Os dados acerca do sobrepeso/obesidade na população brasileira demonstram um crescimento na sua prevalência entre as décadas de 70 e 90. Os dois aspectos mais apresentados como relacionados a este quadro têm sido mudanças no consumo alimentar, com aumento do fornecimento de energia pela dieta e redução da atividade física, configurando um "estilo de vida ocidental contemporâneo". Este artigo tem por objetivo identificar e avaliar alguns indicadores que se correlacionam com mudanças nas práticas alimentares e de atividade física na população brasileira nos últimos trinta anos. Apesar da carência de dados detalhados, os fatores que podem estar contribuindo para o quadro em tela incluem: migração interna; alimentação fora de casa; crescimento na oferta de refeições rápidas; mudanças no trabalho; meios de deslocamento; e equipamentos domésticos. Faltam informações mais detalhadas sobre as práticas alimentares e o padrão de atividade física no Brasil, em associação a dados antropométricos, para uma melhor explicação dessa relação. Há necessidade de projetos e programas intersetoriais que tenham metas bem definidas e que garantam a adesão da população a um estilo de vida saudável na perspectiva do controle do crescimento da prevalência do sobrepeso/obesidade no país.

3. Molecular differentiation of Angiostrongylus costaricensis, A. cantonensis, and A. vasorum by polymerase chain reaction- restriction fragment length polymorphism

Angiostrongylus cantonensis, A. costaricensis, and A. vasorum are etiologic agents of human parasitic diseases. Their identification, at present, is only possible by examining the adult worm after a 40-day period following infection of vertebrate hosts with the third-stage larvae. In order to obtain a diagnostic tool to differentiate larvae and adult worm from the three referred species, polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism was carried out. The rDNA second internal transcribed spacer (ITS2) and mtDNA cytochrome oxidase I regions were amplified, followed by digestion of fragments with the restriction enzymes RsaI, HapII, AluI, HaeIII, DdeI and ClaI. The enzymes RsaI and ClaI exhibited the most discriminating profiles for the differentiation of the regions COI of mtDNA and ITS2 of rDNA respectively. The methodology using such regions proved to be efficient for the specific differentiation of the three species of Angiostrongylus under study.

Angiostrongylus costaricensis intermediate hosts are terrestrial mollusks mostly belonging to the Veronicellidae family. In the present investigation we focused on the mechanisms of larval expulsion from Sarasinula marginata infected with A. costaricensis. Twenty-five mollusks were individually infected with 5000 L1 and sacrificed at 30 min and 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 h post-infection and at days 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, and 30 post-infection; the mollusks were then fixed and stained. Diverse organs involved throughout the course of the migratory routes of larvae from oral penetration on were specified and the mechanisms of larval access to the fibromuscular layer through the kidney, rectum, and vascular system were defined. The elimination of L3, derived from oral and/or cutaneous infections, appears to depend on granulomas located close to the excretory ducts of mucous cells.

The quest for novel organic fluorescent materials capable of two-photon absorption (2PA) has intensified in recent years due to their promising applications in biological imaging. Two-photon fluorescence microscopy (2PFM) offers high spatial-temporal resolution, reduced photodamage, and deeper tissue penetration compared to conventional techniques. However, the development of bright two-photon molecular markers remains a challenge, necessitating compounds with high fluorescence quantum yield and 2PA cross-section ( σ
2PA ). Strategies such as increasing π-conjugation have shown promise but are hindered by synthesis complexities and limited biocompatibility. Alternatively, incorporating electron-donating (ED) or electron-withdrawing (EW) peripheral groups in a main structure has emerged as a viable approach, leading to significant enhancements in σ2PA . This study highlights the advantages and challenges of these strategies, emphasizing the importance of exploring new organic compounds and evaluating the efficacy of peripheral groups for advanced two-photon bioimaging applications.- Published

7. Nonlinear Refraction and Absorption in Polymers Used for Femtosecond Direct Laser Writing.

- Abstract
Direct laser writing (DLW) has been recognized as a unique technique for three-dimensional (3D) prototyping with resolution beyond the diffraction limit. One trend in DLW technologies is the use of polymers, given their favorable mechanical properties and optical quality, rendering them promising for the next generation of nonlinear photonic devices. However, absorptive properties that facilitate DLW processes may also hinder the performance of polymers as all-optical devices. Furthermore, the increasing use of ultrashort pulse lasers makes refractive index dispersion a factor of fundamental importance in studying candidate materials for broadband applications. Here, we study the suitability of resins commonly used in DLW for all-optical broadband applications. We provide linear and nonlinear refractive and absorptive spectra of acrylate-based resins with different compositions, and IP-S and IP-Dip from Nanoscribe. We found nonlinear refractive indices four times higher than reported values for fused silica, one of the most widely used photonic materials, and we evaluate the potential of these materials using group velocity dispersion and figures of merits as comparative metrics., Competing Interests: The authors declare no competing financial interest., (© 2024 The Authors. 8. Forest edge landscape context affects mosquito community composition and risk of pathogen emergence.

Forest edges, where humans, mosquitoes, and wildlife interact, may serve as a nexus for zoonotic arbovirus exchange. Although often treated as uniform interfaces, the landscape context of edge habitats can greatly impact ecological interactions. Here, we investigated how the landscape context of forest edges shapes mosquito community structure in an Amazon rainforest reserve near the city of Manaus, Brazil, using hand-nets to sample mosquitoes at three distinct forest edge types. Sampling sites were situated at edges bordering urban land cover, rural land cover, and natural treefall gaps, while sites in continuous forest served as controls. Community composition differed substantially among edge types, with rural edges supporting the highest species diversity. Rural edges also provided suitable habitat for forest specialists, including key sylvatic vectors, of which Haemagogus janthinomys was the most abundant species sampled overall. 9. Prevalence and factors associated with the perpetration and victimization of teen dating violence: A systematic review and meta-analysis protocol.

Dating violence is a global health problem that affects adolescents physically, psychologically and sexually. During adolescence, there is a high prevalence and negative consequences in both perpetration and victimization, which can vary according to culture, but maintain common characteristics in traditional societies. Factors associated with the perpetration and victimization of gender-based violence among adolescents include gender inequality, discrimination, substance use, parental neglect, peer influence and exposure to family violence. Despite modern criticisms of gender expectations, traditional views that legitimize violence persist. In this sense, the collection of global data on the prevalence and factors associated with dating violence among adolescents could favour comparative studies between Western and Eastern cultures and is fundamental for informing public policies in a globalized world. It is hoped that the results will contribute to expanding scientific knowledge in the area, as well as helping managers and the academic community to target resources, identify risk groups and promote gender equality from adolescence onwards. In this sense, this study aims to globally assess the prevalence and factors associated with the perpetration and victimization of dating violence among adolescents. 10. Studying the first order hyperpolarizability spectra in chalcone-based derivatives and the relation with one- and two-photon absorption transitions.

