With the advancement of scientific research, an increasing number of studies on metal nanozymes, particularly Au NPs, have been conducted. They possess glucose oxidase (GOD)-like activity and peroxidase (POD)-like activity, with GOD-like activity receiving the most attention. However, there is a lack of research and summary on future trends in Au NPs in biomedical field. Therefore, we conducted a study on the GOD-like activity of Au NPs based on 158 relevant publications downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection between 2007 and 2023, using citation metrics, authors, nations, institutions, cited references, and keywords. We found that Au NPs were initially utilized for glucose biosensors, glucose detection in human serum, and the detection of other carbohydrates and proteins. Researchers have recently focused on its application in oncotherapy and diabetic wound treatment. In addition to being utilized to treat autoimmune illnesses, inflammation, and other diseases, Au NPs may eventually replace insulin and antibiotics. We anticipate that the use of Au NPs will increase in the future. We hope this study will serve as a guide for future researchers so that Au NPs can be applied more broadly and competently.

Abstract Background Group B Streptococcal (GBS) infection is the primary agent of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Rapid and simple methods to detect GBS are Xpert GBS and GBS LB assays based on real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). However, since the diagnostic accuracy of the two techniques in diagnosing GBS remains unclear, we designed this study to appraise the diagnostic accuracy of the aforementioned. Methods A systematic search of all literature published before July 16, 2020 was conducted using Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. The study quality was evaluated through Review Manager 5.3. Accordingly, data extracted in the included studies were analyzed using Meta-DiSc 1.4 and Stata 12.0 software. The diagnosis odds ratio (DOR) and bivariate boxplot were utilized to evaluate the heterogeneity. Publication bias was appraised by using Deeks’ funnel plot. Results A total of 13 studies were adopted and only 19 sets of data met the criteria. The sensitivity and specificity of Xpert GBS were 0.91 (95% CI 0.89–0.92) and 0.93 (95% CI 0.92–0.94). The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.9806. The sensitivity and specificity results of Xpert GBS LB were 0.96 (95% CI 0.95–0.98) and 0.94 (95% CI 0.92–0.95), respectively. The AUC was 0.9950. No publication bias was found. Conclusions The Xpert GBS and GBS LB assays are valuable alternative methods with high sensitivity and specificity. However, determining whether they can be used as clinical diagnostic standards for GBS is essential for the future.

Purpose Vancomycin-resistant enterococci infection is a worrying worldwide clinical problem. To evaluate the accuracy of GeneXpert vanA/vanB in the diagnosis of VRE, we conducted a systematic review in the study. Methods Experimental data were extracted from publications until May 03 2021 related to the diagnostic accuracy of GeneXpert vanA/vanB for VRE in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library. The accuracy of GeneXpert vanA/vanB for VRE was evaluated using summary receiver to operate characteristic curve, pooled sensitivity, pooled specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, and diagnostic odds ratio. Results 8 publications were divided into 3 groups according to two golden standard references, vanA and vanB group, vanA group, vanB group, including 6 researches, 5 researches and 5 researches, respectively. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of group vanA and vanB were 0.96 (95% CI, 0.93–0.98) and 0.90 (95% CI, 0.88–0.91) respectively. The DOR was 440.77 (95% CI, 37.92–5123.55). The pooled sensitivity and specificity of group vanA were 0.86 (95% CI, 0.81–0.90) and 0.99 (95% CI, 0.99–0.99) respectively, and those of group vanB were 0.85 (95% CI, 0.63–0.97) and 0.82 (95% CI, 0.80–0.83) respectively. Conclusion GeneXpert vanA/vanB can diagnose VRE with high-accuracy and shows greater accuracy in diagnosing vanA. Author summary Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), firstly identified in the mid-1980, is a type of antimicrobial resistance bacteria. In recent years, they were found more colonization in patients with critical diseases, showing new resistance to many antibacterial drugs, which is a worrisome clinical problem worldwide. Traditionally, VRE testing is performed mainly by culture which is a standard reference but requires complex steps and takes a long time. Currently, GeneXpert vanA/vanB were approved as a rapid and sensitive molecular assay for detecting VRE. However, the accuracy of GeneXpert vanA/vanB is without systematic-analyses in evidence-based medicine. Therefore, we conducted a data integration and analysis in this study. Finally, we draw a conclusion that GeneXpert vanA/vanB has a high accuracy diagnosing VRE in comparation with conventional culture and PCR. Furthermore, GeneXpert vanA/vanB shows more accuracy in diagnosing vanA. In addition, we suggest that an additional test is needed for further detecting vanB. This finding provides a promising direction for the diagnosis of VRE to a certain extent.

Three novel carbon skeleton alkaloids, named oleracimine (1), oleracimine A (2), and oleracone A (3), with one novel azulene carbon skeleton compound, oleracone B (4), and one known compound, β-carboline (5), were first isolated from Portulaca oleracea L. The structures were determined using spectroscopic methods, including one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance and high-resolution electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry techniques. In addition, oleracimine (1) was used to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects on lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophages. The results of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, western blot, and real-time polymerase chain reaction showed that oleracimine (1) remarkably inhibited nitric oxide production and could dose-dependently decrease the secretions of interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor α, nitric oxide, and prostaglandin E2 in cell culture supernatants as well as the mRNA of cyclooxygenase-2 and inducible nitric oxide synthase.
