Background: Exercise optimizes peak bone mass accrual, particularly if the loading is high magnitude and distributed in abnormal directions. Little is known about the influence of early intense training in sport during peak bone mass accrual, especially in boys. Methods: Ninety-eight males aged 6–24 years (gymnasts, swimmers, and controls) completed the bone-specific physical activity questionnaire and a 7-day exercise diary. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry determined bone mineral properties of the total body (less head) and lumbar spine (LS, L1–L4) and total lean mass. Subgroup analyses were conducted for juniors (prepubescent), adolescents (11–16 y), and seniors (17–24 y). Results: Lean mass was positively associated with total body less head and LS bone outcomes in all 3 age groups (R2 =.632–.770, P <.05), and bone-specific physical activity questionnaire scores were associated with LS bone mineral density in adolescents and seniors (R2 =.440 and.591, P <.05). Senior gymnasts had significantly higher LS bone mineral density (in grams per square centimeter) and Z-scores than swimmers (P =.004) and controls (P =.012). Conclusions: Elite gymnastics is associated with superior peak bone mass accrual in young males. Whey protein ingestion during recovery from exercise increases myofibrillar but not muscle connective protein synthesis rates. It has been speculated that whey protein does not provide sufficient glycine to maximize postexercise muscle connective protein synthesis rates. In the present study, we assessed the impact of coingesting different amounts of collagen with whey protein as a nutritional strategy to increase plasma glycine availability during recovery from exercise. In a randomized, double-blind, crossover design, 14 recreationally active men (age: 26 ± 5 years; body mass index: 23.8 ± 2.1 kg·m−2) ingested in total 30 g protein, provided as whey protein with 0 g (WHEY), 5 g (WC05); 10 g (WC10), and 15 g (WC15) of collagen protein immediately after a single bout of resistance exercise. Blood samples were collected frequently over 6 hr of postexercise recovery to assess postprandial plasma amino acid kinetics and availability. Protein ingestion strongly increased plasma amino acid concentrations (p <.001) with no differences in plasma total amino acid availability between treatments (p >.05). The postprandial rise in plasma leucine and essential amino acid availability was greater in WHEY compared with the WC10 and WC15 treatments (p <.05). Plasma glycine and nonessential amino acid concentrations declined following whey protein ingestion but increased following collagen coingestion (p <.05). Postprandial plasma glycine availability averaged −8.9 ± 5.8, 9.2 ± 3.7, 23.1 ± 6.5, and 39.8 ± 11.0 mmol·360 min/L in WHEY, WC05, WC10, and WC15, respectively (incremental area under curve values, p <.05). Coingestion of a small amount of collagen (5 g) with whey protein (25 g) is sufficient to prevent the decline in plasma glycine availability during recovery from lower body resistance-type exercise in recreationally active men. There is a lack of evidence on the additional benefits of combining caffeine (CAF) and creatine (CRE) supplementation on anaerobic power and capacity. Thus, the aim of the present study was to test the effects of combined and isolated supplementation of CAF and CRE on anaerobic power and capacity. Twenty-four healthy men performed a baseline Wingate anaerobic test and were then allocated into a CRE (n = 12) or placebo (PLA; n = 12) group. The CRE group ingested 20 g/day of CRE for 8 days, while the PLA group ingested 20 g/day of maltodextrin for the same period. On the sixth and eighth days of the loading period, both groups performed a Wingate anaerobic test 1 hr after either CAF (5 mg/kg of body mass; CRE + CAF and PLA + CAF conditions) or PLA (5 mg/kg of body mass of cellulose; CRE + PLA and PLA + PLA conditions) ingestion. After the loading period, changes in body mass were greater (p <.05) in the CRE (+0.87 ± 0.23 kg) than in the PLA group (+0.13 ± 0.27 kg). In both groups, peak power was higher (p =.01) in the CAF (1,033.4 ± 209.3 W) than in the PLA trial (1,003.3 ± 204.4 W), but mean power was not different between PLA and CAF trials (p >.05). Objective: To determine the criterion validity and test–retest reliability of isometric finger-strength testing in 6 differentiated grip techniques for the assessment of bouldering ability among male climbers. Methods: We recruited participants at climbing gyms in Sweden and through online advertisements. We included climbers over 15 years of age with a minimum bouldering performance level of 17 International Rock Climbing and Research Association (IRCRA) for men and 15 IRCRA for women. We tested unilateral, maximal isometric peak finger strength in the front 3 drag, half crimp, closed crimp, 35 sloper, 45 × 90-mm, and 90 × 90-mm pinch through maximal force deloaded of a force plate. We analyzed criterion validity, test–retest reliability, and capacity to determine bouldering performance ability using a stepwise multivariable regression model. Results: Women were excluded from the analysis due to insufficient sample size (n = 16). Thirty-two male participants were included in the primary analysis. The median (interquartile range) age in the advanced and elite group was 27 (25; 35) and 23 (22; 32) years, respectively. The half crimp for the participants' weak and strong hand displayed the highest ability to determine bouldering grade performance, explaining 48% to 58% of the variance. In the stepwise regression, maximal strength in the half crimp and the front 3 drag collectively explained 66% of the variance for performance. Conclusion: Strength in the half crimp proved the most important performance indicator. Summary: This study examined the long‐term effects of a lifestyle modification program delivered at German Bundesliga football clubs. Weekly 90‐minute group sessions over 12 weeks combined health education and physical activity and were delivered by coaches affiliated with the football clubs. A total of 371 men (mean age 49.7 years [SD = 7.6]) attended 41 classes at 19 clubs in 2017 and 2018 and participated in the long‐term follow‐up. Primary outcome was weight‐loss at follow‐up with a mean observation period of 20.4 months after baseline. Measures were taken partly by research staff and partly by participants themselves. At baseline, the men had a mean weight of 111.3 kg (SD = 16.9). Three months after baseline (posttest), the men had lost a mean of 6.3 kg (95% CI: 5.7–6.9). From posttest to follow‐up, growth curve model showed men lost an average of 0.8 kg (95% CI: 0.2–1.4). Weight regain from posttest to follow‐up of at least 3% was observed in 75 participants (20.2%) and was associated with less improvement in vegetable consumption in an adjusted logistic regression model. The data suggest that participation in a male‐only lifestyle modification program offered by German football clubs may lead to sustained weight loss, but lack of a randomized control group and drop‐outs prevent generalization of the results. Background: The present study aimed to explore women's perception of men with different addictions in terms of their short- and long-term mate value. Objectives: 2,525 women (age range: 18–40, M = 28.35, SD = 6.39) were randomized to six conditions in a vignette-based experiment where a male of otherwise high mating value was described as suffering from either gambling, gaming, cannabis, anabolic androgenic steroid, and alcohol addiction or as not suffering from addiction (control). Results: Regarding long-term mate value of the target, the control target was rated higher than each of the targets. The gaming target was rated higher than the alcohol, cannabis, and gambling targets. Finally, the AAS target was rated as higher on long-term mate value than the alcohol and gambling addiction targets. Conclusions: Overall, women seem to perceive risk-taking in the face of uncertainty, reflected by gambling addiction, as an attractive behavioral tendency in men in terms of short-term mating. In contrast, potential long-term mates with gaming or chemical addictions are viewed more negatively, probably because it signals inadequate time and resources to be invested in a relationship. Community-based health events provide an opportunity to increase knowledge, awareness, and screening for acute