Osteoporosis, closely related to age, is characterized by impaired bone mass and bone strength, damage of bone microstructure, resulting in a higher risk of fractures with minimal trauma, especially in the hip and spine. Quercetin (Que), a natural compound, has previously demonstrated its potential anti-osteoporosis effects via promoting bone formation and anti-bone resorption. However, Que is poor water solubility, lack of bone targeting, and requires high concentration to exert its therapeutic effects. In this work, a pH-responsive and bone-targeted nanomedicine HCCP-Que-PEG-ALN (HQPA) was developed via using hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP) as the cross-linkage, Que, alendronate (ALN), and amino-polyethylene glycol (NH2-PEG) as other building blocks. We demonstrated that HQPA can form spherical nanoparticles in aqueous solution with average size of 158.3 ± 59.8 nm with high drug loading capacity of Que (31.4 w/w%) and obvious bone-targeting capability. in vitro experimental results indicated that HQPA NPs have dual anti-osteoporosis effects of promoting osteoblasts and inhibiting osteoclasts. Furthermore, HQPA NPs can effectively reduce the bone loss in OVX mice with low toxicity to major organs. We believe that this method should be a general and useful route for fabrication of bone-targeted natural-compounds-based nanomedicines for treatment different bone-related diseases.

The aim of this study was to explore the feasibility of quantitatively evaluating a sapphire’s color by analyzing gemstone images. The color characteristics of gemstones through photography and color extraction were accurately captured, and the key color parameters for different color regions of gemstones were extracted. Then, the color of sapphires was simulated by statistical method and function simulation method. The results indicate that the brightness value of the bright area was the highest and the chroma value of the “fire” area was the highest. The chroma (C) of the sapphires was linearly positively correlated with the absolute value of its b value, and the brightness (L) showed a quadratic correlation with its chromaticity parameters (b or C). The function simulation method with an average of b as the main independent variable had a larger standard deviation, which proves that this method has a stronger ability to distinguish the differences in a sapphire’s color. This method can be extended to the color evaluation of other colored gemstones, and it can be used to form a gemstone color evaluation system.

In recent years, the ethylene-mediated ripening and softening of non-climacteric fruits have been widely mentioned. In this paper, recent research into the ethylene-mediated ripening and softening of non-climacteric fruits is summarized, including the involvement of ethylene biosynthesis and signal transduction. In addition, detailed studies on how ethylene interacts with other hormones to regulate the ripening and softening of non-climacteric fruits are also reviewed. These findings reveal that many regulators of ethylene biosynthesis and signal transduction are linked with the ripening and softening of non-climacteric fruits. Meanwhile, the perspectives of future research on the regulation of ethylene in non-climacteric fruit are also proposed. The overview of the progress of ethylene on the ripening and softening of non-climacteric fruit will aid in the identification and characterization of key genes associated with ethylene perception and signal transduction during non-climacteric fruit ripening and softening.

Sunlight exposure of grape clusters is frequently reported to influence grape aromas greatly. Among them, the effects of full shading (FS) of clusters on fruit quality and volatile compounds in grape berries has scarcely been investigated. In the present study, the effects of FS from véraison to ripeness on fruit quality and volatile compounds in Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were studied. The results showed that FS treatment reduced fruit size and berry weight, delayed fruit maturity, and decreased the contents of anthocyanins, phenols, and tannins in grape berries. In addition, volatile compounds in grape berries were analyzed, and 55 and 53 volatile compounds were detected in the control (CK) and FS groups, respectively. The results indicated that the concentrations of straight-chain fatty aldehydes, straight-chain fatty alcohols, straight-chain fatty acids, and branched-chain fatty acids, norisoprenoids, and total concentration of volatile compounds were all higher in FS group than in CK group. Specifically, FS treatment had significant promoting effects on the concentrations of β-damascenone, terpineol, 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, and 2-hexenal, and remarkably decreased the concentrations of geranial, benzeneacetaldehyde, neral, and ethyl acetate. Partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) revealed a clear separation between the control (CK) and FS groups, and showed that 2-hexenal and hexanal were the main characteristic aroma compounds in the FS group. Moreover, an increase in the intensity of fruity, herbaceous, floral, and mushroom aromas was recorded in FS grapes. This study provides new insights into the effects of the exclusion of sunlight exposure on volatile compound accumulation in grape berries.

