This study examined the effect of entrepreneurial attributes on venture creation among undergraduate students of selected universities in Southwest, Nigeria. The study measures the presence of entrepreneurial attributes (creativity, critical thinking, risk taking, leadership skills and resilience) among undergraduate students of selected public and private universities in Southwest, Nigeria. A total of 751 copies of questionnaires were distributed and 616 copies were returned and deemed suitable for analysis. A structural equation model (PLS 3.0) was used for the analysis. The result showed that entrepreneurial attributes contribute more to business opportunity identification, business planning and business startups. This implies that universities in Nigeria should develop these attributes (creativity, critical thinking, risk taking, leadership skills and resilience) through entrepreneurship education to reduce the rate of graduate unemployment in Nigeria.

Entrepreneurs are those who take initiative and work tirelessly to turn their business ideas into viable, successful companies through innovation. Understanding entrepreneurial behaviour is essential to comprehend how entrepreneurs establish, promote, and expand new businesses. This study investigates the influence of entrepreneurial behaviour and innovation among undergraduate students of selected universities in southwest Nigeria. The target audience was made up of undergraduate students from selected private universities in southwest Nigeria. To be more precise, the purposive sampling method was used to choose the study’s participants. To gather information from a varied cross-section of students, 370 copies of the questionnaire were distributed. Only 296 copies of the surveys that were sent out were returned, which indicates an 80.2% response rate. Structural equation modelling was used to examine the data gathered. The results showed that opportunity identification significantly influences innovation more than self-efficacy and risk tolerance. Opportunity identification is the most important factor of entrepreneurial behaviour that helps students to be innovative and become entrepreneurs. The study recommended that to foster entrepreneurship behaviour and innovation among undergraduates, universities in Nigeria should integrate experiential learning opportunities across disciplines to nurture self-efficacy, opportunities identification, and risk tolerance through entrepreneurship education.

Abstract This research explored the effects of the legal system on SMEs operations in the Nigerian economy. The study aimed to address the gap in literature discussing the legal system and SMEs’ operations in Nigeria. It focused on learning about the current level of support of the legal system for SME operations and as well as suggesting an approach to enhance effective SMEs’ operations in Nigeria further. The current study applied a conceptual review, relying on extant literature relating to the antecedence of the Nigeria legal system, focusing on the critical factors affecting SME practices in Nigeria. A key finding is the importance of the legal system functions to SMEs practice in Nigeria. It also highlighted the weaknesses of the legal system in providing the needed backing and conducive business environment for SMEs in Nigeria. A model was proposed, depicting the need for restructuring of the legal system, improvised support of other government functionaries and other relevant stakeholders, to facilitate SMEs’ operations and enhance their contributions to the Nigerian economy. The research ends with the suggestion for further research to consider other research methodological approaches, the development of alternative dispute revolutionary measures, as well as a comparative study involving two or more economies in order to project further learning on the legal system and SMEs’ operations.

This paper focused on human resource issues in a private sector organization. The study adopted a qualitative approach, using Systemic Intervention to identify and develop solutions to tackling human resource issues through the engagement of relevant stakeholders in the organizational operations. Interviews, workshops, and boundary critique were used for data collection. Collected data were sorted for thematic analysis. Critical issues identified in the research process included frequent junior staff turnover challenges, general human resource security, junior staff’s educational qualification, and irregular work schedule. Findings showed that joint participation in the research process enables learning among participants from across the case study organization structure. It also provided a significant platform for the exploration of diverse opinions and perspectives of participants. A reflection on the qualitative methodology showed the usefulness of combining techniques and methods from different methods in addressing complex human resource issues. However, it is noted that the implementation of developed solutions requires continuous evaluation to maintain effectiveness in systemic intervention. The study concluded with the suggestion for further research to use various methods to explore the influence(s) of external factors on internal human resource challenges, especially in the private sector and a developing economy such as Nigeria.

SME operators in the informal sector of developing economies have a significant influence on their nation's economies through their involvement in international business relationships. However, the existing deficiency in the literature to show empirical relationships between knowledge transfer, from these SMEs and their international business partners, and innovation performance is a significant gap in the strategic management and international business literature. Therefore, this paper explores the link between knowledge transfer and innovation performance of informal economy SMEs that are involved in international business relationships. The study included a survey of 370 owners-managers and managers of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria's informal electronic market. Using Structural Equation Model (AMOS 22) this study shows that knowledge transfer dimensions, such as R&D and social networking, have varying levels of impact on innovation performance of informal sector SMEs. Knowledge transfer from training showed an inverse and insignificant relationship with innovation performance. The study established implications and recommendations that will be useful for theory and practice.
