Dissertação de Mestrado apresentada no ISPA – Instituto Universitário para obtenção de Grau de Mestre na especialidade de Psicologia Clínica. Os comportamentos autolesivos têm vindo a aumentar entre os adolescentes portugueses, pelo que será fundamental entender o impacto que os contextos, com os quais interagem, têm para o seu sentir, em especial a dimensão escolar. Através da metodologia qualitativa, o presente estudo aborda alunos e professores, com o objetivo de explorar sentires, o domínio acerca do tema, a perceção de risco, identificar fatores influenciadores, como se dá o pedido de ajuda, bem como identificar o que poderá estar a faltar para o decréscimo destas problemáticas. Através de entrevistas semi-diretivas, foram entrevistados 8 alunos de uma escola profissional, com idades compreendidas entre os 15 e os 18 anos de idade e 8 professores desses mesmos alunos. Os resultados reforçam que as dimensões familiar, escolar e social impactam, de facto, o sentir destes jovens, sendo a falta de compreensão, de empatia, de disponibilidade e de atenção fenómenos que se constituem como barreiras na aproximação. No respeitante aos professores, aflora o constrangimento, a falta de qualificações e de tempo para lidarem, de forma qualitativa, com o sentir destes jovens. Self-harm behaviors has been increasing among young portuguese teenagers, so it is essential to understand the impact that the contexts with which they interact, have in their inner state, in particular the school dimension. Through qualitative methodology, the present study approaches students and teachers, exploring their feelings, their mastery over the theme, the perception of risk, identifying the influencing factors, how the request for help is given, and ask how to reduce these problems. Through semi-directive interviews, 8 students from a professional school were interviewed, aged between 15 and 18 years old, and 8 teachers of these same students. The results reinforce that the family, school and social dimensions, in fact, impact the internal feelings of these young people, and the lack of understanding, empathy, availability and attention are phenomena that constitute barriers to approaching them. Regarding the teachers, emerged embarrassment, the lack of qualifications and of time to deal, qualitatively, with the feelings and behaviors of these young people

Faculdade de Ciências Médicas Resumo: Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar os sintomas referentes ao estado geral de saúde associado ao trabalho em turnos de enfermagem e relacioná-los com a qualidade do sono. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza descritiva, quantitativa e transversal. Participaram dessa pesquisa, profissionais de diversas categorias de uma instituição hospitalar da cidade de Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais. A população foi constituída por (n=136) profissionais de enfermagem com média de idade de 33,1 anos, 82,4% eram do sexo feminino, divididos nas seguintes categorias profissionais: enfermeiro 8,1%, técnico de enfermagem 80,9%, auxiliar de enfermagem 11,0%. Os turnos de trabalho eram os seguintes: turno diurno (7h às 19h) e noturno (19h às 07h). Os sujeitos atuavam em diversas unidades tais como Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Adulto, Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica e Neonatal, Centro Cirúrgico, Central de Material e Esterilização, Hemodiálise, Clínica Cirúrgica, Clínica Médica, Maternidade, Pediatria, Berçário, Urgência/Emergência. Foram utilizados três instrumentos para a coleta de dados: Ficha de Características Individuais e Sócio-Demográficas, Inventário de Estado Geral de Saúde, Questionário para Avaliação do Ciclo Vigília-Sono (diário do sono). Os dados foram estatisticamente significativos pelo Teste Qui-Quadrado (p= 0,021) para a presença do sintoma de flatulência ou distensão abdominal no turno noturno. Através da análise de regressão linear múltipla os sujeitos do turno diurno que apresentaram os sintomas de má digestão e irritabilidade, tiveram pior qualidade de sono noturno. Referindo-se a qualidade do sono diurno, os sintomas que se mostraram estatisticamente significativos pelo Teste Kruskal-Wallis foram a insônia (p=0,044) e a dificuldade de concentração (p=0,048). Analisando a qualidade do sono noturno, os sintomas que mostraram dados estatisticamente significativos pelo Teste de Kruskal-Wallis foram, sensação de má digestão (p=0,023), irritabilidade (p=0,002), insônia (p=0,001), dores de cabeça (p=0,005), dificuldade de concentração (p=0,002). Os trabalhadores do turno noturno mostraram uma melhor qualidade de sono noturno em relação ao turno diurno, com diferença estatisticamente significativa pelo Teste Mann-Whitney (p=0,046). Os profissionais de enfermagem demonstraram hábitos saudáveis de vida tais como não tabagismo (91,2%), não consumo de bebida alcoólica (89,7%), não utilizam medicamentos para dormir (91,2%) e realizam atividades físicas regulares (65,4%). Este estudo sugere novas abordagens às reais necessidades de saúde dos trabalhadores de enfermagem nos turnos hospitalares, conduzindo a medidas preventivas que possam melhorar o estilo de vida tais como os hábitos de sono. Abstract: The objective of this study was to identify the symptoms of general health state associated with shift work in nurses and to relate them to their sleep quality. This is descriptive, qualitative and cross-sectional study. Nursing staff from several categories from a hospital institution from Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, participated