Given the repetitiveness with which satellite images are acquired, it is possible to recognize changes in the landscape of a region in a given period of time by analyzing the extent and type of changes in use. The objective was to statistically evaluate, through descriptive analysis and regression, temporal data on the coverage and use of land in the municipality of Patos-PB obtained by MapBiomas© using a series of 36 years between 1985 and 2020. The statistical treatment was directed to the application of the analyzes of the data using the XLSTAT© Trial. The use of the MapBiomas web application as a tool to analyze the use and land cover provided satisfactory results quickly and accurately. It was observed that there were significant changes in area in the Non-Forest and Agricultural Natural Formation classes, where the greatest deviations occurred. The distribution was not symmetrical, kurtosis indicated a platykurtic distribution, where the greatest variations in amplitude and irregular distribution were in the Non-Forest and Agricultural Natural Formation classes. It could be said that there is agreement between the tests used in this work and the accuracy analysis performed on the images by Mapbiomas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to evaluate and map the potential of agricultural production of cassava using geotechnologies for the basin of the middle course region of Paraíba river. SPRING was used to construct the maps of irrigation potential and water retention capacity of the soils and generate the partial map through matrix crossing. Annual average rainfall data were used to construct the climate condition map. Subsequently, LEGAL was used to generate the agricultural production potential map through matrix crossing between the partial map and the climate scenario map. For cassava crop, the following climatic conditions were found: Full in 13.67% of the basin's total area; Full with prolonged rainy season in 3.55%; Moderate due to water excess was not identified; Moderate due to water deficit in 21.03%; and Unsuitable due to severe water deficit in 61.75%. Regarding the potential of irrigated agricultural production of cassava crop, there was no Very High or High, and it was classified as Medium in 3.19% of the area, Low in 5.09% and Very Low in 91.72%. Therefore, irrigated cassava cultivation is not recommended in the watershed of the region of the middle course of the Paraíba River. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

IRRIGATION farming , *SUSTAINABLE development , *CROPS , *SUSTAINABLE agriculture , *AGRICULTURAL productivity , *IRRIGATED soils - Abstract
Due to Paraíba having a significant portion of its territory inserted in a semi-arid environment, the use of irrigation emerges as an important technology to increase the production and diversity of agricultural crops. However, the development of sustainable irrigated agriculture requires the availability of land with characteristics favorable to this practice. This work aimed to identify and evaluate the potential for the expansion of irrigation in the region of the middle course of the Paraíba River using geotechnologies. A MapBiomas file for rural areas and settlements was used. Urban areas were identified through a Geoinfo digital file. To classify and map the irrigated areas, data from IBGE was used. In the classification of the current irrigated and fertirrigated area and the additional irrigable area, data from ANA were used. For the elaboration of the maps, the SIG SPRING 5.5 was used and the calculations of the areas were carried out. For this work, irrigated and fertirrigated areas were identified in the municipalities of Boqueirão, Queimadas, Itatuba, Barra de São Miguel, and areas of additional irrigable expansion were identified in the municipalities of Boqueirão and Aroeiras. The agricultural areas identified and mapped represented 21.42% of the productive establishments. In the evaluation, it was found that there was no growth in the irrigated area in the basin between the years 1980 and 2017. The irrigated areas are concentrated around the Bodocongó River, the Paraíba River and close to the Acauã reservoir. In the irrigation expansion potential of additional irrigable, the limiting factors of the soils must be taken into account, and the use of conservation practices must be recommended. - Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the potential of the soil and climate of Paraiba State for of castor bean. In obtaining the pedoclimatic potential maps, the soil potential of information obtained were combined with the obtained climate suitability considering three rainfall scenarios: wet years, dry and regular. The crossing of the information was carried out through geoprocessing techniques using the SPRING software and obtaining maps of soil and climate potential. The result of the interpretations was classified into five pedoclimatic potential classes: Very High, High, Medium, Low and Very Low. The results obtained make it possible to define the effective potential environments for farm with a view to rational allocation of production factors and their economic performance by providing elements for the introduction of non-traditional areas; Should be taken into account that the accuracy of the information contained in the conclusions of this work is directly related to the level imposed by the scale of the soil survey (1: 200,000), the basis of this work, and thus there is a possibility of castor bean cultivation in small areas that could not be identified; significant differences are observed in the territorial extension of the classes and subclasses of potential soil and climate of the state of Paraiba, presenting variations of pedological and climatic order in their territory, influencing the potential soil and climate for the cultivation of castor bean; The potential pedoclimatic Very High was not represented in the mapping. Areas of high pedoclimatic potential occur mainly in the South Coast region and small areas in the Brejo region. The medium potential environments occur in the Agreste, Brejo and Sertão regions. Low Potential areas occur in the Curimataú and the Very Low potential areas occur in almost every State. The water and pedological demand for castor bean plantation restricts the planting areas in the state., Este trabalho objetivou avaliar o potencial pedoclimático do Estado da Paraíba para a cultura da mamona.

