volume of queries towards databases. The paper's main contribution reflects in the software solution's presentation intended for affordable identification and nonconformities massive workload reporting, integrated with other software modules for quality analysis, prediction, and problem-solving. In this way, it is possible to obtain horizontal scalability and richness of the proposed software solution for smart enterprises focused on World Class manufacturing and lean manufacturing. Furthermore, it is possible to achieve a shorter time for nonconformities elimination and better compliance with the ISO 9001: 2015 standard. The presented solution usage contributes to all participants involved in the organisation of production and production itself, through (1) involvement of all employees; (2) digitalisation and improvement of existing nonconformity reporting systems; (3) improvement of nonconformity perception; (4) improved awareness and evaluation of employer's contribution to nonconformity management; (5) making the technology easy to use. The research's novelty lies in presented solution utilisation for real-time nonconformity classification and proactive and corrective measures proposals through communication and prediction modules.

The paper presents the methods for prediction of the cutting parameters. In order to test the workability of the material by process of scraping, from the aspect of the cutting temperature, an natural thermopar was placed just below the cutting edge of the plate. In this way, a simple, reliable, accurate and economical method for determining the workability of material by cutting is obtained. The feasibility study of several semi-finished products by applying the realized experiments was carried out. Different materials in processing with cutting discs with different coatings give different results, which are used to form neural network and linear regression models.

Since small and medium enterprises (SME) generate the most of gross domestic product and employment opportunities in developed countries, further progress of the Industry 4.0 strongly relies on the development of dedicated solutions for SMEs-specific problems. Dimensional inspection of extruded rubber profiles represents one such an open issue in the automotive industry, which currently requires a manual measurement and comparison of profiles' cross section with the corresponding technical drawings. Starting from the requirements acquired from the industry practice, this study proposes a novel solution that automates all steps during the inspection process allowing an operator to make the final decision with respect to his observations. The proposed workflow includes the following steps: 1) image acquisition, 2) system calibration, 3) profile segmentation, 4) landmark registration and 5) augmentation of the referent technical drawing over the acquired image. The overall solution was developed by using a single camera and dedicated algorithms for profile detection and augmentation of the referent technical drawing. The extensive validation showed that the solution increased operators' productivity and reliability by a considerable margin (~6%), while it remains affordable, user-friendly and generic.

A tribological system is a complex non-linear system composed of the elements that are connected structurally and functionally. The aim of this paper is to present an overview of artificial neural networks, its development and applications of neural networks in the prediction of tribological properties of dental glass ceramic using a newly measured ball-on-plate nanotribometer. The possibility of artificial neural networks application to solve complex nonlinear problems and to identify tribological characteristics of dental glass ceramic in terms of wear rate and coefficient of friction is presented.

In a modern era of information technologies, everyday changes are more numerous and various. One of those changes is related to the greater use of mobile devices in a decision making processes. They may be used in the field of automation and improvement of production processes. Their main purpose may be seen as the achievement of optimal production quality, lower production costs, timely deliveries, rational management of material and information flows. Having this in mind, it may be said that interactive data processing from different data sources and the application of artificial intelligence methods is possible within the field of metal coating data processing and prediction. In this paper, novel developed model and expert system, which consists of mobile databases and neural network for the prediction of quality of coating has been presented. Input data obtained from the databases are related to the starting conditions of deposition and the quality of the given coating material, while the target data are related to the thickness and roughness of the material surfaces. Application of the presented solution may confirm the possibility of integration of mobile databases and neural networks within a mobile expert system in the field of modern production systems.

Numerous research results indicate that the finishing processing of metal materials using ball burnishing has positive effects from the aspect of surface roughness decrease to the hardness increase in the surface layers of the processed materials. Little research has been devoted to this type of processing for nonmetal materials. This paper presents research results related to the influence of ball burnishing processing on the hardness increase of a wooden element. It was determined that the hardness can be increased up to three times for processing of wood using this technology, which is not the case for processing of metal materials.