and chronic diseases among individuals living in a socioeconomically diverse community. Because there are limited reports of such events, here we describe our ten-year experience of annual men's health fairs. This retrospective study of the Michigan Institute of Urology Foundation evaluated Men's Health Events held in Detroit, Michigan, from 2012 to 2021. Over 10 years, 11,129 men were screened and > 100,000 screenings were performed. The majority of the attendees were African-American men (61%), had a college degree (67%) or a high school diploma (26%), and had an annual income of <$35K (47%) or $35-60 K (30%). From 2012 to 2021, participants who saw a doctor in the past year rose from 62 to 70%; the median age of men rose from 52 to 58; their median testosterone levels increased from 353 ng/dL to 412 ng/dL, and men with concerning prostate-specific antigen values (≥ 4 ng/mL) doubled from 5% to 10%. Among participants, 59% had cholesterol levels of < 200 mg/dL, 28% of 200–240 mg/dL, and 13% of > 240 mg/dL; 7% had glucose levels of < 70 mg/dL, 68% of 70–105 mg/dL, and 25% of > 105 mg/dL ; 24% had ≥ 140 mmHg systolic and 18% had ≥ 90 mmHg diastolic blood pressure. Our findings suggest that community health events are successful at attracting and screening diverse community members. Objectives: Women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with major depressive disorder as men. Yet suicide rates are four times higher in men than women, increasing to six times when comparing older men to older women. Investigators have begun researching if depression presents differently in individuals who adhere to masculine norms, leading to the conceptualization of masculine depression. Despite validity evidence for the Male Depression Risk Scale-22 (MDRS-22) in mixed-age samples, few studies have investigated the possibility of age-related differences in masculine depression. The present study aimed to test for age invariance of the MDRS-22. Method: Age invariance for the MDRS-22 was tested via a multi-group confirmatory factor analysis with groups of younger (18–64 years) and older (65+ years) males (N = 469). Results: Age invariance for the MDRS-22 was not established, ΔX2 = 451.47, Δdf = 16, p < 0.001. Conclusion: Results of the study indicate that masculine depression may present differently between younger and older men. To fully understand the construct of masculine depression, it is important to investigate how symptoms may present in individuals of all ages. NPs can bridge this gap to address health disparities among men, who are more likely to develop life-threatening conditions and who generally face higher mortality at younger ages than women. Focusing on advancing preventive care among men strengthens family, community, and societal health, and the NP is crucial in fostering a culture of preventive care in this population. To help drive this change, use of a life-stage approach that incorporates a preventive care mindset is critical. Background: Men's engagement in maternal and child health care in the preconception health forum is essential because it allows primary prevention of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. This review aimed to identify strategies to engage men in preconception health. Materials and Methods: This scoping review was conducted from August to September 2022. The database searches included PubMed, EBSCO, and ProQuest from 2012 to 2022, related to men's involvement in reproductive health, preconception health, family planning, maternity, and infant care; articles written in English; national (Indonesia) and international articles; and appropriate thesis. The searched keywords were man/male role, premarital, preconception, reproductive health, and fertility. Results: The electronic searches turned to 1969 articles, 16 of which met the inclusion criteria and were selected for study analysis. This review identified three themes: identifying programs that are sensitive to the limitations of men; developing community outreach strategies; and engaging management principles, policy, and legislation. Conclusions: Efforts to engage men in preconception health can be complicated, but several strategic programs have demonstrated some success. Objective: To assess differences in dietary quality among college men reporting high, moderate, and non-video game usage. Participants: College men aged 18–24. Methods: Cross-sectional data were collected between 2012 and 2020. Participants (n = 1259) were categorized according to self-reported video game usage: non-users (NVG), <1 h/day (MVG), and ≥1 h/day (HVG). ANCOVA identified group differences in nutrient intake from 3-day food records. Results: College men reported 30% NVG, 39% MVG, and 31% HVG. Higher saturated fat (30.2 ± 0.4 g and 30.1 ± 0.3 g, vs. 28.5 ± 0.4 g, p <.01, p <.01) and lower fruit/vegetable intake (3.00 ± 0.1 cups and 2.91 ± 0.1 cups, vs. 3.45 ± 0.1 cups, p <.00, p <.00) was observed in HVG and MVG vs. NVG. Higher discretionary calories (750 ± 13 kcals, vs. 686 ± 13 kcals, p <.00) in HVG and sodium (3922 ± 44 mg, vs. 3860 ± 50 mg, p <.02) in MVG were reported vs. NVG. Background Despite knowledge of the pathophysiology and clinical complications of connective tissue diseases (CTD), little is known regarding their impact on men's sexual health disorders. Aim To investigate the prevalence of penile fracture (PF) in patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Marfan syndrome (MFS) in comparison with disease-free controls between 18 and 45 years of age. Methods A multicenter, international, electronic health record network (TriNetX) was queried to identify adult male patients (between 18 and 45 years) with or without EDS and MFS between 1993 and 2023 using ICD-10 codes. The prevalence of PF was compared between patients with and without the diseases of interest. Prevalence ratios (PR) were generated with 95% confidence intervals. Outcome Prevalence of PF in patients with EDS and MFS when compared to disease-free controls. Results The number of patients with EDS, MFS, and control groups was 8060, 8642, and 20 184 547, respectively, with a mean age of 27.8 ± 7.58, 28.6 ± 7.4, and 31.6 ± 8.04 years. Men with EDS had a higher prevalence of PF (PR 30.18, 95% CI [17.08–53.19]; P  < 0.0001). Similarly, men with MFS had a higher prevalence of PF (PR 23.4, 95% CI [12.6–43.7]; P  < 0.0001). Clinical implications This study demonstrates an association between CTD and men's sexual health disorders. It may be important to counsel such men about the risks of PF. Strengths and Limitations This is the largest study to date to demonstrate an association between CTD and men's sexual health disorders. While the large sample sizes in this study contribute to the robustness of the findings, the study is limited by the use of a claims-based dataset, which does not provide further details about disease course and complications, and the use of a univariate analysis only. Conclusions Patients with EDS and MFS are possibly at an elevated risk for PF. Due to the limitations of the TriNetX database, the analysis was limited to a univariate one, thus limiting the ability to control for confounders and limiting the generalizability of these findings. Australia's National Men's Health Strategy 2020–2030 considers men from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to be a priority population and foregrounds the importance of initiatives focused on empowerment. This article seeks to explore young working-class men's experiences with mental health in their years immediately following compulsory schooling. Drawing data from a larger study, we explore five young men who openly discussed their mental health. The analysis focuses on where they struggled, how they struggled and what self-care they enacted. Adopting a health literacy framework, we highlight two broad themes: closing yourself off and opening up. While historically working-class manhood has been centred around stoicism and a reluctance to admitting vulnerability, these case studies suggest that the identity work around masculinities and mental health may be experiencing change. Despite efforts made in Zimbabwe to address intimate partner violence (IPV), critical gaps still exist regarding the efficacy of IPV service provision in rural areas. This study examines male service providers' perceptions of IPV in Chimanimani Rural District in Zimbabwe to provide