Introduction: Effectiveness of COVID-19 control interventions relies significantly on behavioural modifications of its population. Differing adoption rates impacts subsequent COVID-19 control. Hence, positive and sustained behavioural modification is essential for disease control. We describe the adoption rates of behavioural modifications for Singapore’s “circuit-breaker” (CB), the national public health response to the COVID-19 crisis, among the general population in the community. Methods: We conducted an interrupted-time series study using retrospective secondary data. We compared the proportion of Singaporeans who reported adopting specific behaviour modifications before, during and after CB. Behaviours of interest were working from home, performing hand hygiene, using face mask in public, and avoiding crowded areas. We compared change in incidence rates for community COVID-19 cases among the general population across the same time periods. Background: Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of global disability, with most patients not receiving optimal non-surgical treatment resulting in significant morbidity and cost to the healthcare system, The Collaborative Model of Care between Orthopaedics and Allied Healthcare Professionals (CONNACT) Model of Care (MoC) was developed by optimizing evidence-based non-surgical treatments to deliver value-based care for people with knee OA. The primary aim of this study is to determine the clinical effectiveness of the CONNACT MoC compared to usual care. The secondary aims are: a) To determine the cost-effectiveness and b) To develop an evaluation and implementation framework to inform large scale implementation for this MoC. Design: A Type 1 Effectiveness-Implementation Hybrid Trial using an explanatory sequential mixed-method approach. Methodology: The study consists of 3 components. The first component is the pragmatic, parallel-arm, single-blinded randomized control trial. Inclusion criteria are patients with knee OA based on the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) criteria with radiographic severity of greater than Kellgren-Lawrence 1, and Knee Injury and OA Outcome Score (KOOS4) of equal or less than 75. Exclusion criteria include other forms of arthritis, history of previous knee arthroplasty or wheelchair-bound patient. The intervention arm will undergo the CONNACT MoC while the usual care arm will be referred to the physiotherapist where the number and content of sessions are at the patient’s and physiotherapist’s discretion. The CONNACT MoC is a community-based, multidisciplinary 12-week program that uniquely uses an individualized approach based on a triaging criterion to tailor the treatment to each patient in line with the “right care, delivered at the right time, by the right team, in the right place, with the right resources” philosophy coupled with a strong emphasis on patient activation and self-management strategies to promote long term sustainable behavioural change. KOOS4 is the primary outcome measure. Secondary outcomes include KOOS individual subscales, quality of life scoring, functional performance, global, diet and psychological related outcomes. The second component is an economic evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of the CONNACT MoC using a societal perspective. The third component is an implementation and evaluation framework using process evaluation under the RE-AIM framework using a mixed-method approach. Discussion: A rapidly aging global population has resulted in an OA epidemic that is currently being poorly managed on a global scale. CONNACT MoC is a complex intervention that has been developed to meet this growing need. In line with the MRC guidance for developing and evaluating complex interventions, a pilot feasibility study was completed and a comprehensive approach including an RCT, economic evaluation and process evaluation is described in this study protocol. Results from this study will help clinicians, healthcare administrators and policymakers guide the sustainable and effective implementation of the CONNACT MoC for knee OA and serve as a basis for similar multidisciplinary MoC for chronic degenerative musculoskeletal conditions to be developed.Trial Registration: Clinicaltrials.gov Identifier: NCT03809975. Objectivesemergency department interventions for frailty (EDIFY) delivers frailty-centric interventions at the emergency department (ED). We evaluated the effectiveness of a multicomponent frailty intervention (MFI) in improving functional outcomes among older persons.Designa quasi-experimental study.Settinga 30-bed ED observation unit within a 1,700-bed acute tertiary hospital.Participantspatients aged ≥65 years, categorised as Clinical Frailty Scale 4–6, and planned for discharge from the unit.Methodswe compared patients receiving the MFI versus usual-care. Data on demographics, function, frailty, sarcopenia, comorbidities and medications were gathered. Our primary outcome was functional status—Modified Barthel Index (MBI) and Lawton’s iADL. Secondary outcomes include hospitalisation, ED re-attendance, mortality, frailty, sarcopenia, polypharmacy and falls. Follow-up assessments were at 3, 6 and 12 months.Resultswe recruited 140 participants (mean age 79.7 ± 7.6 years; 47% frail and 73.6% completed the study). Baseline characteristics between groups were comparable (each n = 70). For the intervention group, MBI scores were significantly higher at 6 months (mean: 94.5 ± 11.2 versus 88.5 ± 19.5, P = 0.04), whereas Lawton’s iADL scores experienced less decline (change-in-score: 0.0 ± 1.7 versus −1.1 ± 1.8, P = 0.001). Model-based analyses revealed greater odds of maintaining/improving MBI in the intervention group at 6 months [odds ratio (OR) 2.51, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.04–6.03, P = 0.04] and 12 months (OR 2.98, 95% CI 1.18–7.54, P = 0.02). This was similar for Lawton’s iADL at 12 months (OR 4.01, 95% CI 1.70–9.48, P = 0.002). ED re-attendances (rate ratio 0.35, 95% CI 0.13–0.90, P = 0.03) and progression to sarcopenia (OR 0.19, 95% CI 0.04–0.94, P = 0.04) were also lower at 6 months.Conclusionsthe MFI delivered to older persons at the ED can possibly improve functional outcomes and reduce ED re-attendances while attenuating sarcopenia progression.