Globalisation of world economy brings new and more complex demands to business systems. In order to respond to these trends, business systems apply new paradigms that are inevitable reflecting on management metasystems – quality assurance (QA), as well as on information technology (IT) metasystems. Small and medium enterprises (in particular in food industry) do not have possibilities to access external resources to the extent that could provide adequate keeping up with these trends. That raises the question how to enhance synergetic effect of interaction between existing QA and IT metasystems in order to overcome resource gap and achieve set goals by internal resources. In this paper, a design of optimal facility layout, for already existing factory, using a Schmigalla method combined with software tool visTABLE for layout modelling and optimization is presented. It is called static facility layout planning. Schmigalla method belongs to heuristic type of methods. These method types should be combined with some other methods or tools. Combination of this method in conceptual phase and software visTABLE for layout modelling and optimization in optimization phase is presented. For real-world industrial application, this particular combination is obtaining significant improvement results. Layout designing was realized on a real production process example with 15 different products. In a first part of paper, a production process with all the data is presented. After that, in second part, a theoretical and mathematical of Schmigalla method as a base for layout modelling was used. Then, in third part, Schmigalla method layout transformation was practically (virtually) realized with software visTABLE. In fourth part, after layout realization of a virtual layout model, software visTABLE was additionally used (manually and automatically) for finding an optimal layout solution.

Cutting temperature is very important parameter of cutting process. Around 90% of heat generated during cutting process is then away by sawdust, and the rest is transferred to the tool and workpiece. In this research cutting temperature was measured with artificial thermocouples and question of investigation of metal machinability from aspect of cutting temperature was analyzed. For investigation of material machinability during turning artificial thermocouple was placed just below the cutting top of insert, and for drilling thermocouples were placed through screw holes on the face surface. In this way was obtained simple, reliable, economic and accurate method for investigation of cutting machinability.

U radu je analizirana mogućnost praćenja parametra OEE kod infrastrukture "Železnice Srbije" ad. Transformacija indikatora i obrasca za OEE u odgovarajući koji se koristi za željezničku infrastrukturu zove se ukupna efektivnost željezničke infrastrukture (overall railway infrastructure effectiveness - ORIE). U radu je predstavljen model za izračun ukupne efektivnost željezničke infrastrukture (ORIE). Dokazano je da se program, koji funkcionira na Švedskim željeznicama, može prilagoditi da funkcionira i na infrastrukturi "Železnice Srbije" ad. U radu je izvršena prilagodba i prijedlog obrazaca ORIE koji će zadovoljiti specifične potrebe za izračun vrijednosti za "Železnice Srbije" ad. Studijom slučaja izračunato je za tri relacije pruga u Sekciji za infrastrukturu čvora Požarevac, da se vrijednost ORIE utemeljena na realnim podacima razlikuje od 47,95 % do 60,71 %., This paper analyzed the possibility of monitoring the parameter OEE for "Serbia Railways" JSC. Transpatternation of indicators and of pattern for OEE in order to make them appropriate for use in railway infrastructure is known as Overall Railway Infrastructure Effectiveness - ORIE. This work represented a model for calculation of ORIE. It is proven that the program, which works at Swedish railways, can be adapted in order to make it functional for infrastructure of "Serbia Railways" JSC. Also, this work includes conducted adaptation and proposal of ORIE patterns which will satisfy specific needs for calculation of values for "Serbia Railways" JSC. Using the case study, it is calculated for three railway relations in Section for infrastructure of Požarevac that the value of ORIE based on real data differs in rang from 47,95 % to 60,71 %.

Reviewed in this paper are the results of theoretical and experimental investigation of a novel down milling method. The method is based on controlling feed speed using conservative forces, where the active force which provides motion is the horizontal component of the cutting force. Feed motion is therefore realized without any active forces (active drive systems), while the feed speed is regulated by precision breaking of the workpiece, which is possible through hydraulic damping. In addition to the basic theoretical model of the feed drive system, the paper also presents the dynamic model of the drive system, taking into consideration fluid compressibility. Based on the model proposed, a physical instance of the feed drive system was designed, built and tested. The results of preliminary experimental investigation speak in favour of the proposed theoretical model, which enables practical application of this type of feed drive systems.

In this paper, we present a method for development and specification of web services based on the quality system documentation. The general assumption is that service oriented architecture is based on business services and these business services mostly correspond to exchanged documentation in a real business system. Documentation of a quality system is recognized in form of documents that describe business processes in a real business system and identify exchanged documentation with environment. Presented method uses documentation of quality system and documentation flow for web service specification. We developed the CASE tool for web service specification based on a new approach, and we compare it to other existing tools.