The gaseous phytohormone ethylene (ETH) plays a key role in plant growth and development, and is a major regulator of phenolic biosynthesis. Light has long been known to influence phytohormone signaling transduction. However, whether light influences the effect of ETH on the phenolic composition of grapes (Vitis vinifera L.) is an open question. Here, the accumulation and composition of anthocyanins and non-anthocyanin phenolics were analyzed in Cabernet Sauvignon grapes under four treatments: light exposure with and without ETH treatment, and box-shading with and without ETH treatment. Both light and ETH promoted ripening, decreased the color index (L*, C*, and h*), and accelerated the color change from green to red and purplish red. Sunlight-exposed grapes had the highest contents of most anthocyanins, flavonols, flavan-3-ols, and hydroxybenzoic acids. In addition, light exposure increased the ratios of 3’5’-substituted/3’-substituted anthocyanins and flavonols, but decreased the ratios of methoxylated/non-methoxylated and acylated/non-acylated anthocyanins and flavan-3-ols. Notably, the effects of ETH were influenced by light exposure. Specifically, ETH treatment promoted anthocyanin and non-anthocyanin biosynthesis in light-exposed grapes, and their increasing multiples were remarkably higher under light-exposed conditions. Furthermore, ETH treatment decreased the ratios of methoxylated/non-methoxylated, 3’5’-substituted/3’-substituted, and acylated/non-acylated anthocyanins and flavan-3-ols in light-exposed grapes, each of which was increased by ETH treatment in shaded grapes. Fifteen differential phenolic components were identified through partial least-squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). Among them, cyanidin-3-O-(cis-6-O-coumaryl)-glucoside, petunidin-3-O-(6-O-acetyl)-glucoside, petunidin-3-O-(trans-6-O-coumaryl)-glucoside, petunidin-3-O-glucoside, myricetin-3-O-galactoside, kaempferol-3-O-galactoside, and kaempferol-3-O-glucoside were the main differential components between ETH treatments under different light conditions. This study contributes to the understanding of the impact of ethylene treatment under dark and light conditions on phenolic synthesis in grape berries.

Soil microorganisms are important components of soil ecosystems, and their diversity plays an important role in maintaining their functional stability. Organic fertilizer is an important measure for improving soil fertility in agronomic practice. The effects of organic fertilizer on soil microbial diversity and community structure are different with different degrees of maturation. In this study, uncomposted organic fertilizer (R), high-temperature organic fertilizer (H), cooling organic fertilizer (C), and decomposed organic fertilizer (D) were applied, and the 16S rRNA gene sequences of bacteria in soil were analyzed via high-throughput sequencing technology to understand the effects of organic fertilizer with different degrees of maturation on bacterial diversity and community structure in saline soil. Compared with no fertilization, the uncomposted organic fertilizer, high-temperature organic fertilizer, and decomposed organic fertilizer treatments significantly reduced soil bacterial diversity: the decomposed organic fertilizer treatment significantly reduced soil bacterial richness, the cooling organic fertilizer treatment had no significant effect on soil bacterial diversity and bacterial richness, Proteobacteria representing soil nutrients significantly increased under the cooling organic fertilizer treatment, and the relative abundance of Firmicutes significantly decreased. These four organic fertilizers, with different degrees of maturation, significantly increased the beneficial bacterium Bacillus and nitrile-based degrading bacteria but also significantly increased the potential pathogenicity of the soil, and there was no significant difference between the four treatments. In addition, during a cooling period, the organic fertilizer treatment helped to increase the population of oxidative-stress-tolerant bacteria. The application of organic fertilizer during a cooling period to saline–alkali soil is more helpful in improving its nutrient levels.

