New types of highly chemically resistant coating systems, primarily intended for concrete and metal substrates, were designed and experimentally verified in the paper. Secondary raw materials in optimal amounts, including solidified hazardous waste (e.g., end product and cement bypass dust), were used as microfillers. The polymer coating systems, containing pre-treated hazardous waste (HW), showed high abrasion resistance and excellent adhesion to metal and concrete surfaces. Based on polyurethane and epoxy resins, the coatings can be used in environments where aggressive chemical media act, such as sewers and the chemical industry. The developed polymeric coating systems showed even better properties than the compared reference coating systems. The chemical resistance of the three-layer coating systems was evaluated both visually and based on changes in mechanical properties, such as hardness and adhesion. The microstructure of the coating systems was also monitored using a digital optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX) after chemical stress. It was observed that the particles of HW were fully incorporated into the polymer matrix of the coating systems., V příspěvku byly navrženy a experimentálně ověřeny nové typy vysoce chemicky odolných nátěrových systémů, primárně určených pro betonové a kovové podklady. Jako mikroplniva byly použity druhotné suroviny v optimálním množství, včetně solidifikovaného nebezpečného odpadu (např. end-produkt a cementové odprašky). Polymerní nátěrové systémy obsahující předupravený nebezpečný odpad (HW) vykazovaly vysokou odolnost proti oděru a vynikající přilnavost ke kovovým a betonovým povrchům. Nátěry na bázi polyuretanových a epoxidových pryskyřic lze použít v prostředí, kde působí agresivní chemická média, jako jsou kanalizace a chemický průmysl. Vyvinuté polymerní nátěrové systémy vykazovaly ještě lepší vlastnosti než srovnávané referenční nátěrové systémy. Chemická odolnost třívrstvých nátěrových systémů byla hodnocena jak vizuálně, tak na základě změn mechanických vlastností, jako je tvrdost a adheze. Mikrostruktura nátěrových systémů byla také sledována pomocí digitálního optického mikroskopu a rastrovacího elektronového mikroskopu s energiově disperzní spektrometrii (SEM-EDX) po chemickém namáhání. Bylo pozorováno, že částice HW byly plně začleněny do polymerní matrice nátěrových systémů.

The use of superabsorbent polymers (SAP) in construction is a relatively new trend, and not a completely explored area. However, SAP itself has been on the market for over 80 years. SAPs have a cross-linked three-dimensional structure, thanks to which they have the unique ability to absorb extreme amounts of water, up to a hundred times their weight. By using this property, it is possible to prevent water losses, which is important at the time of maturation in cementitious building materials. When there is a lack of water needed for hydration processes, the physical and mechanical properties deteriorate. The subject of this article is to determine the possible positive effect of the presence of SAP in the cement matrix in order to optimize the parameters of silicate composites for 3D printing. For this purpose, a special methodology was compiled consisting of tests through which it is possible to assess the suitability of the tested mixtures for 3D printing. This methodology consists of determining consistency, volumetric weight, ultrasonic analysis, buildability, X-ray diffraction, flexural tensile and compressive strength. For determining of buildability and ultrasonic analysis new methodologies were created in this research in order to be suitable for the 3D printing materials. Last but not least, efforts are also being made to increase the incorporation of secondary raw material (fly ash) in order to reduce the environmental impact of industrial production and, conversely, to increase its sustainability while maintaining or improving the mechanical–physical parameters of building materials. From the results presented in this paper it is apparent, that created methodology is efficient for determining properties of 3D printable mixtures. SAPs also significantly influenced properties of these mixtures. Mainly buildability and flexural tensile strength (by up to 30%) were increased and volumetric weight was decreased (by up to 5%).

