The purpose of this research is to develop and validate the life-career adaptability scale of modern employees who have to cope with rapid changes in the working environment due to the 4th Industrial Revolution and the Pandemic Era. Research 1, an open-ended questionnaire was conducted to 117 employees who were uniformly sampled by gender, age group, and company size, and the scale was developed with 100 items of 13 factors. Research 2, a preliminary survey was conducted on 321 employees using the scale. The result of exploratory factor analysis(EFA), 79 items of 10 factors were extracted. Research 3, the data of 723 employees were divided into two groups to verify the validity of the compositional concept of the Life-Career Adaptability. In order to examine whether the scale and its sub-factors properly assess the degree of life-career adaptability of employees, Group 1 conducted an EFA, Group 2 conducted a confirmatory factor analysis(CFA). Result of the EFA, 40 items of 7 factors were extracted. Seven factors consist of Industrial Environment Change Awareness, Work Environment Change Awareness, Life-Career Plan, Future Career Exploration, Future Career Preparation, Current Career Adapting and Networking. CFA using structural equation modeling, turned out that it met the modeling fit criteria. These life-career adaptability factors were high rate of positive correlation with the Career Management Behavior, supporting convergence validity, and were significantly related to criteria such as Life Satisfaction, Hope, Adaptive Performance, and Career Commitment, confirming criterion-related validity of the scale. Finally, implications, limitations, and directions for future research discussed.

Salmonella is one of the major causes of food-borne infections. We investigated the serotype distribution and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella isolates collected in Korea between January 2016 and December 2017. In total, 669 Salmonella isolates were collected from clinical specimens at 19 university hospitals. Serotyping was performed according to the Kauffmann-White scheme, and antimicrobial susceptibility was tested using Sensititre EUVSEC plates or disk diffusion. Among the strains, C (39.8%) and B (36.6%) were the most prevalent serogroups. In total, 51 serotypes were identified, and common serotypes were S. enterica serovar I 4,[5],12:i:- (16.7%), S. Enteritidis (16.1%), S. Bareilly (14.6%), S. Typhimurium (9.9%), and S. Infantis (6.9%). The resistance rates to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole were 32.6%, 12.1%, and 8.4%, respectively. The resistance rates to cefotaxime and ciprofloxacin were 8.1% and 3.0%, respectively, while 5.4% were multidrug-resistant. S. enterica serovar I 4,[5],12:i:- and S. Enteritidis were highly prevalent, and there was an increase in rare serotypes. Multidrug resistance and ciprofloxacin resistance were highly prevalent. Periodic investigations of Salmonella serotypes and antimicrobial resistance are needed.

The purpose of our study was to investigate the relationship between business strategy, organizational culture, and market satisfaction. This study focused on Korean companies entering Africa and companies wishing to enter Africa and analyzed the satisfaction of companies with the African market focusing on internal environmental conditions. In terms of data, we collected 183 usable samples from companies. In order to analyze the data, we used structural equation modeling using AMOS 25.0. Based on the results, first, we can see that there is a positive relationship between business strategy and organizational culture. Moreover, there is also a positive relationship between business strategy and market satisfaction. Lastly, we found a positive relationship between organizational culture and market satisfaction. These study results give the following implications in establishing investment strategies for Korean companies entering Africa or willing to enter, which are in the midst of macroscopic environmental changes.

PurposePrimary care providers are positioned to identify adolescents at risk for depression and prevent major depressive disorder. To identify subthreshold depression, we examined the language adolescents use to describe their symptoms.MethodsAdolescents ages 13–18 with elevated levels on the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CES-D) scale and/or a history of depression who were part of a large randomized clinical trial to prevent depressive disorder were included. We used content analysis to analyze transcripts of semi-structured interviews.ResultsSaturation was reached at 37 interviews. Adolescents self-identified as African American (N = 15), Hispanic (N = 10), and White (N = 21). Three domains were revealed; external sources of stress, adolescent expressions of sadness, and seeking help and care. Within these domains, 12 distinct themes emerged contextualizing these domains. No variations in the expression of the themes identified for subthreshold depression were found between the three ethno-cultural groups.Implications for PracticeOur study identifies, in adolescents' own words, how adolescents with subthreshold depression express feelings and cope with symptoms, and may guide primary care providers to recognize subthreshold depression early. These findings are a step toward filling the gap in the empirical literature needed to improve identification of adolescents at risk for depression in nonspecialist settings.

