This polymer was complexed first with superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle (SPION) to get a MRI-visible targeted non-viral vector (scAbGD2-PEG-g-PEI-SPION) and then with Bcl-2 siRNA to form nanoparticles showing low cytotoxicity. The targeting capacity of scAbGD2-PEG-g-PEI-SPION was successfully verified in vivo and in vitro by magnetic resonance imaging. The single chain antibody encoded targeted polyplex was more effective in transferring Bcl-2 siRNA than the nontargeting one in SK-N-SH cells, a human neuroblastoma cell line, resulting in a 46.34% inhibition in the expression of Bcl-2 mRNA. Consequently, a high level of cell apoptosis up to 50.76% and a significant suppression of tumor growth were achieved, which indicates that scAbGD2-PEG-g-PEI-SPION is a promising magnetic resonance imaging-visible non-viral vector for targeted neuroblastoma siRNA therapy and diagnosis.Keywords: tumor targeting, GD2, non-viral vector, Bcl-2 small interfering RNA, magnetic resonance imaging

Abstract: The branching fraction of the ψ(2S) decay into τ+τ - has been measured for the first time using the BES detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The result is Bττ=(2.710. 43±0.55)× 10-3, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This value, along with those for the branching fractions into e+e- and μ+ μ- of this resonance, satisfy well the relation predicted by the sequential lepton hypothesis. Combining all these values with the leptonic width of the resonance, the total width of the ψ(25) is determined to be (252±37) keV. ©2002 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) detector is a general purpose solenoid detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider in Beijing, China. The recent upgrade of the initial BES detector to the improved BES II detector is described. A new drift chamber, time-of-flight counter, luminosity monitor compatible with a low-β lattice was built as well as the vertex chamber.

Abstract: The first measurement of (Formula presented) and an upper limit for (Formula presented) are determined from 22.3 (Formula presented) of (Formula presented) annihilation data at a c.m. energy of 4.03 GeV. The data were recorded by the Beijing Spectrometer (BES) at BEPC. A recoil charge method is applied to charm threshold data to determine the charge of the D meson in the recoil from (Formula presented) reconstructed (Formula presented) (Formula presented) mesons. The branching fractions (Formula presented) and (Formula presented) are determined from 10 events with a reconstructed D and a recoiling (Formula presented) In addition, a 90% C.L. upper limit of (Formula presented) is determined from a search for semileptonic decays of the (Formula presented) © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Using a sample of 3.8 M (Formula presented) events accumulated with the BES detector, the process (Formula presented) is studied. The angular distributions are compared with the general decay amplitude analysis of Cahn. We find that the dipion system requires some D wave amplitude, as well as S wave. On the other hand, the (Formula presented) relative angular momentum is consistent with being pure S wave. The decay distributions have been fit to heavy quarkonium models, including the Novikov-Shifman model. This model, which is written in terms of the parameter (Formula presented) predicts that D wave pions should be present. We determine (Formula presented) based on the joint (Formula presented) distribution. The fraction of D wave amplitude as a function of (Formula presented) is found to decrease with increasing (Formula presented) in agreement with the model. We have also fit the Mannel-Yan model, which is another model that allows D wave pions. © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The cross section for charmed meson production at √s=4.03 and 4.14 GeV has been measured with the Beijing Spectrometer. The measurement was made using 22.3 pb-1 of e+e- data collected at 4.03 GeV and 1.5 pb-1 of e+e- data collected at 4.14 GeV. Inclusive observed cross sections for the production of charged and neutral D mesons and momentum spectra are presented. Observed cross sections were radiatively corrected to obtain tree level cross sections. Measurements of the total hadronic cross section are obtained from the charmed meson cross section and an extrapolation of results from below the charm threshold. ©2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Using a sample of 3.8 M (Formula presented) events accumulated with the BES detector, the process (Formula presented) is studied. The angular distributions are compared with the general decay amplitude analysis of Cahn. We find that the dipion system requires some D wave amplitude, as well as S wave. On the other hand, the (Formula presented) relative angular momentum is consistent with being pure S wave. The decay distributions have been fit to heavy quarkonium models, including the Novikov-Shifman model. This model, which is written in terms of the parameter (Formula presented) predicts that D wave pions should be present. We determine (Formula presented) based on the joint (Formula presented) distribution. The fraction of D wave amplitude as a function of (Formula presented) is found to decrease with increasing (Formula presented) in agreement with the model. We have also fit the Mannel-Yan model, which is another model that allows D wave pions. © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The first measurement of (Formula presented) and an upper limit for (Formula presented) are determined from 22.3 (Formula presented) of (Formula presented) annihilation data at a c.m. energy of 4.03 GeV. The data were recorded by the Beijing Spectrometer (BES) at BEPC. A recoil charge method is applied to charm threshold data to determine the charge of the D meson in the recoil from (Formula presented) reconstructed (Formula presented) (Formula presented) mesons. The branching fractions (Formula presented) and (Formula presented) are determined from 10 events with a reconstructed D and a recoiling (Formula presented) In addition, a 90% C.L. upper limit of (Formula presented) is determined from a search for semileptonic decays of the (Formula presented) © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A sample of 3.79 × 106ψ(2S) events is used to study the decays of charmonium to axial-vector plus pseudoscalar mesons. The branching fraction for the decay ψ(2S) → b±1(1235)π∓ agrees with expectations based on scaling the corresponding J/ψ branching fraction. Flavor-SU(3)-violating K1(1270)- K1(1400) asymmetries with opposite character for ψ(2S) and J/ψ decays are observed. This contrasting behavior cannot be accommodated by adjustments of the singlet-triplet mixing angle. © 1999 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The decays of the ψ(2S) into vector plus tensor meson final states have been studied for the first time using the BES detector. We determine upper limits on branching fractions for ψ(2S) decays into ωf2, ρa2, K*0K*02 + c.c., and φf'2(1525) that are, in each case, significantly smaller than the corresponding branching fractions for the J/ψ meson, scaled according to the expectations of perturbative QCD. © 1998 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The processes ψ(2S) → I π+ π−, γK+ K−, and γpp¯ have been studied using a sample of 3.79 × 106 ψ(2S) decays. We determine the total width of the χc0 to be γtotχc0 = 14.3 ± 2.0 ± 3.0 MeV. We present the first measurement of the branching fraction B(χc0 → pp¯) = (15.9 ± 4.3 ± 5.3) × 10−5, where the first error is statistical and the second one is systematic. Branching fractions of χc0, 2 → π+ π− and K+ K− are also reported. © 1998 American Physical Society.

