Chiral sulfoxide is considered to be an ideal candidate ligand for transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric reactions due to its ease of synthesis, stability, and exceptional S-stereological orientation control. The cigarette beetle, Lasioderma serricorne (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Anobiidae), is a destructive stored product pest worldwide. Adult cigarette beetles are known to rely on host volatiles and pheromones to locate suitable habitats for oviposition and mating, respectively. However, little is known about the chemosensory mechanisms of these pests. Soluble chemoreception proteins are believed to initiate olfactory signal transduction in insects, which play important roles in host searching and mating behaviors. In this study, we sequenced the antennal transcriptome of L. serricorne and identified 14 odorant-binding proteins (OBPs), 5 chemosensory proteins (CSPs), and 2 Niemann-Pick C2 proteins (NPC2). Quantitative realtime PCR (qPCR) results revealed that several genes (LserOBP2, 3, 6, and 14) were predominantly expressed in females, which might be involved in specific functions in this gender. The five LserOBPs (LserOBP1, 4, 8, 10, and 12) that were highly expressed in the male antennae might encode proteins involved in specific functions in males. These findings will contribute to a better understanding of the olfactory system in this stored product pest and will assist in the development of efficient and environmentally friendly strategies for controlling L. serricorne.

A metal-free Cs2CO3-promoted hydrothiolation of alkynes with aryl thioureas for stereoselective synthesis of (Z)-vinyl sulfides has been reported. Vinyl thioethers were obtained without a metal catalyst in good yields via anti-Markovnikov and cis addition. The protocol features a broad substrate scope of the starting materials, high atom economy, good yields, and exclusive stereoselectivity, showing potential synthetic value for the synthesis of a diversity of (Z)-vinyl thioethers.

Heat stroke (HS) is a serious disease accompany with central nervous system (CNS) injury, such as delirium, convulsion, and coma. Currently, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been demonstrated novel neuroprotective effects, and thereofre it becomes the aim of the present research to explore the neuroprotective effects and mechanisms of MSCs against HS injury.HS rat models were induced in a 40℃ and 65% humidity environment until the rectal temperature reached to 42℃. The verified HS injury model rats were divided into HS group and MSCs-treated group. Each rat in the treated group was infused with 1x106 MSCs suspended in 0.3 ml physiological saline via the tail vein. The rats in the HS- or MSCs-treated groups were further divided into early stage (3d) and late stage (28d). At the set timepoint, the mortality was analyzed and levels of liver and kidney function indicators in blood were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer. The neurons morphologic changes were observed through Nissl staining, and neurological deficit score were performed. Moreover, the levels of inflammatory factors in brain tissue were measured by using a multi-cytokine detection platform, and expression of BDNF, phosphorylated TrkB and P38 were detected by Western Bolt.MSCs injection significantly reduced the mortality and alleviated the liver and kidney function. Moreover, the neurological deficit and neuronic edema of the hippocampus caused by HS both at 3d and 28d were significantly ameliorated by MSCs administration. Specifically, the injection of MSCs inhibited the high levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and IL-17A caused by HS but elevated the levels of IL-10 and IL-13 in the early period (3d); while in the later period (28d), MSCs significantly increased the levels of IL-10 and IL-13 continuously and inhibited the high level of IL-17A. Furthermore, MSCs injection increased the expressions of BDNF and phosphorylated TrkB (BDNF receptor), meanwhile inhibited the expression of phosphorylated P38 (inflammatory factor) in the brains of HS rats in the early period (3d) but had no significant influence in the later period (28d).These results suggested that MSCs injection may provide therapeutic effects in HS of rats by improving the liver and kidney function, reducing the CNS damage. Moreover, MSCs injection inhibited the brain inflammatory response of HS rats, and the BDNF-TrkB and P38/MAPK signal pathways may be involved.which may provide a potential mechanism for HS therapy by MSCs administration.