In order to clarify the nutrients and stoichiometric changes of soil aggregates in different forest types, reveal the soil nutrient retention and limitation characteristics of coal mining subsidence land, and then screen out the best reclaimed-forest types. In this study, three types of reclaimed forests, namely Amygdalus sylvestris, Prunus sylvestris, and Xanthomonas serrata, were set up on the Shenfu-Dongsheng mining area in the coal mining subsidence area. At the same time, the nearby unsettled and unplanted abandoned farmland was used as a control, based on the dry sieve method to explore the soil mechanical stability aggregate composition, soil SOC (organic carbon), TN (total nitrogen), TP (total phosphorus) content and its stoichiometric characteristics in response to long-term vegetation reclamation in 0-40 cm soil law. The results showed that the content of soil micro-aggregates of different reclaimed-forest types decreased while the content of large aggregates increased, and the total amount of large aggregates >0.25 mm in each forest type exceeded 70%. The content of SOC, TN and TP in soils of different forest types 0.25 mm large aggregates to soil SOC, TN and TP were 72%-83%,66%-74%, 65%-82% respectively. The C/N, C/P and N/P of soil aggregates of different forest types were all lower than the average of national and global. Osteoporosis (OP) is a systemic metabolic orthopedic disorder prevalent in elderly people, that is characterized by a decrease in bone mass. Although many therapeutics have been adopted for OP treatment, many of them are still not well satisfied clinical requirements and therefore development of novel therapeutics is of great significance. In this work, a novel bone-targeting drug self-frame delivery system (DSFDS) with high drug loading efficiency and pH responsive drug release was fabricated by condensation of curcumin (Cur), amino group terminated polyethylene glycol (NH2-PEG), and alendronate (ALN) using hexachlorocyclotriphosphonitrile (HCCP) as the linker. The final product named as HCCP-Cur-PEG-ALN (HCPA NPs) displayed excellent water dispersity with small size (181.9 ​± ​25.9 ​nm). Furthermore, the drug loading capacity of Cur can reach 25.8%, and Cur can be released from HCPA NPs under acidic environment. Owing to the introduction of ALN, HCPA NPs exhibited strong binding to HAp in vitro and excellent bone-targeting effect in vivo. Results from cellular and biochemical analyses revealed that HCPA NPs could effectively inhibit the formation and differentiation function of osteoclasts. More importantly, we also demonstrated that HCPA NPs could effectively reduce bone loss in OVX mice with low toxicity to major organs. The above results clearly demonstrated that HCPA NPs are promising for OP treatment. Given the simplicity and well designability of fabrication strategy, explicit therapy efficacy and low toxicity of HCPA NPs, we believe that this work should be of great interest for fabrication of various DSFDS to deal with many diseases.

The photovoltaic industry is developing rapidly because of its renewable energy and other advantages. However, the installation of this infrastructure may affect soil, vegetation, and carbon dynamics, making it is necessary to carry out vegetation restoration work at a plant’s location in the later stages of its construction. For this reason, three types of artificial vegetation were selected (Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, Astragalus membra-naceus var. mongholicus and Medicago sativa) as research objects in an ecological photovoltaic power plant in Northern China, to study the changes in soil organic carbon storage (SOCS), carbon:nitrogen ratios (C:N) and C:phosphorus ratios (C:P) at different soil depths and for different vegetation types. Natural vegetation plots undisturbed by the construction of the power plant were used as a control. Seven years after revegetation, we found that the storage and content of soil organic carbon in all three artificial vegetation plots were notably lower compared to the control. Nevertheless, the soil’s organic carbon content for Medicago sativa plots increased was significantly higher by 1.2 g·kg−1 compared to Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica and A. membranaceus var. mongholicus plots, while organic carbon storage increased significantly by 3.55 t·ha and 7.15 t·ha. SOCS, C:N, and C:P concentrations in the 0–20 cm soil layer exhibited a significantly higher value in comparison to those of the 20–40 cm soil layer. As the soil depth increased, all the concentrations declined gradually. Vegetation type and soil depth, as well as their interaction, had a significant impact on soil carbon storage, C:N, and C:P. The study area was restricted by the availability of P. In general, vegetation restoration is a beneficial ecological practice for soil restoration at photovoltaic power stations. It is believed that planting alfalfa can accelerate the improvement of soil carbon with an extension of vegetation recovery time. In order to restore the balance of nutrients for plants, it is necessary to avoid human interference at the later stage, and to supplement phosphorus as soon as possible to minimize phosphorus limitation at the later stage of vegetation growth, which is of great importance to increasing the likelihood of success in reclaiming disturbed land.

