Background: We conducted the present study to assess the practice of breast selfexamination (BSE) among Debre Tabor University female undergraduate students, northcentral Ethiopia using health belief model (HBM). Method: The current institution-based cross-sectional study was carried out among a total of 341 students. Simple random sampling technique was employed to select the study participants. We also used self-administered pretested questionnaires and constructs of HBM for collecting data. Binary and multivariable logistic regression were utilized to identify BSE-associated factors. Statistical significance was stated at P value < 0.05. Results: Approximately 45% of the participants had a fair level of knowledge about breast cancer (BC), but only 17% were actually performing BSE practice. The odds of practicing BSE were found to be higher among the participants who had information about BSE practice adjusted odds ratio (AOR)=7.21, 95% confidence interval (CI): (2.46, 21.15)), perceived susceptibility (AOR=14.18, 95% CI:(4.00, 50.48)), self-efficacy (AOR=3.07, 95% CI: (1.09, 8.70)), cue to action (AOR=3.68,95% CI: (1.17, 11.56)), and net benefit (AOR=7.75, 95% CI: (1.56, 38.55)) compared with counterparts. Whereas, the odds of practicing BSE were found to be lower among those who had poor knowledge of BC (AOR=0.08, 95% CI: (0.03, 0.23)) compared with counterparts. Conclusion: In this study, knowledge regarding BC and BSE practice was observed to be low. Knowledge about BC, having information on BSE, perceived susceptibility, self-confidence, and cue to action were found to be independent predictors of BSE practice. Providing targeted information about BSE is the best method of changing the behavioral intention of university students about BC and BSE practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. Under -treatment of pain continues to be a major health care problem in Ethiopia. Although it has this problem, it receives limited research attention. This systematic review and meta-analysis will provide valuable insights of prevalence and its factors of healthcare providers' pain management practice in Ethiopia. Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Universal online databases such as PubMed, Cochrane, Google, Google Scholar, SCOPUS, Web of Science and Global Health were used to search for articles. Microsoft Excel for data extraction and STATA17 for data analysis were used. DerSimonian and Laird random-effects model was used to pool the odds ratios across studies and compute the overall pooled prevalence and its predictors. Egger's test with funnel plot symmetry and Cochrane's Q test was used to assess publication bias and heterogeneity respectively. Results: The overall pooled prevalence of health care providers' pain management practice was 39.6% (95% CI: 34.8, 44.5); I2 = 97.0%; P<0.001). Availability of pain management protocol (AOR = 5.1, 95%CI: 3.6, 6.7), Accessibility of analgesia (AOR = 4.5, 95%CI: 1.96, 7.0), higher educational level (AOR = 3.3, 95%CI: 2.5, 4.1), being female (AOR = 1.2, 95% CI: 1.6, 3.1), took training (AOR = 2.7, 95% CI: 1.8, 3.6), decreased work load (AOR = 4.9, 95% CI: -1.9, 11.7), increased work experience (AOR = 3.9, 95% CI: 2.9, 5.1), Being midwifery profession (AOR = 2.5,95% CI: 1.6, 3.4), having good attitude (AOR = 3.9,95%CI: 2.5, 5.4) and being knowledgeable (AOR = 4.2, 95%CI: 2.8, 5.6) of health care providers towards pain management practice were significantly associated in Ethiopia. Conclusion: The overall prevalence of pain management practice among healthcare providers in Ethiopia is low compared with a national target of pain free hospital initiatives in Ethiopia. Background: A decrease in obtaining quality healthcare is a major cause of maternal and newborn deaths in low-income and middle-income countries. Ethiopia has one of the highest neonatal mortality rates. Increasing mothers' health-seeking practices related to neonatal danger signs is an essential strategy for reducing the death rate of newborns. However, the pooled prevalence of mothers' health-seeking practices related to neonatal danger signs is not well known in Ethiopia., Objective: The main aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the mothers' health-seeking practices and associated factors towards neonatal danger signs in Ethiopia., Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis., Primary and Secondary Outcomes: The primary outcome was to assess the mothers' health-seeking practices towards neonatal danger signs and the secondary outcome was to identify factors associated with health-seeking practices., Methods: In total, comprehensive literature was searched in the PubMed, Google Scholar, HINARI, Embase and CINAHL databases published up to 30 December 2023. A random effect model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence and adjusted OR (AOR). Stata (V.17.0) was used to analyse the data. I 2 statistics were computed to assess heterogeneity among studies. To minimise the underlying heterogeneity, a subgroup analysis was conducted based on the study region and year of publication. To assess publication bias, Egger's test and funnel plots were used., Results: Overall, 1011 articles were retrieved, and 11 cross-sectional studies, with a total of 5066 study participants, were included in this systematic review. The overall pooled prevalence of mothers' health-seeking practices for neonatal danger signs in Ethiopia was 52.15%. Postnatal care follow-up (AOR 2.72; 95% CI 1.62 to 4.56), good maternal knowledge (AOR 3.20, 95% CI 2.24 to 4.56), educational status of secondary school and above (AOR 4.17, 95% CI 2.04 to 8.55), women's decision-making autonomy (AOR 3.59, 95% CI 1.60 to 8.06) and place of delivery (AOR 2.71, 95% CI 1.21 to 6.04) were significantly associated with mothers' health-seeking practices for neonatal danger signs., Conclusion: The maternal health-seeking practices of women towards neonatal danger signs were found to be low in Ethiopia.
