The dynamics of the electron population in the Earth’s radiation belts affect the upper atmosphere’s ionization level through the low-energy Electron Precipitation (EP). The impact of low-energy EP on the high-latitude ionosphere has been well explained since the 1960’s decade. Conversely, it is still not well understood for the region of the South American Magnetic Anomaly (SAMA). In this study, we present the results of analysis of the strong geomagnetic storm associated with the Interplanetary Coronal Mass Ejection (May 27-28, 2017). The atypical auroral sporadic E layers (Esa) over SAMA are observed in concomitance with the hiss and magnetosonic wave activities in the inner radiation belt. The wave-particle interaction effects have been estimated, and the dynamic mechanisms that caused the low-energy EP over SAMA were investigated. We suggested that the enhancement in pitch angle scattering driven by hiss waves result in the low-energy EP (≥10 keV) into the atmosphere over SAMA. The impact of these precipitations on the ionization rate at the altitude range from 100 to 120 km can generate the Esa layer in this peculiar region. In contrast, we suggested that the low-energy EP (≤1 keV) causes the maximum ionization rate close to 150 km altitude, contributing to the Esa layer occurrence in these altitudes.

Mensurar a qualidade da experiência do jogador vem sendo objeto de estudo da comunidade de desenvolvimento de jogos digitais. Neste sentido, entender a experiência do jogador nos jogos com propósitos educacionais têm sido um campo de pesquisa desafiador. A satisfação percebida pelo jogador a partir da sua experiência vem se configurando como um dos meios para potencializar o engajamento em jogos, principalmente quando se trata de jogos com propósito. Este artigo apresenta a avaliação do jogo Caixa de Pandora Mobile após o processo de redesign de uma versão anterior. O objetivo do trabalho foi primeiro verificar se existia diferença significativa na satisfação dos jogadores a partir da aplicação dos modelos GameFlow e PENS e, posteriormente, verificar a satisfação percebida do jogador em relação ao progresso do seu conhecimento no conteúdo enquanto jogava. Os resultados estatísticos mostraram que mesmo utilizando modelos com abordagens distintas, a avaliação não apresentou diferença significativa nos resultados, sugerindo que embora os métodos originem-se de teorias diferentes, a satisfação apresentou bons resultados com o redesign do jogo. Os resultados também apontaram que os jogadores aumentaram o seu conhecimento com relação ao conteúdo educativo abordado, sugerindo que o processo de redesign foi bem sucedido sob o ponto de vista educacional, tal qual na versão anterior do jogo.

Aquaculture is the only way to satisfy the growing global demand for seafood without depleting natural fisheries resources. Disease outbreaks are major threats to aquaculture production. The use of antibiotics or chemotherapeutics has been a common practice to combat infectious diseases that threaten production and induce high economic losses. This practice promotes high environmental harmful impacts and risks to human health (e.g., antibiotic-resistant bacteria). Thus, the development of nutritional strategies, such as natural functional supplements (FS) that preserve fish's health and well-being while preventing potential zoonotic disease and antibiotics use, is highly recommended to achieve the economical and sustainability of aquaculture. Wine and olive oil industry by-products (such as grape marc (GM) and olive pomace (OP)) are a source of high-value bioactive molecules, such as antioxidant and phenolic compounds. Thus, the valorisation of these agro-industrial by-products into new FS for aquafeeds is of high practical interest, contributing to the circular economy. The present study aims to evaluate the prospective beneficial effects of a previous optimised antioxidant-rich extract of a GM and OP mixture (WO) on seabass physiological and health status. For this purpose, two similar plant-based diets were formulated, including 0 (control diet) and 0.4% of WO extract (WO diet), corresponding to 0 and 91.1 of total antioxidants (m TE/g diet), respectively. After feeding seabass with these diets for ten weeks, the fish haematological, biochemical and immunological were assessed. The results demonstrated that 0.4% optimised WO extract decreases the mean corpuscular volume (control 159 ±53; WO 119± 9, p=0.042) in seabass. The red palm mite, Raoiella indica Hirst, is the most invasive pest, having spread quickly to several countries. In Brazil it is already present in several regions and has a high potential for dispersion to other regions, which could severely affect the cultivation of coconuts, bananas, native and exotic palm trees, and tropical flowers, such as those of the Heliconiaceae family. Thus, we aimed to determine the regions of Brazil most prone to the occurrence of R. indica using Maxent with updated data on its occurrence and a selection of bioclimatic variables that may influence its establishment. The occurrence data used were obtained through a literature search, online databases, and surveys carried out in the field. The model indicated a high potential for the establishment of R. indica in the following locations: a large part of the State of Roraima, the eastern part of the State of Amazonas, the northern and central-western parts of the State of Par´a, and parts of the states of Acre and Amap´a (North Region); the coast of Brazil from Rio Grande do Norte to the states of Paraíba, Pernanbuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and Bahia (Northeast Region); the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, the far east of Minas Gerais, and almost the entire state of S?ao Paulo, except the northern part (Southeast Region); most of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul and the most southern portion of the State of Mato Grosso (Midwest Region); and the northern part of the State of Paran´a and small parts of the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul (South Region). The bioclimatic variables that most influenced the potential geographical distribution of R. indica were precipitation of driest month (Bio14), precipitation of wettest month (Bio13), mean diurnal range (Bio2), and isothermality (Bio3). The parameterization for the Maxent model provides an updated model to prevention invasion of R. indica due updated data on its occurrence used.