Under the trend of antibiotic resistance of H. pylori leading to the decrease of eradication rate, the development of a vaccine is the best choice to fight against H. pylori. In this study, we attempted to reduce the amounts of required antigens by using three different parenteral routes of immunization and an adjuvant cGAMP (cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate) to enhance the immunogenicity of the vaccine candidate. The immune protection and post-challenge immune responses were assessed and compared in mice immunized with recombinant Helicobacter pylori urease A, urease B, and neutrophil-activating protein adjuvanted with cGAMP. The gastric mucosal colonization by H. pylori was significantly reduced in mice immunized by intranasal and, to a less degree, subcutaneous route, but not by intramuscular route. All immunized mice, regardless of the route of immunization, displayed significant, but comparable, increases in antigen-specific serum IgG and mucosal IgA responses 5 weeks post-challenge. The magnitude of the vaccine-induced protection appeared to be associated with the level of antigen-specific Th1 and particularly Th17 responses, as IL-17 responses were only detected in intranasally immunized mice. Taken together, we explored and confirmed the possibility of using a novel adjuvant (cGAMP) to induce significant protective immunity with 10% of oral vaccine antigen dosage through parenteral immunization, especially intranasal immunization. This may provide an alternative approach to oral immunization for the development of effective H. pylori vaccines.

Subreflector misalignment of a large steerable radio telescope induces a pointing error and reduces the gain of the antenna system. To improve the antenna’s operational efficiency, it is necessary to measure and adjust the position and attitude of the subreflector in real time. In this paper, a method based on a position sensitive detector (PSD) and laser array without an optical system is proposed to measure the six degree-of-freedom (DOF) poses of the subreflector. The laser emitted by the laser module array ensures that the PSD can be covered as it moves with the subreflector, and the PSD can obtain more than three laser beams. These ensure the measurement of all attitude changes of a large-aperture antenna subreflector. The two-dimensional coordinates of the centroids of three laser spots are extracted using the PSD, and then the bursa model is established to complete the coordinate transformation. Finally, the 6-DOF attitude information of the antenna subreflector is obtained. The results of a 6.05 m measurement simulation show that it can obtain high 6-DOF PSD attitude information. The experimental results show that the 6-DOF position and attitude information of the subreflector at a distance of 5.78 m can be obtained within seconds. Moreover, the error of the translation is within 0.014 mm and the error of the rotation is within 0.37°. This method can meet the pose measurement requirements of the subreflector.

Fluorescent sensor has demonstrated to be a facile and effective method to detect heavy metal ions owing to its unique characteristics such as simplicity, ease of operation and cost-effectiveness. In this work, a novel fluorescent probe with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) feature that contains an amide ligand base on the tetraphenylethylene (TPE) dye was designed and successfully synthesized. The utilization of the AIE-active fluorescent probe (named as FDPA) for detection of Cu2+ in aqueous solution has also been examined. We demonstrated that the resultant AIE-active molecule displays amphiphilic property and can self-assemble in aqueous solution with remarkable enhancement of fluorescent intensity owing to its AIE feature. The detection limit of probe for Cu2+ determination is 6.11 × 10−9 M and shows excellent selectivity in the presence of competitive ions. This work provides a useful route to overcome the fluorescence quenching of conventional fluorescent probes in aqueous solution and an elegant way to prepare fluorescent probes with better fluorescence properties.

In this paper, we report the fabrication of ionic liquid (IL)-modified molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) composites via a simple but effective method, that relied on Gamma-ray-initiated polymerization of polydopamine (PDA) modified MoS2 nanosheets using IL as a monomer. The adsorptive removal of Congo red (CR) from aqueous medium by MoS2@PDA@IL composites was investigated. Batch experiments were carried out thoroughly to explore the effects of various experimental factors, such as contact time, containment initial concentration, and the function of pH and system temperature on the adsorption of MoS2@PDA@IL composites towards CR. Based on the experimental data, the adsorption kinetics, isotherms (Langmuir and Freundlich) and thermodynamics were also studied. We demonstrated that the adsorption of CR on MoS2@PDA@IL is a spontaneous and endothermic process. The amount of adsorbed CR of the MoS2@PDA@IL composites (Qe, max = 112.16 mg/g) is 2.77 times that of pristine MoS2 (Qe, max = 40.54 mg/g). The above results demonstrated that PIL functionalized MoS2 nanosheets are promising for adsorptive removal of environmental pollutants. More importantly, owing to the universal adhesion capability of polydopamine, the method might also be extended for the fabrication of other polymeric composites with different functions for various applications. Therefore, this work will attract interest from scientists in the materials, chemistry and environmental fields.