Electroconductive cement-based composites are modern materials that are commonly used in many industries such as the construction industry, among others. For example, these materials can be used as sensors for monitoring changes in construction, grounding suspension, and resistance heating materials, etc. The aim of the research presented in this article is to monitor the impact of carbon particle character on cement-based electroconductive composites. Four types of graphite were analyzed. Natural and synthetic types of graphite, with different particle sizes and one with improved electrically conductive properties, were tested. For the analysis of the electrical conductivity of powder raw materials, a new methodology was developed based on the experience of working with these materials. Various types of graphite were tested in pure cement paste (80% cement, 20% graphite) as well as in a composite matrix, which consisted of cement (16.8%), a mixture of silica sand 0–4 mm (56.4%), graphite filler (20.0%) ground limestone (6.7%) and super plasticizers (0.1%). The resistivity and physical-mechanical properties of the composite material were determined. Furthermore, the resistivity of the test samples was measured with a gradual decrease in saturation. It may be concluded that graphite fillers featuring very fine particles and high specific surface are most suitable and most effective for creating electrically conductive silicate composites. The amount, shape and, in particular, the fineness of the graphite filler particles thus creates suitable conditions for the creation of an integrated internal electricity-conductive network. In the case of the use of a coarse type of graphite or purely non-conductive fillers, the presence of an electrolyte, for example, in the form of water, is necessary to achieve a low resistivity. The paper presents research into the changes of properties in cement-bonded particleboards caused by moisture saturation over the course of 504 h. Three particleboard variants were tested, all at the age of 18 months. The first is a standard production-line board manufactured by CIDEM Hranice, a.s. (identified as CP-R). The other two variants were modified by by-products of the particleboard manufacturing process—dust (CP-D) and a particulate mixture (CP-P). The experiment observed changes in the boards’ dimensions, volume, and mass. The effect of moisture on their basic material properties was also investigated. While the boards were being saturated by water, changes in their structure were examined using an optical microscope. It was found that the boards behave differently depending on their composition. Also there were differences in the dynamics of the property changes. The modified particleboards are more susceptible to dimensional and volume changes. Both, volume and mass undergo the most significant changes during the first 24 h. Cracks and air voids inside the wood chips begin to close upon contact with water as a result of swelling. It was observed by optical microscopy that this process occurs within 3 to 5 min since immersion in the water bath. Between 24 and 96 h the rate at which the air voids and pores are closing begins to decrease and there is a difference in the dynamics of mass and volume changes as well. Wet–dry cycling of the boards was analysed as well. Temperature and moisture fluctuations negatively affected particleboard behaviour and properties. Strength dropped up to 50%. Wider cracks in structure of the particleboards were detected by optical microscopy, namely in ITZ (internal transition zone) of cement matrix and spruce chips., Článek prezentuje výzkum zamšřený na změny vlastností cementotřískových desek způsobené saturací desek vodou po dobu 504 hod. Byly testovány tři varianty desek ve stáří 18 měsíců. První sada desek je referenční, tj. standardně průmyslově vyráběná spol. CIDEM Hranice, a.s. (CP-R). Ostatní dvě sady jsou modifikované vedlejšími produkty z výroby cementotřískových desek - prachem (CP-D) a částicovou směsí (CP-P). Byly testovány změny rozměrů, objemu a hmotnosti desek. Vliv vlhkosti na mateirálové vlastnosti desek byl rovněž zkoumán. Byly sledovány změny strukutry optickým mikroskopem při ponoření desek do vody. Bylo potvrzeno rozdílné chování desek v závislosti na složení desek. Byly prokázány diference v dynamice změn hodnocených parametrů. Desky modifikovaného složení jsou náchylnější k rozměrovým a objemovým změnám, ovšem vyhoví požadavkům technických norem. Mechanické vlastnosti desek nebyly negativně ovlivněny. Objemové i hmotnostní změny probíhají nejvýrazněji v časovém intervalu do cca 24 hod. Trhliny a dutiny v oblasti dřevěných třísek jsou při kontaktu desek s vodou postupně vyplňovány bobtnajícími třískami. Optickým mikroskopem bylo potvrzeno, že toto nastává přibližně do 3 až 5 minut od ponoření do vody. V rozmezí 24 – 96 hod již rychlost zaplňování dutin a pórů v deskách klesá. Dynamika změn objemu a hmotnosti je odlišná. Bylo také analyzováno cyklické střídání vlhkého a suchého prostředí. Teplotní a vlhkostí výkyvy negativně ovlivnily chování desek a jejich vlastnosti. Pevnost poklesla až o 50 %. Optickými mikroskopem byly identifikování širší trhliny ve struktuře takto zatěžovaných desek, zejména pak v ITZ (interfaciální tranzitní zóně) cementové matrice a smrkových třísek.

