Myocardial remodeling is an inevitable risk factor for cardiac arrhythmias and can potentially be corrected with cell therapy. Although the generation of cardiac cells ex vivo is possible, specific approaches to cell replacement therapy remain unclear. On the one hand, adhesive myocyte cells must be viable and conjugated with the electromechanical syncytium of the recipient tissue, which is unattainable without an external scaffold substrate. On the other hand, the outer scaffold may hinder cell delivery, for example, making intramyocardial injection difficult. To resolve this contradiction, we developed molecular vehicles that combine a wrapped (rather than outer) polymer scaffold that is enveloped by the cell and provides excitability restoration (lost when cells were harvested) before engraftment. It also provides a coating with human fibronectin, which initiates the process of graft adhesion into the recipient tissue and can carry fluorescent markers for the external control of the non-invasive cell position. In this work, we used a type of scaffold that allowed us to use the advantages of a scaffold-free cell suspension for cell delivery. Fragmented nanofibers (0.85 µm ± 0.18 µm in diameter) with fluorescent labels were used, with solitary cells seeded on them. Cell implantation experiments were performed in vivo. The proposed molecular vehicles made it possible to establish rapid (30 min) electromechanical contact between excitable grafts and the recipient heart. Excitable grafts were visualized with optical mapping on a rat heart with Langendorff perfusion at a 0.72 ± 0.32 Hz heart rate. Thus, the pre-restored grafts’ excitability (with the help of a wrapped polymer scaffold) allowed rapid electromechanical coupling with the recipient tissue. This information could provide a basis for the reduction of engraftment arrhythmias in the first days after cell therapy.

We study measurable elements of a Riesz space $E$, i.e. elements $e \in E \setminus \{0\}$ for which the Boolean algebra $\mathfrak{F}_e$ of fragments of $e$ is measurable. In particular, we prove that the set $E_{\rm meas}$ of all measurable elements of a Riesz space $E$ with the principal projection property together with zero is a $\sigma$-ideal of $E$. Another result asserts that, for a Riesz space $E$ with the principal projection property the following assertions are equivalent. (1) The Boolean algebra $\mathcal{U}$ of bands of $E$ is measurable. (2) $E_{\rm meas} = E$ and $E$ satisfies the countable chain condition. (3) $E$ can be embedded as an order dense subspace of $L_0(\mu)$ for some probability measure $\mu$.

Our main result asserts that, under some assumptions, the uniformly-to-order continuity of an order bounded orthogonally additive operator between vector lattices together with its horizontally-to-order continuity implies its order continuity (we say that a mapping f : E → F between vector lattices E and F is horizontally-to-order continuous provided f sends laterally increasing order convergent nets in E to order convergent nets in F, and f is uniformly-to-order continuous provided f sends uniformly convergent nets to order convergent nets).

The article describes dark-coloured pigments based on salts, hydroxides and other chemical compounds of three metals: copper, manganese, and cobalt. The chemical properties of each type of the pigments, viz. verdigris, Scheele’s green, Schweinfurth green, blue verditer, malachite green, manganese blue, manganese violet, manganese green, cobalt violet, cobalt blue, are given, and the application fields are specified.

A projection lateral band $G$ in a Riesz space $E$ is defined to be a lateral band which is the image of an orthogonally additive projection $Q: E \to E$ possessing the property that $Q(x)$ is a fragment of $x$ for all $x \in E$, called a lateral retraction of $E$ onto $G$ (which is then proved to be unique). We investigate properties of lateral retracts, that are, images of lateral retractions, and describe lateral retractions onto principal projection lateral bands (i.e. lateral bands generated by single elements) in a Riesz space with the principal projection property. Moreover, we prove that every lateral retract is a lateral band, and every lateral band in a Dedekind complete Riesz space is a projection lateral band.