The offspring of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have a high predisposition to developing type 2 diabetes during childhood and adulthood. The aim of the study was to evaluate how GDM exposure in the second half of pregnancy contributes to hepatic glucose intolerance through a mouse model.By creating a GDM mouse model, we tested glucose and insulin tolerance of offspring by intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test (IPGTT), insulin tolerance test (ITT), and pyruvate tolerance test (PTT). In addition, we checked the expression of genes IGF2/H19, FoxO1, and DNMTs in the mouse liver by RT-qPCR. Pyrosequencing was used to detect the methylation status on IGF2/H19 differentially methylated regions (DMRs).We found that the first generation of GDM offspring (GDM-F1) exhibited impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and insulin resistance, with males being disproportionately affected. In addition, the expression of imprinted genes IGF2 and H19 was downregulated in the livers of male miceOur results demonstrated that the intrauterine hyperinsulinemia environment has increased hepatic FoxO1 levels and subsequently increased expression of DNMT3A and epigenetic alterations on IGF2/H19 DMRs. These findings provide potential molecular mechanisms responsible for glucose intolerance and insulin resistance in the first male generation of GDM mice.

Preterm delivery is greatly associated with perinatal mortality and morbidity, while there is no objective way to identify high-risk newborns currently. This study aimed at discovering the risk factor for Apgar score less than 7 at 1 minute of preterm neonates born with vaginal delivery. A retrospective study was performed in single pregnancy women with a vaginal delivery before 37 weeks of gestation. All the preterm infants were categorized into three types: very preterm birth (28 to 32 weeks), moderate preterm birth (32 to 34 weeks) and late preterm birth (34 to 37 weeks). Risk factors were identified through logistic regression analysis in every category of newborns mentioned above. And the receiver operating characteristic analysis was used in continuous variables to determine the best threshold of the outcome. On the basis of the selected factors, the predicting models are created and its prognosticating ability is compared by the area under the curve. A nomogram was established for the proved best model. A total of 981 cases were investigated, of whom 55 were found with 1 min Apgar scores less than 7. The nomogram was set for the predicting model with larger area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, of which is 0.742(95% confidence interval = 0.670–0.805) in very preterm birth, with the variables of first and second labor stage(> = 1.6 hours), birthweight and MgSO4(magnesium sulfate), and is 0.807(95% confidence interval = 0.776–0.837) in late preterm birth, with the variables of second labor stage(> = 1.23 hours), birthweight, a history of previous cesarean delivery, fetal distress and placental abruption. The combination of first and second labor stage, newborn weight and MgSO4 use can predict 74.2% of 1 minute Apgar score < 7 in very preterm neonates. And 80.7% high-risk infants can be identified when second labor stage, newborn weight, VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and the occur of placental abruption and fetal distress were combined in the predicting model for late preterm birth. These predicting models would bring out great assistance towards obstetricians and reduce unnecessary adverse fetal outcomes.

Background Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is an effective and minimally invasive treatment for managing hepatic hemangiomas. Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) often occurs with hemoglobinuria, and its underlying pathophysiological mechanism is unknown. Heme can trigger inflammation by inducing the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the production of inflammatory mediators. We therefore investigated whether circulating heme is involved in SIRS following RFA of hepatic hemangiomas.Methods We enrolled 65 patients with hepatic hemangioma who underwent RFA. Serum concentrations of free heme, ROS, and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) were measured after RFA. Univariate analysis and a multivariate binary logistic regression model were used to evaluate the contribution of 17 risk factors for SIRS after RFA.Results Fifty-nine (59/65, 90.8%) patients developed hemoglobinuria, among which 25 (38%) experienced SIRS shortly after RFA. In the SIRS group, the serum concentrations of heme, ROS, and TNF-α were immediately elevated after RFA compared with baseline and slowly regained their normal levels 3 days after RFA. Background Rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) can effectively manage malaria cases and reduce excess costs brought by misdiagnosis. However, few studies have evaluated the economic value of this technology. The purpose of this study is to systematically review the economic value of RDT in malaria diagnosis. Main text A detailed search strategy was developed to identify published economic evaluations that provide evidence regarding the cost-effectiveness of malaria RDT. Electronic databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, Biosis Previews, Web of Science and Cochrane Library were searched from Jan 2007 to July 2018. Two researchers screened studies independently based on pre-specified inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS) checklist was applied to evaluate the quality of the studies. Then cost and effectiveness data were extracted and summarized in a narrative way. Fifteen economic evaluations of RDT compared to other diagnostic methods were identified. The overall quality of studies varied greatly but most of them were scored to be of high or moderate quality. Ten of the fifteen studies reported that RDT was likely to be a cost-effective approach compared to its comparisons, but the results could be influenced by the alternatives, study perspectives, malaria prevalence, and the types of RDT. Conclusions Based on available evidence, RDT had the potential to be more cost-effective than either microscopy or presumptive diagnosis. Further research is also required to draw a more robust conclusion.