(1-3)-β-D-glucan (BDG) is a fast and simple assay to diagnose invasive fungal infection. In this study, we evaluated the performance of the Goldstream BDG assay (Beijing Gold Mountainriver Tech Development) performed on the automated analyzer, IGL-200 (Genobio Pharmaceutical).The precision and linearity of the Goldstream BDG assay were evaluated according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute procedures. BDG results performed on the IGL-200 were compared to a manual photometer, MB-80A (Genobio Pharmaceutical). The manufacturer-provided reference interval was verified.Within-laboratory imprecision (% Coefficient of Variation) was 9.4%. The best polynomial fit was third-order within the manufacturer's claimed linear range (32.0 - 830.0 pg/mL). The BDG assay performed on IGL-200 and MB-80A showed a total agreement of 97.6%. All healthy subjects were within range of the manufacture provided reference interval.The analytical performance of the Goldstream BDG assay was clinically acceptable.

Objectives The BD MAX Check-Points CPO Assay (BD MAX CPO Assay; BD, The Netherlands) is a diagnostic test designed for the rapid detection and differentiation of the bla KPC, bla NDM, bla VIM/bla IMP-1, and bla OXA-48 genes. We verified the performance of the BD MAX CPO Assay to implement it in the clinical laboratory. Methods A total of 113 bacterial isolates collected from various clinical specimens harboring carbapenemase genes as confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequencing were evaluated. The results of the BD MAX CPO Assay were compared to previously confirmed results. Results All results of the BD MAX CPO Assay were concordant with previous results; 61 Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC), 40 New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM), three oxacillinase-48 (OXA-48)-like, two imipenem (IMP), and four multiple carbapenemase genes (one KPC/NDM, three NDM/OXA) were detected by the BD MAX CPO Assay. Three non-carbapenemase-producing carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae isolates were negative. Conclusions The BD MAX CPO Assay can be used to identify carbapenemase gene in bacterial isolates cultured from clinical specimens in the clinical laboratory.

Background Several factors contribute to differences in Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype distribution. We investigated the serotype distribution and antimicrobial resistance of S. pneumoniae isolated between 2014 and 2016 in Korea. Methods We collected a total of 1,855 S. pneumoniae isolates from 44 hospitals between May 2014 and May 2016, and analyzed the serotypes by sequential multiplex PCR. We investigated the distribution of each serotype by patient age, source of the clinical specimen, and antimicrobial resistance pattern. Results The most common serotypes were 11A (10.1%), followed by 19A (8.8%), 3 (8.5%), 34 (8.1%), 23A (7.3%), and 35B (6.2%). The major invasive serotypes were 3 (12.6%), 19A (7.8%), 34 (7.8%), 10A (6.8%), and 11A (6.8%). Serotypes 10A, 15B, 19A, and 12F were more common in patients ≤5 years old, while serotype 3 was more common in patients ≥65 years old compared with the other age groups. The coverage rates of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV)7, PCV10, PCV13, and pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine 23 were 11.8%, 12.12%, 33.3%, and 53.6%, respectively. Of the 1,855 isolates, 857 (46.2%) were multi-drug resistant (MDR), with serotypes 11A and 19A predominant among the MDR strains. The resistance rates against penicillin, cefotaxime, and levofloxacin were 22.8%, 12.5%, and 9.4%, respectively. Conclusions There were significant changes in the major S. pneumoniae serotypes in the community. Non-PCV13 serotypes increased in patients ≤5 years old following the introduction of national immunization programs with the 10- and 13-polyvalent vaccines.