- Abstract
The first-order molecular hyperpolarizability (β) dispersion was measured in seven chalcone-based molecules utilizing the tunable femtosecond hyper-Rayleigh scattering (tHRS) technique. Additionally, a theoretical model based on photophysical parameters was employed to better understand β dispersion. Due to the distinct substitution patterns of the aryl/heteroaryl rings within the chalcone structure, varying profiles of one- and two-photon absorption spectra and β dispersion were observed. The applied model highlighted two important factors contributing to achieving high β values: (i) the presence of red-shifted one-photon and two-photon absorption bands; and (ii) the number of discernible absorption bands. To contextualize these results with other molecular structures, we employed the HRS figure of merit (FOM). Remarkably, it was revealed that chemically engineered small chalcone molecules exhibit a FOM comparable to larger quadrupolar and octupolar ones. This underscores the significance of tHRS scattering measurements and their correlation with absorptive parameters in the design and characterization of nonlinear optical materials., (© 2023 Author(s). 11. Prognostic Impact of AGR3 Protein Expression in Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Objective: To investigate the clinicopathological significance and prognosis of the expression of the anterior gradient 3 (AGR3) protein in women with breast cancer., Data Sources: The PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies published in English and without restrictions regarding the year of publication. The search terms were: breast cancer AND anterior gradient 3 OR AGR3 expression ., Study Selection: We included observational or interventional studies, studies on AGR3 protein expression by immunohistochemistry, and studies on invasive breast cancer. Case reports, studies with animals, and reviews were excluded. In total, 4 studies were included, containing 713 cases of breast cancer., Data Collection: Data were extracted on clinicopathological characteristics and survival. A meta-analysis of the prevalence of AGR3 expression was performed according to the clinicopathological characteristics, hazard ratios (HRs), and overall survival and disease-free survival., Data Synthesis: The expression of AGR3 was found in 62% of the cases, and it was associated with histological grade II, positivity of estrogen and progesterone receptors, low expression of ki67, recurrence or distant metastasis, and lumen subtypes. In patients with low and intermediate histological grades, AGR3 expression was associated with worse overall survival (HR: 2.39; 95% confidence interval [95%CI]: 0.628-4.159; p = 0.008) and worse disease-free survival (HR: 3.856; 95%CI: 1.026-6.686; p = 0.008)., Conclusion: The AGR3 protein may be a biomarker for the early detection of breast cancer and predict prognosis in luminal subtypes. 12. Integrating Fluorescent Nanodiamonds into Polymeric Microstructures Fabricated by Two-Photon Polymerization.

- Abstract
Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) and other color centers in diamond have attracted much attention as non-photobleaching quantum emitters and quantum sensors. Since microfabrication in bulk diamonds is technically difficult, embedding nanodiamonds with color centers into designed structures is a way to integrate these quantum emitters into photonic devices. In this study, we demonstrate a method to incorporate fluorescent nanodiamonds into engineered microstructures using two-photon polymerization (2PP). We studied the optimal concentration of nanodiamonds in the photoresist to achieve structures with at least one fluorescent NV center and good structural and optical quality. Fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy measurements were used to confirm the presence and location of the nanodiamonds, while absorbance measurements assessed scattering losses at higher concentrations. Our results show the feasibility of fabricating microstructures embedded within fluorescent nanodiamonds via 2PP for photonics and quantum technology applications.

- Abstract
In our previous studies, Chlorin-e6 (Ce6) demonstrated a significant reduction of microorganisms' viability against multi-species biofilm related to periodontitis while irradiated with blue light. However, the conjugation of Ce6 and antimicrobial peptides, and the incorporation of this photosensitizer in a nanocarrier, is still poorly explored. We hypothesized that chlorin-e6 conjugated to the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 loaded nanoemulsion could inhibit a multi-species biofilm related to periodontitis during photodynamic therapy (PDT), the pre-treatment with hydrogen peroxide was also tested. The nanoemulsion (NE) incorporated with Ce6 was characterized regarding the physiochemical parameters. Images were obtained by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Later, the Ce6 and LL-37 incorporated in NE was submitted to UV-Vis analysis and Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) assay. Finally, the combined formulation (Ce6+LL-37 in nanoemulsion) was tested against multi-species biofilm related to periodontitis. The formed nanoformulation was kinetically stable, optically transparent with a relatively small droplet diameter (134.2 unloaded and 146.9 loaded), and weak light scattering. The NE system did not impact the standard UV-VIS spectra of Ce6, and the ROS production was improved while Ce6 was incorporated in the NE. The combination of Ce6 and LL-37 in NE was effective to reduce the viability of all bacteria tested. The treatment with hydrogen peroxide previous to PDT significantly impacted bacterial viability. The current aPDT regimen was the best already tested against periodontal biofilm by our research team. 14. Indicators of Eating Disorders in Sexually Abused Brazilian Adolescents: Family and School Contexts.

Eating disorders, characterized by abnormal eating behaviors, are among a wide variety of psychiatric conditions that mainly affect children and adolescents. These disorders have a multifactorial origin and can be associated with restrictive diets, negative feelings, harmful family relationships, and post-traumatic stress. Thus, this study's objective was to evaluate the association between indicators of eating disorders and family and school contexts in Brazilian adolescents who previously experienced sexual abuse and examine the findings based on sex. National School Health Survey data were utilized. Among 102,301 students between 11 and 19 years of age, 4124 reported having experienced sexual abuse and were included in this study. Self-report questionnaires were used to assess participants' health status and the presence of risk behaviors, which were examined through multivariate analysis using a Poisson regression model. The results indicated positive relationships between self-induced vomiting, laxative misuse, and other purgative methods and infrequent meals with family, hunger, and the presence of violence in students' daily lives, regardless of sex ( p < 0.05). In addition, body dissatisfaction and negative feelings about one's body were associated with having been bullied or teased by schoolmates for both sexes ( p < 0.05). Distant relationships with parents were associated with purgative methods and body dissatisfaction among female students ( p < 0.05). In conclusion, body dissatisfaction, negative feelings about one's body, laxative misuse, self-induced vomiting, and purgative methods were found to be associated with factors in family and school contexts such as hunger, infrequent meals with family, family violence, distant relationships with parents, and bullying at school in adolescents who have previously experienced sexual abuse.

15. Observation of the two-photon transition enhanced first hyperpolarizability spectra in cinnamaldehyde derivatives: A femtosecond regime study.

