PING Junior 2021 is organized with the support of funds for specific university research project SVK1-2021-008 and ERDF "Research of additive technologies for future applications in the machinery industry - RTI plus" (No. CZ.02.1.01/0.0/0.0/18_069/0010040). There is a great interest in the synthesis of various nanosized green reusable catalysts which would better assist various chemical reactions in wastewater technologies. Pulsed laser irradiation of iron and cobalt sulphides in different environments (FeS in water and ethanol; CoS2 in vacuum) allows laser ablation and generation of FeS, CoS2 nano/micro particles. The FeS-derived colloidal nanoparticles were absorbed onto immersed porous ceramic substrates and create solar-light photocatalytic surfaces. CoS2-based films were deposited on Ta and Cu substrate. Generated nanoparticles were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, high resolution electron microscopy and electron diffraction. These complementary analyses revealed that the film on Ta consists of the parent cubic CoS2 whereas the film on Cu exhibits a multiphase structure containing the cubic CoS2 and cubic Co2CuS4. In a case of FeS analysis reveal high-pressure orthorhombic FeS, cubic magnetite Fe3O4 and tetragonal maghemite γ-Fe2O3 produced in water, while those formed in ethanol contain hexagonal FeS and cubic magnetite Fe3O4. FeS-derived and CoS2-based nanoparticles were examined for their catalytic effect in Fenton degradation or photodegradation of methylene blue (MB).

Solární články na bázi černého křemíku (b-Si) se ukázaly ve fotovoltaice (PV) jako nadějné a přesahující 22% účinnost. Pro dosažení vysoké účinnosti u povrchů b-Si je nejdůležitějším krokem efektivní pasivace povrchu. Dosud je nejúčinnější doba životnosti minoritních nosičů dosahována depozicí několik atomů tenké vrstvy Al2O3 nebo tepelného SiO2. Plazmou podpořená chemická depozice z par (PECVD) vrstvy hydrogenizovaného amorfního křemíku (a-Si: H) jako pasivace b-Si je jen zřídka hlášena kvůli problémům s konformitou. V této současné studii jsou b-Si povrchy superponované na standardní pyramidální textury, také známé jako modulované povrchové textury (MST), úspěšně pasivovány konformními vrstvami a-Si:H nanesenými PECVD. Je ukázáno, že za správných podmínek plazmou podpořené depozice mohou efektivní doby životnosti minoritních nosičů vzorků vybavených přední MST a zadní standardní pyramidální strukturou dosáhnout až 2,3 ms. Cesta ke konformnímu růstu je popsána a vyvinuta za pomoci transmisních elektronových mikroskopických (TEM) obrazů. Pasivované vzorky MST vykazují méně než 4% odraz v širokém spektrálním rozsahu od 430 do 1020 nm. Solar cells based on black silicon (b-Si) are proven to be promising in photovoltaics (PVs) by exceeding 22%efficiency. To reach high efficiencies with b-Si surfaces, the most crucial step is the effective surface passivation. Up to now, the highest effective minority carrier lifetimes are achieved with atomic layer-deposited Al2O3 or thermal SiO2. Plasmaenhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD)-grown hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) passivation of b-Si is seldom reported due to conformality problems. In this current study, b-Si surfaces superposed on standard pyramidal textures, also known as modulated surface textures (MSTs), are successfully passivated by PECVD-grown conformal layers of a-Si:H. It is shown that under proper plasma-processing conditions, the effective minority carrier lifetimes of samples endowed with front MST and rear standard pyramidal textures can reach up to 2.3 ms. A route to the conformal growth is described and developed by transmission electron microscopic (TEM) images. Passivated MST samples exhibit less than 4% reflection in a wide spectral range from 430 to 1020 nm.

PING 2019 is organized with the support of funds for specific university research project SVK1-2019-002. The aim of this work is describing of structure of sputtered transparent conductive aluminium-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films. The main attention was focused on their lateral size and orientation of the grains. The structual properties of the samples were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and localy also by transmission electron microscope (TEM). The SEM analysis was used for investigation of surface morphology. Digital Micrograph and NIS-Elements were used to define the grain boundaries, which strongly affects the electrical properties. The TEM analysis of crosssection reveal that the sputtered films have a columnar structure whose lateral size increases with distance from the substrate. There were also calculated the interplanar spacing for each grain in HR-TEM images. In this work there were also the angles between the grains and substrate measured, so based on data we can estimate dependancy on the size of the angle. The data suggest that planes with a low angle of inclination from the substrate grow to the surface and outgrow the planes with a high angle of inclination. The low-oxygen AZO film was studied for the quantity of dislocations, according to the choosen HR-TEM image the dislocation density was about 10^16 nm^(-2). These data will be furtherly exploited in future research.

