This research consists in diagnosing the hygrothermal imbalance problem inside tourism buildings located at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. In particular, we study the case of Ben M’Hidi tourism development area in Skikda coastline in Algeria. The southern room of "Royal Tulip" hotel was chosen as object of this study in order to investigate its internal hygrothermal behavior. Our study uses the problem-based approach for generating biomimetic architectural concepts that help to develop a meteorosensitive room’s envelope depending on hygrothermic local conditions. Our proposed biomimetic design was inspired by the hygro-adaptive mechanism of the so-called endemic plant "Silene Amphorina". The focus of this paper is to compare the hygrothermal efficiency of the biomimetic envelope versus the real room’s envelope. For this purpose, hygrothermal simulations were performed using the WUFI Plus® software. Our results show that the biomimetic hygrothermal behavior is more adapted than the real one. It has regulated the ambient temperature and it has reduced the internal humidity rate by around 20% in summer, 23% in mid-season and 35% in winter, which will enhance the internal hygrothermal comfort and ensuring the sustainability of the tourism building. In future works, we will be able to propose meteorosensitive envelope responses based on these results.

Objectives: In this work, we aim to have a better understanding of the impact of the architectural ambiance on patient well-being, by exploring patient’s perception of physical ambiantal factors in their rooms. Background: Perception of ambiantal factors is beginning to be relatively documented in space psychology, including health. There is no research in this field in Algeria; therefore, we would like to fill this gap and draw attention to the importance of the ambiantal physical factors in our hospitals. Methods: We conducted a practical study via a 19-item questionnaire at the neurology hospitalization department of two hospitals. This is complemented by in situ observations and reactivated observations. Descriptive, principal component analysis and statistical tests were applied on the responses. Results: Thirteen ambiantal physical items studied were all classified relatively medium with mean scores ranging between −0.55 < mean < 1.34, with SD 0.765, on a scale of −2 to 2. Patients therefore consider the room ambiance medium. Patients’ satisfaction and well-being results meet with findings about ambiantal physical factors. Neurological diseases affect patient cognition, which increase the importance of space-sensitive perception. The bad general condition of the building is negatively pointed in all testimonies of the questioned, especially spatial organization with multiple occupation room. Conclusion: The results indicate that reflection should be oriented on the design of single or double rooms, taking into account the emotional (sensitive) state of the patient, by integrating ambiantal physical factors (natural lighting variable, sound variable, thermal variable, olfactory variable), to contribute significantly to their well-being.

Tourism has been one of the fastest growing industries in recent decades. Undoubtedly, it has beneficial economic impacts on the visited regions, bur this growth undeniably increases the risk of harmful effects on ecosystems.

Les performances climatiques des formes urbaines dans les regions arides chaudes commencent a l’echelle de la ville, pour se poursuivre a celle du bâti qui assure la protection, l’inertie et l’ombre. Parmi les elements regulateurs figure le patio, omnipresent du Maroc a la Chine. Sous ses diverses formes, il constitue un moderateur du microclimat interieur des habitations. Pourtant, la maison a patio a ete delaissee et critiquee. Son abandon s’est fait au profit de modeles reputes plus urbains, mieux ancres dans la tradition occidentale. Si cet article rehabilite quelque peu cette forme architecturale, c’est que, par ses qualites intrinseques d’adaptation au climat desertique, elle merite des applications plus etendues et un reajustement approprie, dans le cadre d’un habitat individuel dense et groupe, independant de l’heliocentrisme.