Chronic low back pain, defined as low back pain lasting more than 3 months, is a globally prevalent health problem with significantly high medical and economic burden on individuals and the society. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of chronic low back pain and examine its association with health outcomes including physical function, mental health, and quality of life among adult population in Singapore. Cross-sectional secondary data analysis was performed using baseline data of the 1941 adults (mean age: 52.6 years, range: 21–97 years) from a representative population health survey conducted in the Central region of Singapore. Those with self-reported chronic low back pain in past six months were identified. The Late-Life Function and Disability Instrument, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, and EQ-5D-5L were used to measure physical function and limitation, mental health, and health-related quality of life, respectively. Generalized Linear Regressions were used to examine the association of chronic low back pain with physical function, limitation, depressive symptoms, and health-related quality of life. There were 8.1% (n = 180) participants reporting having chronic low back pain in past six months, among whom 80.5% sought treatments at either primary care, specialist outpatient, or Traditional Chinese Medicine clinics. Objectives The EDIFY program was developed to deliver early geriatric specialist interventions at the emergency department (ED) to reduce the number of acute admissions by identifying patients for safe discharge or transfer to low-acuity care settings. We evaluated the effectiveness of EDIFY in reducing potentially avoidable acute admissions. Design A quasi-experimental study. Setting ED of a 1700-bed tertiary hospital. Participants ED patients aged ≥85 years. Measurements We compared EDIFY interventions versus standard care. Patients with plans for acute admission were screened and recruited. Data on demographics, premorbid function, frailty status, comorbidities, and acute illness severity were gathered. We examined the primary outcome of “successful acute admission avoidance” among the intervention group, which was defined as no ED attendance within 72 hours of discharge from ED, no transfer to an acute ward from subacute-care units (SCU) within 72-hours, or no transfer to an acute ward from the short-stay unit (SSU). Secondary outcomes were rehospitalization, ED re-attendance, institutionalization, functional decline, mortality, and frailty transitions at 1, 3, and 6 months. Results We recruited 100 participants (mean age 90.0 ± 4.1 years, 66.0% women). There were no differences in baseline characteristics between intervention (n = 43) and nonintervention (n = 57) groups. Thirty-five (81.4%) participants in the intervention group successfully avoided an acute admission (20.9% home, 23.3% SCU, and 44.2% SSU). All participants in the nonintervention group were hospitalized. There were no differences in rehospitalization, ED re-attendance, institutionalization and mortality over the study period. Additionally, we observed a higher rate of progression to a poorer frailty category at all time points among the nonintervention group (1, 3, and 6 months: all P Conclusions and Implications Results from our single-center study suggest that early geriatric specialist interventions at the ED can reduce potentially avoidable acute admissions without escalating the risk of rehospitalization, ED re-attendance, or mortality, and with possible benefit in attenuating frailty progression.