Background Deficiency in DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and accumulation of DNA damage increases mutation rates resulting in genomic instability and eventually increases the risk of cancer. The aim of our study was to investigate expressions of DNA repair genes as new prognostic biomarkers in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods We utilized The Cancer Genome Atlas AML project (TCGA-LAML cohort, 15 acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and 155 non-APL AML) for the expression data of DNA repair genes. For validation, clinical samples (Ewha study group, 9 APL and 72 non-APL AML patients) were analyzed for the expression of 22 DNA repair genes using a custom RT2 Profiler PCR Array. Results APL patients presented significantly lower expression of DNA repair genes than non-APL AML patients in both study groups. Among non-APL AML patients, high expression levels of PARP1, XRCC1, and RAD51 were associated with poor overall survival (OS) probability in both study groups. Furthermore, Cox regression analysis showed that increased expression levels of PARP1, XRCC1, RAD51, BRCA1 and MRE11A could be independent risk factors for OS in the Ewha study group. Among non-APL patients of the Ewha study group, the OS probability of DDR-overexpressed group with at least one gene or more showing Z score greater than 1.5 was poorer than that of DDR non-overexpressed group. Conclusion In the current study, the DNA repair gene expression profile of APL patients was different from that of non-APL AML patients. Overexpression of DNA repair genes could be a poor prognostic biomarker in non-APL AML.

The spread of delta variants (B.1.671.2) of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a severe global threat. Multiplex real-time PCR is a common method for confirming SARS-CoV-2 infection, however, additional tests, such as whole genomic sequencing, are required to reveal the presence or type of viral mutation. Moreover, applying whole genomic sequencing to all SARS-CoV-2 positive samples is challenging due to time and cost constraints. Here, we report that the double or low amplification curve observed during RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) gene/S gene amplification in the Allplex SARS-CoV-2 Assay is related to delta/alpha variants. We analyzed the RdRp/S gene amplification curve using 94 samples confirmed as SARS-CoV-2 infection by the Allplex SARS-CoV-2 Assay from January to August, 2021. These positive samples identified variant types using the Novaplex SARS-CoV-2 Variants I and IV Assays. Overall, 17 samples showing a double curve and 11 samples showing a low amplification pattern were associated with alpha-/delta-type strains with variants in the P681 region. The double or low curve shown in the RdRp gene amplification curve had 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity for diagnosing delta/alpha variants. During the SARS-CoV-2 virus diagnostic RT-PCR test using the Allplex SARS-CoV-2 Assay, we could consider the presence of delta/alpha variants in the samples with double or low amplification curve of the RdRp/S gene channel. This PCR amplification curve abnormality enables rapid and cost-effective variant type prediction during SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic testing in clinical laboratories.

The developmental period of adolescence can pose a risk for the onset of depressive disorders, but is also a time when potentially modifiable factors and behaviors related to depressive episode onset can develop. An online health intervention can provide an opportunity to reach at-risk adolescents in between primary care visits and could impact these modifiable factors and behaviors to support healthy development. We explore the Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic, and Interpersonal Therapy (CATCH-IT), a self-directed online cognitive behavioral therapy prevention intervention, and its impact on modifiable factors and behaviors related to: (1) program completion, (2) normative adolescent development, (3) coping, (4) family relations, (5) general health behaviors, and (6) externalizing behaviors, in a primary care sample of adolescents at intermediate to high risk of developing depression. Adolescents were enrolled into either CATCH-IT or Health Education (HE) control group and followed for 24 months. CATCH-IT improved some factors related to program completion (e.g., motivation, recommendation to peers for depression prevention, and physician positive relationship), coping (e.g., perceived behavior change), and family relations (e.g., parental psychological control, sibling relative status) as compared to HE. HE improved normative adolescent development (e.g., health and loss life events) as compared to CATCH-IT. CATCH-IT utilized in primary care may benefit some at-risk adolescents in selective factors and behaviors.