As displaying many advantages including high specific strength, light weight, energy absorption, etc., porous structures have been widely used in aerospace, medical science, engineering and other fields. In this paper, an adaptive anisotropic porous modeling method is proposed for improving the mechanical performance of 2.5D mechanical parts whilst minimizing weight and maximizing product benefits. The method relies on the Anisotropic Centroidal Voronoi Tessellations (ACVTs) by offsetting closed B-spline curves. To enhance adaptability to a given parts, the finite element analysis (FEA) results of stress field is combined with stress-based weighted random sampling strategy to generate ACVTs according to Riemannian metric. A skin frame is established to improve geometrical quality of porous structure and ACVTs is tailored to be adaptive for concave and Non-zero genus. Besides, a parametric model between the stress tensor distribution and the relative density field is formulated, allowing the size, the distribution and the shape of pores to be controlled by stress mapping. Both the FEA results and the experimental data show that the adaptive anisotropic structures have significant advantages in mechanical properties, topological consistency and connectivity. Additionally, an example of wrench is provided to prove the great potential of the adaptive anisotropic structures in engineering applications.

This paper focuses on the opportunity to use multiple star trackers to help space situational awareness and space surveillance. Catalogs of space debris around Earth are usually based on ground-based measurements, which rely on data provided by ground-based radar observations and ground-based optical observations. However, space-based observations offer new opportunities because they are independent of the weather and the circadian rhythms to which the ground system is subjected. Consequently, space-based optical observations improve the possibility of space debris detection and cataloging. This work deals with a feasibility study of an innovative strategy, which consists of the use of a star sensor with a dedicated algorithm to run directly on board. This approach minimizes the impact on the original mission of the satellite, and on this basis, it has also the function of space debris monitoring. Therefore, theoretically, every satellite with a star tracker can be used as a space surveillance observer. In this paper, we propose a multi-star space debris detecting and positioning method with constant geocentric observation. Using the multi-star tracker joint positioning method, the angle measurement data of the star tracker is converted into the spatial coordinates of the target. In addition, the Gaussian MMSE difference correction algorithm is used to realize the target positioning of multiple optical observations, and the spatial target position information of the multi-frame images is fused, thus completing the solution of the orbit equation. The simulation results show that the proposed method is sufficient to detect and position space debris. It also demonstrates the necessity and feasibility of cooperative network observation by multiple star trackers.

Abstract Objective To compare the effects of 3D print-assisted surgery and conventional surgery in the treatment of pilon fractures. Methods PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, CBM, and WanFang data were searched until July 2018. Two reviewers selected relevant studies, assessed the quality of studies, and extracted data. For continuous data, a weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used. For dichotomous data, a relative risk (RR) and 95% CI were calculated as the summary statistics. Results There were seven randomized controlled trials (RCT) enrolling a total of 486 patients, 242 patients underwent 3D print-assisted surgery and 244 patients underwent conventional surgery. This paper describes the multilayer voting algorithm, a novel autonomous star identification method for spacecraft attitude determination. The proposed algorithm includes two processes: an initial match process and a verification process. In the initial match process, a triangle voting scheme is used to acquire candidates of the detected stars, in which the triangle unit is adopted as the basic voting unit. During the identification process, feature extraction is implemented, and each triangle unit is described by its singular values. Then the singular values are used to search for candidates of the imaged triangle units, which further improve the efficiency and robustness of the algorithm. After the initial match step, a verification method is applied to eliminate incorrect candidates from the initial results and then outputting the final match results of the imaged stars. Experiments show that our algorithm has more robustness to position noise, magnitude noise, and false stars than the other three algorithms, the identification speed of our algorithm is largely faster than the geometric voting algorithm and optimized grid algorithm. However, it takes more memory, and SVD also seems faster.

With the increasing capacity of photovoltaic (PV) power plants connected to power systems, PV plants are often required to have some reactive power control capabilities to participate in reactive power regulation. Reactive power regulation of grid-connected PV inverters can be achieved using different control strategies. In this paper, the reactive power capability of inverters and the technical requirement of PV plants are analyzed. The reactive power capability of a 30 MW PV plant is evaluated against relevant technical standards using a new testing method proposed in this paper.