A search was performed for D → μνμ recoiling against a D0 or D+ which had been reconstructed from its hadronic decay products. A single event candidate was found in the reaction e+e- → D*+D-, where D*+ → π+D0 with the D0 → K-π+, and the recoiling D- decaying via D- → μ-ν̄μ. Abstract: A search is performed for the production of the (Formula presented) in (Formula presented) annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV using the BES detector operated at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). The kinematic features of the reconstructed (Formula presented) signal are consistent with its being produced only in association with an energetic photon resulting from initial state radiation (ISR). Limits are placed on (Formula presented) production from the decay of unknown charmonia or metastable hybrids that might be produced in (Formula presented) annihilations at 4.03 GeV. Under the assumption that the observed cross section for (Formula presented) production is due entirely to ISR, the partial width (Formula presented) of the (Formula presented) is measured to be (Formula presented). © 1998 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The absolute inclusive branching fraction of (Formula presented) has been measured from data collected by the BES detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 22.3 pb(Formula presented). At this energy, direct pair production (Formula presented) has been observed. We have selected (Formula presented) candidate events by reconstructing five hadronic decay modes (Formula presented), (Formula presented), (Formula presented), (Formula presented) and (Formula presented) and have searched for inclusive (Formula presented)’s in the recoiling (Formula presented). We observed three recoiling (Formula presented)’s in the 166.4 (Formula presented) 31.8 (Formula presented) candidate events, which leads to the absolute branching fraction (Formula presented) and (Formula presented). © 1998 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A search is performed for the production of the (Formula presented) in (Formula presented) annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV using the BES detector operated at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). The kinematic features of the reconstructed (Formula presented) signal are consistent with its being produced only in association with an energetic photon resulting from initial state radiation (ISR). Limits are placed on (Formula presented) production from the decay of unknown charmonia or metastable hybrids that might be produced in (Formula presented) annihilations at 4.03 GeV. Under the assumption that the observed cross section for (Formula presented) production is due entirely to ISR, the partial width (Formula presented) of the (Formula presented) is measured to be (Formula presented). © 1998 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The cross section for e+e-→ρπ has been measured by the BES detector at BEPC at center-of-mass energies covering a 40 MeV interval spanning the J/ψresonance. The data are used to search for the vector gluonium state hypothesized by Brodsky, Lepage, and Tuan as an explanation of the ρπ puzzle in charmonium physics. The shape of the ρπ cross section is compatible with that of the total hadronic cross section. No distortions indicating the presence of a vector glueball are seen. © 1996 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A data-driven energy scan in the immediate vicinity of the τ pair production threshold has been performed using the Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. Approximately 5pb-1 of data, distributed over 12 scan points, have been collected. A previous mass value for the τ lepton, obtained using only the eµ final state, has been published. In this paper, the final BES result on the mass measurement is presented. The analysis is based on the combined data from the ee, eµ, eh, µµ, µh, and hh final states, where h denotes a charged Π or K. A maximum likelihood fit to the τ pair production cross section data yields the value mT=1776.96-0.21 -0.17+0.18+0.25. © 1995 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) experiment has observed purely leptonic decays of the Ds meson in the reaction e+e-→Ds+Ds- at a c.m. energy of 4.03 GeV. Three events are observed in which one Ds decays hadronically to φπ, K̄*0K, or K̄0K, and the other decays leptonically to μνμ or τντ. With the assumption of μ-τ universality, values of the branching fraction, B(Ds→μνμ)=(1.5-0.6-0.2+1.3+0.3)%, and the Ds pseudoscalar decay constant, fDs=(4.3-1.3-0.4+1.5+0.4)×102 MeV, are obtained. © 1995 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a quasi-model-independent search for the physics responsible for electroweak symmetry breaking. We define final states to be studied, and construct a rule that identifies a set of relevant variables for any particular final state. A new algorithm ("SLEUTH") searches for regions of excess in those variables and quantifies the significance of any detected excess. After demonstrating the sensitivity of the method, we apply it to the semi-inclusive channel e muX collected in 108 pb(-1) of p(p) over bar collisions at roots=1.8 TeV at the DO experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. We find no evidence of new high p(T) physics in this sample.