Scalding water is the most common cause of burn injury in both elderly and young populations. It is one of the major clinical challenges because of the high mortality and sequelae in low- and middle-income countries. Burns frequently induce intense spontaneous pain and persistent allodynia as well as life-threatening problem. More importantly, excessive pain is often accompanied by depression, which may significantly decrease the quality of life. This article shows how to develop an animal model for the study of burn-induced pain and depression-like behavior. After anesthesia, burn injury was induced by dipping one hind paw of the mouse into hot water (65 °C ± 0.5 °C) for 3 s. The von Frey test and automated gait analysis were performed every 2 days after burn injury. In addition, depression-like behavior was examined using the forced swimming test, and the rota-rod test was performed to differentiate the abnormal motor function after burn injury. The main purpose of this study is to describe the development of an animal model for the study of burn injury-induced pain and depression-like behavior in mice.

We aimed to identify the presence of the measles IgG antibody (mIgG-Ab) in healthcare personnel and finding out who needs the measles vaccination. The history of measles vaccination was obtained from the national vaccine registry. A baseline mIgG-Ab test was performed, and the measles vaccine was administered to participants who tested negative or equivocal for mIgG-Abs. During the study, 2885 (87.3%) of the 3303 employees were tested for measles serostatus. The baseline seropositivity rate for mIgG-Abs was 91.9%. Among the 234 seronegative cases, 82.9% were born after 1985. The seroprevalence rate was lower in those who received the measles–mumps–rubella (MMR) vaccine &gt, 10 years before the testing time, especially if they were born after 1985 and if there was only one previous record of vaccination. Among the 234 seronegative cases, MMR vaccination was administered in 174 cases, of which serostatus was evaluated in 146 cases. After the first dose, positive seroconversion was achieved in 126 participants (86.3%). After a second dose, 15 achieved (75.0%) positive seroconversion. In healthcare personnel born after the period when measles incidence significantly decreased, it may be necessary to reassess their immune status for measles if more than 10 years have elapsed since the last vaccination.

Background: Salmonella is an important pathogen that causes gastroenteritis and sepsis in humans. Recently, changes in serotype prevalence and an increase in antimicrobial resistance have been reported. This study investigated the distribution of Salmonella serotypes and determined the antimicrobial susceptibility of various strains. Methods: We collected 113 Salmonella isolates other than Salmonella serotype Typhi from 18 university hospitals in 2015. The serotypes were identified by Salmonella antisera O and H according to the Kauffman White scheme. Antimicrobial susceptibility tests for 12 antibiotics were performed using the disk diffusion method or E-test. Results: We identified 22 serotypes. Serotype group B (44.2%) was the most common, followed by groups C (34.5%) and D (21.2%). Salmonella I 4,[5],12:i:- (23.0%), S. Enteritidis (16.8%), and S. Typhimurium (12.4%) were the most common species. Resistance rates for ampicillin, chloramphenicol, ceftriaxone, and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole were 46.9%, 18.5%, 8.8%, and 5.3%, respectively. The intermediate resistance rate to ciprofloxacin was 29.2%. Six isolates were extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producers, including 5 blaCTX-M-15 and 1 blaCTX-M-55. Conclusion: There have been changes in the serotype prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella in Korea, with a high prevalence of CTX-M 15-positive strains. Continuous monitoring of Salmonella serotypes and antimicrobial resistance is warranted. (Ann Clin Microbiol 2019;22:55-60)

Performances of the colistin antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) systems of Acinetobacter baumannii vary depending on the manufacturer, and data on colistin-resistant A. baumannii are limited. We evaluated the VITEK2 and Sensititre systems to determine colistin resistance and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for A. baumannii isolated from a clinical microbiology laboratory. A total of 213 clinical A. baumannii isolates were tested, including 81 colistin-resistant A. baumannii. ASTs were performed using the VITEK2 and Sensititre systems according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Reference MICs for colistin were determined using the manual broth microdilution method (BMD). The results of the two AST methods were compared with the BMD results. VITEK2 and Sensititre systems showed category agreements of 95.3% and 99.1%, respectively. VITEK2 had a relatively high very major error (VME) rate (9.9%). Sensititre reported higher MICs than the reference method for the susceptible isolates and showed low essential agreement. In conclusion, the automated systems investigated in this study showed good category agreements for colistin AST of A. baumannii. However, VITEK2 had a high VME rate, and Sensititre had differences in MIC results. Colistin AST remains a challenging task in the clinical laboratory.

