12. Bibliometric Analysis of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment from 2004 to 2023.

Abstract

Background: The global aging population necessitates specialized tools for complex geriatric health issues. Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) provides multidimensional evaluations of elderly, integrating inputs from various professionals to create individualized care plans. This study aims to visually assess the research trends and hotspots in the field of CGA, review mainstream perspectives in this field, and provide a foundation for future research and treatment. Methods: Original and review articles related to comprehensive geriatric assessment, published from 2004 to December 2023, were extracted from the Web of Science database. Four different software tools—CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Bibliometrix R package, and the Online Analysis Platform of Bibliometrics—were utilized for this comprehensive analysis. Results: According to our retrieval strategy, we found a total of 4,411 related literatures. There has been a substantial increase in the research on comprehensive geriatric assessment in the past 20 years. These publications have been cited 157,366 times, with a mean of 35.68 citations per publication. The largest number of publications were from the US, and Italy ranked second (14.98%). Keyword burst and concurrence showed that "randomized trial", "adjuvant chemotherapy" and "breast cancer" were the top 3 most frequently occurring keywords. Conclusion: Our bibliometric analysis reveals significant growth in CGA research over the past two decades, with a shift from cancer-focused studies to chronic conditions like frailty and sarcopenia. These findings highlight evolving priorities in geriatric care and underscore the need for future research to integrate technological advancements, such as AI, to enhance the precision, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of CGA in diverse settings. Abstract

Functional gradient materials (FGMs) possess gradient-varying properties, which make them important in applications for connecting different materials and inhomogeneous environments. Ferroelectric single crystals have multiple excellent physical properties, but it is difficult to design gradient properties during the crystal growth. Here, a method is reported to achieve gradient piezoelectric properties in the tetragonal Mn&Fe-doped KTa1−xNbxO3 (Mn&Fe: KTN) crystals by alternating current poling and internal strain design. Furthermore, opposite piezoelectric coefficients are obtained in the direction perpendicular to the applied electric field, with a gradient variation from −221 to 227 pC/N. This phenomenon has been revealed to result from the co-regulating effect of flexoelectric field and alternating current electric field on defect dipoles and domain structures. This study contributes to the fabrication of functional gradient piezoelectric single crystals and expands the application scenarios of FGMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Nonlinear optical process is a key technology to realize optical communication. Potassium tantalate niobate (KTa1−xNbxO3, KTN) crystals with large nonlinear optical coefficients are potential functional materials for realizing χ2 nonlinear optical processes. However, to accurately modulate the nonlinear optical signals of KTN crystals, the relationship between their second harmonic generation (SHG) properties and ferroelectric domain structures needs to be further investigated. Here, we report the special SHG processes generated by self-assembled structures in KTN crystals. Multimode quasi-phase matching and broadband nonlinear Bragg diffraction are achieved with the changing of polarizations and wavelengths of the fundamental wave. The physical processes behind the multi-polarization and multi-wavelength SHG properties of the KTN crystals are revealed. Our results about the multi-polarization and multi-wavelength SHG properties of KTN crystals will provide guidance for the design and realization of multimode nonlinear optical processes. Abstract

The macroscopic properties of piezoelectric materials can be profoundly influenced by stress. In this research, thermodynamic potential parameters of K0.4Na0.6NbO3 (KNN) single crystals have been experimentally quantified to assess the effects of stress. Leveraging the Landau thermodynamic potential theory, it has been identified that the application of biaxial tensile stress causes a significant elevation in both the piezoelectric property and phase transition temperature in KNN crystals. This transition remarkably extends their working range and improves the material's applicated potential. The coherence between these computational outcomes and experimental data—from the strategic growth of KNN single crystals with internal stress—underscores the reliability of our findings (dielectric constant from 213 to 1274, TO-T from 180 to 234 °C). Additionally, theoretical calculation predicts a potential enhancement in the piezoelectric capabilities of KNN single crystals. This study provides valuable insights for the growth of high-quality piezoelectric crystals and further promotes the application of lead-free piezoelectric materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