Background Neck pain is prevalent among office workers. This study evaluated the impact of an ergonomic and exercise training (EET) intervention and an ergonomic and health promotion (EHP) intervention on neck pain intensity among the All Workers and a subgroup of Neck Pain cases at baseline. Methods A 12-month cluster-randomized trial was conducted in 14 public and private organisations. Office workers aged ≥18 years working ≥30 h per week (n = 740) received an individualised workstation ergonomic intervention, followed by 1:1 allocation to the EET group (neck-specific exercise training), or the EHP group (health promotion) for 12 weeks. Neck pain intensity (scale: 0–9) was recorded at baseline, 12 weeks, and 12 months. Participants with data at these three time points were included for analysis (n = 367). Intervention group differences were analysed using generalized estimating equation models on an intention-to-treat basis and adjusted for potential confounders. Subgroup analysis was performed on neck cases reporting pain ≥3 at baseline (n = 96). Results The EET group demonstrated significantly greater reductions in neck pain intensity at 12 weeks compared to the EHP group for All Workers (EET: β = − 0.53 points 95% CI: − 0.84– − 0.22 [36%] and EHP: β = − 0.17 points 95% CI: − 0.47–0.13 [10.5%], p-value = 0.02) and the Neck Cases (EET: β = − 2.32 points 95% CI: − 3.09– − 1.56 [53%] and EHP: β = − 1.75 points 95% CI: − 2.35– − 1.16 [36%], p = 0.04). Reductions in pain intensity were not maintained at 12 months with no between-group differences observed in All Workers (EET: β = − 0.18, 95% CI: − 0.53–0.16 and EHP: β = − 0.14 points 95% CI: − 0.49–0.21, p = 0.53) or Neck Cases, although in both groups an overall reduction was found (EET: β = − 1.61 points 95% CI: − 2.36– − 0.89 and EHP: β = − 1.9 points 95% CI: − 2.59– − 1.20, p = 0.26). Conclusion EET was more effective than EHP in reducing neck pain intensity in All Workers and Neck Cases immediately following the intervention period (12 weeks) but not at 12 months, with changes at 12 weeks reaching clinically meaningful thresholds for the Neck Cases. The ideal implant for stable, noncomminuted olecranon fractures is controversial. Tension band wiring (TBW) is associated with lower cost but higher implant removal rates.On the other hand, plate fixation (PF) is purported to be biomechanically superior, with lower failure and implant removal rates, although associated with higher cost. The primary aim of this study is to look at the clinical outcomes for all Mayo 2A olecranon between PF and TBW. The secondary aim is to perform an economic evaluation of PF vs. TBW.This is a retrospective study of all surgically treated Mayo 2A olecranon fractures in a tertiary hospital from 2005-2016. Demographic data, medical history, range of motion, and complications were collected. All inpatient and outpatient costs in a 1-year period postsurgery including the index surgical procedure were collected via the hospital administrative cost database (normalized to 2014).A total of 147 cases were identified (94 TBW, 53 PF). PF was associated with higher mean age (P.01), higher American Society of Anesthesiologists score (P .01), and higher proportion of hypertensives (P = .04). There was no difference in the range of motion achieved at 1 year for both groups. In terms of complications, TBW was associated with more symptomatic hardware (21.6% vs. 13.7%, P = .24) and implant failures (16.5% vs. none, P.01), whereas the plate group had a higher wound complication (5.9% vs. none, P = .02) and infection rate (9.8% vs. 3.1%, P = .09). TBW had a higher implant removal rate of 30.9% compared with 22.7% for PF (P = .36). PF had a higher cost at all time points, from the index surgery ($10,313.64 vs. $5896.36, P.01), 1-year cost excluding index surgery ($5069.61 vs. $3850.46, P = .46), and outpatient cost ($1667.80 vs. $1613.49, P = .27).Based on our study results, we have demonstrated that TBW is the ideal implant for Mayo 2A olecranon fractures from both a clinical and economic standpoint, with comparable clinical results, potentially similar implant removal rates as PF's, and a lower cost over a 1-year period. In choosing the ideal implant, the surgeon must take into account, first, the local TBW and PF removal rate, which can vary significantly because of the patient's profile and beliefs, and second, the PF implant cost.