Approximately 20% of people will experience a depressive episode by adulthood, making adolescence an important developmental target for prevention. CATCH-IT (Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive-behavioral, Humanistic, and Interpersonal Training), an online depression prevention intervention, has demonstrated efficacy in preventing depressive episodes among adolescents reporting elevated symptoms. Our study examines the effects of CATCH-IT compared to online health education (HE) on internalizing symptoms in adolescents at risk for depression. Participants, ages 13&ndash, 18, were recruited across eight US health systems and were randomly assigned to CATCH-IT or HE. Assessments were completed at baseline, 2, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months. There were no significant differences between groups in change in depressive symptoms (b = &minus, 0.31 for CATCH-IT, b = &minus, 0.27 for HE, p = 0.80) or anxiety (b = &minus, 0.13 for CATCH-IT, b = &minus, 0.11 for HE, p = 0.79). Improvement in depressive symptoms was statistically significant (p &lt, 0.05) for both groups (p = 0.004 for CATCH-IT, p = 0.009 for HE), improvement in anxiety was significant for CATCH-IT (p = 0.04) but not HE (p = 0.07). Parental depression and positive relationships with primary care physicians (PRPC) moderated the anxiety findings, and adolescents&rsquo, externalizing symptoms and PRPC moderated the depression findings. This study demonstrates the long-term positive effects of both online programs on depressive symptoms and suggests that CATCH-IT demonstrates cross-over effects for anxiety as well.

Background Adolescent depression carries a high burden of disease worldwide, but access to care for this population is limited. Prevention is one solution to curtail the negative consequences of adolescent depression. Internet interventions to prevent adolescent depression can overcome barriers to access, but few studies examine long-term outcomes. Objective This study compares CATCH-IT (Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive Behavioral Humanistic and Interpersonal Training), an internet-based intervention, to a general health education active control for depression onset at 12 and 24 months in adolescents presenting to primary care settings. Methods A 2-site randomized trial, blinded to the principal investigators and assessors, was conducted comparing Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive Behavioral Humanistic and Interpersonal Training to health education to prevent depressive episodes in 369 adolescents (193 youths were randomly assigned to Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive Behavioral Humanistic and Interpersonal Training and 176 to health education) with subthreshold depressive symptoms or prior depressive episodes. Participants were recruited from primary care settings in the United States. The primary outcome was the occurrence of a depressive episode, determined by the Depression Symptom Rating. The secondary outcome was functioning, measured by the Global Assessment Scale. Results In intention-to-treat analyses, the adjusted hazard ratio favoring Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive Behavioral Humanistic and Interpersonal Training for first depressive episode was not statistically significant at 12 months (hazard ratio 0.77, 95% CI 0.42-1.40, P=.39) and 24 months (hazard ratio 0.87, 95% CI 0.52-1.47, P=.61). Competent Adulthood Transition with Cognitive Behavioral Humanistic and Interpersonal Training provided preventive benefit for first depressive episode for those with mild hopelessness or at least moderate paternal monitoring at baseline. Global Assessment Scale scores improved comparably in both groups (intention-to-treat). Conclusions A technology-based intervention for adolescent depression prevention implemented in primary care did not have additional benefit at 12 or 24 months. Further research is necessary to determine whether internet interventions have long-term benefit. Trial Registration ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01893749; http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01893749.