Abstract: The branching fraction of the ψ(2S) decay into τ+τ - has been measured for the first time using the BES detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The result is Bττ=(2.710. 43±0.55)× 10-3, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This value, along with those for the branching fractions into e+e- and μ+ μ- of this resonance, satisfy well the relation predicted by the sequential lepton hypothesis. Combining all these values with the leptonic width of the resonance, the total width of the ψ(25) is determined to be (252±37) keV. ©2002 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The inclusive jet cross section in p̄p collisions at √s = 630 GeV was measured. Many uncertainties in the results were observed. Despite a 10% to 15% difference in the absolute magnitude, the dependence of the ratio on jet transverse momentum was very similar for data and theory.

Abstract: We apply a quasi-model-independent strategy ("Sleuth") to search for new high p(T) physics in approximately 100 pb(-1) of pp collisions at square root of (s) = 1.8 TeV collected by the D0 experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. We systematically analyze many exclusive final states and demonstrate sensitivity to a variety of models predicting new phenomena at the electroweak scale. No evidence of new high p(T) physics is observed.

Abstract: In a sample of 7.8 million J/ψ decays collected in the Beijing Spectrometer, the process J/ψ→γηcis observed for five different ηcdecay channels: K+K-π+π-, π+π-π+π-, K±KS0π∓ (with KS0→π+π-), φφ (with φ→K+K-) and K+K-π0. From these signals, we determine the mass of ηcto be 2976.6±2.9 ±1.3 MeV. Combining this result with a previously reported result from a similar study using ψ(2S)→γηcdetected in the same spectrometer gives mηc=2976.3±2.3±1.2 MeV. For the combined samples, we obtain Γηc=11.0±8.1±4.1 MeV. ©2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of the bb̄ production cross section and angular correlations using the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp̄ Collider operating at √s = 1.8 TeV. The b quark production cross section for |y(b)| < 1.0 and p(T)/b > 6 GeV/c is extracted from single muon and dimuon data samples. The results agree in shape with the next-to-leading order QCD calculation of heavy flavor production but are greater than the central values of these predictions. The angular correlations between b and b̄ quarks, measured from the azimuthal opening angle between their decay muons, also agree in shape with the next-to-leading order QCD prediction. Abstract: Hadronic decays of the P-wave spin-triplet charmonium states χcJ(J=0,1,2) are studied using a sample of ψ(2S) decays collected by the BES detector operating at the BEPC storage ring. Branching fractions for the decays χc1→Ks0K+π-+c.c., χc0→Ks0Ks0, χc2→Ks0Ks0, χc0→φφ, χc2→φφ and χcJ→K+K-K+K-are measured for the first time, and those for χcJ→π+π-π+π-, χcJ→π+π-K+K-, χcJ→π+π-pp̄ and χcJ→3(π+π-) are measured with improved precision. In addition, we determine the masses of the χc0and ηcto be Mχc0=3414.1±0.6(stat)±0.8(syst) MeV and Mηc=2975.8±3.9(stat)±1.2(syst) MeV. ©1999 The American Physical Society.