Background Osteoarthritis is a leading cause of global disability resulting in significant morbidity and cost to the healthcare system. Current guidelines recommend lifestyle changes such exercises and weight loss as first line treatment prior to surgical consideration. Our current model of care is inefficient with suboptimal allied health intervention for effective behaviour changes. A 12-week community based, individualized, multidisciplinary new model of care for knee osteoarthritis was developed in light of current deficiencies. Methods The primary aim of this study was to determine the feasibility of a full randomized controlled trial evaluating this new model of care using pre-defined progression criteria. The secondary aim was to optimize the intervention and study design through a process evaluation. A pilot exploratory, parallel arm, single blinded randomized trial design using a mixed method approach was utilized. Progression criteria for a full trial including key domains of patient recruitment and retention, outcome measure acceptability and improvement, adverse events were developed. The primary outcome measure was the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) at baseline and 12-weeks. Secondary outcomes included quality of life, functional and psychological assessments. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the patients at 12-weeks. Results 20 patients (3 males, 17 females) were randomized (10 intervention, 10 control). Intervention arm patients reported better improvements in their knee function, quality of life, psychological outcome, dietary improvement and weight loss compared to the control arm at 12-weeks. Semi-structured interviews revealed several themes pertaining to feasibility and intervention optimization. 5 out of the 6 progression criteria’s domains were met (recruitment criteria not met). Conclusion This pilot has demonstrated the feasibility of a full randomized control trial investigating the potential effectiveness of the new proposed model of care for knee osteoarthritis using pre-defined progression criteria and process evaluation. Results from the qualitative study were used to modify and improve the intervention content, delivery model and study design for a large effectiveness-implementation hybrid randomized control trial that is currently underway. Background This study uses the RE-AIM framework to provide a process evaluation of a workplace-based cluster randomised trial comparing an ergonomic plus exercise intervention to an ergonomic plus health promotion intervention; and to highlight variations across organisations; and consider the implications of the findings for intervention translation. Method This study applied the RE-AIM (reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, maintenance) methodology to examine the interventions’ implementation and to explore the extent to which differences between participating organisations contributed to the variations in findings. Qualitative and quantitative data collected from individual participants, research team observations and organisations were interrogated to report on the five RE-AIM domains. Results Overall reach was 22.7% but varied across organisations (range 9 to 83%). Participants were generally representative of the recruitment pool though more females (n = 452 or 59%) were recruited than were in the pool (49%). Effectiveness measures (health-related productivity loss and neck pain) varied across all organisations, with no clear pattern emerging to indicate the source of the variation. Organisation-level adoption (66%) and staffing level adoption (91%) were high. The interventions were implemented with minimal protocol variations and high staffing consistency, but organisations varied in their provision of resources (e.g. training space, seniority of liaisons). Mean adherence of participants to the EET intervention was 56% during the intervention period, but varied from 41 to 71% across organisations. At 12 months, 15% of participants reported regular EET adherence. Overall mean (SD) adherence to EHP was 56% (29%) across organisations during the intervention period (range 28 to 77%), with 62% of participants reporting regular adherence at 12 months. No organisations continued the interventions after the follow-up period. Conclusion Although the study protocol was implemented with high consistency and fidelity, variations in four domains (reach, effectiveness, adoption and implementation) arose between the 14 participating organisations. These variations may be the source of mixed effectiveness across organisations. Factors known to increase the success of workplace interventions, such as strong management support, a visible commitment to employee wellbeing and participant engagement in intervention design should be considered and adequately measured for future interventions. ObjectivesTo determine the economic benefit of an integrated home-based palliative care programme for advanced dementia (Programme Dignity), evaluation is required. This study aimed to estimate Programme Dignity’s average monthly cost from a provider’s perspective; and compare healthcare utilisation and costs of programme patients with controls, accounting for enrolment duration.MethodsThis was a retrospective cohort study. Home-dwelling patients with advanced dementia (stage 7 on the functional assessment staging in Alzheimer’s disease) with a history of pneumonia, albumin ResultsThe average monthly programme cost was SGD$1311 (SGD-Pounds exchange rate: 0.481) per patient. Fully enrolled programme patients were less likely to visit the emergency department (incidence rate ratios (IRRs): 1 month=0.56; 3 months=0.19; 6 months=0.10; all pConclusionProgramme Dignity for advanced dementia reduces healthcare utilisation and costs. If scalable, it may benefit more patients wishing to remain at home at the end-of-life, allowing for a potentially sustainable care model to cope with rapid population ageing. It contributes to the evidence base of advanced dementia palliative care and informs healthcare policy making. Future studies should estimate informal caregiving costs for comprehensive economic evaluation.

