HYPERONS ,MESONS ,MEASUREMENT ,FACILITIES - Abstract
First results on the polarization of hyperons inclusively produced on 26.5-GeV/c and beams are presented. The measurements were carried out using the SPASCHARM setup at the U-70 accelerator facility (Protvino, Russia) on nuclear targets in 2021 and 2022. The polarization of an hyperon on the beam does not exceed several percent in most of the studied kinematic region. The data obtained on the -meson beam exhibit a significant positive polarization at large values of the Feynman variable x
F and transverse momentum pT measured for the first time on nuclei. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Single spin asymmetry in inclusive $\pi^0$-production was measured in the polarized target fragmentation region using 50 GeV proton beam. The asymmetry is in agreement with asymmetry measurements in the polarized beam fragmentation region carried out at higher energies. The first stage of the proposed polarization program SPASCHARM includes the measurements of the single-spin asymmetry (SSA) in exclusive and inclusive reactions with production of stable hadrons and the light meson and baryon resonances.In this study we foresee of using the variety of the unpolarized beams (pions, kaons, protons and antiprotons) in the energy range of 30-60 GeV. The polarized proton and deuteron targets will be used for revealing the flavor and isotopic spin dependencies of the polarization phenomena. Physics - Instrumentation and Detectors - Abstract
The fine-sampling electromagnetic calorimeter prototype has been experimentally tested using the 1-19 GeV/c tagged beams of negatively charged particles at the U70 accelerator at IHEP, Protvino. The energy resolution measured by electrons is Delta{E}/E=2.8%/\sqrt{E} + 1.3%. The position resolution for electrons is Delta{x}=3.1 + 15.4/sqrt{E} mm in the center of the cell. The lateral non-uniformity of the prototype energy response to electrons and MIPs has turned out to be negligible. Obtained experimental results are in a good agreement with Monte-Carlo simulations., Comment: Article is prepared for pdflatex using the class elsart. 13 pages, 9 figures in 11 PDF files

We report the first inclusive photon measurements about mid-rapidity (|y| photon photon decay channel. The fractional contribution of the pi0 -> photon photon decay to the inclusive photon spectrum decreases by 20% +/- 5% between pt = 1.65 GeV/c and pt = 2.4 GeV/c in the most central events, indicating that relative to pi0 -> photon photon decay the contribution of other photon sources is substantially increasing., 13 pages, 14 figures, submitted to Phys. Data on the single-spin asymmetry (A
N ) of inclusive π0 production in 40-GeV pion interactions with a polarized target, π– + p↑ → π0 + X, are presented for the target-fragmentation region. The result is AN = (–13.8 ± 3.8)% for –0.8 < xF < –0.4 and 1 < pT < 2 GeV/c and is compatible with zero for –0.4 < xF < –0.1 and 0.5 < pT < 1.5 GeV/c. At a π0 momentum of about 1.7 GeV/c in the c.m. frame, the asymmetry becomes nonzero both in the central and in the target-fragmentation region. The behavior of the asymmetry is similar to that observed in the beam-fragmentation region of the E-704 (FNAL, 200 GeV) and STAR (BNL, 20 TeV) experiments, which employed a polarized proton beam.© 2004 MAIK “Nauka / Interperiodica”. Inclusive production ofK
0 andK* (892)0 mesons inK+ A-interactions (A=Be, Cu, Pb) at the energy 11.2 GeV has been investigated to study hadronisation of the leading-quark; the results are presented. Double differential cross sections d
2 s/dxf dpt 2 were measured in the region of incident particle fragmentation (0.4?xf ?1,pt ?0.5 GeV/c). The experimental data obtained were analysed on the basis of the Lund model FRITIOF and a quark-gluon model that takes into account colour screening and hadron formation length effects. The experimental data confirm the picture of hadronisation of the leading-quark developed in the latter model.
