The management of construction equipment on a construction site is particularly important for increasing productivity on construction sites. High productivity has financial implications for the economics of construction projects and leads to reduced energy consumption. Reducing energy consumption in construction machinery has an impact on reducing greenhouse gase emissions. Monitoring construction equipment and optimizing movement trajectories is a challenge on a construction site and is possible in real ti me with drone photogrammetry technology. Using this technology, we can track the construction machines and the progress of the works in real time, and later, by using AI technology, the management of equipment on construction sites can be improved in real time.

Escalators are an important piece of equipment used for vertical transportation of people in buildings. In today’s context, when the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is a global challenge, the energetic efficiency of escalators in operation becomes a priority. The research aims to identify possibilities to reduce the energy consumption of this category of equipment. In this respect, we have undertaken a series of tests to establish a correlation between passenger traffic and electrical energy consumption. The tests were carried out for an existing escalator and represent the first step in developing solutions to optimize the operation of such equipment. The energetic efficiency of escalators in operation needs to be customized for each model and involves finding parameters that can be modelled to reduce electrical energy consumption.

The innovative energy-efficient vending machine for use in urban environment, called SVIEE-R, have been developed in the global context of reducing energy consumption and using alternative energies. In the design and prototype building phase of the SVIEE-R we analysed energy consumption for several models of the product delivery subsystem. In order to optimise the energy consumption for the product delivery subsystem we also considered the mechatronic delivery system with a spiral for packaged products. Building an energy efficient mechatronic delivery system allows to increase the lifetime of energy independent vending machines and concerning vending machines supplied from the public electricity grid to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The use of modern design software allowed the analyse of the functioning of the mechatronic spiral systems from the design stage. The paper presents the research undertaken for the energy efficiency of the mechatronic spiral system using simulations of the operation validated through functional tests using a stand made by modern manufacturing technologies (laser cutting, 3D printing). Vending machine for cold products are increasingly present in retail. In the global context of reducing energy consumption and the use of alternative sources of energy, we developed the prototype of an energy-independent vending machine for cold products SVIEE-R. The prototype is equipped with an energy-efficient mechatronic product delivery system. Two of the consequences of building an energy-efficient mechatronic system is increasing the lifetime of the energy-independent vending machines and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions in the situation of those powered by the electricity grid. Virtual modelling software allows simulating the operation of the mechatronic systems which is useful when working on their optimization. The paper presents the research undertaken for the design and virtual simulations of the mechatronic system for dose delivery in order to improve energy efficiency and the functional tests performed with the mechatronic system using 3D printing technology in order to approximate energy consumption. In the case of technological construction equipment used for earth excavation, such as the excavator, productivity is dependent on the cycle time. The working cycle time is dependent on the movements of the arm/handle assembly in the digging process. The older generation machines are not equipped with systems for monitoring the movements of the arm-handle assembly and for this situation we have developed the solution presented in this paper. The research presents a solution to analyse the excavator arm trajectory using a drone and a specialized software used in trajectory analysis. The analysis of the movements of the arm-handler assembly allows the choice of optimal digging trajectories. The optimization of the trajectory in the earth excavation process increases the excavator's productivity and contributes to the reduction of fuel consumption with a positive effect on the reduction of greenhouse gases in the excavation process.
