Abstract

Intelligent agents stand out as a potential path toward artificial general intelligence (AGI). Thus, researchers have dedicated significant effort to diverse implementations for them. Benefiting from recent progress in large language models (LLMs), LLM-based agents that use universal natural language as an interface exhibit robust generalization capabilities across various applications -- from serving as autonomous general-purpose task assistants to applications in coding, social, and economic domains, LLM-based agents offer extensive exploration opportunities. This paper surveys current research to provide an in-depth overview of LLM-based intelligent agents within single-agent and multi-agent systems. It covers their definitions, research frameworks, and foundational components such as their composition, cognitive and planning methods, tool utilization, and responses to environmental feedback. We also delve into the mechanisms of deploying LLM-based agents in multi-agent systems, including multi-role collaboration, message passing, and strategies to alleviate communication issues between agents. The discussions also shed light on popular datasets and application scenarios. We conclude by envisioning prospects for LLM-based agents, considering the evolving landscape of AI and natural language processing.

Abstract

Modern society's reliance on power systems is at risk from the escalating effects of wind-related climate change. Yet, failure to identify the intricate relationship between wind-related climate risks and power systems could lead to serious short- and long-term issues, including partial or complete blackouts. Here, we develop a comprehensive framework to assess China's power system resilience across various climate change scenarios, enabling a holistic evaluation of the repercussions induced by wind-related climate change. Our findings indicate that China's current wind projects and planning strategies could be jeopardized by wind-related climate change, with up to a 12\% decline in regional wind power availability. Moreover, our results underscore a pronounced vulnerability of power system resilience amidst the rigors of hastened climate change, unveiling a potential amplification of resilience deterioration, even approaching fourfold by 2060 under the most severe scenario, relative to the 2020 benchmark. This work advocates for strategic financial deployment within the power sector aimed at climate adaptation, enhancing power system resilience to avert profound losses from long-term, wind-influenced climatic fluctuations., Comment: Not suitable for publication

Abstract

Most genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of major depression (MD) have been conducted in samples of European ancestry. Here we report a multi-ancestry GWAS of MD, adding data from 21 cohorts with 88,316 MD cases and 902,757 controls to previously reported data. This analysis used a range of measures to define MD and included samples of African (36% of effective sample size), East Asian (26%) and South Asian (6%) ancestry and Hispanic/Latin American participants (32%). The multi-ancestry GWAS identified 53 significantly associated novel loci. For loci from GWAS in European ancestry samples, fewer than expected were transferable to other ancestry groups. Fine mapping benefited from additional sample diversity. A transcriptome-wide association study identified 205 significantly associated novel genes. These findings suggest that, for MD, increasing ancestral and global diversity in genetic studies may be particularly important to ensure discovery of core genes and inform about transferability of findings.

10. Calculation method and evolution rule of the strain energy density of sandstone under true triaxial compression

Abstract

Abstract Deep rock masses are typically in complex stress states, and research on the evolution of their strain energy density is of highly important for understanding their failure characteristics. In this work, a true triaxial stress‒balanced unloading test is designed to analyze the u d and u e evolution of sandstone under true triaxial compression conditions. The study results indicate that as σ 1 increases, the elastic strain decreases in the σ 2 and σ 3 directions, whereas the residual strain progressively increases, and the magnitude of decrease in elastic strain exceeds the magnitude of increase in residual strain. Throughout the loading process of σ 1, u e progressively decreases in the σ 2 and σ 3 directions, whereas u d gradually increases, and the magnitude of decrease in u e surpasses the magnitude of increase in u d. The u d and u e of sandstone under different stress levels were calculated via true triaxial stress‒balanced unloading tests, and the evolution of u d and u e in the three principal stress directions and the overall strain energy density of sandstone followed a linear energy storage law. On the basis of this law and the true triaxial stress‒balanced unloading test, a new method for calculating the true triaxial u d and u e was proposed. A study on the σ 1 unloading stress path revealed that the σ 1 unloading stress path significantly affects the storage and dissipation of the strain energy density in the three principal stress directions of sandstone. On the basis of the research results, the criteria for determining rockbursts were discussed.

Abstract

Based on good algebraic structures and practicabilities, generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC) codes play important role in coding theory. In this paper, we study some results on GQC codes over $\mathbb{Z}_4$ including the normalized generating set, the minimum generating set and the normalized generating set of their dual codes. As an application, new $\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear codes and good nonlinear binary codes are constructed from GQC codes over $\mathbb{Z}_4$.

Abstract

Monoclonal antibody drugs that inhibit programmed death 1 (PD-1) or programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) have been widely used in esophageal cancer (EC) and yielded significant therapeutic responses. However, only a few patients obtain lasting clinical benefits due to primary or acquired drug resistance, and new treatment schemes are urgently needed. The tumor immune microenvironment is the main factor that affects patients' response to immunosuppressive agents. This article will discuss the role of immunosuppressive cells and non-cellular components in the immune process to provide ideas for the next research direction of EC.

Abstract

The analysis of transient voltage and current characteristics of DPFC （distributed power flow controller） under lightning strikes is an essential consideration in its design and operational management. Firstly， the structure and operational principles of DPFC are introduced， and simulation models are respectively constructed for two scenarios： a centralized arrangement of DPFC sub-modules in substations and a decentralized arrangement along transmission lines. Subsequently， the electromagnetic transient characteristics of DPFC are simulated and analyzed in the case of back strikes on the conductors and circling strikes on the transmission line， and the overvoltage and overcurrent levels at critical positions of DPFC during lightning strikes are thereby obtained. Finally， the differences in overvoltage and overcurrent between the centralized and decentralized arrangement of DPFC sub-modules are compared and analyzed in the case of back strikes and circling strikes. It is concluded that when lightning strikes the lightning conductor， the overvoltage to earth and the overvoltage at the submodule port of the centrally arranged DPFC are larger than the results of the decentralized arrangement； the overcurrents of the submodule of the centrally arranged DPFC and the arrester are smaller than the results of the decentralized arrangement.