Dvou-dimenzionální elektronový plyn (2DEG) na povrchu a rozhraní oxidů poutal velkou pozornost ve fyzice a výzkumu pro jeho unikátní elektronické vlastnosti a možné aplikace v optoelektronice a nano-elektronice. Původ 2DEG na rozhraní oxidů byl ohodnocen jako velmi známý mechanizmus „polární katastrofy“. Na druhé straně, byl 2DEG nedávno pozorován na čistém povrchu SrTiO3 v důsledku tvorby kyslíkových vakancí. Nicméně, tyto 2DEG systémy byly doposud zjištěny většinou na atomárně dokonalých krystalických vzorkách obvykle deponovaných impulsní laserovou depozicí anebo epitaxií z molekulárních svazků, tj. na vzorkách, které je těžké připravit a vyžadují specifické experimentální podmínky. Zde informujeme o výrobě tenkých vrstev SrTiO3 deponovaných magnetronovým naprašováním, která je vhodná pro masovou produkci vzorků pro nano-technologické aplikace. Charakterizace jejich strukturních a elektronických vlastností byla zkoumána a porovnaná s monokrystalickými SrTiO3. Rtg difraktogramy a SEM snímky ukázaly, že deponované vrstvy jsou amorfní a do polykrystalické fáze se přetransformují až po tepelném zpracování na teplotě 900°C. Foto-emisní spektroskopie (XPS a UPS) byly použity ke studiu elektronických vlastností vrstev a krystalu. V obou případech jsme pozorovali 2DEG systém na Fermiho hladině a formování Ti3+ stavu když byl povrch ohřátý na teplotu 900°C. Two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at an oxides interfaces and surfaces has attracted large attention in physics and research due to its unique electronic properties and possible application in optoelectronic and nano-electronic. The origin of 2DEG at oxide interfaces has been awarded to well known “polar catastrophe” mechanism. On the other hand, recently 2DEG has been also found on clean SrTiO3 (001) surface due to the creation of oxygen vacancies. However, these 2DEG systems have been until now found mostly on an atomically perfect crystalline samples usually grown by pulse laser deposition or molecular beam epitaxy e.g. samples which are difficult to be prepared and require specific experimental conditions. Here, we report on the fabrication of SrTiO3 thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering which is suitable for mass-production of samples adapted for nano-electronic applications. The characterization of their structural and electronic properties were studied and compared to those of SrTiO3 single crystal. XRD patterns and SEM micrography showed that the deposited films are amorphous and their structure changed to polycrystalline after heating at 900_C. Photoemission spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) were used to study the electronic properties of the films and crystal. In both, we observed the 2DEG system at Fermi level and the formation of Ti3+ state when the surface was heated at 900_C.

Tvorba křemíkových nanostruktur zabudovaných do vrstev nitridu křemíku může být velmi zajímavá pro mikro- a optoelektronická zařízení, jako jsou energeticky nezávislé paměti a solární články. V této práci jsme připravili amorfní multivrstvy s více vrstvami a-Si: H / a-SiNx: H s různou tloušťkou na křemíkové a křemenné substráty metodou PECVD při 250 °C a použitím dusíku a silanu jako reaktivních prekurzorů. Následně bylo provedeno žíhání těchto struktur, které se skládaly ze střídajících se vrstev a-Si: H a a-SiNx: H, až do 1100 ° C ve vakuu za vzniku křemíkových nanostruktur. Byly zkoumány závislosti fotoluminiscence, strukturní a chemické vazebné charakteristiky nanostruktur na tloušťce křemíkové subvrstvy a teploty žíhání po depozici. Tvorba křemíkových nanokrystalů byla potvrzena elektronovou mikroskopií a rentgenovou difrakcí. Vývoj křemíkových nanoklastrů během vysokoteplotního žíhání byl také zkoumán Ramanovou rozptylovou spektroskopií. Změna konfigurace vazby během žíhání byla provedena Fourierovou transformační infračervenou spektroskopií. Optické vlastnosti byly studovány UV-VIS a fotoluminiscenční spektroskopií. Výsledky jasně ukazují, že strukturní a optické vlastnosti těchto systémů mohou být řízeny parametry depozice a žíhání. Formation of silicon nanostructures embedded in silicon nitride layers can be of great interest for micro and optoelectronic devices such as non-volatile memories and solar cells. In this work, we synthesized amorphous multilayered a-Si:H/a-SiNx:H superlattice structures with different thickness of sublayers grown on silicon and quartz substrates by the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition method at 250°C using nitrogen and silane gases as the reactive precursors. Subsequently, the post-deposition annealing of these structures, composed of alternating layers of a-Si:H and a-SiNx:H, was carried out up to 1100° in vacuum to form Si-nanostructures. The dependences of the photoluminescence, structural and chemical bonding characteristics of superlattice nanostructures on the silicon sublayer thickness and post-deposition annealing temperature were investigated. The formation of silicon nanocrystals was confirmed by the transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction measurements. Evolution of Si nanoclusters during high temperature treatment was examined by Raman scattering spectroscopy. Changing of bonding configuration during the annealing was carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The optical properties were studied by UV-VIS and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Results clearly show that structural and optical characteristics of these systems can be controlled by deposition parameters and annealing.

