The current study investigates the relationship between personality traits according to the big five personality factors model, academic self-efficacy and academic adaptation among Hashemite University students in light of gender and specialization. The purposive sample consisted of 546 under graduated students, 258 males and 306 females. Three scales are used: the Five Factor Model (FFM), for academic self-efficacy and for academic adaption. The results show statistically significant differences in the average of participants' degrees attributed to efficacy and academic adaption in favor of females and scientific specializations. They also show that agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience, extroversion and neuroticism are most common among university students, with a statistically significant positive correlation between extroversion, openness to experience, academic self-efficacy and academic adaption and a negative correlation between neuroticism, conscientiousness, academic self-efficacy and academic adaption. No correlation was found between agreeableness and these two variables.

The present study aimed to identify the level of owning a field training students majoring in psychological counseling at the Hashemite University of professional and family counseling skills in light of achievement and gender variables. The subjects of the study comprised of (100) subjects of field training students in the second semester of the academic year 2014-2015. A questionnaire was used in this study to identify the professional counseling skills and another questionnaire for family counseling skills. Results of the study have shown that field training students majoring in psychological counseling at the Hashemite University own professional and family counseling skills moderately. The results also indicated that the level of students' possession of the professional and family counseling skills rises as GPA rises and that females are more equipped to those skills, compared with males.

This study aimed at identifying the level of depression and sense of insecurity among a sample of female refugee adolescents, and the impact of an indicative program for reducing cognitive distortions in reducing depression and their sense of insecurity. The study sample consisted of 220 female refugee adolescents, 7th to 1st secondary stage, at the governmental schools in the Zarqa educational directorate, who came to Jordan as a result of war conditions in their home land. The experimental sample contained 20 female refugees, the ones who got the highest scores regarding the depression and sense of insecurity scale, and they were set randomly into 2 groups, experimental and control, with 10 females each. The study used the depression scale, and the sense of insecurity scale. It also used an indicative program consisting of 12 sessions, each one lasts for 45 minutes, with a rate of 2 meetings a week. The results indicated that the female refugee adolescents suffer from a medium-level depression, with an average of (73.97%), and a sense of insecurity (69.46%). Findings showed that there was a statistically significant impact at the level (a = 0.05) between the control and experimental groups for depression and sense of insecurity among the female refugee adolescents, ascribed to the indicative program.

University students in early adulthood indeed encounter diverse developmental demands, particularly in the realm of relationships and social development. This stage often involves considerations related to establishing families and entering into marriage or long-term partnerships. This study aims to assess the efficacy of a premarital counseling program grounded in the Adlerian approach in enhancing intimacy and social interest among a sample of single university students. The sample comprised 718 single young individuals from a public university in Jordan. Among them, 38 students displaying low social interest and experiencing fear of intimacy voluntarily participated. They were divided into two groups: an experimental group of 19 participants and a control group of 19 participants. The study utilized two measurement scales-one for fear of intimacy and another for social interest. The group counseling program, consisting of 11 sessions, was administered. The findings revealed significant differences between the experimental and control groups in pre- and post-measurements, indicating the positive impact of the group counseling program on the experimental group. Additionally, follow-up assessments indicated that the beneficial effects of the group counseling program were sustained over time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study aimed to identify the rate of psychological distress and impact of event during COVID -19 Pandemic Among a Sample of University Students in Jordan, In the second 2020. The study relied on the descriptive approach, the online self-administered questionnaire incorporated the COVID-19 Peritraumatic Distress Index (CPDI), for assessing psychological distress, and both the Event Impact Scale-Revised (IES-R), and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress (DASS), for evaluating the psychological impact of the pandemic event, in addition to the demographic data (gender, age, marital and work), it was verifying its validity and reliability. The study sample consisted of (625) students at the Universities of Jordan. The results showed that the Peritraumatic Distress (CPDI) of the students came, overall moderate-severe-to-highly severe. And, the Overall moderate-severe-tohighly severe impact of the event (IES-R); and overall moderate-severe-to-highly severe impact (DASS). In addition, students who reported high level of psychological distress (CPDI), impact of the event (IES-R) and (DASS) were female, younger age groups (18-24) years, single, and not working. The results showed that the age of 18-24 Years, was the best predictor of Peritraumatic Distress CPDI and DASS, respectively. The results also showed that Peritraumatic Distress (CPDI), and psychological impact of the pandemic event (IES-R), and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress (DASS), were significantly positively related to the self-stressors of "having relatives, neighbours, or friends exposed to quarantine; feeling anger due to the obligation of stay-home; having a chronic physical illness/health difficulty that warrant regular medication, and having mental health/Psychological Disorders". The study recommended indicate that universities and relevant bodies should implement various measures to prevent and control the psychological distress and its effects among university students during the epidemic.