In recent years, radiofrequency (RF) ablation has been increasingly used for treating hepatic hemangiomas attributing to its unique advantages, such as minimal invasiveness, definite efficacy, high safety, fast recovery, and wide applicability. However, complications related to RF ablation had been frequently reported, especially while being used for treating huge hemangioma (≥10 cm). Cautious measures had been taken to prevent the incidence of ablation-induced complications, but still unexpected complications occurred. Herein we reported a case of severe myocardial dysfunction along with systemic inflammatory response syndrome occurring immediately post RF ablation of a 10.7 cm hemangioma. This serious complication was effectively managed by supportive care with the full recovery in a short period of time.

Background Children aged under five years accounted for 61% of all malaria deaths worldwide in 2017, and quicker differential diagnosis of malaria fever is vital for them. Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are strips to detect. Plasmodium specific antigens promptly and are helpful in resource-limited areas. Thus, our aim is to assess the diagnostic accuracy of RDTs for malaria in children against the gold standard. Methods MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and Sinomed databases were systematically searched on August 23, 2019. Studies that compared RDTs with microscopy or polymerase chain reaction in malaria diagnoses for children were eligible. Relevant data were extracted. The quality of studies was evaluated using the revised Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies instrument. Meta-analyses were carried out to calculate the pooled estimates and 95% confidence intervals of sensitivity and specificity. Results 51 articles were included. For diagnostic accuracy, the pooled estimates of the sensitivity and specificity of RDTs were 0.93 (95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.90, 0.95) and 0.93 (95% CI = 0.90, 0.96) respectively. Studies were highly heterogeneous, and subgroup analyses showed that the application of RDTs in high malaria transmission areas had higher sensitivity but lower specificity than those in low-to-moderate areas. Conclusions RDTs have high accuracy for malaria diagnosis in children, and this characteristic is more prominent in high transmission areas. As they also have the advantages of rapid-detection, are easy-to-use, and can be cost-effective, it is recommended that the wider usage of RDTs should be promoted, especially in resource-limited areas. Further research is required to assess their performance in WHO South-East Asia and Americas Region.

The immobilization of molecular catalysts to fabricate heterogeneous catalysts for catalytic asymmetric transformations is extremely important and has attracted great attentions. Herein we developed a simple and new strategy for the heterogenization of homogeneous molecular complexes into the cross-linked polymer. It is demonstrated for the first time that the cross-linked polysiloxane elastomers can be applied for the swollen-induced in-situ encapsulation of homogeneous catalysts with or without chiral ligands. The swollen-induced in-situ encapsulation of silver catalyst system in the cross-linked polysiloxane elastomers led to the formation of silicone rubber-based hierarchically porous that could be used in asymmetric [3+2] cycloaddition, asymmetric tandem conjugate addition−elimination reaction and oxidation of hydrosilanes to silanols. The swollen-induced in-situ encapsulation of chiral silver complex in the cross-linked polysiloxane elastomers was proved to be easily recycled by filtration or pick-up and reused by several times. The simplest heterogeneous catalysis by the strategy of swollen-induced in-situ encapsulation can be extended to the encapsulation of chiral metal catalysts into different polymeric materials for the heterogenization of homogeneous catalysis.

This work is aimed to develop the key algorithms used in medical robots, which can detect alcohol use disorder from structural magnetic resonance imaging of brains. We enrolled 30 alcoholic participants and 30 nonalcoholic participants. In the algorithm stage, we suggested to use Hu moment invariant to extract global features, and use single-hidden layer neural-network as the classifier. Afterwards, we proposed a novel predator–prey adaptive-inertia chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithm to train the classifier. The ten-fold stratified cross validation showed that our method achieves a sensitivity of 90.67 ± 3.16%, a specificity of 91.33 ± 3.06%, and an accuracy of 91.00 ± 1.41%. Our results are better than genetic algorithm, firefly algorithm, and particle swarm optimization. This proposes algorithm is effective in alcoholism detection. It can be installed on medical robots.