We say that a Riesz space E E has the horizontal Egorov property if for every net ( f α ) (f_\alpha ) in E E , order convergent to f ∈ E f \in E with | f α | + | f | ≤ e ∈ E + |f_\alpha | + |f| \le e \in E^+ for all α \alpha , there exists a net ( e β ) (e_\beta ) of fragments of e e laterally convergent to e e such that for every β \beta , the net ( | f − f α | ∧ e β ) α \bigl (|f - f_\alpha | \wedge e_\beta \bigr )_\alpha e e -uniformly tends to zero. Our main result asserts that every Dedekind complete Riesz space which satisfies the weak distributive law possesses the horizontal Egorov property. A Riesz space E E is said to satisfy the weak distributive law if for every e ∈ E + ∖ { 0 } e \in E^+ \setminus \{0\} the Boolean algebra F e \mathfrak {F}_e of fragments of e e satisfies the weak distributive law; that is, whenever ( Π n ) n ∈ N (\Pi _n)_{n \in \mathbb N} is a sequence of partitions of F e \mathfrak {F}_e , there is a partition Π \Pi of F e \mathfrak {F}_e such that every element of Π \Pi is finitely covered by each of Π n \Pi _n (e.g., every measurable Boolean algebra is so). Using a new technical tool, we show that for every net ( f α ) (f_\alpha ) order convergent to f f in a Riesz space with the horizontal Egorov property there are a horizontally vanishing net ( v β ) (v_\beta ) and a net ( u α , β ) ( α , β ) ∈ A × B (u_{\alpha , \beta })_{(\alpha , \beta ) \in A \times B} , which uniformly tends to zero for every fixed β \beta such that | f − f α | ≤ u α , β + v β |f - f_\alpha | \le u_{\alpha , \beta } + v_\beta for all α , β \alpha , \beta .

The present note was written during the preparation of the talk at the International Conference dedicated to 70-th anniversary of Professor O. Lopushansky, September 16-19, 2019, Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine). We focus on two long standing open problems. The first one, due to Lindenstrauss and Rosenthal (1969), asks of whether every complemented infinite dimensional subspace of $L_1$ is isomorphic to either $L_1$ or $\ell_1$. The second problem was posed by Enflo and Rosenthal in 1973: does there exist a nonseparable space $L_p(\mu)$ with finite atomless $\mu$ and $1

We prove that, given any ordinal $\delta < \omega_2$, there exists a transfinite $\delta$-sequence of separable Banach spaces $(X_\alpha)_{\alpha < \delta}$ such that $X_\alpha$ embeds isomorphically into $X_\beta$ and contains no subspace isomorphic to $X_\beta$ for all $\alpha < \beta < \delta$. All these spaces are subspaces of the Banach space $E_p = \bigl( \bigoplus_{n=1}^\infty \ell_p \bigr)_2$, where $1 \leq p < 2$. Moreover, assuming Martin's axiom, we prove the same for all ordinals $\delta$ of continuum cardinality.

The paper contains a systematic study of the lateral partial order $$\sqsubseteq $$ ⊑ in a Riesz space (the relation $$x \sqsubseteq y$$ x ⊑ y means that x is a fragment of y) with applications to nonlinear analysis of Riesz spaces. We introduce and study lateral fields, lateral ideals, lateral bands and consistent subsets and show the importance of these notions to the theory of orthogonally additive operators, like ideals and bands are important for linear operators. We prove the existence of a lateral band projection, provide an elegant formula for it and prove some properties of this orthogonally additive operator. One of our main results (Theorem 7.5) asserts that, if D is a lateral field in a Riesz space E with the intersection property, X a vector space and $$T_0:D\rightarrow X$$ T 0 : D → X an orthogonally additive operator, then there exists an orthogonally additive extension $$T:E\rightarrow X$$ T : E → X of $$T_0$$ T 0 . The intersection property of E means that every two-point subset of E has an infimum with respect to the lateral order. In particular, the principal projection property implies the intersection property.