guidance for policy and practice on IPV intervention in rural areas. A qualitative study was conducted with six male service providers using in-depth interviews and thematic analysis. Our findings revealed how the intersection of social norms and the geographical location of rural areas influence service providers' perceptions of IPV and service provision. Most of the service providers interviewed had a general understanding of IPV and regarded it as unacceptable social behavior. However, constraints to service delivery typical in rural areas negatively impacted their IPV intervention, including having limited intervention resources, limited male participation, and conflicting identities (professional versus cultural identity). We conclude that service provision in rural areas is essential to respond to and prevent the occurrence of IPV, yet how service providers perceive IPV affects the quality of services rendered to victims. The purpose of this study was to assess whether hand grip strength (HGS) could be an effective indicator to estimate other physical fitness parameters in middle-aged and older men using large population data. Data for this study were obtained from the National Fitness Center operated by the Korea Institute of Sport Science (n = 429 572). The following were excluded from this study: women aged 44 years or younger (n = 238 257), repeated measurement data (n = 130 466), and errors or missing data (n = 6 497). The final sample included 54 352 participants (27 878 middle-aged and 26 474 older-aged). The highest overall physical fitness grade among participants was 5.6% (4.7%, middle-aged men; 6.6%, older men), the lowest was 52.1% (59.0%, middle-aged men, 43.9%, older men). HGS was positively correlated with flexibility (r = 0.183), muscular endurance (r = 0.354), and power (r = 0.463), in middle-aged men. In older men, flexibility (r = 0.227), and 30SCS (r = 0.385), were positively correlated; Timed Up and Go (r = −0.405), and F8W (r = −0.433), were negatively correlated. All physical fitness parameters were significantly higher in participants with normal HGS than those with low HGS. Background: Testosterone deficiency (TD) is an urgent health issue that requires attention, associated with various adverse health outcomes including cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and metabolic syndrome. Remnant cholesterol (RC) has emerged as a potential biomarker for cardiovascular risk, but its relationship with testosterone levels and TD has not been thoroughly investigated. This study aims to explore the association between RC and TD in adult American males using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Methods: This cross-sectional study utilized data from three NHANES cycles (2011-2016), including 2,848 adult male participants. RC was calculated as total cholesterol minus high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL). TD was defined as total testosterone levels below 300 ng/dL. Multivariable linear and logistic regression analyses, as well as smooth curve fitting and generalized additive models, were performed to assess the associations between RC and total testosterone levels and TD, adjusting for potential confounders. Subgroup analyses were conducted based on age, BMI, smoking status, diabetes, hypertension, CVD, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Results: Higher RC levels were significantly associated with lower total testosterone levels (b = -53.87, 95% CI: -77.69 to -30.06, p<0.001) and an increased risk of TD (OR = 1.85, 95% CI: 1.29 to 2.66, p=0.002) in fully adjusted models. When RC was analyzed as quartiles, participants in the highest quartile (Q4) had significantly lower total testosterone levels (b = -62.19, 95% CI: -93.62 to -30.76, p<0.001) and higher odds of TD (OR = 2.15, 95% CI: 1.21 to 3.84, p=0.01) compared to those in the lowest quartile (Q1). Subgroup analyses revealed consistent associations across different age groups, particularly strong in participants over 60 years, and in never smokers. The associations remained significant in both hypertensive and non-hypertensive groups, as well as in those with and without CKD. No significant interactions were found across subgroups. Conclusion: This study demonstrates a significant inverse association between RC levels and total testosterone levels, along with a positive association with the risk of TD. These findings suggest that RC could serve as a valuable biomarker for early identification of individuals at risk for TD. Carney Complex (CNC) is a rare syndrome characterized by spotty skin pigmentation and multiple neoplasms, notably cardiac myxomas, schwannomas, and endocrine tumours. It is often inherited in an autosomal dominant manner with PRKAR1A gene mutations found in the majority of cases. Male infertility is established as part of the CNC phenotype and is largely associated with Large cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumours (LCCSCT). We describe a case of a 30-year-old male patient with Carney Complex, presenting with severe oligoasthenozoospermia and primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease (PPNAD). During follow-up consults, the severe oligozoospermia and impaired semen motility persisted and the patient was also diagnosed with a recurring cardiac myxoma and LCCSCT. Molecular testing identified a novel PRKAR1A mutation involving a deletion of exons 4 to 7. Our findings suggest this mutation causes PRKAR1A haploinsufficiency, which may be directly linked to male infertility, irrespective of the presence of testicular tumours. Accordingly, in male patients with CNC, detection of a PRKAR1A gene mutation may serve as a predictive marker for infertility. This case report illustrates the importance of early consideration and management of infertility in male patients diagnosed with CNC. Most cases are linked to mutations in a gene called PRKAR1A and are inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. This case report presents a detailed examination of a patient diagnosed with Carney Complex (CNC), followed over nearly 10 years. The patient initially consulted due to infertility, which led to extensive investigations and diagnosis of several type of tumours: Primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease (PPNAD) in the adrenal glands, a cardiac myxoma, and Large cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumours (LCCSCT) in the testes - all tumours are characteristic features of CNC. Notably, genetic testing revealed a novel mutation in the PRKAR1A gene. Through this case, we highlight how this genetic mutation might cause PRKAR1A haploinsufficiency and be solely responsible for infertility in CNC irrespective of testicular tumours, providing valuable insights into a condition where male infertility is rarely documented. Background: Reliability of the six-stage cervical vertebrae maturation method to evaluate skeletal growth was evaluated on the combined male and female samples and revealed diverse results. The current study aimed to determine the reliability of the modified three-stage cervical vertebrae maturation method for estimating the skeletal growth of males and females. Methods: Pretreatment lateral cephalometric radiographs of 137 orthodontic patients were utilized to evaluate the intra- and inter-observer reliability of a modified cervical vertebrae maturation method. Four independent examiners categorized each radiograph into one of the three skeletal growth stages according to the cervical vertebrae morphology: (1) a pre-peak group (combining the CS1 and CS2 stages), (2) a peak group (combining the CS3 and CS4 stages), and (3) a post-peak group (combining the CS5 and CS6 stages). The Kappa index and the Fleiss multirater Kappa test were carried out to determine the reproducibility of this method. Results: The studied sample included cephalometric radiographs of 68 males (49.6%) and 69 females (50.4%) aged between 7 and 58 years; no significant age difference was found between the sexes (p = 0.189). The overall inter-observer reliability was 0.689 (p < 0.001), and the inter-observer reliability for the post-peak stage showed only Kappa = 0.896 (p < 0.001). The Kappa values were significantly greater in males than in females during the peak stage (0.626 and 0.488, respectively). Conclusions: A modified three-stage cervical vertebrae maturation method showed substantial overall