Interventional radiology has been beneficial for patients for over 30 years of age with the combination of diagnostic and therapeutic methods. The radiation affecting occupationally exposed workers should be evaluated by means of the energy spectra and flux of X-rays in the treatment room. The present study aims to obtain the energy spectra of interventional procedures and study the capability of some detectors to evaluate the dose in interventional procedures. These measurements were taken by silicon-drift, CdTe, and CdZnTe detectors. The energy spectra were corrected by the energy-response curve of each detector. The energy-response curves of silicon-drift and CdTe detectors provided by the manufacturers specification were used. The energy response of the CdZnTe detector was measured by $$^{133}\hbox {Ba}$$ and $$^{152}\hbox {Eu}$$ $$\gamma$$ sources. The experimental data were compared with the simulation results, and their perfect agreement provides a way to correct the energy or dose response, which can be used for the personal dosimeter developed by our group. Moreover, the measured energy spectra can be used in individual radiation protection. The present study shows that the CdZnTe detector is a good candidate detector in interventional procedures.

Aim: It is beneficial to classify brain images as healthy or pathological automatically, because 3D brain images can generate so much information which is time consuming and tedious for manual analysis. Among various 3D brain imaging techniques, magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is the most suitable for brain, and it is now widely applied in hospitals, because it is helpful in the four ways of diagnosis, prognosis, pre-surgical, and postsurgical procedures. There are automatic detection methods; however they suffer from low accuracy. Method: Therefore, we proposed a novel approach which employed 2D discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and calculated the entropies of the subbands as features. Then, a bat algorithm optimized extreme learning machine (BA-ELM) was trained to identify pathological brains from healthy controls. A 10x10-fold cross validation was performed to evaluate the out-of-sample performance. Result: The method achieved a sensitivity of 99.04%, a specificity of 93.89%, and an overall accuracy of 98.33% over 132 MR brain images. Conclusion: The experimental results suggest that the proposed approach is accurate and robust in pathological brain detection.

Detection of Alzheimer's disease (AD) from magnetic resonance images can help neuroradiologists to make decision rapidly and avoid missing slight lesions in the brain. Currently, scholars have proposed several approaches to automatically detect AD. In this study, we aimed to develop a novel AD detection system with better performance than existing systems. 28 ADs and 98 HCs were selected from OASIS dataset. We used inter-class variance criterion to select single slice from the 3D volumetric data. Our classification system is based on three successful components: wavelet entropy, multilayer perceptron, and biogeography-base optimization. The statistical results of our method obtained an accuracy of 92.40 ± 0.83%, a sensitivity of 92.14 ± 4.39%, a specificity of 92.47 ± 1.23%. After comparison, we observed that our pathological brain detection system is superior to latest 6 other approaches.

BACKGROUND Increasing epidemiological studies have confirmed the association between maternal preeclampsia and elevated blood pressure in their offspring. Though case-control or cohort studies have demonstrated long-term outcomes for the offspring of preeclampsia, it is still a question that how these changes were caused by genetic reasons or by preeclampsia itself. OBJECTIVE In our study, we explored the potential epigenetic regulation of delta-like homolog 1-maternally expressed gene 3 (DLK1-MEG3) region in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and its connection with endothelium-derived factors. STUDY DESIGN We recruited 58 singletons born with spontaneous conception (control group) and 67 singletons whose mother with preeclampsia (preeclampsia group), and detected the infants' blood pressure and growth development index. To explore the potential mechanism, we did real-time PCR to test DLK1-MEG3 imprinted genes and endothelium-derived factors. ELISA confirmed the protein secretion changes between two groups. In addition to confirm epigenetic alteration in preeclampsia HUVEC, we performed pyro-sequencing to detect methylation status of two different methylation regions: intergenic differential methylation region (IG-DMR) and MEG3 DMR which control the expression of DLK1 and MEG3. Furthermore, Person correlation was used to make sure the association of methylation alteration of IG-DMR and endothelium-derived factors. As an excellent alternative to native chemical ligations, the ligation–desulfurization strategy enables the ligations on the other N-terminal peptides (in addition to Cys) and is highly promising in peptide synthesis. In the present study, the relative facility of the desulfurization on the pre-sulfurized amino acids and their carboxylate derivatives has been examined with the aid of density functional theory calculations. It is found that the C–SH bond strengths of the sulfurized amino acids directly relate to the stability of the formed radical. By contrast, the carboxylation of the sulfurized amino acids greatly stabilizes the carbonyl radical center, and both the steric and electronic effects are important factors in determining the C–SH bond strength of the carboxylate precursors. With the development of rapid technology, the similarity between plants is increasing, which will enhance the classified workload of botanists. Therefore, it is urge to find a quick automatic classification method. In recent years, the performance of autoencoder has become more and more prominent. Consequently, in this paper, we employ stacked autoencoder to classify three plants, including 630 images in total. The result of this experience shows that the accuracy of classification is 93.3%.

