Introduction and Objectives. Prostate cancer diagnosis (PCa) has been changed by the utilization of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI). There are three main advantages brought by the mpMRI in terms of: 1. Identification and localization of malignant suspect lesions; 2. Assessment of the risk to harbour clinically significant prostate cancer; 3. Assistance of the targeted prostate biopsy. The most available technique of targeted prostate biopsy is MRI-TRUS fusion biopsy (Fus-TBx). The aim of the current analysis was the evaluate the performance of the Fus-TBx in the PCa diagnosis. Materials and Methods. In the current analysis we included all patients from our prospectively maintained database who underwent MRI-TRUS fusion prostate biopsy in our department between October 2017 and December 2021. All patients had clinical (positive DRE) or biochemical (PSA > 4ng/ml) suspicion of PCa and had been evaluated imagistically (mpMRI), presenting at least one suspect malignant lesion. In each case MRI-TRUS Fusion prostate biopsy (2-4 cores/lesion) was performed, followed by 12 cores systematic biopsy. Results. Our cohort includes 934 patients. The overall PCa diagnostic rate was 49.9%, while the clinically significant (csPCa) and clinically indolent (ciPCa) PCa diagnostic rates were 34.8% and 15.1%. The PCa detection rate in depen)dence to the PI-RADS score was 29.7%, 49.8% and 72.7% for PI-RADS 3, 4 and 5 lesions. The optimal strategy for both the PCa and csPCa diagnosis, was association of the FUS-TBx with SBx (49.9% vs 46.9% vs 39.3% for SBx vs TBx, p<0.001; 69.7% vs 62.7% vs 51.7% for SBx vs TBx, p=0.008). Taking into consideration variables like PI-RADS score or localization of the suspect lesion, association of the two bioptic techniques remains the most performant. Conclusions. mpMRI and MRI-US fusion fusion biopsy are important tools to assess the presence of PCa. The mpMRI guided pathway represents the gold standard for the modern and accurate diagnosis of PCa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Adenosquamous carcinoma of the lung (ASC) is a rare non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) subtype combining components of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC). Data on ASC, particularly in Caucasian populations, are limited. Methods: We reviewed clinicopathological and radiological characteristics of ASC patients diagnosed between 1996 and 2023. Patients were classified into AC-predominant ASC (AC-ASC) and SCC-predominant ASC (SCC-ASC) groups for analysis. Results: Among the 66 patients included, the median overall survival was 41.7 (95% CI, 25.0-54.4), while it was 48.1 (95% CI, 27.3-88.0) in patients treated with curative surgery (n = 44) and 15.3 (95% CI, 6.5-42.6) months for palliative patients (n = 22). The five-year survival rates were 39% and 26%, respectively. Recurrence occurred in 43% of stage I patients and was associated with worse survival (HR 3.303 (95% CI, 1.10-9.89) p = 0.033). AC-ASCs (n = 17) more frequently showed air-bronchogram ( p = 0.002) and pleural effusions ( p = 0.054) compared to SCC-ASCs (n = 26). SCC-ASCs exhibited more vascular invasion ( p = 0.006) and PD-L1 values between 1 and 49% (TPS) ( p = 0.032). The subtype did not influence survival. EGFR and ALK alterations were found in 17% and 2% of patients, respectively. Conclusions: Despite early-stage disease, ASC patients had a high recurrence rate, associated with worse survival. Clinicopathologic differences between AC-ASCs and SCC-ASCs did not influence survival.

Objectives: The aim of this multicentre retrospective study was to review the clinical data, outcomes and histopathological features of cats that had been treated for ocular surface dermoids., Methods: Thirteen cats from various private practices in France with a clinical diagnosis of ocular surface dermoid were included in the study., Results: The mean age of the study population at the time of diagnosis was 5 months. There were nine males and four females. Three different breeds were domestic shorthair (n = 7), Birman (n = 4) and Havana Brown (n = 2). Two of the four Birmans were related (same sire). The two Havana Browns were also related (same sire). All of the dermoids were unilateral. Five of the dermoids were strictly conjunctival. Four affected both the conjunctiva and the cornea. Three affected both the conjunctiva and the eyelid, and one was strictly corneal. They were located in various positions: temporal (n = 9), inferonasal (n = 1), dorsonasal (n = 1) and dorsotemporal (n = 1). The last dermoid was heterogeneous and involved the nasal, dorsal and temporal quadrants. Concurrent eye diseases were observed in five patients: four cats exhibited associated eyelid agenesis and one cat exhibited persistent iris-to-iris pupillary membranes. Ten dermoids were surgically excised with no recurrences. Surgery was not performed for three cats: one cat died a few days after diagnosis and two cats were lost to follow-up after initial presentation., Conclusions and Relevance: Ocular surface dermoids are a rare condition in cats that can be treated successfully by surgical excision. Although our study reports only a small number of cases, the observation of ocular surface dermoids in two related cats in two different breeds indicates that genetic transmission is likely.

Objective: The aim of this retrospective study was to review the clinical data and outcomes of patients that suffered ectopic cilium (EC)., Animals Studied: One hundred and twelve dogs from multiple private practices in France, with a clinical diagnosis of EC were included in the study., Results: The mean age of affected dogs was 2.3 years. There were 64 females and 48 males. The most represented breeds were the Shi Tzu, the French Bulldog, the English Bulldog and the Chihuahua. Eleven dogs were affected bilaterally. The upper eyelid was implicated in 93.5% of the cases, with the median portion being the most affected. No statistical difference was observed between the right and the left eye. EC were associated with distichiasis in 50% of the cases. Pigmentation of the conjunctiva at the point of exit of the EC was present in 58% of the cases. EC were short in 75% and long in 25% of the cases. Corneal complications were statistically associated with short EC. The corneal lesions associated with EC were keratitis (94%), corneal granuloma (0.8%), corneal fibrosis (2.7%), corneal degeneration (0.8%), superficial corneal ulcer (68.7%), deep corneal ulcer (8%) and perforating corneal ulcer (0.8%). The surgeries which consisted of the removal of the hair follicle was successful in 88.4% of the cases., Conclusion: EC is a rare condition which can be treated successfully by the removal of the hair follicles.