inter-examiner agreement; however, differential reliability for diverse skeletal maturation stages and sexes was found. Background: Periodontal health in men with HIV remains understudied, despite suggestions of associations between HIV infection and gingival pocketing, periodontal attachment loss, and gingival inflammation. As antiretroviral therapy (ART) has improved the quality of life for people living with HIV (PLWH), aging-related risk factors and comorbidities, including periodontitis, have emerged. This study aims to assess alveolar bone height, gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) cytokines, and periodontal disease activity in men with and without HIV. Methods: Ninety-three men (50 HIV+, 43 HIV-) aged 35–70 years were recruited from Columbia University Irving Medical Center clinics. Periodontal examination, GCF collection, and intraoral radiographs were collected. Statistical analysis was conducted with t-tests for continuous variables and chi-squared tests for categorical variables. Results: While no significant differences were observed in bleeding on probing, clinical attachment loss and pocket depths, men with HIV exhibited significantly greater alveolar crestal height on radiographs compared to men without HIV (HIV + 3.41+/-1.35 mm, HIV- 2.64+/-1.01 mm; p = 0.004), reflecting greater alveolar bone loss. Conclusions: Men living with HIV demonstrate increased alveolar bone loss compared to those without HIV, possibly mediated by elevated IL6 levels. These results underscore the importance of comprehensive oral health management in PLWH and highlight the need for further research understanding the mechanisms linking HIV infection, cytokine dysregulation, and periodontal health. Background: Men frequently underestimate the significance of urinary incontinence and fail to disclose their condition owing to embarrassment and the associated social stigma. Therefore, successful incontinence management with absorbent products helps individuals cope with the emotional and social challenges arising from incontinence, including visible urine leakage, frequent urination, unpleasant odours, and isolation. Aim: To assess the most essential performance features of the newly developed MoliCare Premium Men Pad. Methods: Computer-assisted personal interviews were conducted to obtain the opinions and satisfaction levels of 69 male users with incontinence in Germany regarding different performance characteristics of the newly designed MoliCare Premium Men Pad after using the product. Findings: All performance characteristics of the new MoliCare Premium Men Pad design received positive ratings from all interviewees. Notably, 90% of participants were 'highly satisfied' and 'satisfied' with the new MoliCare design. Conclusions: The new MoliCare SkinGuard absorbent core technology, anti-leakage guards, and well-engineered product design provide protection, discretion, and comfort to individuals with incontinence. Background: Migraine is a prevalent neurologic disorder that affects women more than men. Examining health-related quality of life (HRQoL) by gender can aid decision makers in prioritizing future treatment and prevention programs. We aimed to quantify HRQoL by different levels of migraine disability and by gender. Methods: As part of a Canada-wide cross-sectional study, we administered an online survey to employed adults who self-reported a diagnosis of migraine. Migraine disability level was assessed using the Migraine Disability Assessment questionnaire (MIDAS). MIDAS scores were used to categorize respondents as having little to no, mild, moderate, or severe level of migraine-related disability. Physical and mental component summary scores (PCS and MCS) and health utilities were derived from responses to the Veterans Rand 12 Item Health Survey. PCS, MCS, and health utilities were summarized by migraine-related disability levels and gender. Covariate-adjusted linear regressions were used to examine the association between migraine disability level and health utility by gender. Results: A total of 441 participants completed the survey. The sample was predominantly women (60.1%), White race (75.5%), and had a mean age of 37 years. Mean health utility, PCS, and MCS scores were 0.61 (0.22), 45.0 (7.7), and 43.4 (11.0), respectively. All three scores decreased with increased migraine disability level. Gender differences on HRQoL within each migraine disability level were not statistically significant, except in the little to no disability level where women had lower mean MCS scores and health utility relative to men [mean (SD) MCS: women 44.0 (11.3); men 55.1 (8.1), p < 0.001; health utility: women 0.66 (0.18); men 0.81 (0.18), p < 0.001]. Linear regressions showed women with severe migraine-related disability had reduced health utility compared to women with little to no disability [adjusted difference: -0.16 (95%CI -0.24,-0.09)]. Associations among men increased in magnitude with migraine disability level [adjusted differences: mild − 0.16 (95%CI -0.24,-0.09); moderate − 0.18 (95%CI -0.26,-0.10); severe − 0.28 (95%CI -0.37,-0.20)]. Conclusions: Findings contribute to the literature on the association between migraine disability level and HRQoL by examining trends by gender. The sexist social and cultural scenario has an impact on the formation of male identity and daily practices through pressure to reproduce stereotypes. Given this, the question arises: What are the meanings and meanings socially attributed to masculinities? And what are the impacts of this on male subjects? In general, this article aims to analyze and problematize the concepts and reverberations attributed to masculinities; In response to the guiding question, an integrative literature review was carried out, using articles found in the Virtual Health Library, considering the thematic affinity of this writing. The results demonstrated that structural machismo exerts an imposing tension to reproduce behaviors, affecting the identity of these subjects, and reverberating in violent practices and neglect of health care that leads to an increase in morbidity and mortality. Objectives: We explored participants' experiences in a randomized controlled trial that evaluated the Home-Based Intervention Strategy (HIS-UK) to improve male condom use skills/experiences. Methods: 25 men (18–25 years) who had reached the first 6 months of the intervention were interviewed. We used a codebook approach to thematic analysis to analyze the data. Results: Four themes were identified: Perceived benefits of online versus in-clinic recruitment; Perceptions of the educational content; Benefits of the condom kit; Acceptability of condom testing and monthly questionnaire. There has been growing recognition of the need to address the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of men and boys, including a need for more explicit guidance in domestic health policy and plans. This paper reports on a policy analysis, covering five East and Southern African countries, and discusses the extent and ways in which male clinical and non-clinical needs, and their roles in SRH are currently being reflected. Incarceration disproportionately impacts Black men in the United States, which can have compounding effects on mental health and substance use among this population. Cocaine use, in particular, carries higher severity of dependence and overdose risks among Black Americans, though research examining cocaine use correlates among Black incarcerated men is limited. The present study examines race-related and mental health correlates of powder cocaine use among a sample of incarcerated Black men (n = 208) using the General Strain Theory. Specifically, the present study was a secondary analysis examining race-related stress, psychological distress (i.e., anxiety and depression), and stigma about receiving psychological help as correlates of lifetime powder cocaine use. Results indicated that the likelihood of lifetime powder cocaine use was higher among those reporting lifetime psychological distress and greater race-related stress. Stigma about receiving psychological help was not significantly associated with lifetime powder cocaine use among this sample. Results of this study have important implications for substance use treatment interventions. Identifying adaptive coping strategies to manage anxiety and depression symptoms and race-related stress among incarcerated Black men may help reduce rates of cocaine use among this population and increase successful reintegration into the community post-incarceration. Previous studies have found that people with substance use disorder are associated with significantly higher odds of suicidal ideation than the general population. Psychological pain and emotional regulation are considered protective factors for suicidal ideation, but the interaction process is not clear. In this study, we investigated the effects of psychological pain on suicidal ideation and constructed a moderated mediation model. 