To further shorten the charging time, enhancing charging efficiency and extending battery charge cycle life, this paper presents a variable frequency pulse fast charging methods based on fuzzy control depolarization. This method uses perturbation and observation method tracking resonant frequency real-timely and then finds the maximum current corresponding to the resonant frequency to charge the battery while using fuzzy control technology to detect and eliminate polarization effects arising from the charge process to accelerate the charging speed and realize frequency-varied fast charging. Experiments showed that using the fuzzy control frequency-varied pulse charging technique improves the charging time, charging efficiency, and rising temperature of the Li-ion battery by about 6.9%, 2.4%, 17.3%, respectively, as compared with the currently used fast charging method of intermittent alternating current.

A novel hyaluronidase (BgHya1) from Yak Bos grunniens testis was isolated and shown to have comparatively high activity on sodium hyaluronate. However, surveys on BgHya1 are still limited. The enzyme was purified through gel filtration on Sephacryl S-100 and cation-exchange on SP Sepharose fast flow; the purity was confirmed by a reverse phase FPLC Shodex C4 column. The specific activity of the purified BgHya1 was 20.4 U/mg assayed by the colorimetric method against 0.85 U/mg for the crude enzyme, representing a 24-fold purification. It was a monomeric protein of 55 kDa estimated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and Sephacryl S-200. It exhibited maximum activity in the presence of 0.15 M NaCl at 37 °C, pH 3.8, and a specificity to sodium hyaluronate higher than that of chondroitin-4-sulfate, chondroitin-6-sulfate, and dermatan. The K m value for BgHya1, using sodium hyaluronate as substrate, was 0.106 mg/mL. Activity of BgHya1 was inhibited mildly by Ca2+ and Fe2+, and significantly by Fe3+, Mg2+, EDTA, urea, heparin, and 0.5 M NaCl. It was not affected by Cu2+, Zn2+, Co2+, ascorbic acid, PMSF, DTT, glutathione (reduced), or L-cysteine. BgHya1 was shown to be heat unstable in the range of 4–45 °C. In terms of storage stability, 92% of the activity was retained after four weeks at 4 °C, and 58% at room temperature. In addition, adding BSA (1.0 mg/mL) to the enzyme sample prior to freezing resulted in complete retention of enzyme activity. This work yielded a high purity hyaluronidase, the first one isolated from Bos grunniens by-product.

In order to improve quality of wheelset assembly, a method for calculating interference between two sliding asperities that corresponding to the wheelset assembly interference is presented. A finite element model of sliding spherical asperity has been built with the finite element software ABAQUS to analyze the interaction among mating surface roughness, stress-strain state and press-fit curve. This study shows that final fitting force greatly increases with roughness when roughness is lower then 1.8μm and it is unpredicted when roughness is higher. Contact stress and friction coefficient between mating surfaces increase with roughness.

This paper has analyzed the current application status of agricultural Remote Sensing and the situation of teaching practice of Remote Sensing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at length; and practically looked for their breakthrough point. On this basis, the paper constructs the frame structure of their combination preliminarily, making the teaching practice combine with the practical application, which allows for the finishing of the process of teaching practice as well as serving the society. This provides a new idea for the combination of production, studying and researching in GIS and broadens the combination mode of teaching and application. Simultaneously, it promotes the students practical ability of using remote sensing and GIS to process and analyze data in actual projects, inspires the students capability of initiative and creative thinking, and improves the students interests of Autonomous learning.

