V članku je opisana analiza delovne atmosfere v lakirnici ene izmed pohištvenih proizvodenj v Sloveniji. Adsorbcija substanc iz zraka je potekala na aktivnem oglju, desorbcija pa s stresanjem v ogljikovem disulfidu. Z uporabo GC-MS metode smo v vzorcih določili prisotnost benzena, toulena, butacilena in izomer ksilena. The article describes the analysis of the working atmosphere in a varnish works of one of the furniture factory in Slovenia. The adsorbtion of air substances was carried out on activated carbon and the desorption by means of shaking in carbon disulphide. By the application of the GC-MS method, the presence of benzene, toulene, butyl acetate and xylene isomers was determined in the samples.

The end of 1995 was a turning point regarding the standardisation and technical conditions for determining furniture quality in use until then The JUS standards used until then, which comprised standards and technical regulations, were abolished both in Croatia and Slovenia. Each of the two young countries had to create an entirely new system of its own for testing furniture quality, and each has since been trying to win recognition both in relation to domestic customer and a foreign one. The sale of furniture is closely connected with appropriate regulation of quality assessment. Quality differentiation helps to identify a product of superior quality more easily, which may facilitate sale and possibly achieve higher prices. This creates competitiveness based on product quality and all for the benefit of the users.

More and more people feel the need to "return to nature".This means that increasingly natural materials are being used, replacing the substitutes which are not environment-friendly and cannot be used for the production of first-class products. If we heed the wishes of people and use appropriate technology, we gain another advantage-healthier soil and and atmosphere and fewer waste waters. When the use of wood as the basic raw material was on the decrease, technological processes which are required for quality wood-working were also going out of use. Simpler wood-working involving the cutting up of boards led to new design and we arrived at furniture, which we call board furniture. Such furniture is suitable for serial production, but does not lend itself well to expressing ones feelings and soul as so naturally comes with wood.
