Occupationally-induced back pain is a leading cause of reduced productivity in industry. Detecting when a worker is lifting incorrectly and at increased risk of back injury presents significant possible benefits. These include increased quality of life for the worker due to lower rates of back injury and fewer workers' compensation claims and missed time for the employer. However, recognizing lifting risk provides a challenge due to typically small datasets and subtle underlying features in accelerometer and gyroscope data. A novel method to classify a lifting dataset using a 2D convolutional neural network (CNN) and no manual feature extraction is proposed in this paper; the dataset consisted of 10 subjects lifting at various relative distances from the body with 720 total trials. The proposed deep CNN displayed greater accuracy (90.6%) compared to an alternative CNN and multilayer perceptron (MLP). A deep CNN could be adapted to classify many other activities that traditionally pose greater challenges in industrial environments due to their size and complexity.

In recent decades, there have been considerable technological developments in the agriculture sector to automate manual processes for many factors, including increased production demand and in response to labor shortages/costs. We conducted a review of the literature to summarize the key advances from installing emerging technology and studies on robotics and automation to improve agricultural practices. The main objective of this review was to survey the scientific literature to identify the uses of these new technologies in agricultural practices focusing on new or reduced occupational safety risks affecting agriculture workers. We screened 3248 articles with the following criteria: (1) relevance of the title and abstract with occupational safety and health; (2) agriculture technologies/applications that were available in the United States; (3) written in English; and (4) published 2015–2020. We found 624 articles on crops and harvesting and 80 articles on livestock farming related to robotics and automated systems. Within livestock farming, most (78%) articles identified were related to dairy farms, and 56% of the articles indicated these farms were using robotics routinely. However, our review revealed gaps in how the technology has been evaluated to show the benefits or potential hazards to the safety and well-being of livestock owners/operators and workers.

- Abstract
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of the LDH-to-albumin ratio (LAR) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving nivolumab monotherapy. We comprehensively analyzed the associations between LAR and clinical parameters, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) to identify reliable biomarkers for treatment selection. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 144 patients with metastatic NSCLC treated with nivolumab were included. Patient characteristics, including demographic data, smoking history, albumin, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, and LAR were recorded. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to determine the associations between these factors and PFS/OS. The LAR cut-off value was determined using receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis. RESULTS: The median overall survival was 14.2 months, and the median progression-free survival was 5.28 months. Univariate analysis showed that smoking, ECOG performance score, brain metastasis, PD-L1 level, nivolumab treatment line, albumin, hemoglobin, LDH levels, platelet count, monocyte count, lymphocyte count, and LAR were associated with PFS. In the multivariate analysis, only LAR remained significantly associated with PFS. For overall survival, smoking, ECOG performance score, albumin level, LDH level, platelet count, mono- cyte count, lymphocyte count, brain metastasis, LAR, nivolumab treatment line, and PD-L1 level were significant in the univariate analysis. Al-bumin level, ECOG performance score, and LAR were independently associated with overall sur-vival in the multivariate analysis. CONCLUSIONS: The LAR, reflecting tumor burden, tumor hypoxia, immune response, nutritional status, and systemic inflammation, emerged as a potential prognostic biomarker in NSCLC receiving nivolumab monotherapy. This study highlights the importance of considering multiple factors in treatment decisions and sup-ports the need for personalized approaches in NSCLC immunotherapy. Further research is needed to validate the utility of LAR as a predictive biomarker in this patient population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Problem statement; The main purpose of the study, "Usability of De-Essential Plant Pulp in Textile Printing in the Context of Sustainability", is to reveal the industrial use of natural dyes in the textile printing sector. During the preliminary evaluation process, it was seen that screen printing as a printing method has significant advantages for the industrial integration of natural dyes. Based on this, as a result of the applications and analyzes carried out with the experimental research method, it has been revealed that the use of natural dyes on an industrial scale will be possible by transferring the natural dye obtained from plant pulp with essential oil removed to the textile surface with the screen printing technique and ensuring sufficient fastness. In this study, it is aimed to present screen printing as an alternative to traditional fabric printing techniques, as well as to make positive contributions to sustainability by using natural dyes obtained from plant pulp. This increases the importance of the study. As a result, it has been observed that natural dyes obtained from plant pulp with essential oils removed can be transferred to the fabric by screen printing technique, and the pre-mordanting process and fixing in salt water increase the washing and rubbing fastness values. Apart from all these, three new emulsion-free printing techniques have been developed, independent of the emulsion printing technique applied as standard in screen printing technique