445 men with substance use disorder in China were recruited to complete the Chinese version of the Psychological Pain Scale, Regulatory Emotional Self-efficacy Scale, Suicidal Ideation Scale, and Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale. The results demonstrated that psychological pain significantly and positively predicted suicidal ideation among people with substance use disorder, and that regulatory emotional self-efficacy played a mediating role between psychological pain and suicidal ideation. Intolerance of uncertainty moderated the top and bottom halves of the intermediate process paths. This study suggests that intolerance of uncertainty and regulatory emotional self-efficacy can be improved by interventions among people with substance use disorder, which in turn can reduce their suicidal ideation and improve quality of life. Background: There are limited studies on barriers to seeking treatment for Alcohol Use Disorders (AUD) among males in tertiary care centers in India and abroad. Identification of these factors can aid in addressing the barriers to seeking treatment for AUD in low-and-middle-income countries. Objective: To investigate the barriers to seeking treatment for AUD among males in a tertiary care center in South India. Methods: The study design was cross-sectional. We employed a semi-structured interview proforma, Barriers Questionnaire (Alcohol), and assessed the age of onset of initiation of alcohol, problem drinking, and AUD. Results: The majority (73.3%) belonged to Low-Barrier group. Individual items such as "Denial of Alcoholism", "avoid others counseling", "don't like to talk in groups", "Worried about what others will think for taking help or made fun of by others", "Self or Family embarrassed of taking treatment", "cannot afford treatment due to various reasons", "Fear of losing job", "Fear of losing friends" and "Fear of seeing people" were significantly higher in High-Barrier group. Conclusions: Our study has helped to identify some of the important impediments. Psychoeducation and reducing the stereotypes related to the treatment of AUD can increase trust in the treatment process, resulting in greater help-seeking, early intervention, and improved quality of life. Background: Premature ejaculation (PE) is a sexual disorder in men with significant prevalence among neurology patients. Epilepsy is one such condition where the prevalence of PE has been notably high. Objectives: This study aimed to compare the prevalence of PE in men with focal epilepsy and generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS). Methods: In this cross-sectional observational study, 200 patients with epilepsy were included, with 100 patients having focal epilepsy and 100 patients having GTCS. The study utilized the demographic profile form, Men's Sexual Health Questionnaire (MSHQ), Sexual Quality of Life-Men (SQOL-M), and premature ejaculation diagnostic tool (PEDT). Patients who visited specialized clinics and hospitals and met the inclusion criteria were recruited. Data were then analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Results: The results showed that the mean (SD) age of patients in the focal epilepsy group was 30.18 (3.85). The mean (SD) scores for the MSHQ, SQOL-M, and PEDT tools were 51.81 (11.98), 34.75 (9.36), and 8.63 (4.79), respectively. Although the mean (SD) PE score in the focal epilepsy group was 9.17 (4.49), higher than that of the GTCS group at 8.09 (5.04), the difference was not statistically significant. Additionally, there was a significant relationship between the PEDT score, SQOL-M score, and MSHQ score (P < 0.05). The MSHQ and SQOL-M scores were lower in patients with PE disorder. Conclusions: Sexual disorders, including PE, are significantly prevalent in both groups of patients with epilepsy. Therefore, it is essential to implement both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to reduce the incidence of PE in these patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Depression and dementia are known to be associated. The identification of characteristics distinguishing depression prodromal to dementia from other depressive symptoms would be of value for early identification of dementia. The study of risk factors for depressive symptoms prodromal to dementia could improve preventive care and provide clues to the causes of dementia. Method: Dementia‐free 82‐year‐old participants were stratified into groups that did (n = 126) and did not (n = 378) subsequently develop dementia. Examinations took place from 2003 to 2005 and follow‐up ended 1 January 2015. Their baseline characteristics and depressive symptoms, measured using the 15‐item Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS‐15), were compared. Multivariate regression analyses were performed for the two groups separately, with the total GDS‐15 score as the dependent variable. Results: The groups did not differ significantly in answers to any of the GDS‐15 questions, or mean ± SD score, which was 2.4 ± 2.5 among those who developed dementia and 2.1 ± 2.3 among those who did not. (p = 0.33). Stroke before the age of 82 years and the inability to use stairs had significant impacts on the GDS‐15 scores in both groups. For those who did not develop dementia, age, dependence in activities of daily living, and cancer also had significant impacts. Cancer had opposite associations with depressive symptoms in the two groups. Conclusions: No difference was found in depressive symptoms preceding and not preceding dementia using the GDS‐15. Issue Addressed: Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–49 (Department of Health and Aged Care Suicide in Australia, https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/mental-health-and-suicide-prevention/suicide-in-australia, 2021). With the loss of one community member impacting the individual's family, friends, and wider community. The aim of the article is to showcase a process evaluation of a place‐based approach to suicide prevention, exploring the elements of mental health training and events that can be tailored to increase engagement with the men living in a rural Local Government Area in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. Methods: Participation records and promotional material for the Local Men Local Communities project was utilised to explore similarities and differences between the training and events offered. Results: Results indicated that men living in rural areas engaged best with events that included a social element such as food or an activity, highlighting that men may find it easier to talk and connect when they have something to do. Conclusion: Mental health training and events need to be tailored to meet the needs of the target population. Key details to consider include location, time, promotional material, content, and inclusion of a social element. So What?: When rural men were provided ownership of their conversations, they were more likely to have them. Issue Addressed: Engagement with health supports benefits the whole family, yet few health services report successful engagement of fathers. Our aim was to describe available evidence on barriers and opportunities relevant to health system access for fathers. Methods: Scoping reviews were conducted seeking empirical evidence from (1) Australian studies and (2) international literature reviews. Results: A total of 52 Australian studies and 44 international reviews were included. The most commonly reported barriers were at the health service level, related to an exclusionary health service focus on mothers. These included both 'surface' factors (e.g., appointment times limited to traditional employment hours) and 'deep' factors, in which health service policies perpetuate traditional gender norms of mothers as 