This paper explores the possibility of gold and Bitcoin acting as safe haven investments during the Corona pandemic. To answer the research question the authors use OLS-, GARCH-, and TGARCH-models. The S&P 500 stock- and S&P U.S. Aggregate bond-indexes are used as a measure of the performance on U.S. stock- and bond-market. Safe haven assets have a negative beta during turbulent times and therefore the period of 2020-01-01 to 2022-03-31 will be analyzed. A period of five years leading up to the pandemic as well as the turbulent time period will be used as an average to enable comparison between regular and trying times. The results conclude that neither Bitcoin nor gold can be viewed as safe haven assets. However, it is found that both assets can work as diversifiers in the two markets.

In order to cope with the changing climate, there will be a need for mitigating transformations of a scope, speed and magnitude that are unprecedented in human history, but the consensus- and market-driven approach is inhibiting this transformation. This thesis reviews how various discourses and debates on energy policy within Swedish governments have changed between 1974 and 2017, through the lenses of energy security and depoliticisation, and how a better understanding of these debates and discourses may inform the impending large-scale transformation required to meet the challenge of climate change. Some of the main findings are that (1) nuclear power and the result of the nuclear power referendum have been decisive for energy policy, and that nuclear power will remain of vital importance in the twenty-first century. (2) Energy has become increasingly depoliticised since the 1980s, ensuing the referendum on nuclear power. (3) The discourse on energy security has shifted towards market-based solutions: in the 2000s, climate change is to be mitigated through consumer- oriented solutions such as green certificates. Through privatisation, it essentially has become up to the consumer, deciding whether to participate in mitigation of climate change.

Mycket händer i Norra Sorgenfri. Det här arbetet syftar till att sätta omvandlingen under lupp och att granska möjligheterna för ett inkluderande stadsliv i området. Vissa forskare hävdar att Malmö segregeras och att fler malmöbor lever i en marginalposition. Avsikterna med omvandlingen är goda och det verkar på planer och program som att stadsdelen kan bli ett område för hela Malmö. Det är dock viktigt att diskutera hur området skulle kunna fungera som mötesplats och boendemiljö. Målet med arbetet är att undersöka hur värdena mångfald, goda mötesplatser och inkludering hanteras i planarbetet. Går det att se ifall planer och program för Norra Sorgenfri kommer att främja ett inkluderande, mångfaldigt stadsliv? I granskningen av visionsdokumentet framkom tendenser på att boendesegregation i staden inte behöver hanteras i området. Boendesegregation är en naturlig process och det verkliga problemet är istället bristen på möten. Norra Sorgenfri ska byggas som en funktionsblandad innerstad och innerstaden betraktas i planarbetet som den främsta mötesplatsen. Det socialt blandade boende ges låg status i planer och program. Planprogrammet ger en bild av att området byggs för resursstarka grupper. Området kan bli en ”livsstilsstadsdel” med spektakulära boendeformer. Området ska bli en framgångsrik mötesplats genom en blandning av funktioner, platser och aktörer. Det här perspektivet tyder på att det planeras för en innerstad där människor från olika socioekonomiska grupper ska mötas, inte bo tillsammans. Arbetet är ett kandidatarbete på 15 högskolepoäng, på utbildningen fysisk planering. Det har skrivits under våren 2014 vid Blekinge tekniska högskola.

This Bachelors thesis has been written with the goal to learn how five Namibian newspapers are portraying ethnic minorities. A secondary goal has been to earn knowledge in how Namibian journalists think when writing about ethnic minorities. The analysed newspaper, Informanté, Namibian Sun, New Era, The Namibian and Windhoek Observer, are all written in English and has their head offices in the capital of Namibia, Windhoek. Both editors and reporters have been interviewed from these five newspapers.Two methods have been used in this thesis. Quantitative content analysis of articles found in newspapers during three weeks in November, 2011, a total of 55 articles were found containing the names of minorities. A qualitative method of interviews was then conducted with reporters and editors at the newspapers that were part of the research.The main theories of the thesis are Denis McQuail‟s version of agenda-setting, McQuail‟s theory on communicator-audience relations and Teun A. van Dijk‟s theory about the media‟s role as a reproductive part in the construction of stereotypes.The results show that 12.3 % of the analysed articles are mentioning ethnic minorities. In these, persons from the minorities seldom play an active part. The most featured minority was the Herero. Politics is the dominant subject in articles mentioning ethnic minorities, followed by racism/tribalism and tribal culture.In the interviews with the Namibian journalists, it is evident that there is a great will to emphasize the issues of the ethnic minorities. Most journalists regard their role as important in influencing people and therefore have a responsibility towards their readers.

Arbetet du nu läser är ett samarbete mellan badkarsföretaget Dimma ochdesignstudenten Erik Melin från Malmö högskola. Det är en kandidatuppsats iämnet produktdesign och behandlar studier i designämnet, med fokus påbadkarsdesign.Projektet går ut på att hitta en lösning som gör att företaget Dimma - som ärspecialiserade på badkar - kan tilltala kunder som hellre köper dusch än badkar.Problemet som skall lösas är hur man på bästa sätt kombinerar en dusch och ettbadkar - för att tjäna maximalt med plats och vinna nya kunder till företaget.Lösning är en: utrymmesbesparande badkarsprodukt där en speciell fällprincipgör att karet kan förvaras hängande när det inte används. Produkten kanbeskrivas som en badbalja för vuxna där det sittande badet utforskas.Metoderna som används är litteraturstudier i följande ämnen:utrymmesbesparande designlösningar, materialkunskap, antropologi ochvarumärkesstrategi. Insamlingen av data görs genom intervjuer och enkäter ochden kreativa metod som används är; skissen - som verktyg för produktutvecklingoch idégenerering. This bachelor thesis is a cooperation between Erik Melin, a product design studentfrom the university of Malmö and the bath tub company Dimma. The goal is to developa product that offers a compact living solution. The product is supposed tobe a combination of bath tub and a shower. With this solution the company wantsto attract customers who, up until now choose to buy a shower.The solution is a collapsible bath tub where an innovative method is used to savespace in small bathrooms.The methods being used is studies in the field of, collapsible design solutions, materialscience, anthropology and branding where the collection of data is done byinterviews and surveys. Also, there is a range of specific design methods used todevelop a suiting bathing concept.

Digital geometry is the geometry of digital images. Compared to Euclid’s geometry, which has been studied for more than two thousand years, this field is very young. Efim Khalimsky’s topology on the integers, invented in the 1970s, is a digital counterpart of the Euclidean topology on the real line. The Khalimsky topology became widely known to researchers in digital geometry and computer imagery during the early 1990s. Suppose that a continuous function is defined on a subspace of an n-dimensional Khalimsky space. One question to ask is whether this function can be extended to a continuous function defined on the whole space. We solve this problem. A related problem is to characterize the subspaces on which every continuous function can be extended. Also this problem is solved. We generalize and solve the extension problem for integer-valued, Khalimsky-continuous functions defined on arbitrary smallest-neighborhood spaces, also called Alexandrov spaces. The notion of a digital straight line was clarified in 1974 by Azriel Rosenfeld. We introduce another type of digital straight line, a line that respects the Khalimsky topology in the sense that a line is a topological embedding of the Khalimsky line into the Khalimsky plane. In higher dimensions, we generalize this construction to digital Khalimsky hyperplanes, surfaces and curves by digitization of real objects. In particular we study approximation properties and topological separation properties. The last paper is about Khalimsky manifolds, spaces that are locally homeomorphic to n-dimensional Khalimsky space. We study different definitions and address basic questions such as uniqueness of dimension and existence of certain manifolds.
