Abstract

Objetivo: Trata-se de uma pesquisa (meta)documental, na forma de uma biobibliografia, do bibliotecário russo Nicolas Roubakine (1862-1946), fundador da chamada Bibliopsicologia (ou Psicologia Bibliológica), citada em estudos sobre a leitura na Rússia e na França. Apresentam-se, panoramicamente, vida e obra de Roubakine. O objetivo é analisar em quais territórios bibliográficos nacionais se encontram repercutidas a figura e a teoria roubakiniana. Constatada a escassa apropriação pela literatura científica no Brasil, optou-se pela pesquisa em fontes de informação de diferentes naturezas, no percurso que vai da investigação das bases especializadas às fontes gerais. Método: Esta reflexão é teórica, exploratória e de abordagem quanti-qualitativa. O corpus está baseado em fontes gerais documentais primárias coletadas na Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira, mantida pela Fundação Biblioteca Nacional, examinada através de análise métrica de seus metadados. O marco epistemológico é produzido a partir de Marianna Choldin, Gustavo Saldanha, Robert Estivals, Sylva Simsova e Elena Savova. A proposta metodológica de inovação da pesquisa está vinculada à triangulação da noção de biobibliografia, fontes primárias nacionais e do “território-Roubakine nos trópicos” (vida e obra do teórico russo). Resultados: A pesquisa aponta para uma genealogia do pensamento roubakiniano no Brasil que segue um caminho diferente da literatura científica e especializada, da sua ausência no plano acadêmico-científico tradicional da comunicação científica, partindo dos resultados recuperados nas fontes gerais de informação e suas diferentes formas de apropriação das noções elaboradas e/ou discutidas por Roubakine. Conclusões: Ao considerar a ausência de uma sólida doxografia sobre o pensamento roubakiniano na literatura científica internacional perante condicionantes históricas e biográficas que envolveram a circulação das ideias do autor, o estudo sugere emergência na apropriação e disseminação das teorias revolucionárias em seu espaço-tempo - através da leitura como forma de transformação social - do teórico russo pela comunidade do campo da Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação.

Abstract

International audience; This paper presents the construction of a multi-fidelity metamodel in the context of safety analysis. A kriging-based meta-model is built from finite element computations for several realizations of random variables.This metamodel is then used to estimate the probability of failure of the mechanical structure. The use of discretization error estimators enables to guarantee the state (failure or safety) of the structure at the design points and to adapt the size of the mesh used for the simulations. We illustrate this approach on a 2D mechanical problem of a cracked plate.; Ce papier propose la construction d'un méta-modèle multi-fidélité pour l'évaluation de la probabilité de défaillance d'une structure mécanique. Un méta-modèle se basant sur le krigeage est construit à partir d'évaluations de l'état-limite pour plusieurs réalisations de variables aléatoires. L'exploitation d'estimateurs de l'erreur de discrétisation permet de garantir le signe de l'état-limite en ces points et d'adapter la taille du maillage des simulations éléments finis. Une illustration sur une plaque fissurée avec une variable aléatoire est réalisée.

Abstract

High performance liquid chromatography was used to determine plasma and peritoneal fluid ceftriaxone levels after both parenteral administration and peritoneal irrigation with ceftriaxone. Ceftriaxone in amounts greater than the minimum inhibitory concentration effective against E. coli was detected in plasma of rats that received peritoneal irrigation with 1000 mg/l ceftriaxone solution; there was no ceftriaxone present in plasma of rats that received peritoneal irrigation with 10 mg/l ceftriaxone solution. Lastly, ceftriaxone irrigation was not associated with any increase in the incidence of intraabdominal adhesions in this rat model.... Antibiotic, Endotoxin, Peritoneal, Absorption.

38. The association between greater continuity of care and timely measles-mumps-rubella vaccination.

Abstract

OBJECTIVES: This study assessed whether greater continuity of care is associated with timely administration of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination. METHODS: We studied 11,233 patients continuously enrolled in Group Health Cooperative (GHC) from birth to 15 months. We used a preestablished index to quantify continuity of care based on the number of primary care providers in relation to the number of clinic visits. MMR vaccination status at 15 months was assessed with automated immunization data systems at GHC. RESULTS: In a logistic regression model, both medium continuity (odds ratio [OR] = 1.20, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.08, 1.33) and high continuity (OR = 1.36, 95% CI = 1.22, 1.52) were associated with increased likelihood of being immunized by 15 months compared with patients in the lowest tercile of continuity of care. CONCLUSION: Greater continuity of care is associated with more timely immunization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

High-performance liquid chromatography was used to separate and identify cellular fatty acids isolated from Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a gram negative estuarine microorganism associated with seafood-borne enteritis in man. Fatty acids were isolated from statically grown bacterial cultures, saponified, and derivatized with an ultraviolet tag. Aliquots of derivatized fatty acids were injected onto a reversed-phase column with water:acetonitrile gradient as the mobile phase and ultraviolet detection at 254 nm. The predominant fatty acids found for the V. parahaemolyticus strains studied were C12, C14, C16:1, C16, C18:1, and C18. In addition, previously unreported fatty acids C13, C17, C19, and C21 were identified. Comparison of HPLC with GLC fatty acid separations showed good agreement with the exception that HPLC was able to resolve previously unidentified fatty acid constituents. (Author)