Epoxy resins are currently used in many areas of construction, such as resistant coatings, anchors, fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, grouts, etc. This paper deals mainly with epoxy composites that can be applied during the rehabilitation of concrete constructions. The influence of a filler type on epoxy thermoset composites was monitored, whilst three different types of epoxy resin were used in order to achieve a better representation and confirmation of the results. During the testing of fillers, these were mainly secondary raw materials, including pre-treated hazardous waste (neutralisation sludge), representing various shapes and sizes of particle, while their amount in the epoxy matrix was chosen with regard to optimal viscosity and workability. Physical and mechanical parameters, like compressive and flexural strengths, cohesion with the concrete and thermal expansion of the epoxy composites containing various fillers were determined. The microstructure of epoxy composites with a different filler type and chemical resistance against chemical aggressive media were all monitored. The microstructure of epoxy composites was monitored using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) supported by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Computed tomography (CT) was also used for the evaluation of the cohesion of the epoxy composites with concrete and dispersion of the filler in the epoxy matrix., Epoxidové pryskyřice se v současné době používají v mnoha oblastech stavebnictví, jako jsou odolné nátěry, kotvy, polymerní kompozity vyztužené vlákny (FRP), spárovací hmoty atd. Tento příspěvek se zabývá především epoxidovými kompozity, které lze aplikovat při sanaci betonových konstrukcí. Byl sledován vliv typu plniva na epoxidové termosetové kompozity, přičemž pro dosažení lepší prezentace a konfirmace výsledků byly použity tři různé typy epoxidových pryskyřic. V průběhu testování plniv se jednalo především o druhotné suroviny, včetně předem upraveného nebezpečného odpadu (neutralizační kal), představující různé tvary a velikosti částic, přičemž jejich množství v epoxidové matrici bylo zvoleno s ohledem na optimální viskozitu a zpracovatelnost. Byly zkoušeny fyzikálně-mechanické parametry, jako jsou pevnosti v tlaku a ohybu, soudržnost s betonem a teplotní roztažnost epoxidových kompozitů obsahujících různá plniva. Byla sledována mikrostruktura epoxidových kompozitů s různým typem plniva a chemická odolnost vůči chemicky agresivním médiím. Mikrostruktura epoxidových kompozitů byla monitorována pomocí rastrovací elektronové mikroskopie (SEM) podporované energiově-disperzní rentgenovou spektroskopií (EDX). Počítačová tomografie (CT) byla také použita pro hodnocení soudržnosti epoxidových kompozitů s betonem a disperze plniva v epoxidové matrici.

This paper deals with the study and development of polymer-based adhesive with high filling ratio of secondary raw materials and waste materials. The goal of this paper is to develop adhesive mortar with the highest filling rate of secondary raw materials and waste materials as possible while preserving very high physical-mechanical properties, including flexural and compressive strength, pull-off bond strength and abrasion resistance. High-temperature fly ash, waste slag and waste packaging glass are used in this paper as fillers. The resulting mortar shows high physical-mechanical properties, including high abrasive resistance and very high bonding strength to a large variety of building materials including concrete, steel, glass, and tiles.