The overexploitation of groundwater and the excessive application of nitrogen (N) fertilizer under the intensive double cropping system are responsible for the groundwater level decline and potential contamination in the North China Plain (NCP). Alternative cropping systems have the potential to alleviate current groundwater and N problems in the region, while there are limited studies simultaneously focusing on the impact of a change of cropping systems on crop yields, groundwater consumption, and N leaching. In this study, Field observed experiments of double-cropping system (i.e., winter wheat–summer maize) and mono-cropping system (early sowing maize) were used to calibrate and validate the Root Zone Water Quality Model (RZWQM2). Then, the validated RZWQM2 model was used to evaluate the long-term crop growth and environmental impact under the local winter wheat–summer maize rotation system with practical irrigation (WW-SM_pi) and auto-irrigation (WW-SM_ai), and three alternative cropping systems (single early maize, SEM; winter wheat–summer maize and single early maize, WW-SM-SEM; winter wheat-summer maize and double single early maize, WW-SM-2SEM). The net consumption of groundwater and N leaching under WW-SM_pi were 226.9 mm yr−1 and 79.7 kg ha−1 yr−1, respectively. Under the local rotation system, auto-irrigation could increase crop yields and N leaching. Compared with the WW-SM_ai, the alternative cropping systems, WW-SM-SEM, WW-SM-2SEM, and SEM, significantly decreased the net consumption of groundwater by 49.3%, 63.0%, and 97.8%, respectively (147.5–292.9 mm), and N leaching by 53.5%, 67.5%, and 89.6%, respectively (50.0–83.7 kg ha−1). However, the yields of the three alternative cropping systems were reduced by less than 30% (12.2%, 20.1%, and 29.7%, respectively). The simulated results indicated that appropriately decreasing the planting frequency of winter wheat is an effective approach to reduce groundwater overexploitation and N contamination with a relatively limited reduction in grain yields. The results could provide a scientific basis for cropping system adjustment in guaranteeing sustainable regional water and grain policy.

The inhibition of demyelination and the promotion of remyelination are both considerable challenges in the therapeutic process for many central nervous system (CNS) diseases. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that neuroglial activation and neuroinflammation are responsible for myelin sheath damage during demyelinating disorders. It has been revealed that the nonselective cation channel transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) profoundly affects a variety of physiological processes, including inflammation. However, its roles and mechanisms in demyelination have remained unclear. Here, for the first time, we found that there was a significant increase in TRPV4 in the corpus callosum in a demyelinated mouse model induced by cuprizone (CPZ). RN-1734, a TRPV4-antagonist, clearly alleviated demyelination and inhibited glial activation and the production of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukin 1β (IL-1β) without altering the number of olig2-positive cells. In vitro, RN-1734 treatment clearly inhibited the influx of calcium and decreased the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated microglial cells by suppressing NF-κB P65 phosphorylation. Apoptosis of oligodendrocyte induced by LPS-activated microglia was also alleviated by RN-1734. The results suggest that activation of TRPV4 in microglia is involved in oligodendrocyte apoptosis through the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway, thus revealing a new mechanism of CNS demyelination.

Yan73, a teinturier (dyer) grape variety in China, is one of the few Vitis vinifera cultivars with red-coloured berry flesh. To examine the tissue-specific expression of genes associated with berry colour in Yan73, we analysed the differential accumulation of anthocyanins in the skin and flesh tissues of two red-skinned grape varieties with either red (Yan73) or white flesh (Muscat Hamburg) based on HPLC-MS analysis, as well as the differential expression of 18 anthocyanin biosynthesis genes in both varieties by quantitative RT-PCR. The results revealed that the transcripts of GST, OMT, AM3, CHS3, UFGT, MYBA1, F3′5′H, F3H1 and LDOX were barely detectable in the white flesh of Muscat Hamburg. In particular, GST, OMT, AM3, CHS3 and F3H1 showed approximately 50-fold downregulation in the white flesh of Muscat Hamburg compared to the red flesh of Yan73. A correlation analysis between the accumulation of different types of anthocyanins and gene expression indicated that the cumulative expression of GST, F3′5′H, LDOX and MYBA1 was more closely associated with the acylated anthocyanins and the 3′5′-OH anthocyanins, while OMT and AM3 were more closely associated with the total anthocyanins and methoxylated anthocyanins. Therefore, the transcripts of OMT, AM3, GST, F3′5′H, LDOX and MYBA1 explained most of the variation in the amount and composition of anthocyanins in skin and flesh of Yan73. The data suggest that the specific localization of anthocyanins in the flesh tissue of Yan73 is most likely due to the tissue-specific expression of OMT, AM3, GST, F3′5′H, LDOX and MYBA1 in the flesh.

