4. A Review on Elliptic Curve Cryptography for Embedded Systems

Abstract

Importance of Elliptic Curves in Cryptography was independently proposed by Neal Koblitz and Victor Miller in 1985.Since then, Elliptic curve cryptography or ECC has evolved as a vast field for public key cryptography (PKC) systems. In PKC system, we use separate keys to encode and decode the data. Since one of the keys is distributed publicly in PKC systems, the strength of security depends on large key size. The mathematical problems of prime factorization and discrete logarithm are previously used in PKC systems. ECC has proved to provide same level of security with relatively small key sizes. The research in the field of ECC is mostly focused on its implementation on application specific systems. Abstract

Managing the transactions in real time distributed computing system is not easy, as it has heterogeneously networked computers to solve a single problem. If a transaction runs across some different sites, it may commit at some sites and may failure at another site, leading to an inconsistent transaction. The complexity is increase in real time applications by placing deadlines on the response time of the database system and transactions processing. Such a system needs to process Transactions before these deadlines expired. A series of simulation study have been performed to analyze the performance under different transaction management under conditions such as different workloads, distribution methods, execution mode-distribution and parallel etc. The scheduling of data accesses are done in order to meet their deadlines and to minimize the number of transactions that missed deadlines. A new concept is introduced to manage the transactions in dynamic ways rather than setting computing parameters in static ways. Abstract

Most Significant Music Industry is today widely supported by Research in the area of Musical information Processing. In the past decade the growth of Digital Music over internet and our day-to-day life has forced researcher to explorethe diverse area of Musical Instrument Identification, Retrieval, Classification and Recognition of large sets of music. In our paper we have explored the ignored area of Indian Musical Instrument Recognition (IMIR) and attempted to build the database for the same. An innovative technique to classify the IMIR using the Modified Linear Predictor Coefficient (LPC) features and Log-Power-Intensity (LPI) is discussed. The proposed method has been tested with experimental results and technique has an accuracy of 96.11% for instrument and 92.45 for individual sound.

Abstract

Complex permittivity of aniline–methanol mixture for various temperatures have been measured as a function of frequency between 10 MHz and 10 GHz using time domain reflectometry technique (TDR). Dielectric parameters viz. static dielectric constant εs, relaxation time τ were obtained from complex permittivity spectra using nonlinear least-square fit method. With these parameters, excess dielectric properties, Kirkwood correlation factor and thermodynamic parameters were determined and discussed to yield the information on the molecular structure and dynamics of the mixture. At low methanol concentration, strong interaction between the solute–solvent molecules was observed through hydrogen bonding. The values of ΔH* and Kirkwood correlation factors support the same. The dielectric constant of the mixture fits well with the modified Bruggman equation. © 1994 American Institute of Physics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The dielectric relaxation studies of hexamethylphosphoramide-water mixtures have been carried out at different temperatures using time domain reflectometry technique in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 10 GHz. A calibration method based on the least squares fit has been suggested to determine the complex permittivity at the high frequency region for the aqueous solutions. The excess dielectric, Kirkwood correlation factor and thermodynamic properties in the mixture have been determined. These properties suggest a Cage-type structure of hexamethylphosphoramide molecules around water molecules. The structure has a tendency to break down in the presence of water. Luzar has proposed a more realistic hydrogen bonded model, to determine the correlation factor g1 and g2 from single value or the dielectric constant. The interaction of the chloro group molecules with methanol as hydrogen bonded liquid is discussed.