'caregivers' and fathers as 'supporters' or 'providers'. Such barriers were reported consistently, including but not limited to fathers from First Nations or culturally diverse backgrounds, those at risk of poor mental health, experiencing perinatal loss or other adverse pregnancy and birth events, and caring for children with illness, neurodevelopmental or behavioural problems. Opportunities for father engagement include offering father‐specific resources and support, facilitating health professionals' confidence and training in working with fathers, and 'gateway consultations', including engaging fathers via appointments for mothers or infants. Ideally, top‐down policies should support fathers as infant caregivers in a family‐based approach. Conclusions: Although barriers and opportunities exist at individual and cultural levels, health services hold the key to improved engagement of fathers. Background: Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA) fellowships offer variable experience in sexual health domains: erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease, male infertility, male hypogonadism (low testosterone), reconstruction (including male incontinence), benign prostatic hyperplasia, gender affirmation surgery, sexual mental health, and female sexual dysfunction. Aim: To evaluate baseline and postbootcamp understanding and trust in these domains. Methods: In 2023, 28 of 31 urologists currently enrolled in SMSNA-endorsed fellowships participated in a 3.5-day training bootcamp in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Participants were asked to complete pre- and postbootcamp surveys. The bootcamp curriculum offered American Urological Association guidelines and case-based lectures, hands-on clinical training with cadavers (penile surgery) and models (collagenase training), and interaction with industry. Outcomes: Changes in knowledge, independence, and trust in performing the procedures, as well as billing issues and feedback for future bootcamps. Results: Prebootcamp surveys revealed vastly varied residency experience. Reported time with an expert faculty member was greatest for benign prostatic hyperplasia and least for female sexual dysfunction, gender affirmation surgery, and low testosterone. The lowest prebootcamp confidence in performing surgery independently was for penile grafting procedures and elevating the neurovascular bundle. Postbootcamp results revealed several areas of significant improvement in confidence (P ≤ .03): intralesional injections for Peyronie's disease, manual modeling, penile plication, penile grafting procedures, and elevating the neurovascular bundle. There was a trend for improved confidence with the insertion of inflatable (P = .05) and semirigid (P = .08) penile prostheses. Nonsignificant improvement occurred in artificial urinary sphincter surgery (P = .12). Participants graded the bootcamp very highly and requested that next year's bootcamp have more content on female sexual dysfunction, male incontinence, and low testosterone, as well as more hands-on skills sessions and case-based lecture formats. Clinical Implications: Offering a bootcamp with hands-on instruction could significantly improve urologists' knowledge and confidence. Strengths and Limitations: As the main strength, this study was the first specialized bootcamp for urologists in the subject of men's health, taking into account hands-on and cadaver laboratories, as well as highlighting industrial and pharmaceutical products. The small sample size was the major limitation. Conclusions: Current SMSNA fellows present with varied levels of experience and confidence across sexual health domains. Aim: To (1) compare QT dispersion (QTd) and echocardiographic features between athletes with concentric left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy, athletes with eccentric LV hypertrophy, and sedentary controls with a normal LV geometric pattern and (2) quantify associations between QTd and echocardiographic features within these groups. Methods: Male athletes competing in different sports and sedentary men were stratified into groups according to their LV geometric pattern. These groups included eccentric LV hypertrophy (LV index > 115 g/m2, relative wall thickness [RWT] < 0.42) consisting of 38 athletes, concentric LV hypertrophy (LV index > 115 g/m2, RWT > 0.42) consisting of 40 athletes, and normal LV geometric pattern (LV index < 115 g/m2, RWT < 0.42) consisting of 40 sedentary controls. Following a cross‐sectional design, participants underwent electrocardiographic (ECG) and echocardiographic screening. Data were compared between groups using one‐way analyses of variance with Bonferroni post hoc tests. Associations between corrected QTd and echocardiographic variables were quantified using Pearson correlations. Results: Alongside structural disparities between groups, corrected QTd was significantly (p < 0.001) lower in athletes with eccentric LV hypertrophy compared to athletes with concentric LV hypertrophy and sedentary controls. Significant, moderate‐to‐very‐large correlations were found between corrected QTd and interventricular septal wall thickness in athletes with concentric (r = 0.416, p = 0.008) or eccentric LV hypertrophy (r = 0.734, p < 0.001), and sedentary controls (r = 0.464, p = 0.003). Conclusion: The provided comparative and relationship data may inform the development of more precise approaches for ECG and echocardiographic screening in athletes, particularly in those with concentric LV hypertrophy who may be at greater risk for developing prolonged QTd. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is frequently understood as a diagnosis applicable mainly to women, despite population studies suggesting similar prevalence between men and women. The scarce available information suggests that compared to women, men may face additional gender-related barriers to diagnosis and treatment when attempting to engage with support and treatment for BPD-related difficulties. The current study presents a qualitative in-depth exploration of the help-seeking and diagnosis experiences of four men with BPD. Using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis, three themes were generated: (1) "There's just no help out there": barriers to treatment; (2) self-understanding and insight; and (3) the importance of emotional and psychological connection with health care professionals and close family and friends. Having a greater understanding of male-specific experiences of BPD could improve the helpseeking journeys of men with BPD through early identification, accurate and timely diagnosis, to relevant and effective treatment and support. Masculinity is a central construct within the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinities and has been a component of a substantial amount of research. At the same time, masculinity has been examined from a variety of theoretical perspectives that exist at a range of levels of analysis (e.g., individual differences, immediate environment, societal/environmental influence). The range of theories and the variety of levels of analysis point to the complex nature of masculinity, create barriers to the integration of research findings, and hinder the field's ability to communicate and apply this research to men's lives. In this article, I present the multifaceted masculinity framework (MFMF) as a method of organizing different theoretical approaches and findings while also facilitating application and communication. The MFMF posits that focusing on four established research constructs—criteria, achievement, types, and negotiations—would achieve these goals. The MFMF is presented in full, including examples of integration within each construct, primarily in the realm of providing/breadwinning. Applications and implications of the framework for both researcher and interventionists are provided to help guide future work. Connections with intersectional approaches are addressed throughout the article. Limitations, particularly regarding the boundaries of masculinity, are addressed in some detail. Public Significance Statement: The impact of masculinity on men's lives has important implications for counseling, education, public health, and public policy. However, masculinity has been theorized from a broad range of perspectives leading to difficulties integrating research findings and communicating those