The application of nonlinear optical effects in optoelectronic devices is still scarce because the irradiance threshold necessary to induce a specific effect is very high. In this context, knowing the frequency-resolved first order molecular hyperpolarizability (β) is essential to identifying regions where this response is intense enough to allow for applications in commercial devices. Thus, herein, we have determined the β spectral dependence of five new push-pull cinnamylidene acetophenone derivatives using femtosecond laser-induced Hyper-Rayleigh Scattering (HRS). A considerable increase in β values was observed in molecules. We found remarkable β values in regions near the two-photon resonance, which are mediated by electron withdrawing and donating groups. This effect was mapped using wavelength-tunable femtosecond Z-scan technique. Furthermore, it was modeled in light of the sum-over-states approach for the second- and third-order nonlinearities. This work aimed to assess the influence of different structured substrates with hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties on micro and nano topographies developed on titanium alloys over pre-osteoblastic cell behavior. Nano topography influences small dimension levels of cell morphology by inducing filopodia formation in cell membranes, irrespectively to the wettability behavior of the surface. Therefore, micro and nanostructured surfaces of titanium-based samples using different techniques of surface modification processing, such as chemical treatments, micro-arc anodic oxidation (MAO), and MAO combined to laser irradiation were developed. Isotropic and anisotropic texture morphologies, wettability, topological parameters and compositional alterations were measured after the surface treatments. Finally, cell viability, adhesion and morphological responses were assessed to investigate the influence of distinct topologies on osteoblastic cells aiming to encounter the conditions to better promote mineralization events. Our study demonstrated that the hydrophilic behavior improves cell adhesion, amplified when effective surface area increases. Surfaces presenting nano topography have a direct influence on cell morphology and play a key role for filopodia formation., (© 2023 IOP Publishing Ltd.)

17. Where boundaries become bridges: Mosquito community composition, key vectors, and environmental associations at forest edges in the central Brazilian Amazon.

Risk of spillover and spillback of mosquito-borne viruses in the neotropics, including yellow fever, dengue, Zika (Flaviviridae: Flavivirus), chikungunya, and Mayaro (Togaviridae: Alphavirus) viruses, is highest at ecotones where humans, monkeys, and mosquitoes coexist. With a view to identifying potential bridge vectors, we investigated changes in mosquito community composition and environmental variables at ground level at distances of 0, 500, 1000, and 2000 m from the edge of a rainforest reserve bordering the city of Manaus in the central Brazilian Amazon. During two rainy seasons in 2019 and 2020, we sampled 9,467 mosquitoes at 244 unique sites using BG-Sentinel traps, hand-nets, and Prokopack aspirators. Species richness and diversity were generally higher at 0 m and 500 m than at 1000 m and 2000 m, while mosquito community composition changed considerably between the forest edge and 500 m before stabilizing by 1000 m. Shifts in environmental variables mainly occurred between the edge and 500 m, and the occurrence of key taxa (Aedes albopictus, Ae. scapularis, Limatus durhamii, Psorophora amazonica, Haemagogus, and Sabethes) was associated with one or more of these variables. Sites where Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus were detected had significantly higher surrounding mean NDBI (Normalized Difference Built-up Index) values than sites where they were not detected, while the opposite was true for Sabethes mosquitoes. Our findings suggest that major changes in mosquito communities and environmental variables occur within 500 m of the forest edge, where there is high risk for contact with both urban and sylvatic vectors. By 1000 m, conditions stabilize, species diversity decreases, and forest mosquitoes predominate. 18. Relationship between depression and quality of life among students: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The objectives of this systematic review were to estimate the prevalence of depression and to identify the relationship between depression and quality of life (QOL) among high school and university students. Literature search was performed in the Scopus, Embase, PubMed, Scielo, CINAHL and Web of Science databases, following the PRISMA methodology. The results were presented through descriptive approaches and meta-analysis. Thirty-six studies met the eligibility criteria, and twenty-six were included in the meta-analysis. The prevalence of depressive symptoms was 27% (95% CI 0.21-0.33) among students, being high school and university students was 25% (95% CI 0.14-0.37) and 27% (95% CI 0.20-0.34), respectively, and most studies have shown that depression was associated with low QOL. Among the limitations of the study is the difficulty of generalizing the results found, considering the large sample of health students. New studies should be conducted considering the severity, duration, and patterns of depressive symptoms in high school and university students, to better understand the relationship between depression and QOL., (© 2023. 19. Prevalence and Risk Factors of Musculoskeletal Disorders in Basketball Players: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

- Abstract
Musculoskeletal disorders characteristically induce pain and limitations in mobility, ability, and overall functioning. In athletes, including basketball players, disorders such as back pain, postural changes, and spinal injuries are common. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the prevalence of back pain and musculoskeletal disorders in basketball players and ascertain the associated factors. Methods: The Embase, PubMed, and Scopus databases were searched for studies published in English without a time limit. Using STATA, meta-analyses were performed to estimate the prevalence of pain and musculoskeletal disorders of the back and spine. Results: Of the 4135 articles identified, 33 studies were included in this review, with 27 studies included in the meta-analysis. Of these, 21 were used for the meta-analysis of back pain, 6 articles were used for the meta-analysis of spinal injury, and 2 studies were used for the meta-analysis of postural changes. The overall prevalence of back pain was 43% [95% CI, -1% to 88%]; of these, the prevalence of neck pain was 36% [95% CI, 22-50%], the prevalence of back pain was 16% [95% CI, 4-28%], the prevalence of low back pain was 26% [95% CI, 16-37%], the prevalence of thoracic spine pain was 6% [95% CI, 3-9%]. The combined prevalence of spinal injury and spondylolysis was 10% [95% CI, 4-15%], with a prevalence of spondylolysis of 14% [95% CI, 0.1-27%]. The combined prevalence of hyperkyphosis and hyperlordosis was 30% [95% CI, 9-51%]. In conclusion, we found a high prevalence of neck pain, followed by low back pain and back pain, in basketball players. Thus, prevention programs are important to improve health and sports performance.

20. Unveiling the molecular structure and two-photon absorption properties relationship of branched oligofluorenes.

Organic molecules have been intensively studied during the last few decades because of their photonics and biological applications. In this material class, the fluorene molecules present outstanding optical features, for example, high values of two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-sections, visible transparency, and high fluorescence quantum yield. Also, it is possible to improve the nonlinear optical response by modifying the fluorene molecular structure. In this context, herein, we have synthesized V and Y-shaped branching oligofluorenes containing two and three fluorene moieties in each branch. Such a molecular strategy may exponentially enhance the nonlinear optical response due to the coherent coupling among the molecular arms. Thus, we combined the use of femtosecond Z-scan spectroscopy and white light transient absorption spectroscopy (TAS) to understand the molecular structure and 2PA property relationship of branching oligofluorenes. The results show that there is a universal relationship between the 2PA cross-section and the effective π-electron number ( N
eff ) given by σ2PA (GM) = (079 ± 0.03) Neff 2 , which is independent of the molecular shape (linear, V or Y-shaped). Therefore, the intramolecular charge transfer responsible for the cooperative effect among the branches does not occur. Microgrooved surfaces are recognized as an important strategy of tissue engineering to promote the alignment of bone cells. In this work, we have investigated the mechanical and morphological aspects of osteoblasts cells after interaction with different micro-structured polymeric surfaces. Femtosecond laser writing technique was used for the construction of circular and parallel microgrooved patterns in biocompatible polymeric surfaces based on pentaerythritol triacrylate. Additionally, we have studied the influence of the biocompatible TiO
2 nanocrystals (NCs) related to the cell behavior, when incorporated to the photoresin. The atomic force microscopy technique was used to investigate the biomechanical reaction of the human osteoblast-like MG-63 cells for the different microgroove. It was demonstrated that osteoblasts grown on circular microgrooved surfaces exhibited significantly larger Young's modulus compared to cells sown on flat films. Furthermore, we could observe that TiO2 NCs improved the circular microgrooves effects, resulting in more populated sites, 34% more elongated cells, and increasing the cell stiffness by almost 160%. 22. Size-dependent photoinduced transparency in colloidal CdTe quantum dots in the strong confinement regime: an inverse linear relationship.

