In stacking-based supramolecular polymerization, chiral hydrogen bonding (H-bonding) monomers often prefer to adapt a homochiral monomer sequence. Herein, we investigated the polymerization of a chiral thiophene-fused cyclooctatetraene (COT) as a novel nonplanar-core monomer and found the first example of the formation of an alternating heterochiral supramolecular copolymer. Although single enantiomer (-) or (+)-COT alone did not polymerize, when (-) and (+)-COT were mixed together, supramolecular polymerization took place to give a stereochemically alternating copolymer. By means of the microcrystal electron crystallography of a shorter side-chained COT analogue, we found that the resulting heterochiral supramolecular copolymer adapted an alternating arrangement of H-bonded and polar π-stacked parts. A computational study using density-functional theory (DFT) suggested that such an alternating heterochiral preference occurs because it allows two thiophene amide moieties facing each other to effectively cancel their in-plane dipole moments.

The present study was conducted to clarify the effects of coumestrol administration to maternal mice during pregnancy and lactation on serum Ca and Ca metabolism in their neonatal mice. From 6.5 to 16.5 days post coitus and from 3 to 10 days after parturition, maternal mice were administered at 200 µg/kg body weight/day of coumestrol. Coumestrol administration did not affect weight gains, serum Ca and the expression of vitamin D receptor (VDR) protein in the kidney of neonatal mice, but weight gains of maternal mice were decreased by coumestrol administration. Coumestrol administration increased the messenger RNA (mRNA) expressions of epithelial Ca channels 1 (ECaC1) and VDR in the kidney of neonatal mice, and also increased the mRNA expressions of ECaC2 in the kidney and small intestine of male neonatal mice. The mRNA expressions of ECaC1, ECaC2, calbindin-D(9k) (CaBP-9k) and estrogen receptor (ER)α in the kidney and VDR in the small intestine of male neonatal mice were higher than those of female mice. Thus, coumestrol administration to maternal mice during pregnancy and lactation may affect renal Ca metabolism in neonatal mice, especially male neonatal mice via maternal milk.

In lactating mice, the ALP activity and mRNA expression of IAP were not changed, although coumestrol administration decreased mRNA expression of c-fos in the duodeum and VEGF in the jejunum. Coumestrol did not affect serum Ca and the expression of vitamin D receptor protein in the duodenum and jejunum. Thus, coumestrol administration during pregnancy may decrease the mRNA expression of IAP and the ALP activity in the intestine of the pre-delivery mice through ERα, but coumestrol had little effect on intestinal ALP activity at 10 days after parturition. 生体肝移植を伴った胆道閉鎖症8例, Alagme症候群2例, 劇症肝炎1例, 成人Primary sclerosingcholangitis 1例の計12例に手術の間隔を含め合併症と予後から問題点および今後の可能性につき検討した.小児3例と成人の1例が血液型不適合移植, 1例が適合間移植で, 残りが同型移植であった.手術の間隔は3～6か月で11例は予定手術で, 1例のみが準緊急手術として行われた.主たる合併症は拒絶反応, 血栓症, 感染症で, 重篤な感染性合併症の原因は血栓症に基づく肝不全と考えられた.不適合肝移植の2例の他3例の計5例が死亡した.生存7例は9か月から4年を経過し, 免疫抑制剤はいずれも単独CYA4例, FK3例である.うち2例が低濃度の薬剤量にてなんら異常なく経過している.血液型不適合症例は2例とも0型で, 非抗ドナー型抗体価は術前値より低下なく経過したのに対し, 抗ドナー型抗体価は肝移植後に低下し, 現在1例は4倍, 他の1例は2倍である.

Complexes of the type [Pt(η3-allyl)Me(L)] (1) (allyl=C3H5, 1-MeC3H4, or 2-MeC3H4; L=tertiary phosphine) as well as [Pt(η3-C3H5)Bu(PPh3)] have been synthesized and characterized by NMR (1H, 13C) and mass spectroscopy. By the reaction with bidentate tertiary phosphines (L–L), [Pt(η3-C3H5)Me(PPh3)] (1b) was converted into η1-allyl complexes of the type [Pt(η1-C3H5)Me(L–L)]. With PPh3, cis-[Pt(η1-C3H5)Me(PPh3)2] was isolated. The reaction of 1b with neat 2,4-pentanedione (Hacac) afforded [Pt(acac)Me(PPh3)]. Complexes 1 thermally decompose in the solid state and in diphenylmethane solely giving propylene and methane, but the allyl-alkyl coupling reaction to form 1-butene is promoted by the addition of maleic anhydride. We experimentally confirmed a basic operation of the n-channel junction field-effect transistor (JFET) embedded in the i layer (n- substrate) of a pin diode for X-ray detectors, which was proposed in Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 37 (1998) L115. To electrically isolate the n-channel from the n- substrate, a p+ ring is formed around the JFET and is reverse-biased, instead of a deep p layer under the n-channel (i. e. , the conventional structure). In the proposed structure, only one type of donor is ion-implanted in the n-channel, while in the conventional structure, both donor and acceptor are ion-implanted there. For the first time, the role of the p+ ring in the electrical characteristics of the n-channel JFET is experimentally elucidated.