The paper presents features of the location and composition, as well as a generalization of data on the age of rare-metal mineralization developed at the deposits and occurrences of rare metals and gemstones in the eastern rim of Murzinsko-Aduysky anticlinorium, within the Ural Emerald Belt, which is a classic ore and mineralogical object and has been studied for almost two hundred years. With a significant number and variety of prospecting, research and scientific works devoted mainly to emerald-bearing mica complexes and beryl mineralization, as well as rare-metal pegmatites, scientific literature has so far lacked generalizations on the formation of numerous mineral associations and ore formations that represents a uniform genetic process in this ore district. The aim of the work is a comprehensive geological-mineralogical analysis of mineral associations of the eastern rim of Murzinsko-Aduysky anticlinorium and studying their age, formation conditions and characteristic features to determine the possibility of expanding and using the mineral resource base of the Urals through developing new prognostic and prospecting criteria for rare-metal and gemstone ore formations and creating the new devices for promising objects prospecting

The interaction of water with confining surfaces is primarily governed by the wetting properties of the wall material—in particular, whether it is hydrophobic or hydrophilic. The hydrophobicity or hydrophilicity itself is determined primarily by the atomic structure and polarity of the surface groups. In the present work, we used molecular dynamics to study the structure and properties of nanoscale water layers confined between layered metal hydroxide surfaces with a brucite-like structure. The influence of the surface polarity of the confining material on the properties of nanoconfined water was studied in the pressure range of 0.1–10 GPa. This pressure range is relevant for many geodynamic phenomena, hydrocarbon recovery, contact spots of tribological systems, and heterogeneous materials under extreme mechanical loading. Two phase transitions were identified in water confined within 2 nm wide slit-shaped nanopores: (1) at p1 = 3.3–3.4 GPa, the liquid transforms to a solid phase with a hexagonal close-packed (HCP) crystal structure, and (2) at p2 = 6.7–7.1 GPa, a further transformation to face-centered cubic (FCC) crystals occurs. It was found that the behavior of the confined water radically changes when the partial charges (and, therefore, the surface polarity) are reduced. In this case, water transforms directly from the liquid phase to an FCC-like phase at 3.2–3.3 GPa. Numerical simulations enabled determination of the amount of hydrogen bonding and diffusivity of nanoconfined water, as well as the relationship between pressure and volumetric strain.

The Copernicus Marine service (CMEMS) in operation today routinely delivers information about the Green Ocean based on satellite and in situ data combined with numerical models. The aim is to provide users with “best estimate” representations of the state of marine ecosystems and biogeochemical indicators of interest. A key strategic evolution at Copernicus 2 horizon will be to consolidate the service with more robust information about product uncertainties, whether in real time, in delayed mode (reanalyses) and in forecast mode with a few days of lead time. In that perspective, the transition to probabilistic analysis and prediction methodologies is a necessary step, e.g. to provide more actionable information to help in decision-making and management of marine ecosystems.In the frame of the H2020 SEAMLESS project, ensemble generation methods are being developed with the aim to improve the service through better data assimilation / inversion methods. A stochastic version of the NEMO-PISCES model has been developed and implemented in a global ocean configuration at ¼° inherited from the CMEMS global Monitoring and Forecasting Centre.A 40-member ensemble is generated using 2019 unperturbed ERA5 atmospheric forcings and assuming uncertainties associated to (i) 7 critical biogeochemical model parameters of the PISCES formulation; (ii) sub-grid scale effects associated to the eddy-permitting resolution, and (iii) misplacement of mesoscale structures and associated advective/diffusive fluxes. The resulting 40-member ensemble represents a probabilistic view of the 2019 seasonal cycle in the global and North Atlantic ocean.The ensemble is analysed in terms of spread, median, min and max distributions of model state variables related to surface chlorophyll concentration, as well as on a variety of targeted indicators (e.g. NPP, phenology, trophic efficiency). In order to evaluate the relevance of the ensemble pdfs with respect to observed data, verification statistics have been produced to check the consistency against daily L4 ocean colour products from the CMEMS catalogue. The computed metrics include rank histograms, CRPS (decomposed into reliability and resolution skill scores) and RCRV.We will present a synthesis of the ensemble scores obtained in the different regions, highlighting situations where the prior ensemble is consistent with uncertainty hypotheses made in the stochastic NEMO-PISCES model. Further, we will show how to take into account irreducible uncertainties in the verification data products to compute the scores. We will discuss the sensitivity of the computed metrics against these uncertainties, underlying the importance of properly accounting for error propagation in the CMEMS TAC production chains. We will finally describe first applications of a new 4D Bayesian inversion scheme aimed at delivering probabilistic analyses and predictions with a few days of lead time.