Nanomaterials have been investigated as saturable absorbers for ultrafast lasers because of their large photoinduced transparency related to ground-state bleaching. However, the quantum dot size effect on the photoinduced transparency in the strong confinement regime has not been explored due to the challenge of accurately measuring the ground state and the excited-state absorption cross-sections. At the same time, these optical properties are essential to calculate several chemical and physical quantities at the nanoscale. In this context, we have employed the photoluminescence saturation method to determine the ground-state absorption cross-section and the femtosecond open-aperture Z-scan technique to investigate the size-dependent ground-state bleaching of glutathione-capped CdTe QDs synthesized in an aqueous medium. The results were modeled using rate equations within the three-energy levels approach. Our results pointed out that the photoinduced transparency rate at the 1S
3/2 (h) → 1S(e) transition peak presents an inverse linear relationship with the QD diameter (from 2.2 nm up to 3 nm). Otherwise, the larger QDs have a higher ground-state cross-section, which is directly proportional to the ground-state bleaching. To explain this apparent contradiction, we calculate the effective absorption coefficient αeff = σ / V ( σ is the absorption cross section and V is the QD volume) for the QDs and observed that the smaller QDs have a higher absorption from the ground to the first excited state, corroborating our results. Finally, our results showed that the saturable absorption effect in CdTe-QDs is slightly higher than that obtained for graphene and other 2D materials and smaller than the black phosphorus in the visible region.- Published

Objectives: The present systematic review aims to investigate the diagnosis, prognosis, delivery assistance, pregnancy results and postnatal management in gastroschisis., Study Design: The following data sources were evaluated: The CINAHL, Embase and MEDLINE/PubMed databases were searched, observational and intervention studies published over the past 20 years. The quality of the studies was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE)., Results: A total of 3770 infants diagnosed with gastroschisis were included (44 studies); 1534 fetuses were classified as simple gastroschisis and 288 as complex gastroschisis. Intrauterine fetal demise occurred in 0.47% and elective termination occurred in 0.13%. Preterm delivery occurred in 23.23% and intrauterine growth restriction in 4.43%. Cesarean section delivery was performed in 54.6%. Neonatal survival was 91.29%. The main neonatal complications were: sepsis (11.78%), necrotizing enterocolitis (2.33%), short bowel syndrome (1.37%), bowel obstruction (0.79%), and volvulus (0.23%). Immediate surgical repair was performed in 80.1% with primary closure in 69%. The average to oral feeding was 33 (range: 11-124.5) days. Average hospital duration was 38 days and 89 days in neonates with simple and complex grastroschisis, respectively., Conclusions: The present systematic review provides scientific data for counseling families with fetal gastroschisis.

Nowadays, a great deal of attention has been focused on synthesizing highly fluorescent unnatural base analogs. This has been motivated by the need to overcome the lack of fluorescence of nucleic acids' natural bases. Fluorescent unnatural base analogs, such as purines, may be used in several applications, such as DNA or RNA optical spectroscopy studies. Moreover, for purines base analogs, the optical properties, for example, emission, can be tunable through molecular engineering, improving their applications as fluorescent probes. Looking in this direction, the synthesis and optical spectroscopic studies of a new set of purines base analogs are of foremost relevance. Here, an increase in the fluorescence quantum yield was observed in molecules with NH-π-CN arrangement. The two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-sections also increased for the lower energy 2PA state. The enhancement of both properties results in a two-photon brightness of 5 and 10 times higher than in compounds lacking the NH-π-CN arrangement. For the higher energy 2PA state, an excited state absorption contribution to the 2PA cross-section values was observed, that was verified through ultrafast transient absorption measurements. Oleandrin, a cardiac glycoside isolated from the leaves of Nerium oleander, has known effects on the heart. Evidence from recent studies have highlighted its potential for anticancer properties. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the effects of oleandrin on cancer cell proliferation, viability and apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. We performed a systematic search in six electronic databases up to Jan 2022. We extracted information about the effects of oleandrin on cell proliferation, cell viability, apoptosis and/or cell cycle arrest in in vitro studies, and the effects on tumor size and volume in animal experimental models. We have retrieved 775 scientific studies. 14 studies met the inclusion criteria. They investigated the effects of oleandrin on breast, lung, pancreatic, colon, prostate, colorectal, oral, ovarian, glioma, melanoma, glioblastoma, osteosarcoma, and histiocytic lymphoma cancers. Overall, in vitro studies demonstrated that oleandrin was able to inhibit cell proliferation, decrease cell viability, and induce apoptosis and/or cell cycle arrest. In addition, oleandrin had an effect on reducing mean tumor size and volume in animal studies. Oleandrin, as a cytotoxic agent, demonstrated antitumor effects in different types of cancers, however important clinical limitations remain a concern. These results encourage future studies to verify the applicability of oleandrin in antineoplastic therapeutic protocols human and veterinary medicine, the investigation of antimetastatic properties, as well as the potential increase in patient survival and the decrease of tumor markers., (Copyright © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. Background: Sedentary behavior and physical inactivity may increase the risk of obesity. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate: i) the prevalence/incidence of sedentary behavior and physical inactivity, ii) the association of sedentary behavior and physical inactivity with obesity, and iii) the objective and subjective measures, diagnostic criteria, and cut-off points to estimate sedentary behavior and physical inactivity in adults and older adults with obesity., Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis in PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs, and Cochrane Library databases. A meta-analysis of a random-effects model was performed to estimate the combined prevalence of sedentary behavior and physical inactivity and their association with obesity., Results: Twenty-three studies involving 638,000 adults and older adults were included in the systematic review. A meta-analysis was conducted with 111,851 individuals with obesity. The combined prevalence of sedentary behavior was 31% (95% CI, 23-41%), and physical inactivity was 43% (95% CI, 31-55%). Significant associations between obesity and sedentary behavior (OR 1.45, 95% CI, 1.21-1.75) and physical inactivity (OR 1.52, 95% CI, 1.23-1.87) were found. Nine studies have used objective measures to assess physical activity levels, such as accelerometers and pedometers, whereas fourteen applied subjective methods and self-reported questionnaires., Conclusions: As expected, we found elevated rates of sedentary behavior and physical inactivity in individuals with obesity and a positive risk association. 27. Association between multimorbidity and hospitalization in older adults: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Multimorbidity is defined as the presence of multiple chronic conditions in the same individual. Multimorbidity is more prevalent in older adults and can lead to several adverse health outcomes., Methods: We systematically reviewed evidence from observational studies to verify the association between multimorbidity and hospitalization in older adults. Furthermore, we also aimed to identify whether it changes according to gender, advanced age, institutionalization, and wealth of the country of residence. We searched the PubMed, Embase and Scopus databases from December 2020 to April 2021. The analysed outcomes were as follows: hospitalization, length of stay and hospital readmission., Results: Of the 6,948 studies identified in the databases, 33 were included in this review. From the meta-analysis results, it was found that multimorbidity, regardless of the country's wealth, was linked to hospitalization in older adults (OR = 2.52, CI 95% = 1.87-3.38). Both definitions of multimorbidity, ≥2 (OR = 2.35, 95% CI = 1.34-4.12) and ≥3 morbidities (OR = 2.52, 95% CI = 1.87-3.38), were associated with hospitalization. Regardless of gender, multimorbidity was associated with hospitalization (OR = 1.98, 95% CI = 1.67-2.34) and with readmission (OR = 1.07, 95% CI = 1.04-1.09). However, it was not possible to verify the association between multimorbidity and length of stay., Conclusions: Multimorbidity was linked to a higher hospitalization risk, and this risk was not affected by the country's wealth and patient's gender. 28. Antitumor Properties of Curcumin in Breast Cancer Based on Preclinical Studies: A Systematic Review.