- Abstract
The caatinga biome is a large diversity that covers most of the area of Brazilian semi-arid climate. Several techniques have been used in order to determine quantitatively and qualitatively the state of vegetation from satellite images and vegetation indices were developed to assist in vegetation mapping, optimizing spectral measurement parameters used for this purpose. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate spectral indices (NDVI, SAVI and EVI) to map the caatinga vegetation. It was concluded that the best index that correlates with the caatinga vegetation was the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for the dry period, and the pattern of spectral response of the dry period decreased confounding targets of caatinga vegetation. It was estimated that 29.7% of the area of the river basin Taperoá is in advanced process of desertification., A caatinga é um bioma de grande diversidade que cobre a maior parte da área de clima semiárido brasileiro.

- Abstract
Desertification has become a serious problem for the semi-arid regions of the planet. In the semi-arid northeast growing environmental degradation has caused desertification processes increasingly significant, bringing consequences as loss of soil fertility and biodiversity. To understand the changes of the complex inter-relationship of the terrestrial environment in response to changing natural and anthropogenic activities, which are dynamic in nature, it is necessary to have a source of data with temporal and spatial flexibility that meets the time frame of this evolution. Through digital processing of satellite images in time series can map and assess the evolution of degradation processes. This study aimed to detect the change in caatinga vegetation in the municipality of Sumé-PB. We used images of medium spatial resolution and by ERDAS and SPRING held mapping using LEGAL. The results showed that there were increases in arboreal the sub arboreal dense class of 10.96%, in sub arboreal dense class 24.52%, shrubby sub arboreal dense class and 13.7%. Detection of change can be seen that there was a recovery of vegetation in 596 km2 , not change in an area of 78.1 km2 and degradation in 98.4 km2, A desertificação vem se tornando um sério problema para as regiões semiáridas de todo o planeta.

- Abstract
Agroecology is a set of techniques and concepts, aiming at the production of healthier food, based on an economically viable agriculture, ecologically sustainable, socially just and culturally appropriate. Combine low cost technologies to agroecology is a way to develop agriculture causing it to be less dependent and less costly for the farmer. Thus, the Demonstration Units Pedagogical Family Agriculture (UDPAF) are used in educational way to exchange, training and workshops, for allowing observations, experimentation and collective reflection. The objective of to the article is solidify and disseminate social technologies inexpensive and less dependent on the external system. Three social technologies alternative, geodesic and solar panels have been deployed in the tank UDPAF promoted by the Multidisciplinary Expert Advisory Group on Technology and Extension (AGEMTE), under contract with the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA), with the Program Technical Assistance, Social and Environmental Agrarian Reform (ATES). The implementation process took place in accordance with the capabilities and characteristics of each of the units observing the production cycles, from household food security or interest group for surplus production aiming to generate income. The results showed that: the three technologies presented adapt to family farming have practicability and be inexpensive to implement; families involved will be replicating the theoretical and practical knowledge in the disclosure; that caused the change in behavior of the actors involved, causing interest in low cost social technologies.