Newly developed tile grouts are intended mainly for environment with strong chemical loading. For this reason, chemical resistance was one of the key parameters observed. The grout for cast basalt tile was polymer based, in particular with epoxide binder and it utilized solidified hazardous wastes as fillers. It is well-known that epoxide binder has high resistance to solutions of inorganic substances. However, it is easily degraded by organic compounds. This was taken into consideration when assessed aggressive environments and their concentrations were selected. Examined substances were 60% solution of sulfuric acid, vapors of this acid (at concentration 96%) and 10% solution of acetic acid. After exposition to action of these aggressive substances, first of all the visual changes were assessed, i.e. change of color, formation of blisters, cracks, flaking or change of sheen. Then influence on microstructure, changes of bulk density and strengths of materials were observed., Nově vyvinuté spárovací hmoty jsou určeny hlavně do prostředí se silným chemickým namáháním. Z tohoto důvodu byla chemická odolnost jedním z klíčových pozorovaných parametrů. Spárovací hmota pro dlažby z taveného čediče byla na bázi polymeru, konkrétně s epoxidovým pojivem, a jako plniva využívala solidifikované nebezpečné odpady. Je dobře známo, že epoxidové pojivo má vysokou odolnost vůči roztokům anorganických látek. Je však snadno degradovatelný organickými sloučeninami. Toto bylo vzato v úvahu při výběru agresivního prostředí a jejich koncentrací. Zkoumanými látkami byly 60% roztok kyseliny sírové, páry této kyseliny (v koncentraci 96 %) a 10% roztok kyseliny octové. Po vystavení působení těchto agresivních látek byly nejprve hodnoceny vizuální změny, tj. Změna barvy, tvorba puchýřů, praskliny, odlupování nebo změna lesku. Poté byl pozorován vliv na mikrostrukturu, změny objemové hmotnosti a pevnosti materiálů.

Dealing with waste materials, particularly hazardous waste, is a serious problem. Disposal areas keep growing, and the costs incurred are high. Disposing of such waste reduces negative environmental impacts and offers considerable financial savings. This paper focuses on the possibilities of incorporating pollutants found in hazardous wastes as fillers in coatings based on polymers (epoxide and polyurethane). These coatings are intended mainly for concrete and metal bases and offer secondary protection against adverse weather conditions. Important physical and mechanical properties of the newly developed materials were determined; they include surface hardness, impact resistance, tensile properties, and chemical resistance. These properties were also compared to those of the reference filler. At the same time, the influence of aggressive media on the properties of these materials was observed, in particular on flexural characteristics. The microstructures of the developed coatings were tested using a high-resolution optical microscope, before and after exposure to the chemicals. The positive effect of using progressive fillers, such as solidified hazardous waste (a solidification product (SF)), was witnessed by their constructive contribution to the materials’ physical and mechanical properties. The use of solidification products is unambiguously advantageous from technical, ecological, and economical stand points (utilization of hazardous waste as a progressive filler instead of landfilling, improvement of tensile properties, reduction in the price of coating system, and incorporation of the pollutants into the polymer matrix)., Nakládání s odpadními materiály, zejména nebezpečnými, je vážným problémem. Skládky se neustále zvětšují a vzniklé náklady jsou vysoké. Zbavování se nebezpečných odpadů snižuje negativní dopady na životní prostředí a nabízí značné finanční úspory. Článek se zaměřuje na možnosti začlenění znečišťujících látek nalezených v nebezpečných odpadech jako plniv do nátěrů na bázi polymerů (epoxid a polyurethan). Tyto nátěry jsou určeny především pro betonové a kovové podklady v rámci sekundární ochrany proti nepříznivým povětrnostním podmínkám. V rámci výzkumu byly stanoveny důležité fyzikálně-mechanické vlastnosti nově vyvinutých materiálů, a to především tvrdost povrchu, odolnost proti nárazu, tahové vlastnosti a chemická odolnost. Tyto vlastnosti byly také porovnány s vlastnostmi referenčního nátěru obsahující primární plnivo. Současně byl pozorován vliv agresivních médií na vlastnosti těchto materiálů, zejména na ohybové vlastnosti. Mikrostruktura vyvinutých nátěrů byla zkoumana s použitím optického mikroskopu s vysokým rozlišením, před a po expozici chemickými látkami. O pozitivním účinku použití progresivních plniv, jako je solidifikát (SF), svědší především jejich konstruktivní přispění k fyzikálně-mechanickým vlastnostem nátěrů. Použití solidifikátů je jednoznačně výhodné z technického, ekologického a ekonomického hlediska (využití nebezpečného odpadu jako progresivního plniva místo skládkování, zlepšení tahových vlastností, snížení ceny nátěrového systému a začlenění polutantů do polymerní matrice).