Breast cancer is one of the most common neoplasms among women. Anticancer strategies using natural formulations and phytotherapies are promising antitumor treatment alternatives. This review assesses the antitumor effects of curcumin on breast cancer reported in preclinical in vitro and in vivo animal models. We used five databases to search for preclinical studies published up to May 2021. The assessments included the effects of curcumin on the proliferation, viability, and apoptosis of breast cancer cell lineages and on tumor volume. In total, 60 articles met the inclusion criteria. Curcumin administered at different concentrations and via different routes of administration inhibited proliferation, decreased viability, and induced apoptosis in human and animal breast cancer cells. Nanoparticle formulations of curcumin administered orally, via implant, and intraperitoneally reduced the tumor volume of human and murine mammary cells in vivo. Moreover, curcumin nanoformulations exert positive effects on tumor growth inhibition in animal models of breast cancer. Further randomized clinical trials are warranted to assess the efficacy and safety of curcumin formulations for clinical use.

29. Modeling the First-Order Molecular Hyperpolarizability Dispersion from Experimentally Obtained One- and Two-Photon Absorption.

The search for optical materials, particularly organic compounds, is still an attractive and essential field for developing several photonic devices and applications. For example, some applications are based on light scattering with twice the energy of the incoming photon for selected compounds, that is, the nonlinear optical effect related to the second-order susceptibility term from the electronic polarization expression. The microscopic interpretation of this phenomenon is called the first-order molecular hyperpolarizability or incoherent second harmonic generation of light. Understanding such phenomena as a function of the incoming wavelength is crucial to improving the optical response of future materials. Still, the experimental apparatus, hyper-Rayleigh scattering, apparently simple, is indeed a challenging task. Therefore, we proposed a proper alternative to obtain the dispersion of the first-order hyperpolarizability using the well-known one- and two-photon absorption techniques. By the spectral analysis of both the spectra, we gathered spectroscopic parameters and applied them for predicting the first-order hyperpolarizability dispersion. This prediction is based on an n -level energy system, taking into account the position and magnitude of transition dipole moments and the difference between the permanent dipole moment of the n -excited states. Moreover, using the presented method, we can avoid underestimating the first-order hyperpolarizability by not suppressing higher-energy transitions. Quantum chemical calculations and the hyper-Rayleigh scattering technique were used to validate the proposed method.

30. Barriers to high school and university students' physical activity: A systematic review.

Physical inactivity commonly occurs throughout one's life, particularly during adolescence and young adulthood. Multiple factors can negatively influence participation in physical activity, but there has been no review examining the barriers to physical activity among high school and university students. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review was to summarize evidence of barriers to the practice of physical activity among high school and university students. The literature search was conducted without time limits using five databases, including CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, and Scopus. In total, 59 studies (37 with high school students [n = 22,908] and 22 with university students [n = 15,411]) were included. The main barriers identified in high school and university students were lack of time, lack of motivation, and lack of accessible places. Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) is a neurotransmitter that regulates multiple psychophysiological functions. An imbalance of 5-HT in the brain can modulate emotional behavior such as depression and anxiety. Substances, such as flavonols, naturally found in some plants and foods have beneficial effects on psychiatric disorders, have been studied. The aim of this systematic review was to investigate the effects of flavonols on morphological, physiological, and cellular aspects of the serotonergic system as well as on some behaviors modulated by this system. Literature searches were performed in the LILACS, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed and Sigle via Open Grey databases, from which 1725 studies were found. Using a predefined protocol registered on the CAMARADES website, 18 studies were chosen for qualitative synthesis. Internal validity was assessed using the SYRCLE's risk of bias tool. The Kappa index was also measured to analyze agreement among the reviewers. The results of this systematic review showed that flavonols have been reported to modify physiological aspects of the serotonergic system, increasing levels of serotonin and decreasing levels of its metabolite, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) and promoting antioxidant effects in encephalic regions. Moreover, the results showed that flavonols can also modulate of the serotonergic system, being associated with antidepressant and anxiolytic activities. In this systematic review, we aimed to identify the association between motor performance and BP in children and adolescents., Databases and Data Treatment: A literature search was performed in the MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, SPORTDiscus and CINAHL databases. We included cross-sectional, cohort, case-control and controlled clinical trials (data from control groups). The inclusion criteria were as follows: (a) participants aged 6-19 years; (b) assessment motor performance components; (c) assessment of BP and (d) reported measures of association. The risk of bias was assessed by the Downs and Black instrument and the quality of evidence by the grading of recommendations, assessment, development and evaluation (GRADE)., Results: A total of 2360 articles were identified, 25 of which were included in our systematic review. Of the 25 studies, 19 were evaluated as having a low risk of bias. GRADE indicated that 20 studies presented low or very low quality. Most of the studies evaluated flexibility (n = 16), muscle endurance (n = 18) and muscle strength (n = 9). Aerobic capacity, balance and speed were also examined in some studies (n < 5). Overall, motor performance (flexibility, muscle endurance, muscle strength, aerobic capacity, balance and speed) was not associated with BP. Most of the results were inconsistent because of the lack of studies, risk of bias and low quality of evidence. Only trunk extensor muscle endurance was associated with decreased BP with moderate quality of the supporting evidence. Prospective studies with a low risk of bias are warranted to further clarify this relationship in childhood and adolescence and findings may support more targeted and effective health promotion interventions., Significance: This systematic review shows that motor performance (flexibility, muscle endurance, muscle strength, aerobic capacity, balance and speed) was not associated with BP in children and adolescents. Most of the results were inconsistent because of the lack of studies, risk of bias and low quality of evidence. Women undergoing assisted reproduction treatment without being able to become pregnant, and experiencing pregnancy loss after assisted reproduction, are triggering factors for prolonged grief and mourning. This review aims to investigate the psychosocial aspects of gestational grief among women who have undergone infertility treatment. We searched the databases of MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Lilacs for works published up to 5 March 2021. The outcomes analyzed were negative and positive psychosocial responses to gestational grief among women suffering from infertility and undergoing assisted human reproduction treatment. Eleven studies were included, which yielded 316 women experiencing infertility who were undergoing treatment. The most frequently reported negative psychosocial manifestations of grief response were depression (6/11, 54.5%), despair or loss of hope/guilt/anger (5/11, 45.5%), anxiety (4/11, 36.4%), frustration (3/11, 27.3%), and anguish/shock/suicidal thoughts/isolation (2/11, 18.2%). Positive psychosocial manifestations included the hope of becoming pregnant (4/6, 66.6%) and acceptance of infertility after attempting infertility treatment (2/6, 33.3%). We identified several negative and positive psychosocial responses to gestational grief in women experiencing infertility. Psychological support before, during, and after assisted human reproduction treatment is crucial for the management of psychosocial aspects that characterize the grief process of women experiencing infertility who become pregnant and who lose their pregnancy. Our results may help raise awareness of the area of grief among infertile women and promote policy development for the mental health of bereaved women.