Objective: The aim of our study was to determine the psychometric evaluation of the Maternal Attitudes Questionnaire (MAQ) in the Turkish population by adapting it to Turkish. Methods: State and Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale (DAS), the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), and MAQ were used in data collection. The research sample comprised 359 women in the perinatal period. To evaluate test–retest reliability, MAQ was administered to 20 participants again after 4 weeks. Results: Four items with item–total–item correlations below 0.3 were removed from the questionnaire, and analysis was continued on 10 items. In the factor analysis, a two-factor structure was obtained, explaining 45.59% of the variance. The Cronbach α coefficient of the questionnaire in our sample was found as 0.664. For test–retest reliability, the Pearson correlation coefficient was found as 0.804 after a 4-week period. Maternal Attitudes Questionnaire correlated significantly with EPDS, STAI, and DAS. Conclusion: According to the results of our study, the Turkish version of the MAQ is a valid and reliable measurement tool in the perinatal period.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether primary tumor localization may be a risk factor for relapse and survival in seminomatous germ cell tumors (GCT) patients. Methods: In our study, 612 seminomatous GCT patients diagnosed in 22 centers between 01.01.1989 and 03.02.2019 were retrospectively evaluated. Patient interview information, patient files and electronic system data were used for the study. Results: The primary tumor was localized in the right testis in 305 (49.9%) patients and in 307 (50.1%) in the left testis. Mean age of the patients was 36 years (range 16-85±10.4). The median follow-up period was 47 months (1-298). Recurrence was observed in 78 (12.7%) patients and 29 (4.7%) died during the follow-up period. Four-year overall survival (OS) was 95.4% and 4-year progression-free survival (PFS) was 84.5%. The relationship between localization and relapse was significant in 197 patients with stage 2 and stage 3 (p=0.003). In this patient group, 41 (20.8%) relapses were observed. Thirty (73.2%) of the relapses were in the right testis and 11 (26.8%) in the left testis. Four-year OS was 92.1% in patients with right tumor; and 98.7% in patients with left tumor (p=0.007). When 612 patients were evaluated with a mean follow-up of 4 years, there was a 6.6% survival advantage in patients with left testicular tumor and this difference was significant (p=0.007). Conclusion: Survival rates of patients with primary right testicular localization were worse compared with left testicular localization, and relapse rates were higher in stage 2 and 3 patients with right testicular localization. © 2020 Zerbinis Publications. Science - Abstract
Abstract Classical novae are thermonuclear explosions in stellar binary systems, and important sources of 26Al and 22Na. While γ rays from the decay of the former radioisotope have been observed throughout the Galaxy, 22Na remains untraceable. Its half-life (2.6 yr) would allow the observation of its 1.275 MeV γ-ray line from a cosmic source. However, the prediction of such an observation requires good knowledge of its nucleosynthesis. The 22Na(p, γ)23Mg reaction remains the only source of large uncertainty about the amount of 22Na ejected. Its rate is dominated by a single resonance on the short-lived state at 7785.0(7) keV in 23Mg. Here, we propose a combined analysis of particle-particle correlations and velocity-difference profiles to measure femtosecond nuclear lifetimes. The application of this method to the study of the 23Mg states, places strong limits on the amount of 22Na produced in novae and constrains its detectability with future space-borne observatories.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy and adverse effect profiles of the first-line treatment of patients with KRAS wild type metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) in Turkey who were treated based on regimens including bevacizumab, cetuximab and panitumumab. Methods: This retrospective multicenter observational study involved a total of 238 patients who received chemotherapy in combination with either bevacizumab or cetuximab or panitumumab as first-line therapy for KRAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer. Patients with full medical records having pathological diagnosis of CRC adenocarcinoma were included in the study. The demographic, laboratory, histopathological and clinical characteristics of the patients were determined, and three groups were compared based on the study variables. Results: The mean age of the entire sample (n=238) was 58 +/- 11 years, 64% of which were male. The most frequent tumor localization was the rectum (37%) and G2 was the most common tumor grade (59.7%). About 63% of the patients had metastatic disease at diagnosis, with the most common site of metastasis being lung (14.7%) and liver (52.5%). Overall survival (OS) was 63.9%, while 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rates were 91.7, 56.6 and 36.9%, respectively. The expected mean survival was 49.1 months (95% CI, 42.9-55.3). The 1-, 3- and 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) rates following first-line treatment were 65.3, 26.1 and 5.6%, respectively, while disease free survival (DFS) in patients without metastasis at diagnosis was 68.5%. An analysis carried out disregarding which treatment the patients received (FOLFOX or FOLFIRI) revealed that a panitumumab-containing combination resulted in poorer prognosis compared to bevacizumab or cetuximab-containing combination (p

Results: The mean age of the entire sample (n=238) was 58±11 years, 64% of which were male.

