New complexes of Cu(II) with some substituted 2-(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-yl)-methyl-acetanilides (L) hae been synthesized. The complex compounds, CuL4X2 (where X- = Cl,Br, CH3COO) were characterized by elemental analysis, as well as IR, UV-VIS, EPR spectroscopy. The study evidenced the influence of the position of the methyl group on the benzene ring and also of the anions on the physical properties of the compounds.

The integration of precision medicine in the care of hospitalized children is ever evolving. However, access to new genomic diagnostics such as rapid whole genome sequencing (rWGS) is hindered by barriers in implementation. Michigan's Project Baby Deer (PBD) is a multi-center collaborative effort that sought to break down barriers to access by offering rWGS to critically ill neonatal and pediatric inpatients in Michigan. The clinical champion team used a standardized approach with inclusion and exclusion criteria, shared learning, and quality improvement evaluation of the project's impact on the clinical outcomes and economics of inpatient rWGS. Hospitals, including those without on-site geneticists or genetic counselors, noted positive clinical impacts, accelerating time to definitive treatment for project patients. Between 95-214 hospital days were avoided, net savings of $4155 per patient, and family experience of care was improved. The project spurred policy advancement when Michigan became the first state in the United States to have a Medicaid policy with carve-out payment to hospitals for rWGS testing. This state project demonstrates how front-line clinician champions can directly improve access to new technology for pediatric patients and serves as a roadmap for expanding clinical implementation of evidence-based precision medicine technologies.

Over the last few decades, there has been an increase in the number of large federally funded transdisciplinary programs and initiatives. Scholars have identified a need to develop frameworks, methodologies, and tools to evaluate the effectiveness of these large collaborative initiatives, providing precise ways to understand and assess the operations, community and academic partner collaboration, scientific and community research dissemination, and cost-effectiveness. Unfortunately, there has been limited research on methodologies and frameworks that can be used to evaluate large initiatives. This study presents a framework for evaluating the Flint Center for Health Equity Solutions (FCHES), a National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD)-funded Transdisciplinary Collaborative Center (TCC) for health disparities research. This report presents a summary of the FCHES evaluation framework and evaluation questions as well as findings from the Year-2 evaluation of the Center and lessons learned.

Abstract The efficiency of a cosmetic product depends not only on the active ingredients, but also on the carrier system devoted to improve its bioavailability. This article aims to encapsulate two couples of UV molecular absorbers, with a blocking action on both UV-A and UV-B domains, into efficient lipid nanoparticles. The effect of encapsulation on the specific properties such as sun protection factor and photostability behaviour has been demonstrated. The lipid nanoparticles with size range 30-350 nm and a polydispersity index between 0.217 and 0.244 are obtained using a modified high shear homogenisation method. The nanoparticles had spherical shapes with a single crystallisation form of lipid matrices characteristic for the least ordered crystal structure (α-form). The in vitro determination of photoprotection has led to high SPF ratings, with values of about 20, which assure a good photoprotection and filtering about 95% of UV radiation. The photoprotection effect after irradiation stage was observed to be increased more than twice compared to initial samples as a result of isomerisation phenomena. All the results have shown that good photoprotection effect and improved photostability could be obtained using such sunscreen couples, thus demonstrating that UV absorbers-solid lipid nanoparticles are promising carriers for cosmetic formulations.

This paper aims to systematize a series of statistical methods of analysis and control and proposes some forecast models for surface water pollution both in and near a large city. The monitoring data of heavy metals, nitrites, and phosphates collected for three years are processed using different statistical tools. It is demonstrated that they are under statistical control, and appropriate mathematical models are formulated to allow for forecasting and understanding of the causes of the appearance and perpetuation of certain phenomena. A comparative analysis is made, and the generalization of some methods is considered as an analysis and control tool.

This paper presents some variants of minimal point theorem together with corresponding variants of Ekeland variational principle. In the second part of this article, there is a discussion on Ekeland variational principle and minimal point theorem relative to it in uniform spaces. The aim of these series of important results is to highlight relations between them, some improvements and specific applications.

Introduction Partner support and relationship characteristics may be important factors in effective couple-based pregnancy smoking cessation programs. Research is needed to investigate the links between couple relationship characteristics and maternal smoking cessation to inform the development of such interventions. Methods This paper relies on cross-section data collected during the formative phase in the development of an ongoing couple-focused pregnancy tobacco cessation trial. Data (n = 143 pregnant women) were collected from two large public and one private obstetrics and gynecology clinics located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Multiple logistic regression was used to identify correlates of smoking cessation during pregnancy. Results Higher education was a significant correlate of smoking cessation during pregnancy. Women with a college degree or more had higher odds to quit smoking during pregnancy in comparison to their counterparts who graduated high school or less (OR 14.3, 95% CI 2.75-74.28). In addition, women with increased positive partner interactions related to their smoking cessation efforts correlated with higher odds of quitting smoking during pregnancy (OR 1.48, 95% CI 1.15-1.91). Discussion While pregnancy tobacco cessation interventions with partner support do exist, most were not successful and did not focus on couple-related concepts such as partner interactions, dyadic coping, and dyadic efficacy. Dental endo-osseous implants have become a widely used treatment for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants are placed into a surgically created osteotomy in alveolar bone, the healing of the soft tissue lesion and the osseointegration of the implant being key elements to long-term success. Autophagy is considered the major intracellular degradation system, playing important roles in various cellular processes involved in dental implant integration. The aim of this review is an exploration of autophagy roles in the main cell types involved in the healing and remodeling of soft tissue lesions and implant osseointegration, post-implant surgery. We have focused on the autophagy pathway in macrophages, endothelial cells; osteoclasts, osteoblasts; fibroblasts, myofibroblasts and keratinocytes. In macrophages, autophagy modulates innate and adaptive immune responses playing a key role in osteo-immunity. Autophagy induction in endothelial cells promotes apoptosis resistance, cell survival, and protection against oxidative stress damage. The autophagic machinery is also involved in transporting stromal vesicles containing mineralization-related factors to the extracellular matrix and regulating osteoblasts’ functions. Alveolar bone remodeling is achieved by immune cells differentiation into osteoclasts; autophagy plays an important and active role in this process. Autophagy downregulation in fibroblasts induces apoptosis, leading to better wound healing by improving excessive deposition of extracellular matrix and inhibiting fibrosis progression. Autophagy seems to be a dual actor on the scene of dental implant surgery, imposing further research in order to completely reveal its positive features which may be essential for clinical efficacy.

The few existing economic evaluations of community-based health promotion interventions were reported retrospectively at the end of the trial. We report an evaluation of the costs of the Kin Keeper(superscript SM) Cancer Prevention Intervention, a female family-focused educational intervention for underserved women applied to increase breast and cervical cancer screening by enhancing cancer literacy. The cost analysis was performed from the perspective of a health organization with established community partnerships adding the Kin Keeper family intervention in the future to an existing community health worker program. The cost of delivering the Kin Keeper intervention, including two cancer education home visits, was $151/family. Kin Keeper is an inexpensive educational intervention delivered by community health workers to promote breast and cervical screening, with strong fidelity and quality. Prospecting cost evaluations of community-based interventions are needed for making informed timely decisions on the adaptation and expansion of such programs.