34. Prognostic Role of PD-L1 Expression in Invasive Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) has been investigated in various types of cancer; however, the role of PD-L1 expression in breast cancer remains controversial. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the association of PD-L1 expression with clinicopathological variables, overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS) in invasive breast cancer. A total of 965 articles were included from CINAHL, Embase, PubMed, and Scopus databases. Of these, 22 studies encompassing 6468 cases of invasive breast cancer were included in the systematic review, and 15 articles were included in the meta-analysis. PD-L1 expression was associated with age ≥ 50 years, lymph node status-negative, progesterone receptor-negative, Ki67 ≥ 20%, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative. PD-L1 positivity was associated with worse OS (hazard ratio, HR, 2.39; 95% confidence interval, CI, 1.26-3.52; p =< 0.000); however, there was no significant improvement in DFS (HR 0.17; 95% CI -0.12-0.46; p =< 0.252). PD-L1 positivity was significantly associated with the clinicopathological characteristics of favorable and unfavorable prognoses. However, the final clinical outcome was associated with lower OS and had no significant association with DFS.

Background: Analysis of sexual abuse has usually been neglected in research at developing countries despite its everlasting consequences. This study examined the prevalence of sexual abuse among Brazilian adolescents according to data from the National School Health Survey (PeNSE) and analyzed it based on Brazilian regions, sociodemographic aspects, health information, and health-risk behaviors among Brazilian adolescents who reported having experienced sexual abuse previously., Participants and Setting: The PeNSE data were utilized, and the sample included 102,072 students from all over Brazil, aged between 11 and 19 years., Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires and were analyzed by multivariate analysis using the Poisson regression model., Results: The results denoted a relation between sexual abuse, social determinants of health variables (i.e., black, indigenous, and mixed skin color/ethnicity; Brazilian region public school, age between 15 and 18 years, and low education level of the mother), and health-risk behaviors (i.e., early sexual intercourse, having multiple sexual partners, unprotected sexual intercourse, use of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs)., Conclusion: Therefore, reports of sexual abuse are associated with risky behaviors. The present work reports the effects of meso-tetrakis (4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrin (TPPS
4 ) aggregation on its excited states absorption spectra, triplet states quenching by molecular oxygen and singlet oxygen production. Experimental techniques such as optical absorption, Z-scan with a white light continuum source and the Laser Flash Photolysis were used to fulfil the study. J-aggregates possess reverse saturable absorption in the 505-660 nm spectral range with a peak centered close to 540 nm. These facts together with their fast relaxation time suggest that they can be employed as material for ultrafast optical limiting and switching. Even though aggregation reduces the porphyrin excited-state lifetimes and quantum yields, it does not reduce the probability of the contact between the quencher and the excited aggregate. Aggregation does not change the contribution of energy transfer mechanisms to triplet state quenching by molecular oxygen. The production of singlet oxygen, the intense absorption in the phototherapeutic window and the high efficiency of conversion of light energy into heat, allow consider J-aggregates as a theranostic agent for photomedicine. 37. Ultrasound Markers for Complex Gastroschisis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Although gastroschisis is often diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound, there is still a gap in the literature about which prenatal ultrasound markers can predict complex gastroschisis. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the ultrasound markers that characterize complex gastroschisis. A systematic review of the literature was conducted according to the guidelines of PRISMA. The protocol was registered (PROSPERO ID CRD42020211685). Meta-analysis was displayed graphically on Forest plots, which estimate prevalence rates and risk ratios, with 95% confidence intervals, using STATA version 15.0. The combined prevalence of intestinal complications in fetuses with complex gastroschisis was 27.0%, with a higher prevalence of atresia (about 48%), followed by necrosis (about 25%). The prevalence of deaths in newborns with complex gastroschisis was 15.0%. The predictive ultrasound markers for complex gastroschisis were intraabdominal bowel dilatation (IABD) (RR 3.01, 95% CI 2.22 to 4.07; I
2 = 15.7%), extra-abdominal bowel dilatation (EABD) (RR 1.55, 95% CI 1.01 to 2.39; I2 = 77.1%), and polyhydramnios (RR 3.81, 95% CI 2.09 to 6.95; I2 = 0.0%). This review identified that IABD, EABD, and polyhydramnios were considered predictive ultrasound markers for complex gastroschisis. Absorption and relaxation dynamics of electronic states of free-base, Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) porphyrins bearing a β-(2,2-difluoro-1,3,2-dioxaborinin-5-yl) group were investigated in dimethyl sulfoxide by using distinct time-resolved spectroscopic techniques. Furthermore, excited state absorption cross-section spectra were determined by combining white light continuum Z-Scan and transient absorption techniques. In the case of the free-base (2H) and Zn(II) porphyrins, we were able to quantify singlet-triplet conversion by analyzing the evolution of time-resolved fluorescence. Relaxation lifetimes from the excited to the ground state were observed in both porphyrins at nanosecond time scale. However, for Co(II) and Cu(II) metalloporphyrins it was observed in the picosecond time scale through femtosecond transient absorption, indicating that both compounds relax back to the ground state only by internal conversion processes. 39. Reduction in Pain and Pain Intensity with Nonpharmacological Treatment in Severely Obese Patients: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