on this study. The population was compounded by nursing staff (n=136) with an average age of 33.1 years old, 82.4% were females and they were divided into the following categories: registered nurses (RN) 8.1%, technical nurses 80.9%, and assistant nurses 11.0%. Their shift works were the following: day shift (from 07:00 am to 07:00 pm) and night shift (from 07:00 pm to 07:00 am). The subjects worked on several departments such as Adult Intensive Care Units, Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Surgery Rooms, Sterilization Center, Hemodyalisis, Surgical and Medical Clinic, Maternity, Pediatric Department and Emergency Rooms. Three instruments were used for data collection: Socio Demographic Questionnaire, Inventory of General Health State, and Questionnaire for Assessment of Sleep-Awake Cycle (sleep diary). Chi-Square Test showed statistically significative results (p=0.021) for abdominal flatulence or distention symptoms during night shift. Through multiple linear regression analysis the subjects of the day shift who showed symptoms of bad digestion and irritability, had worse quality of nighttime sleep Regarding to diurnal sleep quality, Kruskal-Wallis Test showed statistically significative results for insomnia (p=0.044) and difficulty on concentration (p=0.048). Analyzing the nocturnal sleep quality, Kruskal-Wallis Test showed statistically significative results for feelings of bad digestion (p=0.023), irritability (p=0.002), insomnia (p=0.001) headaches (p=0.005) and difficulty on concentration (p=0.002). Night shift workers showed a better nocturnal sleep quality compared to day shift workers, showing a statistically significative difference using Mann-Whitney Test (p=0.046). Nursing staff showed healthy life habits such as: non smoking (91.2%), non alcoholic consumption (89.7%), non sleep pills (91.2%) and regular physical activities (65.4%). This study suggests new approaches to health needs of nursing staff that work on hospital shifts, leading to preventive measures in order to improve life style such as sleep habits. We aimed to identify persistent asthma phenotypes among adolescents and to evaluate longitudinally asthma-related outcomes across phenotypes. Adolescents (13-17 years) from the prospective, observational, and multicenter INSPIRERS studies, conducted in Portugal and Spain, were included (n = 162). Latent class analysis was applied to demographic, environmental, and clinical variables, collected at a baseline medical visit. Longitudinal differences in clinical variables were assessed at a 4-month follow-up telephone contact (n = 128). Three classes/phenotypes of persistent asthma were identified. Adolescents in class 1 (n = 87) were highly symptomatic at baseline and presented the highest number of unscheduled healthcare visits per month and exacerbations per month, both at baseline and follow-up. Class 2 (n = 32) was characterized by female predominance, more frequent obesity, and uncontrolled upper/lower airways symptoms at baseline. At follow-up, there was a significant increase in the proportion of controlled lower airway symptoms (p < 0.001). Class 3 (n = 43) included mostly males with controlled lower airways symptoms; at follow-up, while keeping symptom control, there was a significant increase in exacerbations/month (p = 0.015). We have identified distinct phenotypes of persistent asthma in adolescents with different patterns in longitudinal asthma-related outcomes, supporting the importance of profiling asthma phenotypes in predicting disease outcomes that might inform targeted interventions and reduce future risk. publishersversion published

A pesquisa científica e a prática profissional têm vindo a demonstrar que as diferentes formas de expressão artística (música, teatro, dança etc.) revelam-se instrumentos especialmente eficazes no que diz respeito à intervenção social, seja na prevenção, reabilitação e tratamento de pessoas que apresentam problemas psicossociais, seja no seu potencial para capacitar e fortalecer o desenvolvimento social e pessoal de indivíduos numa comunidade. Por esse motivo, formar interventores sociais com recurso à arte torna-se, na nossa perspetiva, uma condição imperativa. Neste trabalho dá-se a conhecer os dados para Portugal do projeto "El Uso del Arte en la Formación y en la Intervención del Trabajo Social: Estudio Comparado entre España y Portugal" (INATS). Recorrendo à pesquisa documental, analisaram-se os planos de estudos das licenciaturas em Serviço Social em Portugal, lecionadas em 16 escolas públicas e privadas. Do trabalho de análise dos planos de estudo pode concluir-se que a Arte ainda está muito pouco presente nesta formação. Scientific research and professional practice have shown that the different forms of artistic expression (music, theatre, dance, etc.) are particularly effective instruments for social intervention, whether in the prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of people with psychosocial problems, or in their potential to empower and strengthen the social and personal development of individuals in a community. For this reason, training social interventionists using art becomes, in our perspective, an imperative condition. This paper presents the data for Portugal from the project "El Uso del Arte en la Formación y en la Intervención del Trabajo Social: Estudio Comparado entre España y Portugal" (INATS). Using documentary research, the syllabuses of undergraduate degrees in Social Work in Portugal, taught in 16 public and public schools, were analysed. From the analysis of the syllabuses it can be concluded that Art is still very little present in this training.