findings to the public. In this article, I introduce the multifaceted masculinity framework as an organizing framework that might address these challenges. The multifaceted masculinity framework identifies four empirically supported aspects of masculinity—criteria, achievement, types, and negotiations—that are central to understanding and communicating about masculinity. Gender is one of the most essentialized social categories, with putative differences between cisgender men and cisgender women often framed in biological terms. We propose that the consequences of inaccurate and widely held essentialist beliefs about gonadal hormones (EBAGHs) in particular—that is, that androgens signify "men" and estrogens signify "not-men"—have yet to be fully appreciated. For example, placebo effects such as increased strength, sexual desire, and irritability have been documented for the androgen testosterone. Accumulating research also suggests that lay understandings exaggerate the causal importance of testosterone in men's aggression. Consequently, testosterone is often either eschewed (i.e., men are "poisoned" by it) or enshrined ("more is good, less is bad"). Moreover, the efficacy-bolstering role of estrogens such as estradiol across the physical, cognitive, and sexual health domains for men has been downplayed or ignored by those who assert pejorative links between estrogen and weakness or effeminacy. Critically, EBAGHs may fuel "hypermasculine" behaviors such as excessive red meat consumption, problematic alcohol intake, and anabolic steroid misuse as well as treatment seeking for "low T" in the absence of proper medical diagnosis—which can all, ironically, result in disrupting men's optimal hormonal balance. Implications of our analysis for research (e.g., EBAGHs as predictors men's health behaviors, use of bogus "hormonal profiles" to induce or assuage threats to masculinity in experimental studies) and interventions (e.g., "hormone education" to offset the adverse effects of EBAGHs) are discussed. Public Significance Statement: Inaccurate beliefs about gonadal hormones may cause testosterone to be either valued or devalued—and estrogen to be portrayed as the enemy—in men. Such beliefs may contribute to hypermasculine behaviors, poor diet, misguided health care, and other negative outcomes for men. Aim: To describe and interpret the sexual health experiences of men with IBD. Design: Interpretive qualitative study. Methods: In‐depth, semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 22 men with a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Interviews were digitally audio‐recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analysed using constant comparative, thematic analysis. Results: Three themes were identified from interview data: (1) the disease shapes intimate connections, (2) the disease thwarts sexual experiences and (3) the disease disrupts male gender norms. Men reported that active disease lowered libido and could change pre‐, inter‐ and post‐coital sexual practices. All participants noted that health professionals did not initiate the discussion of sexual health and well‐being needs in the outpatient hospital setting. Men who engaged in receptive anal sex reported a lack of disease‐specific guidance and understanding from professionals. Conclusion: Inflammatory bowel disease can negatively impact the sexual well‐being, gender identity and activities of men. Further research is required to identify the care preferences of men with IBD and clarify the barriers and facilitators to sexual health assessment so that nurses may better support the health needs of this population. Implications for the Profession and Patient Care: This study highlights the need for sexual health and well‐being support that is specific to disease and gender in IBD. There is a paucity of information and guidance for men with peri‐anal disease and proctitis who engage in receptive anal sex, which requires urgent attention. Valproate is the most effective treatment for idiopathic generalized epilepsy. Current guidance precludes its use in females of childbearing potential, unless other treatments are ineffective or not tolerated, because of high teratogenicity. This risk was recently extended to males. New guidance will limit use both in males and females aged <55 years, resulting in withdrawal of valproate from males already taking it, as occurs for females. Whether there are risks of personal harm (including injury or death) associated with valproate withdrawal has not yet been quantified for males or females ON valproate, meaning clinicians cannot reliably counsel either sex when discussing valproate withdrawal with them, despite that this concern may be at the forefront of patients' and clinicians' minds. We assessed whether there are any morbidity or mortality risks associated with valproate withdrawal in young males and females. We performed a retrospective cohort study of internationally derived electronic health data within the TriNetX Global Collaborative Network. Included were males and females aged 16–54 years with ≥1 epilepsy disease or symptom code between 1 December 2017 and 1 December 2018, and ≥2 valproate prescriptions over the preceding 2 years (1 January 2015–30 November 2017). Five-year propensity-matched risks of mortality and a range of morbidity outcomes were compared between those remaining ON versus withdrawn from valproate during the 1 December 2017–1 December 2018 recruitment period, regardless of whether switched to another antiseizure medication. Survival analysis was undertaken using Cox-proportional hazard models, generating hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). In total, 8991 males and 5243 females taking valproate were recruited. Twenty-eight per cent of males and 36% of females were subsequently withdrawn from valproate. Valproate withdrawal was associated with significantly increased risks of emergency department attendance [HRs overall: 1.236 (CI 1.159–1.319), males: 1.181 (CI 1.083–1.288), females: 1.242 (CI 1.125–1.371)], hospital admission [HRs overall: 1.160 (CI 1.081–1.246), males: 1.132 (CI 1.027–1.249), females: 1.147 (CI 1.033–1.274)], falls [HRs overall: 1.179 (CI 1.041–1.336), males: 1.298 (CI 1.090–1.546)], injuries [HRs overall: 1.095 (CI 1.021–1.174), males: 1.129 (CI 1.029–1.239)], burns [HRs overall: 1.592 (CI 1.084–2.337)] and new-onset depression [HRs overall 1.323 (CI 1.119–1.565), females: 1.359 (CI 1.074–1.720)]. The risk of these outcomes occurring was 1%–7% higher in those withdrawn from valproate than in those remaining ON valproate. Overall, valproate withdrawal was not associated with increased mortality. Aim: To assess the efficacy of intratesticular injection of autologous platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) in men with non‐obstructive azoospermia (NOA) and a history of failed microdissection‐testicular sperm extraction (mTESE) procedures. Methods: A prospective case series of a cohort study was conducted involving couples diagnosed with NOA. Patients with at least one failed mTESE procedure were included. Intratesticular PRP injection was performed using a standardized protocol. Follow‐up assessments included sperm analysis, hormonal evaluation, and in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. Results: Data from 177 men with NOA were analyzed, with 135 patients meeting eligibility criteria. PRP treatment resulted in positive sperm retrieval rates of 27.5% in patients with one prior failed mTESE procedure and 16.4% in patients with two or more failed attempts. IVF outcomes showed fertilization rates of 86.4% and 100.0% in respective groups, with pregnancy rates of 36.8% and 22.2% per embryo transfer. Histopathological examination post‐mTESE revealed varied patterns, including Sertoli cell‐only syndrome and maturation arrest. Conclusions: Intratesticular PRP injection shows promise as a potential therapeutic approach for NOA patients with prior failed mTESE procedures, demonstrating improved sperm retrieval rates and favorable IVF outcomes. Further randomized controlled trials are warranted to validate these findings and refine the technique's efficacy in male infertility management to answer the question of whether PRP could significantly improve the second attempt retrieval rate. Background: Efforts to engage boys and young men in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in Sweden