The objective of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of two nonpharmacological interventions-traditional Brazilian diet (DieTBra), and extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO)-in terms of the reduction in pain and pain intensity in individuals with severe obesity. We conducted a 12-week parallel randomized clinical trial with 149 individuals (body mass index (BMI) ≥ 35 kg/m
2 ) who were randomized into three groups: supplementation with EVOO ( n = 50), DieTBra ( n = 49), and EVOO + DieTBra ( n = 50). Of the total, 133 individuals with a mean BMI of 46.04 kg/m2 completed the study. By the end of the follow-up, there was a reduction in severe pain in the EVOO + DieTBra group ( p = 0.003). There was a significant reduction in severe pain in the EVOO + DieTBra group (-22.7%); pain in the wrist and hand (-14.1%), upper back (-26.9%), and knees (-18.4%) in the DieTBra group; and reduction in hip pain (-11.1%) with EVOO consumption. We conclude that EVOO and DieTBra, either alone or in combination, are effective interventions to reduce pain intensity and pain in different regions in individuals with severe obesity, and have great potential for clinical application.- Published

This paper demonstrates that femtosecond laser-irradiated Fe
2 O3 materials containing a mixture of α-Fe2 O3 and ε-Fe2 O3 phases showed significant improvement in their photoelectrochemical performance and magnetic and optical properties. The absence of Raman-active vibrational modes in the irradiated samples and the changes in charge carrier emission observed in the photocurrent density results indicate an increase in the density of defects and distortions in the crystalline lattice when compared to the nonirradiated ones. The magnetization measurements at room temperature for the nonirradiated samples revealed a weak ferromagnetic behavior, whereas the irradiated samples exhibited a strong one. The optical properties showed a reduction in the band gap energy and a higher conductivity for the irradiated materials, causing a higher current density. Due to the high performance observed, it can be applied in dye-sensitized solar cells and water splitting processes. Quantum mechanical calculations based on density functional theory are in accordance with the experimental results, contributing to the elucidation of the changes caused by femtosecond laser irradiation at the molecular level, evaluating structural, energetic, and vibrational frequency parameters. 41. Pain in Hemodialysis Patients: Prevalence, Intensity, Location, and Functional Interference in Daily Activities.

Although pain is a frequent complaint of patients with chronic kidney disease who undergo hemodialysis, few studies have assessed the functional interference of pain in activities of daily living (ADLs). Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence, location, intensity, and functional interference of pain in ADLs of chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis and to estimate the association of specific pain sites with severe functional interference by pain in ADLs. This cross-sectional study included patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. The prevalence, intensity, and functional interference of pain in ADLs were assessed using the brief pain inventory. Poisson regression was used to calculate the prevalence ratio. A total of 65 patients participated in the study. The overall prevalence of pain was 89.23%; the prevalence of headache was 18.46% and that of pain in the trunk was 55.38%, upper limbs was 35.38%, and lower limbs was 60.00%. The prevalence of moderate and severe pain at the time of hemodialysis was 13.85% and 21.54%, respectively. A high prevalence of severe functional interference of pain in general activity (61.54%), mobility (56.92%), and disposition (55.38%) was observed. Pain is a frequent complaint in patients undergoing hemodialysis, mainly musculoskeletal and intradialytic, and it interferes with ADLs and incapacitates the patient. Pain was highly prevalent in the upper and lower limbs and the trunk. Furthermore, a higher prevalence of severe pain at the time of hemodialysis and functional interference of pain, mainly in general activity, mobility, and disposition, were observed.

Aims: To assess the presence of pain, its location, intensity, and effects on the daily activities of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis (HD)., Participants/subjects: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis (HD)., Design: A systematic review., Methods: We carried out search for articles published until December 2020, including publications in Portuguese, English, and Spanish during the past 15 years (2005-2020), using the Embase, SciELO, PubMed, and Web of Science databases. The following information was collected: type of pain, pain treatment, pain assessment instrument, prevalence of pain, location, and influence of pain on quality of life., Results: Twenty-five studies were selected for a systematic review. These studies involved a total of 98,162 adult and elderly patients with CKD who were undergoing HD. There was a high prevalence of pain in patients with CKD on HD. The most frequent sites of pain were the head, back, bones, chest, and the upper and lower limbs. The presence of acute, chronic, neuropathic pain, and myalgia was also reported in the studies. In addition, there was a higher frequency of moderate and severe pain, which influenced daily activities, the ability to walk, mood, relationships with other people, sleep, and work in patients on dialysis., Conclusions: The analyzed studies suggest that acute and chronic pain is a prevalent complaint in adults and elderly patients undergoing HD. 43. Effective π-electron number and symmetry perturbation effect on the two-photon absorption of oligofluorenes.

Fluorene-based molecules exhibit significant nonlinear optical responses and multiphoton absorption in the visible region, which, combined with the high fluorescence quantum yield in organic solvents, could make this class of materials potentially engaging in diverse photonics applications. Thus, herein, we have determined the two-photon absorption (2PA) of oligofluorenes containing three, five, and seven repetitive units by employing the wavelength-tunable femtosecond Z-scan technique. Our outcomes have shown that the 2PA cross-section in oligofluorenes presents an enhanced value of around 18 GM per N
eff , in which Neff is the effective number of π-electrons, for the pure 2PA allowed transition (11 Ag -like → 21 Ag -like). Furthermore, a weak 2PA transition was observed in the same spectral region strongly allowed by one-photon absorption (11 Ag -like → 11 Bu -like). This last result suggests a molecular symmetry perturbation, probably induced by the molecular disorder triggered by the increase of moieties in the oligofluorene structure. We have calculated the permanent dipole moment difference related to the lowest-energy transition using the Lippert-Matagaformalism and the 2PA sum-over-states approach to confirm this assumption. Moreover, we have estimated the fundamental limits for the 2PA cross-section in oligofluorenes.- Published