The methods and results obtained using commercialized automation systems used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing are not entirely consistent. Therefore, we evaluated different antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods to determine vancomycin susceptibility and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for Staphylococcus aureus with reduced vancomycin susceptibility (SA-RVS). A total of 128 clinical isolates of S. aureus were tested, including 99 isolates showing an MIC of ≥2 µg/mL using the VITEK2 system (VITEK2). Antimicrobial susceptibility tests were performed using the Sensititre system (Sensititre), Phoenix M50 system (Phoenix), and MicroScan WalkAway 96 Plus system (MicroScan). Vancomycin MICs were determined using the broth microdilution method (BMD) and Etest. Essential agreement and category agreement for each method were compared with BMD results as the reference method. The BMD and Etest showed complete essential agreement (100%). VITEK2, Sensititre, and Phoenix showed high essential agreement (>99%), while MicroScan showed the lowest essential agreement (92.2%). The MIC MICs determined via Etest, VITEK2, and MicroScan tended to be higher than that determined via BMD. When comparing BMD with Etest, the category agreement was 93.8% and minor errors were observed for eight isolates. VITEK2, Sensititre, and Phoenix showed category agreements of 96.1%, 96.1%, and 99.2%, respectively, while MicroScan showed the lowest category agreement of 85.2%. The determination of vancomycin susceptibility and MIC for S. aureus varied among the methods. Caution should be taken when interpreting RVS and intermediate results for S. aureus. For confirmation of SA-RVS results, it would be appropriate to test with BMD or a more reliable testing method.

Background This study aimed to determine GATA1 expression levels to better characterize subgroups in BCR/ABL1-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Methods This study enrolled 49 patients diagnosed as having BCR/ABL1-negative MPN on the basis of the 2016 World Health Organization classification : nine polycythemia vera (PV), 17 essential thrombocythemia (ET), 12 prefibrotic primary myelofibrosis (prePMF), and 11 overt primary myelofibrosis (PMF). Relevant clinical and laboratory data were retrieved from the medical records. The molecular analysis of CALR and MPL mutations and quantification of JAK2 V617F allele burden were performed. GATA1 expression was assessed by an immunohistochemical assay on bone marrow biopsy. GATA1 expression was analyzed serially in 18 patients. Results GATA1 expression decreased significantly in PMF compared with that in other subtypes, while no statistical difference was identified between ET and prePMF. GATA1 expression did not differ according to the mutation profiles or the allele burden of JAK2 V617F, but it decreased significantly in patients with overt fibrosis or leukemic transformation. Conclusions Our results suggest that GATA1 expression is significantly low in PMF and decreases with progressive fibrosis and possibly with leukemic transformation, although our attempt to accurately distinguish between subgroups using GATA1 immunohistochemical approach did not achieve statistical significance. A large patient cohort with long term follow-up is required to evaluate the prognostic value of GATA1 expression.

The study was designed to investigate the effects of employees’ work meaning on organizational commitment and the moderating effect of transformational leadership on the relationship between work meaning and organizational commitment. Data were collected from 1,000 employees via online survey. Results of hierarchical regression analyses showed that work meaning explained an additional 26.1% of variance in organizational commitment with controlling demographic variables. Also among three factors of work meaning, self-actualization was the most important factor in explaining organizational commitment, and was followed by making a living and social relationships in order. Transformational leadership was found to play a moderating role on the relationship between self-actualization work meaning and organizational commitment. The higher transformational leadership of leaders was, the stronger relationship between self-actualization and organizational commitment was. This study showed that organizational commitment is influenced by work meaning and leadership style, and interactions of the two variables. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for the future research were discussed.

Aim To identify the relationships between physical activity, quality of life and successful ageing among community-dwelling older adults in South Korea. Background With increasing numbers of financially stable and active older adults, it has become imperative to understand successful ageing to promote well-being in this population. Methods Questionnaire data were collected from senior welfare centres from August to November 2013. Participants were adults aged 65 years or older living in urban areas. Participants were asked to complete self-report questionnaires assessing physical activity, quality of life and successful ageing. Data from 212 participants were analysed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, ANOVAs with Scheffe tests and ordinary least square and quantile regression models using STATA 12.0. Findings In the ordinary least square model, the association between physical activity and successful ageing was not statistically significant, whereas quantile regression revealed significant associations within the 75th and 90th percentiles of successful ageing scores. Quality of life was significantly associated with successful ageing in the ordinary least square model and with the median and 75th percentiles of successful ageing in quantile regressions. Conclusion Results suggested that physical activity and quality of life were both in part significantly associated with successful ageing among Korean older adults. Implications for nursing and health policies Physical activity and quality of life play an important role in enhancing successful ageing. The development of an effective exercise programme advertised towards community-dwelling older adults may be essential for maintaining their successful ageing.