The North China Plain (NCP) is a major grain production zone that plays a critical role in ensuring China's food supply. Irrigation is commonly used during grain production; however, the high annual water deficit [precipitation (P) minus evapotranspiration (ET)] in typical irrigated cropland does not support double cropping systems (such as maize and wheat) and this has resulted in the steep decline in the water table (~0.8 m year−1 at the Luancheng station) that has taken place since the 1970s. The current study aimed to adapt and check the ability of the CropSyst model (Suite-4) to simulate actual evapotranspiration (ETa), biomass, and grain yield, and to identify major evaporation (E) losses from winter wheat (WW) and summer maize (SM) rotations. Field experiments were conducted at the Luancheng Agro-ecosystem station, NCP, in 2010–2011 to 2012–2013. The CropSyst model was calibrated on wheat/maize (from weekly leaf area/biomass data available for 2012–2013) and validated onto measured ETa, biomass, and grain yield at the experimental station from 2010–2011 to 2011–2012, by using model calibration parameters. The revalidation was performed with the ETa, biomass, grain yield, and simulated ETa partition for 2008–2009 WW [ETa partition was measured by the Micro-lysimeter (MLM) and isotopes approach available for this year]. For the WW crop, E was 30% of total ETa; but from 2010–11 to 2013, the annual average E was ~40% of ETa for the WW and SM rotation. Furthermore, the WW and SM rotation from 2010–2011 to 2012–2013 was divided into three growth periods; (i) pre-sowing irrigation (PSI; sowing at field capacity) to emergence period (EP), (ii) EP to canopy cover period (CC) and (iii) CC to harvesting period (HP), and E from each growth period was ~10, 60, and 30%, respectively. In general, error statistics such as RMSE, Willmott's d, and NRMSE in the model evaluation for wheat ETa (maize ETa) were 38.3 mm, 0.81, and 9.24% (31.74 mm, 0.73, and 11.89%); for wheat biomass (maize biomass) they were 1.25 Mg ha−1, 0.83, and 9.64% (0.78 Mg ha−1, 0.96, and 7.96%); and for wheat grain yield (maize grain yield) they were 0.65 Mg ha−1, 0.82, and 9.87% (0.2 Mg ha−1, 0.99, and 3.79%). The results showed that CropSyst is a valid model that can be use with a reliable degree of accuracy for optimizing WW and SM grain yield production and water requirement on the NCP.

In order to simplify the structure of the ocean drilling heave compensation system and reduce the energy consumption of active drawworks heave compensation system, a new type of semi-active drawworks heave compensation system was designed through structure design, system modeling and internal model PID robust displacement controller design. Then the feasibility of the system was verified by non-linear time domain simulation and experimental study. The structure design realizes decoupling control of heave compensation and automatic bit feed, reduces energy consumption of the system. The system is simplified to build simulation model by lumped mass method and energy conservation principle. The double control scheme of hook displacement closed loop in the outer loop and motor speed closed loop in the inner loop is put forward, the internal model PID robust displacement controller of outer loop is designed. The steady-state deviation of internal model control is zero when the model is matching or mismatching. The dynamic performance and resisting disturbance capacity of the internal model control is better when the filter time constant is smaller. The compensation rate is above 90% by simulation and experimental research results, the compensation effect is good and the system is feasible. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the most important staple food crops, and its sustained production and nutritional security have attracted much attention. Cadmium, a heavy metal toxic to plants and humans, can enter wheat in various ways. Foliar fertilization can reduce the cadmium content in plants, but how different fertilizers reduce the cadmium toxicity of plants is still unclear. In this study, the effects of foliar application of fertilizers on spring wheat yield, cadmium accumulation, and trace element contents were studied by applying three kinds of fertilizers (multi-element compound fertilizer, manganese-zinc micro fertilizer, and foliar silicon fertilizer) to spring wheat planted in mildly and moderately cadmium polluted areas. The results showed that the yield of wheat when fertilized with multi-element compound fertilizer, manganese-zinc micro fertilizer, and silicon fertilizer increased by 17.1%, 15.7%, and 16.9%, respectively, compared with the control. In addition, all three foliar fertilizers reduced the cadmium content in wheat grains to below the standard value of food pollutants (≤0.1mg/kg), and significantly reduced the transport of cadmium from glume to grain, among which manganesezinc micro fertilizer had the best effect, with a cadmium reduction rate of 41.7%. At the same time, manganese-zinc micro fertilizer significantly increased the absorption of trace elements in wheat organs. These results indicated that the foliar application of manganese-zinc micro fertilizer could be an effective way to increase wheat yield, inhibit cadmium accumulation, and increase nutrient absorption in mildly to moderately cadmium-polluted areas.