45. A multivariable model of clinical features for distinguishing sporotrichosis and Mycobacterium marinum cutaneous infection.

Abstract: To investigate differences in the clinical features of patients with sporotrichosis and cutaneous Mycobacterium marinum infection, and develop a prediction model for the initial identification. A total of 121 patients were selected based on the results from etiological culture. Logistic regression analyses were employed to identify the most valuable variables. In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, the following were finally considered independent predictors (OR = 3.650∼14.024, P<0.05) of cutaneous M. marinum infection: age<60 years (P = 0.031); female (P = 0.001); only the extremities involved (P = 0.031); clear triggers (P = 0.022); and presence of swelling (P = 0.024). A nomogram was developed based on these factors, and the area under the curve was 0.860. The model presented is based on clinical features and can help identify patients with sporotrichosis and cutaneous M. marinum infection. 46. MRI-based radiomics for stratifying recurrence risk of early-onset rectal cancer: a multicenter study.

Abstract: Background: Early-onset rectal cancer (EORC) is characterized by a unique disease process with different clinicopathological features compared with late-onset rectal cancer (LORC). Research on the risk of recurrence in EORC patients, however, is limited. We aim to develop a predictive model to accurately predict EORC recurrence risk., Materials and Methods: Rectal cancer patients who underwent radical surgery and T2-weighted imaging and diffusion-weighted imaging magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were retrospectively enrolled from three medical institutions from November 2012 to November 2018. Differences in clinicopathological characteristics between EORC and LORC were compared. Five prediction models for disease-free survival were constructed based on clinicopathological variables and five radiomic features from pretreatment MRI of the EORC. A fixed cut-off value calculated in the training set was used to stratify EORC patients into high-risk and low-risk groups of post-operative recurrence. Model performance was evaluated by concordance index (C-index) and receiver operating characteristic curve., Results: A total of 264 EORC patients (median age, 43 years, 163 males) and 778 LORC patients (median age, 62 years, 520 males) were enrolled. Pretreatment positive carcinoembryonic antigen [hazard ratio (HR) = 2.84, P = 0.006], pathological positive lymph node status (pN positive) [HR = 2.86, P = 0.011] and MRI-based radiomics score [HR = 2.72, P < 0.001] are independent risk factors for disease-free survival in EORC patients. The EORC-ClinPathRadiom model, constructed by integrating the clinicopathological characteristics and MRI-based radiomics features of EORC, showed C-index of 0.82, 0.82, and 0.81 in the training, internal, and external test sets, respectively. This model effectively stratified EORC patients into high risk and low risk of recurrence (HRs for the training, internal, and external test sets were 8.96, 6.81, and 7.46, respectively)., Conclusion: The EORC-ClinPathRadiom model can effectively predict and stratify the risk of post-operative recurrence in EORC patients., (Copyright © 2024 The Author(s). Abstract: Background and Objective: The effectiveness of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in improving long-term survival outcomes for patients with a solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) measuring 5 cm or less remains uncertain. This study was designed to elucidate the impact of RFA therapy on the survival outcomes of these patients and to construct a prognostic model for patients following RFA., Methods: This study was performed using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2004 to 2017, focusing on patients diagnosed with a solitary HCC lesion ≤5 cm in size. We compared the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) rates of these patients with those of patients who received hepatectomy, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy or who were part of a blank control group. To enhance the reliability of our findings, we employed stabilized inverse probability treatment weighting (sIPTW) and stratified analyses. Additionally, we conducted a Cox regression analysis to identify prognostic factors. XGBoost models were developed to predict 1-, 3-, and 5-year CSS. The XGBoost models were evaluated via receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration plots, decision curve analysis (DCA) curves and so on., Results: Regardless of whether the data were unadjusted or adjusted for the use of sIPTWs, the 5-year OS (46.7%) and CSS (58.9%) rates were greater in the RFA group than in the radiotherapy (27.1%/35.8%), chemotherapy (32.9%/43.7%), and blank control (18.6%/30.7%) groups, but these rates were lower than those in the hepatectomy group (69.4%/78.9%). Stratified analysis based on age and cirrhosis status revealed that RFA and hepatectomy yielded similar OS and CSS outcomes for patients with cirrhosis aged over 65 years. Age, race, marital status, grade, cirrhosis status, tumor size, and AFP level were selected to construct the XGBoost models based on the training cohort. The areas under the curve (AUCs) for 1, 3, and 5 years in the validation cohort were 0.88, 0.81, and 0.79, respectively. Calibration plots further demonstrated the consistency between the predicted and actual values in both the training and validation cohorts., Conclusion: RFA can improve the survival of patients diagnosed with a solitary HCC lesion ≤5 cm. In certain clinical scenarios, RFA achieves survival outcomes comparable to those of hepatectomy. 48. An insight into structure-activity relationships in subclass IIb bacteriocins: Plantaricin EvF.