Worker health-related productivity loss is a significant economic burden to employers. In this thesis, a series of studies investigated health-related productivity loss, associated factors, and the potential benefit of workplace health interventions for office workers. This thesis compares the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of two types of workplace health programs that target health-related productivity loss in office workers. In view of the necessity for employer support required for the implementation of workplace health interventions, the perspective considered in this thesis was that of the employer. This thesis consists of seven chapters of which four are based on a cluster-randomised trial. The second chapter is a systematic review of randomised controlled trials examining onsite workplace health-enhancing physical activity interventions on worker productivity. This review highlighted the evidence gap for a suitable worker health-related productivity measurement, a study design involving a primary productivity outcome that can lead to an appropriately powered trial, and a multi-dimensional workplace health program of adequate duration and attendance. The third chapter confirmed the inter-rater reliability of an observation-based ergonomic assessment that was used in the subsequent three studies. A cross-sectional study was undertaken in Chapter 4 to investigate self-reported health-related productivity loss in office workers and associations with individual and work-related factors using an employer's perspective. A combination of individual factors (presence of recent musculoskeletal pain and levels of psychological stress), and work-related factors (office worker occupational category and job satisfaction levels) were associated with levels of self-reported health-related productivity loss in office workers. Chapter 5 and 6 report the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of two types of workplace health programs targeting the economic burden of health-related productivity loss in a large cohort of office workers, respectively. This was achieved with a 2-arm longitudinal cluster-randomised trial incorporating findings from the first three studies. Chapter 5 showed that a combined ergonomics and neck-specific exercise intervention showed benefits in the primary outcome of productivity, demonstrated with lower monetised health-related productivity loss and sickness presenteeism in a general population of office workers, and lower longer-term sickness absenteeism for office workers with neck pain, when compared to a combined ergonomics and health promotion information intervention. Lastly, it was found in Chapter 6 that the combination intervention with exercise might becost-effective relative to the combination with health promotion information for office workers when using a cost-utility analysis from an employer’s perspective.The evaluations of worker health-related productivity in this thesis encompassing tangible economic outcomes may influence decision-makers in industry and health policy makers when considering the implementation of similar workplace health interventions.

Objectives: Using an employer's perspective, this study aimed to compare the immediate and longer-term impact of workplace ergonomics and neck-specific exercise versus ergonomics and health promotion information on health-related productivity among a general population of office workers and those with neck pain. Methods: A prospective one-year cluster randomized trial was conducted. Participants received an individualized workstation ergonomics intervention, combined with 12 weeks of either workplace neck-specific exercises or health promotion information. Health-related productivity at baseline, post-intervention and 12-months was measured with the Health and Work Performance Questionnaire. Intention-to-treat analysis was performed using multilevel mixed models. Results: We recruited 763 office workers from 14 organizations and allocated them to 100 clusters. For the general population of office workers, monetized productivity loss at 12 months [AU$1464 (standard deviation [SD] 1318) versus AU$1563 (SD=1039); P=0.023]; and presenteeism at 12 months [2.0 (SD 1.2) versus 2.4 (SD 1.4); P=0.007] was lower in the exercise group compared to those in the health promotion information group. For office workers with neck pain, exercise participants had lower sickness absenteeism at 12 months compared to health promotion information participants [0.7 days (SD 1.0) versus 1.4 days (SD 3.1); P-=0.012], despite a short-term increase in sickness absenteeism post-intervention compared to baseline for the exercise group [1.2 days (SD 2.2) versus 0.6 days (SD 0.9); P

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of onsite workplace health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) programmes on worker productivity. The PROSPERO registration number is CRD42014008750. A search for controlled trials or randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that investigated the effects of onsite workplace HEPA programmes on productivity levels of working adults was performed. Risk of bias of included studies was assessed, and the inter-rater reliability of the quality assessment was analysed. Qualitative synthesis of available evidence is presented. Eight studies were included in the review. There is consistent evidence that onsite workplace HEPA programmes do not reduce levels of sick leave. There appears to be inconsistent evidence of the impact of onsite workplace HEPA programmes on worker productivity. A high-quality study of an onsite combination (aerobic, strengthening and flexibility) HEPA regime and a moderate-quality study of a Tai Chi programme improved worker productivity measured with questionnaires in female laundry workers and older female nurses, respectively. Two high-quality studies and four moderate-quality studies did not show benefit. Studies that showed benefit were mainly those designed with productivity measures as primary outcomes, delivered to occupations involved with higher physical loads, and had higher compliance and programme intensity. The small number of studies and the lack of consistency among studies limited further analyses. There is inconsistent evidence that onsite workplace HEPA programmes improve self-reported worker productivity. Future high-quality RCTs of onsite workplace HEPA programmes should be designed around productivity outcomes, target at-risk groups and investigate interventions of sufficient intensity. High attendance with improved recording is needed to achieve significant results in augmenting worker productivity.