Vrstvené materiály, jako dichalcogenidy přechodného kovu, vykazují široké spektrum vlastností s obrovským aplikačním potenciálem, zatímco další skupina příbuzných materiálů, vrstevnaté trichalcogenidy přechodných kovů, zůstává neprozkoumaná. Zde uvádíme široký aplikační potenciál tohoto zajímavého strukturního typu vrstveného trisulfidu tantalu připraveného ve formě nanovláken. Tento materiál vykazuje zajímavé přitažlivé elektronické vlastnosti v závislosti na namáhání v tahu. Struktura této tzv. ortorombické fáze TaS3 pěstované ve formě dlouhých nanovláken byla vyřešena a předefinována. Využitím těchto vlastností demonstrujeme vysoce specifický impedimetrický NO senzor na bázi nanovláken TaS3, stejně jako konstrukci fotodetektorů s vynikajícími reakčními vlastnostmi a tranzistory řízeným polem. Různé pružné substráty byly použity pro konstrukci čidla NO. Takové zařízení vykazuje nízký limit detekce 0,48 ppb, což je hodně pod povolenou hodnotou stanovenou agenturou pro ochranu životního prostředí pro NOx (50 ppb). Kromě toho tento NO snímač plynu také vykazoval vynikající selektivitu za přítomnosti společných interferencí vzniklých při spalování paliva. Nanovlákna TaS3 vyráběná ve velkém měřítku vykazovaly vynikající široký aplikační potenciál pro různé typy zařízení zahrnující nanoelektronické, optoelektronické a plynové senzory. Layered materials, like transition metal dichalcogenides, exhibit broad spectra with outstanding properties with huge application potential, whereas another group of related materials, layered transition metal trichalcogenides, remains unexplored. Here, we show the broad application potential of this interesting structural type of layered tantalum trisulfide prepared in a form of nanofibers. This material shows tailorable attractive electronic properties dependent on the tensile strain applied to it. Structure of this so-called orthorhombic phase of TaS3 grown in a form of long nanofibers has been solved and refined. Taking advantage of these capabilities, we demonstrate a highly specific impedimetric NO gas sensor based on TaS3 nano-fibers as well as construction of photodetectors with excellent responsivity and fieldeffect transistors. Various flexible substrates were used for the construction of a NO gas sensor. Such a device exhibits a low limit of detection of 0.48 ppb, well under the allowed value set by environmental agencies for NOx (50 ppb). Moreover, this NO gas sensor also showed excellent selectivity in the presence of common interferences formed during fuel combustion. TaS3 nanofibers produced in large scale exhibited excellent broad application potential for various types of devices covering nanoelectronic, optoelectronic, and gas-sensing applications

Slitina Ti-35Nb-2Zr-0,5O (hmotnostní %) byla vyrobena procesem práškové metalurgie (izostatické lisování za studena směsi elementárních prášků a následné slinování) s primárním cílem použití jako materiálu pro biologické aplikace. Sintrované vzorky byly promyty a následně byl zkoumán vliv teploty žíhání na mechanické a strukturní vlastnosti. Vzorky byly žíhány při teplotě 800, 850, 900, 950 a 1000 ° C po dobu 0,5 hodiny s kalením do vody. Byly pozorovány významné změny v mikrostruktuře (tj. Rozpouštění sraženiny nebo zrychlení zrna) ve vztahu ke zvýšení teploty žíhání. Ve spojení s těmito změnami byly také zkoumány mechanické vlastnosti. Konečná pevnost v tahu se zvýšila z 925 MPa (vzorek žíhaný při 800 ° C) na 990 MPa (900 ° C). Také prodloužení (plasticita) narostla z ~ 13% (800 ° C) na více než 20% (900, 950 a 1000 ° C). Ti-35Nb-2Zr-0.5O (wt.%) alloy was prepared via a powder metallurgy process (cold isostatic pressing of blended elemental powders and subsequent sintering) with the primary aim of using it as a material for bio-applications. Sintered specimens were swaged and subsequently the influence of annealing temperature on the mechanical and structural properties was studied. Specimens were annealed at 800, 850, 900, 950, and 1000 °C for 0.5 h and water quenched. Significant changes in microstructure (i.e. precipitate dissolution or grain coarsening) were observed in relation to increasing annealing temperature. In correlation with those changes, the mechanical properties were also studied. The ultimate tensile strength increased from 925 MPa (specimen annealed at 800 °C) to 990 MPa (900 °C). Also the elongation increased from ~13% (800 °C) to more than 20% (900, 950, and 1000 °C).

