19. Emission Characteristics of Higher-Molecular-Weight Gases During the Oxidation of Bituminous Coals.

Abstract

To explore the application prospects of higher-molecular-weight gases (HMWGs) in forecasting coal spontaneous combustion (CSC), the emission characteristics of HMWGs during the oxidation of seven bituminous coals with different degrees of metamorphism were studied using gas chromatography. By analyzing the gas samples released from the oxidation of experimental samples, a total of 20 HMWGs with hydrocarbons as the main component was detected. The concentration of HMWGs changed regularly during the oxidation of experimental samples. The concentrations of most representative hydrocarbon gases increased significantly with increasing temperature but plateaued or even decreased when the temperature exceeded about 210°C. The relationship between HMWG production and the metamorphic degree indicators was nonlinear. The volatile matter content and vitrinite reflectance of coal cannot be used directly to evaluate HMWG production. The initial appearance temperatures of HMWGs during the oxidation of different coal samples also varied. The accuracy of CSC forecasting technology can be significantly improved if HMWGs are used as complementary index gases to forecast the different development stages of bituminous CSC. Abstract

In this study, carbon fiber-graphite flake/copper composites were prepared by powder metallurgy. The impact of the alloying elements Ti and Zr on the composites' properties was investigated, and the influence of varying Zr contents on the phase structure and thermal conductivity of the composites was also explored. The results indicate that composites containing Zr exhibit better flexural strength and thermal conductivity compared to those containing Ti. When the volume fraction of carbon fiber is 2% and 2 wt% Zr is added to copper matrix, the carbide layer at the composite interface is uniform and has a thickness of 0.36 μm. The thermal conductivity of the composite material is up to 597.5 W/(m∙K). The mechanical properties of the composites are enhanced by the synergistic effect of adding carbon fiber and alloying matrix and the composite shows a remarkable flexural strength of 150.5 MPa, which is 58.3% higher compared to composites without carbon fiber. Furthermore, the strengthening mechanism of carbon fiber on the mechanical properties of the composites was examined. The thermal conductivity of the multiphase composites was effectively predicted using the Acoustic Mismatch Model (AMM) combined with the MF module of Digimat software, and the impact of Ti or Zr elements on the composites' thermal conductivity was analyzed. 29. Study on the Spontaneous Combustion Characteristics and Prevention Technology of Coal Seam in Overlying Close Goaf.

Abstract

The short-distance coal seam group refers to the coal seams which has obvious mining influence on the adjacent coal seam during mining process. In the process of short-distance coal seam mining, there are a large number of cracks around the stope due to the mining stress, resulting in serious air leakage and high risk of spontaneous combustion. To mining the working face under the condition of overlying close goaf in Xutuan Coal Mine in Huaibei Mining area, the distribution of spontaneous combustion dangerous area in goaf was studied systematically with the help of engineering test, laboratory research and numerical simulation. Results show that a "Γ" distribution of high oxygen concentration area was found above the roadway of the goaf due to the effect of air leakage and coal seam space, the high spontaneous combustion risk area is close to the return airway. A three-dimensional distribution of the high spontaneous combustion risk area was formed in the composite goaf after mining in the lower coal seam face, the spontaneous combustion risk of the upper position is higher than that of the lower position. Besides, based on the pyrolysis-room temperature oxidation experiments of coal sample, it is considered that the inert environment and high temperature promote the production of active groups in coal and thus enhanced the oxidation ability of coal, mechanism of spontaneous combustion of residual coal in the overlying goaf was further revealed. Accordingly, the comprehensive fire prevention and fire extinguishing measures of nitrogen injection, leakage plugging and inhibitor injection are put forward. With the method of numerical simulation, it was found that nitrogen injection at the position of 50 m in the goaf can effectively reduce the spontaneous combustion risk in the compound goaf, and the injection of TEMPO inhibitor was put forward based on the secondary oxidation characteristics of residual coal. 32. Experimental Study on Pore-fracture Evolution Law in the Thermal Damage Process of Coal.

Abstract

High temperature causes thermal damage to coal, alters its pore-fracture structure, and then influences its permeability and spontaneous combustion characteristics. In this paper, to study the evolution law of coal pore-fracture in the thermal damage process and the influence mechanism of thermal damage on pore-fracture development, the microfracture evolution characteristics and pore morphology of coal samples treated under different temperatures were qualitatively studied by susing a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Besides, the evolution of coal pore structure as a function of temperatures in the heating process was quantitatively studied based on Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique. In addition, the pore structure of coal samples was quantitatively characterized in combination with the fractal theory, and the variation of fractal dimension of coal sample pore structure with heat treatment temperature was obtained. The results show that after heat treatment, the development of fractures of coal was promoted, and the connectivity between the fractures was effectively enhanced. Moreover, the higher the temperature is, the more favorable it is for the development, expansion, and connectivity of fractures and for the formation of microfracture networks in coal. The high-temperature thermal damage changes the pore structure of coal, increases the pore volume and porosity of coal and enhances the pore connectivity. Moreover, after high-temperature heat treatment, the pore structure of DL coal with low metamorphism changed more significantly than that of XG coal. The porosity of DL coal and XG coal increased with the rising temperature, while the pore fractal dimension DmNMR, DMNMR, and DNMR of the two kinds coal samples show the opposite trend. Furthermore, the variation amplitude of DmNMR is significantly larger than that of DMNMR, and the variation of three fractal dimensions of DL coal is larger than that of XG coal. Abstract

Objective: To assess the association of neural development-related genes LIS1and TSNAX with bipolar disorder in a Chinese Han population., Methods: Three hundred and eight five patients (including 188 males and 197 females) from Guangzhou Brain Hospital with bipolar disorder meeting the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Bipolar Disorder (BDI) (Fourth Edition) criteria and 475 healthy controls from the local community were recruited. Ten single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the LIS1 and TSNAX genes were genotyped by GoldenGate genotyping assay on an Illumina Beadstation 500 machine. Association analyses of SNPs and haplotypes were performed with Plink 1.07 software., Results: Analysis of the total sample has failed to find any association of SNP or haplotype of the two genes with BDI (P> 0.05). When patients were divided into subgroups with or without psychotic symptom, no significant association of the two genes was found with psychotic BDI or non-psychotic BDI (P> 0.05). No significant association was found between any SNP and haplotype of two genes and female BDI or male BDI, nor were significant association found between age of onset and LIS1 and TSNAX gene polymorphisms., Conclusion: Our results indicated that LIS1 and TSNAX genes are not associated with susceptibility to bipolar I disorder in Chinese Han population.