In this manuscript, we report, the photophysical study of triplet excited states and antimicrobial photoinactivation of positively charged tetra-cisplatin porphyrin derivatives against Gram + and Gram ‒ bacterial strains. Isomeric cisplatin-porphyrins were used and applied in aPDT assays in the bacilli Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Gram negative) and a cocci Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive) strains. The results show that compound substituted at meta position (3-cis-PtTPyP) is the more efficient photosensitizer against bacteria culture. In this way, tetra-cationic porphyrins containing cisplatin derivatives might be promising aPDT agents with potential applications in clinical infections., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier B.V. In Brazil, a federal law ensures that all students with disabilities are entitled to enrollment in higher education institutions. Higher courses in human anatomy stand out for their complexity in both theoretical and practical contents. Therefore, adaptation is required to accommodate students with special educational needs. This study aimed to describe the experience of a Support Teacher in the development of inclusive pedagogical practices for the discipline of Human Anatomy offered in the physiotherapy course for a student with low vision and blindness. The challenges and learning difficulties faced by a visually impaired student are reported. Qualitative analysis was performed by interviewing a student with low vision and blindness and a Support Teacher. The audio recordings were transcribed, categorized, and analyzed using content analysis. The Support Teacher created schematics and drawings of anatomical structures, reviewed theoretical and practical contents, developed adaptations of the examinations, and applied palpatory anatomy to facilitate the student's learning process. The findings illustrate that the student faced the greatest difficulty in dealing with the emotional aspects, due to the inability to visualize the anatomical details in human cadavers. Thus, the presence of a Support Teacher was fundamental to ensure that the student could learn the content and overcome this limitation. This study aimed to examine the prevalence rates of poor quality sleep and daytime sleepiness in health professionals and their association with socioeconomic, lifestyle, and anthropometric factors and psychosocial work conditions. This cross-sectional study was performed with health professionals from various public and private hospitals in Rio Verde, Goiás, Brazil. Daytime sleepiness and sleep quality were assessed using the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, respectively. The variables were analyzed using multiple hierarchical Poisson regression in the statistical package Stata version 13.0. A total of 244 health professionals participated in this study (women, 78.28%). The rates of abnormal daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality were 50.41% ( n = 123) and 55.74% ( n = 136), respectively. Reduced physical activity was associated with poor sleep quality (prevalence ratio (PR) = 1.32; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.02-1.70, p = 0.035). Age between 20 and 29 years (PR = 2.59; 95% CI 1.37-4.91, p = 0.021) and 30 and 49 years (PR = 2.09; 95% CI 1.12-3.91, p = 0.021), as well as excessive alcohol consumption (PR = 1.29; 95% CI 1.01-1.66, p = 0.048), were risk factors for daytime sleepiness. Conversely, adequate bodyweight (PR = 0.52; 95% CI 0.33-0.82, p = 0.005) was considered a protective factor. The present findings suggest high rates of abnormal daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality among healthcare professionals. We emphasize the importance of physical activity, adequate weight, and healthy habits for better quality sleep and reduced daytime sleepiness.

- Abstract
The direct laser writing technique based on two-photon polymerization (TPP) has evolved considerably over the past two decades. Its remarkable characteristics, such as 3D capability, sub-diffraction resolution, material flexibility, and gentle processing conditions, have made it suitable for several applications in photonics and biosciences. In this review, we present an overview of the progress of TPP towards the fabrication of functionalized microstructures, whispering gallery mode (WGM) microresonators, and microenvironments for culturing microorganisms. We also describe the key physical-chemical fundamentals underlying the technique, the typical experimental setups, and the different materials employed for TPP.

48. Molecular Structure-Optical Property Relationship of Salicylidene Derivatives: A Study on the First-Order Hyperpolarizability.

The first-order hyperpolarizability of π-conjugated organic molecules is of particular interest for the fabrication of electro-optical modulators. Thus, we investigated the relationship between the molecular structure and the incoherent second-order nonlinear optical response (β
HRS ) of four salicylidene derivatives (salophen, [Zn(salophen)(OH2 )], 3,4-benzophen, [Zn(3,4-benzophen)(OH2 )]) dissolved in DMSO. For that, we employed the Hyper-Rayleigh Scattering technique with picosecond pulse trains. Our experimental results pointed out dynamic βHRS values between 32.0 ± 4.8 × 10-30 cm5 /esu and 58.5 ± 8.0 × 10-30 cm5 /esu at 1064 nm, depending on the molecular geometry of the salicylidene molecules. More specifically, the outcomes indicate a considerable increase of βHRS magnitude (∼30%) when in the ligands are incorporated the Zn(II) ion. We ascribed such results to the rise of the planarity of the π-conjugated backbone of the chromophores caused by the Zn(II). Furthermore, we observed an increase of ∼50% in dynamic βHRS when there is a replacement of one hydrogen atom (salophen molecule) by an acetophenone group (3,4-benzophen). This result is related to the increase of the effective π-electron number and the higher charge transfer induced at the excited state. All these findings were interpreted and supported in the light of time-dependent density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Solvent effects were considered in the quantum chemical calculations using the integral equation formalism variant of the polarizable continuum model.- Published

49. Narrative review of the influence of high-intensity interval training on adolescents' bone health: commentary and perspectives.

Although several benefits have been associated to high-intensity interval training (HIIT), there is a lack of clarity on the HIIT effects in adolescents, especially on bone health outcomes. To address this gap, our research aimed to perform a systematic review, which focus on the influence of HIIT on adolescents' bone health. Our search strategy was conducted on three databases (PubMed, SCOPUS, and Embase). For our review, we included articles with the following characteristics: (I) sample consisting of adolescents (10-19 years old), (II) HIIT interventions; and (III) assessment of bone health outcomes. Longitudinal and clinical trials studies with no language and year of publications restrictions were eligible to be included. A total of 63 eligible studies were identified. After removing the duplicates and screening the titles and abstracts, six articles remained to be read in full text. However, none of the articles met our criteria. Studies in which no article meets the eligibility criteria are also essential and need to be shared with the academic community because it may stimulate appropriate future investigations in this field. 50. Maternal Coronavirus Infections and Neonates Born to Mothers with SARS-CoV-2: A Systematic Review.

- Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is continuously affecting the lives of all people. Understanding the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy in terms of morbidity, mortality, and perinatal maternal and fetal outcomes is essential to propose strategies for prevention and infection control. Here, we conducted a systematic review to investigate pregnant women infected with COVID-19 in terms of signs and symptoms, type of delivery, comorbidities, maternal and neonatal outcomes, and the possibility of vertical transmission. A search on Embase and PubMed databases was performed on 31 October 2020. Observational studies and case reports on pregnant women infected with COVID-19 were included without language restrictions. The 70 selected studies included a total of 1457 pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19 in the first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy. The most common signs and symptoms were fever, cough, and nausea. The most frequent comorbidities were obesity, hypertensive disorders, and gestational diabetes. Among maternal and fetal outcomes, premature birth ( n = 64), maternal death ( n = 15), intrauterine fetal death or neonatal death ( n = 16), cases of intrauterine fetal distress ( n = 28), miscarriage ( n = 7), decreased fetal movements ( n = 19), and severe neonatal asphyxia ( n = 5) were the most frequent. Thirty-nine newborns tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) RNA was detected in the placenta ( n = 13) and breast milk ( n = 6). This review indicates that COVID-19 during pregnancy can result in maternal, fetal, and neonatal complications. In addition, SARS-CoV-2 viral exposure of neonates during pregnancy and delivery cannot be ruled out. Thus, we highlight the need for long-term follow-up of newborns from mothers diagnosed with COVID-19 to establish the full implications of SARS-CoV-2 infection in these children.