Objective: Office workers have a high prevalence of musculoskeletal conditions. This can be a significant economic burden due to health-related productivity loss. Individual and work-related factors related to office worker health-related productivity were investigated. Methods: A survey including the Health and Work Performance Questionnaire, which estimated productivity loss, also recorded individual and work-related factors with potential associations with health-related productivity. To establish the inter-rater reliability of an observation-based ergonomics assessment checklist for computer workers.A 37-item (38-item if a laptop was part of the workstation) comprehensive observational ergonomics assessment checklist comparable to government guidelines and up to date with empirical evidence was developed. Two trained practitioners assessed full-time office workers performing their usual computer-based work and evaluated the suitability of workstations used. Practitioners assessed each participant consecutively. The order of assessors was randomised, and the second assessor was blinded to the findings of the first. Unadjusted kappa coefficients between the raters were obtained for the overall checklist and subsections that were formed from question-items relevant to specific workstation equipment.Twenty-seven office workers were recruited. The inter-rater reliability between two trained practitioners achieved moderate to good reliability for all except one checklist component.This checklist has mostly moderate to good reliability between two trained practitioners. Practitioner Summary: This reliable ergonomics assessment checklist for computer workers was designed using accessible government guidelines and supplemented with up-to-date evidence. Employers in Queensland (Australia) can fulfil legislative requirements by using this reliable checklist to identify and subsequently address potential risk factors for work-related injury to provide a safe working environment.

Objective To document troublesome driving tasks and any changes in driving behavior reported by people with chronic whiplash-associated disorders (WADs). Design Descriptive study; semistructured interview. Setting Tertiary institution. Participants Patients (N=33) with chronic WAD. Interventions Not applicable. Main Outcome Measures Neck Disability Index (NDI), visual analog scale for neck pain at rest and while driving, exposure section of the Driving Habit Questionnaire, self-rating perceived current driving ability, semistructured interview about presenting symptoms, troublesome driving tasks, and perceived changes in driving behavior after a whiplash injury. Results Subjects (24 of 33; 73%) reported a decrease in driving ability, rating an average of 6.7±2.2 on an 11-point scale (0, unable to drive; 10, driving at preinjury level). These subjects scored higher on the NDI (41.8%±18.4%), experienced greater neck pain at rest (4.3±2.1/10) and while driving (5.7±2.1/10), and reported decreased concentration more frequently than those who rated their driving ability at a preinjury level (ie, 10). The most frequently nominated troublesome driving tasks were checking blind spots, prolonged driving, and reversing/reverse parking, and the most frequently cited changes in driving behavior included more use of trunk rotation (75%), altered steering wheel grip (63%), more anxious/nervous while driving (54%), and more cautious driving (50%). Conclusions The chronic whiplash population appears to have unique troublesome driving tasks (eg, prolonged driving, checking blind spots) that are not readily detected in currently available driving ability/difficulty scales, suggesting that a new scale may be required for this population.

To study self-reported driving habits after whiplash injury and to determine any relation among self-reported driving habits, selected sensorimotor impairments, and psychologic features.Repeated-measures, case-controlled.Tertiary institution.Subjects (n=30) with chronic whiplash and 30 asymptomatic controls.Not applicable.The Driving Habits Questionnaire (composite driving tasks score), Neck Disability Index (NDI), 28-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28), Impact of Events Scale-Revised (IES-R), Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia, cervical range of motion, cervical joint position error, and smooth pursuit neck torsion test.Subjects in the whiplash group had equal driving exposure and driving spaces (distances, locations) compared with control subjects but reported significantly more driving difficulty with most driving tasks (P.01). There were no significant correlations between the composite driving tasks score and any of the sensorimotor impairments, but there were significant and moderate correlations between the composite driving task score and both pain and disability (NDI score, .518) and anxiety (GHQ-28 score, .518; IES-R score, .524).Persons with chronic whiplash have greater self-reported driving difficulty than controls, which appears to relate more to reported levels of pain and disability and psychologic stress than laboratory measures of features of cervical sensorimotor control.