For commercially produced polymer systems, only primary raw materials are used as fillers. These fillers are predominantly pure silica sand of various grading. The substitution of primary materials with secondary raw materials, and their efficient use in the manufacture of polymeric repairing substances, is an indisputable advantage of the use of secondary raw materials. There is currently no general methodology for monitoring the long-term durability and microstructure of repairing substances on a polymeric basis. In this article, long-term durability was assessed by subjecting developed substances with a high content of secondary raw materials (60% fly ash, 75% glass recyclate) to freezing cycles and subsequent cohesion testing. Additionally, through exposure of a concrete element reprofiled by the developed substance, the weather effects for approximately one year. The microstructure of polymeric repairing substances cannot be observed by the same methods used for silicate substances. With regard to the type of tested substance and the filler used, advanced CT tomography and high resolution optical microscopy were chosen for monitoring the microstructure. Based on the results of the tested substances cohesion with the underlying concrete following the freezing cycles, and the evaluation of the taken images, it can be stated that the test repairing substances have excellent long-term durability and can be used in different applications. Furthermore, it was confirmed that replacing the primary filler with the secondary raw material does not reduce the long-term durability of the polymeric repairing substances on an epoxy basis. It was confirmed that only slight degradation occurs due to the photooxidation of epoxy resin by UV radiation, but this does not have a significant effect on physical and mechanical properties., U komerčně vyráběných polymerních správkových systémů se jako plniva využívají pouze primární suroviny. V naprosto dominantní míře se jedná o čistý křemičitý písek různé zrnitosti. Nahrazení primárních surovin druhotnými a jejich efektivní využití při zhotovení polymerních správkových hmot je nespornou výhodou využívání druhotných surovin. Pro sledování dlouhodobé trvanlivosti a mikrostruktury správkových hmot na polymerní bázi neexistuje zatím v současnosti žádná obecná metodika. V rámci tohoto článku se dlouhodobá trvanlivost posuzovala podrobením vyvinutých hmot s vysokým obsahem druhotných surovin (60% popílek, 75% skelný recyklát) zmrazovacím cyklům a následným zkoušením soudržnosti. Dále pak vystavením betonového prvku, reprofilovaného vyvinutou hmotou, povětrnostním vlivům po dobu přibližně jednoho roku (2017). Mikrostrukturu polymerních správkových hmot nelze pozorovat stejnými metodami jako u silikátových hmot. S ohledem na typ zkoušené hmoty a použitá plniva byla pro sledování mikrostruktury zvolena pokročilá CT Tomografie a optická mikroskopie s vysokým rozlišením. Na základě výsledků soudržnosti zkoušených hmot s podkladním betonem po zmrazovacích cyklech a vyhodnocením pořízených snímků lze konstatovat, že zkoušené správkové hmoty vykazují vynikající dlouhodobou trvanlivost, přičemž je lze použít v rámci různých aplikací. Dále bylo potvrzeno, že nahrazením primárního plniva druhotnými surovinami nedochází ke snížení dlouhodobé trvanlivosti polymerních správkových hmot na epoxidové bázi. Pouze bylo potvrzeno, že dochází k mírné degradaci hmot vlivem fotooxidace epoxidové pryskyřice působením UV záření, což ale nemá výrazný vliv na fyzikálně-mechanické vlastnosti.