remain limited, with only a small proportion accessing youth clinics, the primary providers of such services. Existing initiatives are often ad-hoc and lack institutionalization within public policy and practice. This study aims to identify feasible and effective interventions to improve boys' and young men's access to youth clinics in Sweden. Methods: Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study investigates interventions, strategies, and factors influencing access to SRH services for boys and young men in Sweden. Firstly, a systematic literature review will be conducted to identify evaluated interventions globally. Secondly, strategies to attracts boys and young men in youth clinics in Sweden will be mapped. Thirdly, case studies in two regions in Sweden – chosen for their demographic and geographic diversity – will be conducted interviewing healthcare providers, managers, policymakers, and boys and young men. Lastly, Q-methodology will be used to rank all identified strategies. Healthcare providers and managers will rank these strategies based on their perceived effectiveness and feasibility while boys and young men will rank the interventions based on perceived effectiveness. Discussion: The added value of this project is generating robust evidence regarding boys and young men's involvement in SRH services, especially their access to youth clinics. This is crucial for (1) developing gender-sensitive services and service delivery models that effectively promote young men's SRH; (2) informing future young men's health policies ensuring that their unique SRH concerns are addressed; and (3) improving young men's participation in SRH provision. Reproductive medicine has made significant advancements over the last 70 years, much of it in the way of female contraception. Reliable male contraception continues to be restricted to condoms and vasectomy. The purpose of this narrative review is to provide an overview of the contemporary usage of male contraceptive methods, including ethical and political standpoints, as well as to summarize current and future studies being done on male hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptive options. Sexual violence against men has been significantly overlooked, and under-researched, with minimal attention paid to the influence of culture and ethnicity on survivors' experiences of abuse. This rapid review examines prevalence, disclosure, help-seeking, and criminal justice experiences of Black and Asian male survivors in the United Kingdom. Eight empirical studies published since 2003 involving Black and Asian sexual violence survivors were included through comprehensive database searches, including gray literature and reference lists. Findings suggest prevalence data underestimate the true extent of victimization in ethnic minority groups in the United Kingdom. Barriers to disclosure and help-seeking were associated with specific cultural factors unique to Black and Asian male experiences, as revealed by three qualitative studies. However, accessing and reporting to the criminal justice system remains largely unexplored for Black and Asian male survivors. Methodological limitations within existing studies emphasize the urgent need for substantial, high-quality research that addresses issues with inconsistent definitions, measurements, and lack of ethnic-specific approaches across prevalence, disclosure, help-seeking, and criminal justice experiences. Culturally informed professional training emerges as a critical requirement to sensitively address the unique challenges faced by ethnic minority male survivors. Additionally, targeted outreach initiatives hold the potential to engage minority male survivors more effectively. A collaborative, system-wide approach is vital to bring to the forefront the overlooked experiences of ethnic minority males, thereby promoting an environment of support, understanding, and recovery. Programs that engage men and boys in health promotion and violence prevention are proliferating. Many aim to foster "healthy masculinities", using education and support to involve men and boys in adopting more positive or gender-equitable forms of selfhood and relating. This paper offers a critical stocktake of 15 such programs in one state in Australia, assessing them against common standards for gender-transformative programming among men and boys. The programs are diverse in their aims and approaches and their understandings of men and gender. There were common themes, that men's and boys' lives are constrained by typical constructions of masculinity and that there are widespread gender inequalities that disadvantage women and girls, although the balance between these differed among programs. This paper articulates the significance of critically analyzing these programs through a gender transformative lens to discern their utility in supporting gender justice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA)-based prostate cancer screening is a preference-sensitive decision for which experts recommend a shared decision making (SDM) approach. This study aimed to examine PSA screening SDM in primary care. Methods included qualitative analysis of audio-recorded patient-provider interactions supplemented by quantitative description. Participants included 5 clinic providers and 13 patients who were: (1) 40–69 years old, (2) Black, (3) male, and (4) attending clinic for routine primary care. Main measures were SDM element themes and "observing patient involvement in decision making" (OPTION) scoring. Some discussions addressed advantages, disadvantages, and/or scientific uncertainty of screening, however, few patients received all SDM elements. Nearly all providers recommended screening, however, only 3 patients were directly asked about screening preferences. Few patients were asked about prostate cancer knowledge (2), urological symptoms (3), or family history (6). Most providers discussed disadvantages (80%) and advantages (80%) of PSA screening. Average OPTION score was 25/100 (range 0–67) per provider. Our study found limited SDM during PSA screening consultations. The counseling that did take place utilized components of SDM but inconsistently and incompletely. We must improve SDM for PSA screening for diverse patient populations to promote health equity. This pilot study evaluated a novel psycho-educational group intervention addressing sexuality and intimacy issues among male heterosexual individuals with mental health conditions. Despite the universal need for fulfilling relationships, stigma and lack of support often distort views and promote high-risk behaviors in this population. A cognitive-behavioral framework was used in a six-session program to enhance knowledge and promote healthy sexuality among six participants recruited from an integrated vocational rehabilitation service center in Hong Kong. Quantitative pre- and post-testing alongside qualitative observations revealed that participants significantly improved their understanding of relationships, communication skills, and ability to identify safe practices. Limitations included the small, exclusively heterosexual male sample and evaluation methods. As sexuality is an important yet under-researched topic impacting this population's quality of life, these findings suggest structured group interventions may equip individuals with adaptive tools for intimacy. In this study, we applied an intersectional framework to explore service providers' perspectives on the mental health needs of newcomer young men. We conducted focus groups and interviews with 26 service providers in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver, Canada. Findings show that service providers made sense of young men's mental health needs and service access in the context of systems. We identified three interconnected themes: newcomer young men's senses of self in relation to macro-systems, including racism and economic marginalization; settling well as a determinant of mental health; and systems capacities and interdependent resilience. While service providers are engaged in cross-sectoral work in support of newcomer young men's mental health, this work is not being sufficiently supported. Further work is needed around cross-sector capacity bridging and advocacy, as well as the tailoring of services to young men without the assumption and reinforcement of gender stereotypes.