The significance of the presence of a systemic inflammatory response (SIR) in predicting survival has been demonstrated in patients with cancer. Moreover, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyteratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been also investigated in patients with both early and advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, determination of SIR predicting outcomes of patients who are likely to response to crizotinib in ALK-positive NSCLC patients has not been clearly demonstrated.

Inflammation-Based Prognostic Scores ,Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase ,Non Small Cell Lung Cancer - Abstract
Background: Approximately 5% of all diagnosed non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harbor a genetic rearrangement between the ALK and EML4 genes, representing a specific molecular and clinical subgroup (ALK+ NSCLC). To date, upfront treatment with ALK-tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (ALK-TKIs) has replaced chemotherapy in the first line setting for this subset of patients with excellent results, but reliable prognostic markers are lacking. An increased systemic inflammatory response has been shown to be associated with a poor prognosis, and some of the parameters used to characterize this response can easily be measured in clinical practice in several tumor types, but have not been analyzed extensively in ALK+ lung cancer in the era of crizotinib. Method: We reviewed the medical records of all patients with previously treated advanced ALK-positive NSCLC who received crizotinib between January 2013 and March 2018 outside of a clinical trial. Pre-treatment modified Glasgow prognostic score (mGPS), Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) and Systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) were calculated. Multivariable logistic regression and Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess the impact of pretreatment mGPS, PNI and SII on overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall response rate (ORR). Result: 82 patients were treated. Median age was 52.5 years (range; 20e77 years); 42.7% were female. Eighty-four point two percent of patients had an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status (ECOG PS) 1; 17.1% had received 2 prior systemic therapies. The objective response rate was 77.2% (CR+PR). The optimal cutoff levels were 0.09 for mGPS and PNI, 934.7 for SII by ROC curves analysis. Patients in the SII 934.7 grous was significantly correlated with worse PFS and OS by univariate analysis (Figure 1). In multivariate analyses, pretreatment prognostic nutritional index (PNI) 0.09 was independently associated with inferior OS (1 year OS rates, 90.2% vs. 73.7%; HR 2.46, 95% CI 0.88- 4.85; p ¼ 0.035). Additionally, we evaluated the effects of these markers on response prediction. The logistic regression analysis of the predictive factors for the response to crizotinib demonstrated that the mGPS and PNI were associated with inferior ORR (OR: 0.1, 95% CI 0.16-1.04; p ¼ 0.009 and OR: 0.16, 95% CI 0.02-0.55; p ¼ 0.035, respectively). Conclusion: In a cohort of patients with ALK positive NSCLC treated with crizotinib in routine practice, elevated pre-treatment SII was associated with shorter OS and PFS in univariate analysis and PNI was associated with shorter OS in multivariate analyses. Moreover the mGPS and PNI were associated with lower response rates.

Solid pseudopapillary Neoplasm ,Pancreatic Tumor ,Survival ,Treatment - Abstract
Purpose: Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm (SPN) is a rare, low-grade neoplasm with excellent prognosis. In this study, we evaluated clinicopathological characteristics of patients diagnosed with SPN retrospectively. Methods: This is a retrospective study intended to characterize patients with the diagnosis of SPN between 2005 and 2015. Clinicopathological features, recurrence rate, and overall survival of 28 patients were recorded. Malignant SPN criteria were defined as the presence of distant metastasis (developed at diagnosis or during follow up) or lymph node involvement. Results: The mean age at diagnosis was 42 (range: 17-41). Among patients, 82% (n = 23) were female and 17.9% (n = 5) were male. The mean size of tumor was 5.81 cm (range: 2-15). The mean follow up period was 55.6 months, 1-year survival was 96.5% and 5-year survival rate was 88%. A total of 25 patients were alive at the end of follow-up period and 3 of the patients became exitus due to disease. Two patients had a metastatic presentation in livers at the diagnosis and metastasis developed in 3 patients during follow-up (liver of 1 patient, peritoneum in 1 patient and liver and peritoneum in 1 patient). The reason of admission was headache in 68% patients. The type of operation was frequently subtotal pancreatectomy (n = 11, 39.3%) and distal pancreatectomy (n = 10, 35.7%). Tumors were located frequently in body and tail regions (n = 18, 64.3%) and the number of patients with malignant criteria was 6 (21.4%). Although the mean age of malignant patients was significantly higher than benign patients (P = 0.046), there was no significant difference between 2 groups in terms of gender, tumor size, capsule invasion, perineural invasion, vascular invasion, and margin status. Conclusion: SPN is a rarely seen tumor with low malignity potential. Surgical resection provides long-term survival rate even in local invasion or metastasis conditions.