Bakalářská práce se věnuje jednomu z aktuálních témat, a to efektivnímu využití průmyslových odpadů ve stavebních materiálech. Teoretická část této práce uvádí změny v legislativě České republiky v oblasti odpadového hospodářství, vysvětluje nejdůležitější pojmy a definuje jednotlivé způsoby nakládání s odpadem. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo zpracování metodického postupu pro efektivní využití průmyslových odpadů. Metodický postup byl sestaven na základě vypracovaného základního souboru možných variant využití odpadů ve stavebnictví a souboru příslušných normativních a legislativních kritérií. Pro lepší orientaci v příslušných normách byla také sestavena tabulka elementárních kritérií. Navrhnutá metodika byl demonstrován na konkrétním příkladu, a to na škváre ze spalovny komunálního odpadu. Škvára byla zkoumána ve dvou prostředích – laboratorní a řízené (s 8 % koncentrací oxidu uhličitého a 80 % relativní vlhkostí) – pro lepší pochopení její chování. Očekávané zrychlení procesu odležení v řízeném prostředí se potvrdilo na základě míry karbonatace. Předpokládané snížení objemových změn vzorků vystavené řízenému prostředí se také potvrdilo., This bachelor´s thesis deals with one of current topics, namely to effective use of industrial waste in building materials. The theoretical part of this work presents changes in legislation of the Czech Republic in field of waste management system, explains the most important terms and defines each method of waste management. The main goal of this work was to formulate a methodological procedure for efficient use of industrial waste. The methodological procedure was compiled on the basis of elaborated base set of possible variants of waste utilization in the construction sector and a set of corresponding criteria of standards and legislative criteria. A table of elementary criteria has also been compiled for the better orientation in corresponding standards. The proposed methodological procedure was demonstrated on specific example, in fact on slag from municipal waste incineration. The slag was examined in two environments – one with standard laboratory condition and the second with controlled condition (8 % concentration of carbon dioxide and 80 % of relative humidity) – for better understanding of its behaviour. The expected acceleration of the aging process in the environment with controlled condition was confirmed based on the degree of carbonation. The expected reduction of volume changes of the sample exposed to the controlled condition was also confirmed.

Oblast využití těchto izolačních materiálů je zejména u průmyslových komínů, kde teploty spalin dosahují 85 až 200 °C, dále u průmyslových kotlů a pecí s povrchovými teplotami do 500 °C. V úvodní části je provedeno shrnutí současných poznatků na poli izolačních materiálů u nás i ve světě. Dále se práce věnuje návrhu možných vstupních surovin a vhodných receptur. Podle účelu použití se práce rozděluje na dvě části - vysokoteplotní izolace pro tvarově jednoduché a pro tvarově složité podmínky. V dílčích podkapitolách se zabývá různými možnostmi provedení. Then the work is dealing with proposal of possible raw materials and suitable formula. According to purpose of use is the work divided into two parts – high temperature insulation for simple and for complicated shapes conditions. The sub-sections are divided to different possibilities of performance. The aim was, based on the scientific expertise of other authors in the world, design a new insulation system and redound to deepening scientific knowledge in the area of lightweight materials on the silica basis and to the extension of the offer of new products in building and industrial practice.

Práce se zabývá vývojem nových izolačních materiálů na silikátové bázi pro použití při vyšších teplotách. Oblast využití těchto izolačních materiálů je zejména u průmyslových komínů, kde teploty spalin dosahují 85 až 200 °C, dále u průmyslových kotlů a pecí s povrchovými teplotami do 500 °C. V úvodní části je provedeno shrnutí současných poznatků na poli izolačních materiálů u nás i ve světě. Dále se práce věnuje návrhu možných vstupních surovin a vhodných receptur. Podle účelu použití se práce rozděluje na dvě části - vysokoteplotní izolace pro tvarově jednoduché a pro tvarově složité podmínky. V dílčích podkapitolách se zabývá různými možnostmi provedení. Hlavním cílem bylo na základě poznatků získaných v teoretické části, vyvinout nový systém izolace a tím přispět k prohloubení současných odborných a vědeckých poznatků v oblasti vylehčených hmot na silikátové bázi a k rozšíření nabídky nových produktů ve stavební a průmyslové praxi., This work deals with the development of new types of insulating materials for use in the higher temperature. The area of application of these insulation materials is especially industrial chimneys, where the exhaust gases achieves 85 to 200 °C, furthermore it is industrial boilers and furnaces with surface temperature to 500 °C. In the introduction is presented the current knowledge in the field of insulating materials in the Czech Republic and in the world. Then the work is dealing with proposal of possible raw materials and suitable formula. According to purpose of use is the work divided into two parts – high temperature insulation for simple and for complicated shapes conditions. The sub-sections are divided to different possibilities of performance. The aim was, based on the scientific expertise of other authors in the world, design a new insulation system and redound to deepening scientific knowledge in the area of lightweight materials on the silica basis and to the extension of the offer of new products in building and industrial practice.