Nowadays, rotary cutting tools (RCTs), in addition to traditional narrow-edged cutting tools, have gained wide application in machining workpieces with chip removal. One of the most advantageous features of RCTs is machining surfaces with newly updated cutting edges, which increases heat removal from the cutting zone and decreases the absolute cutting speed. However, incomplete theoretical studies in the field of processing cylindrical, conical and flat surfaces, as well as helical and shaped surfaces do not allow to the universal application of RCTs in metalworking industry. The existent applied development of RCTs by far has not allowed the widespread use of such types of tools for machining workpieces from hard-to-process and composite materials. Prospective RCTs may definitely entail steady increase in cutting modes, productivity, tool life, as well as decrease in processing time and power consumption of machine tools. Along with obtaining accurate and high-quality surfaces of the machined workpiece, adjustment of plastic deformation of the machined surface layer as well as machining promising materials have also become possible.

Based on experimental and theoretical studies, the 607 GPa bulk modulus of nanodiamond 2–5 nm was determined, which significantly exceeds the bulk modulus of diamond crystal (443 GPa) and approaches the values typical of ultrahard fullerite (600–1000 GPa). Bulk modulus of nanodiamond 2–5 nm was experimentally measured by piezospectroscopy using a diamond anvil cell with anvils made of synthetic diamond with a high (~60%) 13C isotope content. The Raman frequency in such diamond is at 1306 cm−1 and does not interfere with the recording of a peak at 1325 cm−1 of nanodiamond 2–5 nm. The bulk compression modulus was calculated from the dependence of the displacement of two Raman bands at 1325 cm−1 and 1600 cm−1 (the latter does not apply to sp2 bonds) of nanodiamond 2–5 nm on pressure up to 68 GPa. Simulation of nanodiamond 1.2–5.9 nm confirms experimental results and also predicts the rise of bulk modulus with a decrease of nanoparticles size. Analysis of simulated structures suggests a possible explanation of observed effect due to increasing contribution of surficial compressed bonds when nanoparticles size reduces.

We report on a novel state-of-the-art diffraction optical elements (DOE) based waveguide architecture for aug- mented reality (AR) display with increased field of view and method for analytical design of such an architecture. The effectiveness of the architecture results from the multiple usage of the same propagation directions inside the waveguide by different field of view parts. Unlike in previous solutions, where such approach would lead to crosstalk generation, the proposed architecture different field of view parts are propagated in different waveguide locations, separated by the corresponding DOEs. The architecture can be applied either for increasing the verti- cal field of view size or the horizontal field of view size with compensation of chromatic dispersion resulting from the diffraction. The architecture configuration, analytical derivations of the DOEs parameters, and modeling results are discussed. The architecture satisfies market demands for the form-factor, size and weight, as well as allows up to four times increase of the field of view size in comparison with the conventional solutions. For the DOEs refractive index of 1.5, the architecture provides 48x44 degrees white-light field of view within two waveguides and 56x56 degrees white-light field of view within three waveguides. For the DOEs refractive index of 1.9, the architecture provides 58x58 degrees white-light field of view within only one waveguide.

Building on a recently proposed contact-mechanical theory of friction control by external vibration, the case of large-amplitude normal oscillation is revisited. It is shown that the coefficient of friction can be expressed in particularly simple form if the waveform of the displacement oscillation is triangular or rectangular, and the contact stiffness is constant. The latter requirement limits the scope of the exact solutions to contacts between a plane and a flat-ended cylinder or a curved shape with a wear flat, but the adopted methodology also enables efficient numerical solution in more general cases.

In this paper, we highlight the distinctive features and critical areas of analytical tool application for the employee performance analytics of user activity. We describe problems of applying data analytics methods and technologies to ensure employee performance analytics. We also discuss the use of user activity time-series data analysis methods and techniques to provide employee performance analytics and describe approaches for processing unstructured data from different sources of user activity for further analytics using anomaly detection methods. Finally, we introduce a new strategy of building features from hybrid data streams from different sources and compare it with current practices.