• A relationship between the spontaneous polarization and vibration mode in KTN crystals was established. • The evolution of KTN crystal lattice dynamics under stress was investigated. • The above conclusions drawn for KTN were generalized to other tetragonal ferroelectric perovskites. Perovskite ferroelectrics play an essential role in modern science and technology. The excellent properties of perovskites are closely related to their lattice dynamics. Potassium tantalate niobate (KTa 1- x Nb x O 3 , abbreviated as KTN) is a typical solid-solution perovskite with superior properties. Although the optical and electrical performances of KTN crystals have been widely explored, information on their lattice dynamics is still scarce, which partially limits the research and performance optimization of KTN. As a solid-solution, spontaneous polarization of KTN exhibits strong tunability, and there is stress within KTN. Here, we performed first-principles calculations in conjunction with experiments to investigate the polarization- and stress-related lattice dynamics in KTN. We assigned the vibration modes of observed Raman peaks, and established the relationship between spontaneous polarization and vibration. Especially, the lattice dynamics evolution of KTN crystal under stress was investigated. And the results provide insights into the regulatory effect of stress on dielectric property from the perspective of lattice dynamics. Finally, the variation trends of phonons under stress, as well as the mechanism of stress effect in tetragonal perovskites were explained. The conclusions drawn for KTN crystal were generalized to tetragonal ferroelectric systems. Our results help to reflect spontaneous polarization and structural characteristics distribution through non-destructive Raman spectra, and give a reference for improving performance by regulating lattice dynamics. Abstract

BackgroundThe visual outcome of open globe injury (OGI)-no light perception (NLP) eyes is unpredictable traditionally. This study aimed to develop a model to predict the visual outcomes of vitrectomy surgery in OGI-NLP eyes using a machine learning algorithm and to provide an interpretable system for the prediction results.MethodsClinical data of 459 OGI-NLP eyes were retrospectively collected from 19 medical centres across China to establish a training data set for developing a model, called ‘VisionGo’, which can predict the visual outcome of the patients involved and compare with the Ocular Trauma Score (OTS). Another 72 cases were retrospectively collected and used for human–machine comparison, and an additional 27 cases were prospectively collected for real-world validation of the model. The SHapley Additive exPlanations method was applied to analyse feature contribution to the model. An online platform was built for real-world application.ResultsThe area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of VisionGo was 0.75 and 0.90 in previtrectomy and intravitrectomy application scenarios, which was much higher than the OTS (AUC=0.49). VisionGo showed better performance than ophthalmologists in both previtrectomy and intravitrectomy application scenarios (AUC=0.73 vs 0.57 and 0.87 vs 0.64). In real-world validation, VisionGo achieved an AUC of 0.60 and 0.91 in previtrectomy and intravitrectomy application scenarios. Feature contribution analysis indicated that wound length-related indicators, vitreous status and retina-related indicators contributed highly to visual outcomes.ConclusionsVisionGo has achieved an accurate and reliable prediction in visual outcome after vitrectomy for OGI-NLP eyes.

41. Prevalence of myopia among children and adolescents aged 6–16 during COVID-19 pandemic: a large-scale cross-sectional study in Tianjin, China

Abstract

PurposeThis study aimed to determine the prevalence of myopia among children and adolescents aged 6–16 years during COVID-19 pandemic in Tianjin, China.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional study using data from the Tianjin Child and Adolescent Research of Eye between March and June in 2021. A total of 909 835 children and adolescents aged 6–16 years from 1348 primary and secondary schools in Tianjin, China were recruited. Prevalence of myopia with 95% CIs was described in different regions, sexes and ages. The regions-standardised prevalence rate and chain growth rate of myopia in different ages were described the characteristics of myopia.ResultsA total of 864 828 participants (95.05% participation rate) were included in the analysis. The age range was 6–16 with a mean age of 11.50±2.79 years. The overall prevalence of myopia was 54.71% (95% CI 54.60% to 54.81%). The prevalence of myopia was 57.58% (95% CI 57.43% to 57.73%) for girls and 52.05% (95% CI 51.91% to 52.20%) for boys. Students living in the six central districts had the highest prevalence of moderate myopia (19.09% (95% CI 19.01% to 19.17%)) and high myopia (5.43% (95% CI 5.39% to 5.48%)). The regions-standardised prevalence of myopia was increased by age and the highest chain growth rate of myopia was up to 47.99% at 8 years.ConclusionsThe prevalence of myopia in Tianjin is high during COVID-19 pandemic. The progression of myopia started to increase dramatically at 8 years, and the increasing slowed down at 14 years. For policy-makers, intervention in the lower age groups may be important to control myopia progression.