We performed a systematic review to evaluate the efficacy of natural medicines for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Disease-specific and intervention terms were searched in MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library and PsycINFO to identify RCTs for the AD intervention of natural medicines, and searched for literatures in English language. The RCTs compared natural medicines and either placebo or orthodox medication in AD patients. The quality of literature was evaluated by Jadad's score and the Cochrane assessing tool to reduce the risk of bias. Meta-analysis and the heterogeneity of results across the trials were performed. Out of the literatures, 21 clinical reports were included in this review that satisfied the particular selection criteria. Apart from Ginkgo, other treatments we came across had minimal benefits and/or the methodological quality of the available trials was poor. The meta-analyses showed that Ginkgo had better outcomes than the placebo, with the standardized mean difference (SMD) between Ginkgo and the placebo on cognition being -1.62 (95% CI: -2.69 to -0.56) and on activities of daily living being -1.55 (95% CI: -2.55 to -0.55), with the existence of significant heterogeneity across studies. The meta-analysis for assessing the prevention effect of Ginkgo against AD suggested that risk ratio (RR) is 1.06 (95% CI: 0.92 to 1.22) between Gingko and the placebo, with no significant heterogeneity across studies (test for heterogeneity, p = 0.49). Our results suggest that Ginkgo may help established AD patients with cognitive symptoms but cannot prevent the neurodegenerative progression of the disease.

In this paper, we proposed a method for plant classification, which aims to recognize the type of leaves from a set of image instances captured from same viewpoints. Firstly, for feature extraction, this paper adopted the 2-level wavelet transform and obtained in total 7 features. Secondly, the leaves were automatically recognized and classified by Back-Propagation neural network (BPNN). Meanwhile, we employed K-fold cross-validation to test the correctness of the algorithm. The accuracy of our method achieves 90.0%. Further, by comparing with other methods, our method arrives at the highest accuracy.

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) offers an efficient evaluation over microstructure of white matter integrity. In this study, we aim to study the white matter tracts, which are associated with normal ageing. 42 healthy subjects were included, which is composed of two groups. One is young subjects (age = 22.29±1.35), and the other is elder (age = 63.71±2.00). Statistical analysis over FA was carried out by TBSS. We observed FA decreases significantly in several white matter tracts, including anterior thalamic radiation (ATR), cingulum (cingulate gyrus), corticospinal tract (CST), forceps minor, forceps major, inferior longitudinal fasciculus (ILF), superior longitudinal fasciculus (SLF). Most found all tracts were reported in past literatures. Nevertheless, we are the first to find the relationship between forceps major and ageing.

Cornus officinalis is one of the most widely used medicinal plants in China and other East Asian countries to cure diseases such as liver, kidney, cardiovascular diseases and frequent urination for thousands of years. It is a Level 3 protected species, and is one of the 42 national key protected wild species of animals and plants in China. However, the genetics and molecular biology of C. officinalis are poorly understood, which has hindered research on the molecular mechanism of its metabolism and utilization. Hence, enriching its genomic data and information is very important. In recent years, the fast-growing technology of next generation sequencing has provided an effective path to gain genomic information from nonmodel species. This study is the first to explore the leaf and fruit tissue transcriptome of C. officinalis using the Illumina HiSeq 4000 platform. A total of 57,954,134 and 60,971,652 clean reads from leaf and fruit were acquired, respectively (GenBank number SRP115440). The pooled reads from all two libraries were assembled into 56,392 unigenes with an average length 856 bp. Among these, 41,146 unigenes matched with sequences in the NCBI nonredundant protein database. The Gene Ontology database assigned 24,336 unigenes with biological process (83.26%), cellular components (53.58%), and molecular function (83.93%). In addition, 10,808 unigenes were assigned a KOG functional classification by the KOG database. Searching against the KEGG pathway database indicated that 18,435 unigenes were mapped to 371 KEGG pathways. Moreover, the edgeR database identified 4,585 significant differentially expressed genes (DEGs), of which 1,392 were up-regulated and 3,193 were down-regulated in fruit tissue compared with leaf tissue. Finally, we explored 581 transcription factors with 50 transcription factor gene families. Most DEGs and transcription factors were related to terpene biosynthesis and secondary metabolic regulation. This study not only represented the first de novo transcriptomic analysis of C. officinalis but also provided fundamental information on its genes and biosynthetic pathway. These findings will help us explore the molecular metabolism mechanism of terpene biosynthesis in C. officinalis.