WOS: 000376904300006, PubMed ID: 27097941, OBJECTIVE: Prostate cancer is among the most common cancers in males. Prostate cancer is androgen dependent in the beginning, but as time progresses, it becomes refractory to androgen deprivation treatment. At this stage, docetaxel has been used as standard treatment for years. Cabazitaxel has become the first chemotherapeutic agent which has been shown to increase survival for patients with metastatic Castrate Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC) that progresses after docetaxel. Phase 3 TROPIC study demonstrated that cabazitaxel prolongs survival. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this study, we evaluated a total of 103 patients who took cabazitaxel chemotherapy for mCRPC diagnosis in 21 centers of Turkey, retrospectively. This study included patients who progressed despite docetaxel treatments, had ECOG performance score between 0-2, and used cabazitaxel treatment. Patients received cabazitaxel 25 mg/m(2) at every 3 weeks, and prednisolone 5 mg twice a day. RESULTS: Median number of cabazitaxel cures was 5.03 (range: 1-17). Cabazitaxel response evaluation detected that 34% of the patients had a partial response, 22.3% had stable disease and 32% had a progressive disease. Grade 3-4 hematological toxicities were neutropenia (28.2%), neutropenic fever (14.5%), anemia (6.7%), and thrombocytopenia (3.8%). In our study, median progression-free survival (PFS) was 7.7 months and overall survival (OS) was 10.6 months. CONCLUSIONS: This study reflects toxicity profile of Turkish patients as a Caucasian race. We suggest that cabazitaxel is a safe and effective treatment option for mCRPC patients who progress after docetaxel. Moreover, ethnicity may play important roles both in treatment response and in toxicity profile.

Introduction: In this multicenter study, we analysed the magnitude of healthcare worker (HCW) [infection control practitioner (ICP), nurses and others] workforce in hospitals participated in the study. Materials and Methods: This study was performed in 41 hospitals (with intensive care units-ICU) located in 22 cities from seven regions of Turkey. We analysed the ICP workforce, nursing and auxiliary HCW (AHCW) workforce in ICUs, number of ICU beds and occupied beds in four different days [two of which were in summer during the vacation time (August 27 and 31, 2016) and two others in autumn (October 12 and 15, 2016)]. The Turkish Ministry of Health (TMOH) requires two patients per nurse in level 3 ICUs, three patients per nurse in level 2 ICUs and five patients per nurse in level 1 ICUs. There is no standardization for the number of AHCW in ICUs. Finally, one ICP per 150 hospital beds is required by TMOH. Results: The total number of ICUs, ICU beds and ICPs were 214, 2377 and 111, respectively in he 41 participated centers. The number ICPs was adequate only in 12 hospitals. The percentage of nurses whose working experience was 2. The number of patients per other HCW was minimum 3.75 and maximum 4.89 on weekdays and on day shift while it was minimum 5.02 and maximum 7.7 on weekends or on night shift. When we compared the number of level 1, 2 and 3 ICUs with adequate nursing workforce vs inadequate nursing workforce, the p value was

Central nervous system (CNS) metastasis is a rare event in the course of late stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC); however its incidence is increasing in parallel with prolonged survival of patients. Objective: The authors assessed the clinical parameters and potential prognostic features in patients with CNS metastatic disease. Materials and Methods: Clinical data of the 33 patients from the participating centers were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Median age at the time of CNS metastasis was 57 years. Median time from the diagnosis of primary EOC until CNS metastatic disease was 22 months. Nearly half (45.5%) of the patients had single CNS metastatic lesions and all patients in the study group except two received radiotherapy as palliative treatment. Median overall survival (OS) from the time of CNS metastasis was 15 months (0-66). At univariate analysis only number of brain metastatic lesions (p = 0.001) and presence of extracranial disease (p = 0.004) were strongly associated with OS whereas multimodal treatment, size of metastatic lesions, platinum sensitivity, age, grade, and disease stage at presentation were not. Development of CNS metastasis carries a poor prognosis, however patients with single metastatic lesions and only intracranial metastatic disease can have prolonged survival after appropriate palliative management of their disease.