Abstract: This study reports the structure-activity relationships of a unique subclass IIb bacteriocin, plantaricin EvF, which consists of two peptide chains and possesses potent antimicrobial activity. Because the plantaricin Ev peptide chain lacks an α-helix structure, plantaricin EvF is unable to exert its antimicrobial activity through helix-helix interactions like typical subclass IIb bacteriocins. We have shown by various structural evaluation methods that plantaricin Ev can be stabilized by hydrogen bonding at amino acid residues R3, V12, and R13 to the N-terminal region of plantaricin F. This binding gives plantaricin EvF a special spade-shaped structure that exerts antimicrobial activity. In addition, the root-mean-square deviations (RMSDs) of the amino acid residues Y6, F8, and R13 of plantaricin Ev pre- and post-binding were 1.512, 1.723, and 1.369, respectively, indicating that they underwent large structural changes. The alanine scanning experiments demonstrated the important role of the above key amino acids in maintaining the structural integrity of plantaricin EvF. 49. A mannose-rich exopolysaccharide-1 isolated from Bifidobacterium breve mitigates ovalbumin-induced intestinal damage in mice by modulation CD4 + T cell differentiation and inhibiting NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract: Ovalbumin (OVA)-induced intestinal injury is a recurrent and potentially fatal condition. Previous studies have highlighted the roles of exopolysaccharides, particularly a mannose-rich (89.59 %) exopolysaccharide-1 (EPS-1) with a molecular weight of 39.9 kDa, isolated from Bifidobacterium breve H4-2, in repairing intestinal barriers and regulating immune responses. In this study, a mouse model of OVA-induced intestinal injury was used to investigate the effects of EPS-1 on intestinal barrier restoration. The results demonstrated that EPS-1 treatment (400 mg/kg. d) significantly reduced the allergic index (3.25 ± 0.43) in OVA-challenged mice (p < 0.05), improved the physical integrity of the intestinal barrier by increasing mucin content and goblet cell number in the ileum (p < 0.05). EPS-1 treatment (400 mg/kg. d) also maintained immune barrier integrity by restoring imbalanced CD4 + T/CD8 + T ratios from 0.86 ± 0.02 to 1.04 ± 0.06, regulating Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg cells balance, as well as inhibited the NF-κB signaling pathway. Furthermore, EPS-1 maintained microbiota homeostasis by increasing the abundances of Ruminococcus, Butyricicoccus, and Muribaculaceae, while reducing Streptococcus and Candidatus arthromitus. This microbiota modulation enhanced the levels of metabolites such as tyrosine, methionine, tryptophan, triglycerides, and salidroside. Abstract: Ginseng, from the roots of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, is a widely used herbal medicine in Asian countries, known for its excellent therapeutic properties. The growth of P. ginseng is depend on specific and strict environments, with a preference for wetness but intolerance for flooding. Under excessive soil moisture, some irregular rust-like substances are deposited on the root epidermis, causing ginseng rusty symptoms (GRS). This condition leads to a significant reduce in yield and quality, resulting in substantial economic loses. However, there is less knowledge on the cause of GRS and there are no effective treatments available for its treatment once it occurs. Unsuitable environments lead to the generation of large amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS). We investigated the key indicators associated with the stress response during different physiological stages of GRS development. We observed a significant change in ROS level, MDA contents, antioxidant enzymes activities, and non-enzymatic antioxidants contents prior to the GRS. Through the analysis of soil features with an abundance of moisture, we further determined the source of ROS. The levels of nitrate reductase (NR) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activities in the inter-root soil of ginseng with GRS were significantly elevated compared to those of healthy ginseng. These enzymes boost nitric oxide (NO) levels, which in turn showed a favorable correlation with the GRS. The activities of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase first rose and then decreased as GRS developed. Excess soil moisture causes a decrease in oxygen levels. This activated NR and NOS in the soil, resulting in a production of excess NO. The NO then diffused into the ginseng root and triggered a burst of ROS through NADPH located on the cell membrane. Additionally, Fe 2+ in soil was oxidized to red Fe 3+ , and finally led to GRS. This conclusion was also verified by the Sodium Nitroprusside (SNP), a precursor compound producing NO. The presence of NO from NR and NOS in water-saturated soil is responsible for the generation of ROS. Among these, NO is the main component that contribute to the occurrence of GRS., (© 2024.