This study was designed to examine the effects of strengths coaching program on strengths self efficacy, positive affect, self efficacy, work engagement, and organizational commitment based on Korean employees. Participants were 43 Korean employees, 21 for the experiment group and 22 for the control group. Data were collected across three times(pre, post, follow-up). To measure overall effects, strengths self efficacy, positive affect, self efficacy, work engagement and organizational commitment were measured. Results showed that there were significant interaction effects between time interval and groups for all the dependent variables, confirming the effects of the coaching program. Also, there were non significant effects of time interval(post and follow-up) for all the dependent variables, confirming the duration of the program effect across time. Finally, implications and limitations of the study were discussed.

Background Several factors contribute to differences in Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype distribution. We investigated the serotype distribution and antimicrobial resistance of S. pneumoniae isolated between 2014 and 2016 in Korea. Methods We collected a total of 1,855 S. pneumoniae isolates from 44 hospitals between May 2014 and May 2016, and analyzed the serotypes by sequential multiplex PCR. We investigated the distribution of each serotype by patient age, source of the clinical specimen, and antimicrobial resistance pattern. Results The most common serotypes were 11A (10.1%), followed by 19A (8.8%), 3 (8.5%), 34 (8.1%), 23A (7.3%), and 35B (6.2%). The major invasive serotypes were 3 (12.6%), 19A (7.8%), 34 (7.8%), 10A (6.8%), and 11A (6.8%). Serotypes 10A, 15B, 19A, and 12F were more common in patients ≤5 years old, while serotype 3 was more common in patients ≥65 years old compared with the other age groups. The coverage rates of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV)7, PCV10, PCV13, and pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine 23 were 11.8%, 12.12%, 33.3%, and 53.6%, respectively. Of the 1,855 isolates, 857 (46.2%) were multi-drug resistant (MDR), with serotypes 11A and 19A predominant among the MDR strains. The resistance rates against penicillin, cefotaxime, and levofloxacin were 22.8%, 12.5%, and 9.4%, respectively. Conclusions There were significant changes in the major S. pneumoniae serotypes in the community. Non-PCV13 serotypes increased in patients ≤5 years old following the introduction of national immunization programs with the 10- and 13-polyvalent vaccines.

The aim of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanisms of ertapenem resistance among Enterobacteriaceae isolates in a clinical microbiology laboratory at a tertiary university hospital. A total of 40 clinical isolates including 20 resistant and 20 intermediate isolates were collected from August 2012 to July 2013. Ertapenem susceptibility was confirmed by the broth microdilution method. PCR and sequencing analysis of carbapenemase, AmpC β-lactamase, and extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) genes were performed. Outer membrane proteins (OMPs) were examined by urea-sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Molecular epidemiology studies were performed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). AmpC β-lactamases and ESBLs were found in 32 (80.0%) and 20 (50.0%) of the 40 isolates with ertapenem non-susceptibility, respectively. Distributions of β-lactamase genes differed among the species. One Citrobacter freundii isolate among the 40 isolates with ertapenem non-susceptibility carrying the blaIMP-1 associated class 1 integron was detected. SDS-PAGE of OMPs showed altered or greatly diminished expression of porins in all isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae (n=5) and Enterobacter cloacae (n=11) with ertapenem resistance. Porin alterations were less common among the isolates with intermediate susceptibility (4/19). Integration of the results of molecular analysis of β-lactamases and OMP analysis revealed that most of the isolates with ertapenem resistance exhibited β-lactamase activity and porin alteration. PFGE revealed that most isolates were epidemiologically unrelated. Ertapenem resistance in clinical Enterobacteriaceae isolates was associated with β-lactamase activity and porin alteration. Even though carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae are still rare, continuous monitoring and infection control for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae are necessary.