Median time from the diagnosis of primiuy EOC until CNS metastatic disease was 22 months.

Most data on prognostic factors for patients with high-grade undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (HGUPS) is obtained from analyses of soft tissue sarcomas. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathologic features and their impact on outcomes specifically in patients diagnosed with HGUPS. In this multicenter trial, we retrospectively analyzed 112 patients who were diagnosed and treated at 12 different institutions in Turkey. We collected data concerning the patients, tumor characteristics, and treatment modalities. There were 69 males (61.6 %) and 43 females (38.4 %). Median age was 56 years (19-90). The most common anatomic site of tumor origin was the upper extremity. Pleomorphic variant was the predominant histological subtype. Median tumor size was 8.2 cm (0.6-30 cm). Tumors were mainly deeply seated (57.1 %). Fifty-seven patients (50.9 %) were stage II and the remainder were stage III at the time of diagnosis. Median follow-up was 30 months (2-160). The primary site of distant metastasis was the lung (73.5 %) and the second most common site was the liver (11.7 %). The 5-year overall survival, distant metastasis-free survival, and local recurrence-free survival rates were 56.3, 53.4, and 67.2 %, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance score of II (p = 0.033), deep tumor location (p = 0.000), and development of distant metastasis (p = 0.004) were negatively correlated with overall survival, and perioperative radiotherapy and negative microscopic margins were significant factors for local control rates (p = 0.000 for each). Deep tumor location (p = 0.003) was the only adverse factor related to distant metastasis-free survival. Deep tumor location, ECOG performance score of II, and development of distant metastasis carry a poor prognostic implication on overall survival. These will aid clinicians in predicting survival and treatment decision.

Prostate cancer ,Cabazitaxel ,Chemotherapy ,Toxicities ,urologic and male genital diseases - Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Prostate cancer is among the most common cancers in males.

The aim of this study is to analyze and compare the documentation processes of students with low and high mathematical literacy levels. To this aim, a qualitative research design was adopted. Participants in this case study consisted of two students studying at the 9th grade who were selected through the criterion sampling method considering the mathematical literacy levels (low and high). The participants were asked to draw and explain a schematic representation of the resource system that they employed in their mathematics learning process. They also completed 30-day mathematics learning diaries, which required them to explain the activities they did and the resources they used. Interviews were scheduled as the secondary data collection tool. Both content analysis and descriptive analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result, differences in resource usage schemes were found in the mathematics learning processes of two the participants. Compare to the student with low mathematical literacy, the objective of the action component of the utilization scheme for the student with high mathematical literacy was determined to be to associate mathematical knowledge with daily-life.

Colorectal cancer ,Brain metastasis ,Prognosis - Abstract
Brain metastasis in colorectal cancer is highly rare. In the present study, we aimed to determine the frequency of brain metastasis in colorectal cancer patients and to establish prognostic characteristics of colorectal cancer patients with brain metastasis. In this cross-sectional study, the medical files of colorectal cancer patients with brain metastases who were definitely diagnosed by histopathologically were retrospectively reviewed. Brain metastasis was detected in 2.7 % (n = 133) of 4,864 colorectal cancer patients. The majority of cases were male (53 %), older than 65 years (59 %), with rectum cancer (56 %), a poorly differentiated tumor (70 %); had adenocarcinoma histology (97 %), and metachronous metastasis (86 %); received chemotherapy at least once for metastatic disease before brain metastasis developed (72 %), had progression with lung metastasis before (51 %), and 26 % (n = 31) of patients with extracranial disease at time the diagnosis of brain metastasis had both lung and bone metastases. The mean follow-up duration was 51 months (range 5-92), and the mean survival was 25.8 months (95 % CI 20.4-29.3). Overall survival rates were 81 % in the first year, 42.3 % in the third year, and 15.7 % in the fifth year. In multiple variable analysis, the most important independent risk factor for overall survival was determined as the presence of lung metastasis (HR 1.43, 95 % CI 1.27-4.14; P = 0.012). Brain metastasis develops late in the period of colorectal cancer and prognosis in these patients is poor. However, early screening of brain metastases in patients with lung metastasis may improve survival outcomes with new treatment modalities.