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Química apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia Água é essencial para a vida. A quantidade de água doce na Terra é limitada e sua qualidade está sob constante pressão. Preservar a qualidade da água doce é importante para o abastecimento de água potável, para a produção de alimentos e também para a utilização recreativa deste recurso. A qualidade da água pode ser comprometida pela presença de agentes infeciosos, produtos químicos tóxicos e riscos radiológicos (World Health Organization, 2018).A Águas do Centro Litoral, empresa responsável pela captação e tratamento de água e saneamento em alta, preocupada em encontrar soluções tecnologicamente e quimicamente diferentes para os seus problemas, colocou para este trabalho o desafio de estudar a possibilidade de remoção do excesso do ião manganês em uma das suas captações - Poço de Drenos Horizontais 3 (PDH3), localizado no complexo da Boavista (Coimbra), garantindo o aproveitamento de infraestruturas existentes e a gestão adequada dos recursos hídricos, garantindo-se as condições de sustentabilidade para a empresa.Com vista à remoção do ião manganês, este trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a possibilidade de utilização de hidróxido de sódio (NaOH), uma base forte, para subida de pH da água de forma a possibilitar a posterior precipitação do ião manganês; determinar o pH ótimo a partir do qual o ião manganês precipita; determinar o tempo de contacto necessário para que ocorra a precipitação e também prever quais as interferências que esta alteração terá nas características físico-químicas e sensoriais da água de abastecimento às populações.No primeiro conjunto de ensaios, elevou-se o pH da água em estudo com volumes definidos de NaOH e foram efetuados ensaios para a determinação da concentração do ião manganês, a condutibilidade elétrica e a turbidez, com tempos de contacto de 1, 3, 6 e 9 horas. Verifica-se que ao fim de 9 horas, a concentração de manganês diminui para cerca de 140 µg/L a pH de 10,8, o que não permite cumprir a legislação aplicável (Decreto-Lei 306/2007 de 27 de agosto, alterado pelo Decreto-Lei 152/2017 de 7 de dezembro), que define 50 µg/L como valor paramétrico para a concentração do ião manganês. Na segunda fase do estudo, repetiram-se todas as condições anteriormente testadas, incluindo tempos de contacto e volumes de adição de hidróxido de sódio, mas procedeu-se à filtração adicional das amostras, tendo sido observado uma redução no ião manganês superior a 93%, (valor final na ordem das 20 µg/L) e conclui-se que será possível retirar o manganês da água com recurso a pH superiores a 10,5, com posterior passagem por meio filtrante, contudo a água resultante deste tratamento necessita de um reequilíbrio uma vez que o pH final não cumpre a legislação aplicável. Water is essential for life. The amount of fresh water in the Earth is limited and its quality is under constant pressure. Preserving the quality of fresh water is important for the supply of drinking water, food production and recreational uses. Water quality can be hampered by the presence of infectious agents toxic chemicals and radiological risks (World Health Organization, 2018).Águas do Centro Litoral, a company that collect and treat water and wastewater, seeks daily for new technological and chemically efficient solutions to its problems. As such, this study investigates the possibility of removing excess of manganese ion from the source Horizontal Drain Well 3, located in the Boavista catchment (Coimbra), in order to ensure the use of existing infrastructures and the proper management of water sources, always assuring the sustainable conditions of the company to supply water of high quality standards.The objective of the present study is to assess the possibility of using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to increase the pH of the water to allow the subsequent precipitation of the manganese ion, to determine which is the optimum pH to precipitate the ion manganese, to assess the required contact time for optimal precipitation, and to identify the possible constrains on the physicochemical and sensorial characteristics of the water.In the first set of experiments, the pH was increased with established volumes of sodium hydroxide and the concentration of ion manganese, the electrical conductivity and turbidity were analysed, using contact times of 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours and 9 hours. It appears that after 9 hours, manganese decreases to 140 µg / L at pH 10.8, which does not comply with the applicable legislation (Decree-Law 306/2007 of 27 August, amended by Decree-Law Law 152/2017 of 7 December), which defines water quality standards of 50 µg / L for the concentration of manganese ion.In the second phase of the study, the conditions established in previous experiments were repeated, such as contact time and added volumes of sodium hydroxide, but the water samples were filtered (with a 0.45 µm porosity filter). It was concluded that it will be possible to effectively remove the manganese, with a reduction in manganese ion greater than 93% (final value in the order of 20 µg/L), from water using a pH greater than 10.5, with subsequent passage through filtering medium. However, the water resulting from this treatment needs to be rebalanced, as the pH does not comply with the applicable legislation.