Tento článek uvádí výsledky výzkumu z optické transmitanční spektrofotometrie spolu s daty ze strukturní rentgenové difrakce za účelem určení optických vlastností série vzorků tenkých vrstev perovskitu ZnTiO3 deponovaných na skle reaktivním magnetronovým naprašováním. Jednotlivé vzorky ze série se navzájem liší množstvím titanu, což posloužilo jako zdroj změn ne jenom struktury, nýbrž i změn disperzních optických vlastností. Nízká porosita materiálu byla zjištěna použitím Bruggemanovy aproximací efektivního média. Se stoupajícím množstvím titanu ve vrstvách byl pozorován zjevný „modrý“ posun optické šířky zakázaného pásma. Pozorované změny zakázaného pásma energií je dobrý potenciál pro optoelektronické a foto-katalytické aplikace ZnTiO3. In this paper we report results from optical transmittance spectroscopy complemented with data on structure from XRD measurements to determine optical properties of a series of ZnTiO3 perovskite thin films deposited on glass by reactive magnetron co-sputtering. The members of the series differ by the titanium content that was revealed as an origin of the changes not only in structure but also in dispersive optical properties. Low porosity has been discovered and calculated using the Bruggeman effective medium approximation. An apparent blue-shift of the optical band gap energies with increasing titanium content was observed. The observed band gap engineering is a good prospective for eg optoelectronic and photocatalytic applications of ZnTiO3.

Tenké vrstvy Zn-Ti-O s různou koncentrací titanu byly deponovány reaktivním magnetronovým konaprašováním v reaktivní Ar/O2 atmosféře ze zinkového a titanového terče. Bylo zjišťěno, že se zvyšujícím obsahem Ti se struktura mění z plně krystalické wurzitové struktury ZnO se silnou přednostní kolumnární orientací na amorfní materiál Zn-Ti-O s 12.5 at% Ti. Optické parametry (spektrální index lomu a extinkční koeficient, optická šířka zakázaného pásu) a tloušťka vrstev byly hodnoceny kombinací elipsometrického měření a měření propustnosti na UV-Vis spektrofotometru. Pro hodnocení optických parametrů byl použit Cody-Lorentzův disperzní model. Zn-Ti-O thin films with different concentrations of titanium were deposited by reactive magnetron co-sputtering in a reactive Ar/O2 atmosphere from zinc and titanium targets. It was found that with increasing Ti content the structure of the films gradually changes from a fully crystalline pure ZnO wurtzite structure with a strongly preferred columnar orientation to an amorphous Zn-Ti-O material with 12.5 at% Ti. The optical parameters (spectral refractive index and extinction coefficient, optical band gap) and thickness of the films were analysed by the combined evaluation of ellipsometric measurements and measurements of transmittance on a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. For evaluation of optical parameters was used Cody-Lorentz dispersion model.

Byly připraveny tři rozdílné polymery s použitím jílu povrchově modifikovaného tetraoctylammoniem (4C8). Disperze jílových silikátových vrstev byla studována rentgenovou difrakcí (XRD) a maloúhlovým rozptylem (SAXS). Rozměry dutin byly měřeny pomocí spektroskopie doby života anihilace pozitronů (PALS). Rozptylové metody potvrdily rozvrat organizace všech polymerních lamel po přidání organojílu a vytvoření částečně mezikalcinačních systémů pro polyamidy a polycaprolactiny. Přitomnost organojílu v polymeru zvýšilo dolní hranici průměrné doby života pozitronu T3 polyamidu a snížilo horní hranici T3 pro polycaprolacton a polyethylen. Three different polymer nanocomposites were prepared using clay modified with tetraoctylammonium (4C8) surfactant. The dispersion of clay silicate layers were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and small angle scattering (SAXS). Free volume cavity sizes were studied with positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS). Scattering methods confirmed disruption of all polymer lamellae organization upon organoclay addition and the creation of partially intercalated systems for polyamide and polycaprolactone. Presence of the organoclay in the polymers enlarge the lower value of average positronium lifetime T3 of polyamide and reduce the higher value of T3 for the polycaprolactone and polyethylene.
